Hope you all had a great weekend (even though it went by way to fast like always).

My big dilemma is whether or not to have a piece of cake tomorrow for my moms birthday.....need opinions! We are going to Applebee's for her bday dinner tmw so I will plan it out so I know what I can eat. I am starting to strictly count calories tmw so should it be ok if I leave enough open calories or should I just say no? I am also going to take one day off a week instead of two for this challenge. Sorry for the long post, just wanted to give you all an update.

I guess it really depends on you. For me, I couldn't have even a small slice of cake. Cake, cupcakes, things like that are a BIG trigger for me and if I had a small piece I probably wouldn't be able to stop myself. LOL :o

If you think you can have a small piece and allot it into your calories I say go for it.

Rtsmme4life 01-02-2011 10:51 PM

Thanks T! I think that if I eat a light dinner then I will have a little piece. I am making sure all the cake stays there and none comes home with me. I have it in my fridge now since I am the one that bought it for her :) I have had such an upset stomach from stuff (darn lactose intolerance) so I am going to experiment this week and see what stuff I have to totally cut out of my diet.

Just wondering if anyone gets headaches from chocolate? I have to stay away from caffeine bc I get headaches and breast pain (sorry TMI). I have had this same headache for about 4 days now and I'm trying to figure out what the trigger is.
Time for bed since the kids are going back to school tomorrow and back to the up at 6am schedule (boooooooo!).

Anyways in any event have fun!

I think that is what I am going to do. Like you said it really isn't worth the calories of a whole piece of cake. And can I just say you look AMAZING in your profile pic! Hot mama!!

Thanks so much hon!! I felt particularly good in that picture (and a few full length ones we took later) because I was wearing a dress of my sister's. That was a fun NSV - I went shopping in her closet!! :)

As for chocolate, no I don't get any headaches from it or caffeine (thank goodness, tea is a major weakness, as is diet coke)...hope you feel better soon though!

Hope everybody has a great day, I'm in my office supposedly working but my boss isn't answering his phone and I don't have any passwords yet to get into our system, so just kinda hanging out at present!

Rtsmme4life 01-03-2011 12:14 PM

Liz-That is an awesome NSV! Are you going to be posting more progress pics? You are so inspiring to me!

The kids had their first day back at school today and I literally didn't sleep last night. I just laid there and my mind wouldn't shut off. So I am in zombie mode and miserable today,I want to drink some coffee to hopefully pep me up but the headache I get isn't worth it.

Today is my mom's birthday and I have my meal planned out for dinner. My goal is NO CAKE! Birthday cake is one of my favorite things so I need to stay far far away! I still feel full from my bad meal last night so it really makes me feel like I want to eat clean and never feel like this again. Sometimes I wonder if the bad food is what has been giving me these sleeping problems.

Time to eat since I haven't today...here's to a successful eating week!

Rtsmme4life 01-03-2011 07:41 PM

Ok ladies I come to you with a feeling of success! I am well under calories and didn't eat any cake even though I really really wanted to! Applebee's didn't have the meal I was going to order so I got on my LoseIt! app and found a grilled chicken dish that came with steamed veggies & potatoes all for 450 calories :) I of course had water and felt really good eating what I did while I watched everyone else eat junk lol I also left the cake at my parents house so there will be no temptation. I am currently enjoying a little over a half a glass of wine (within my calories) hoping it will help me sleep tonight.
My birthday is March 1st so not to far off and I was wondering if anyone has a recipe for a low sugar/calorie cake so I can enjoying having something for my birthday.

Have a great night ladies!

sept15lija 01-03-2011 09:53 PM

Mel - WTG girl!!!! That's awesome! I find a strange sense of satisfaction at saying no to something and coming in under calories (although I usually make a point of eating something small when I get home, just to stay at my 1500 calorie range...it's weird but I'm afraid to go lower and have my body get used to a lower amount and then HAVE to lower it to lose, kwim??). Anyhow YAY! And sorry, I don't have any good recipes, but I bet you one of us has one! I thought I'd post the pics of me in the dress, thank you for saying I inspire you, you do too girlie, as does everyone here who continues with this battle!!

So two of me in the dress, side by side with an older picture from about 2 1/2 years ago at Jacob's baptism that shows the before pic for the new gals! :)

Good evening Ladies. I usually post a lot earlier than this. 5:30 a.m. comes early and I really should be in bed but I didn't want to miss out on the thread!

I am happy to say that the headache is gone and I was able to go to the Y tonight and get in a 30 min walk on the track (treadmills were full). It's the first workout in a LONG time. I felt great afterwards--well..as soon as I stretched. About 10 min in my hips felt tight and so I thought about how those people on Biggest Loser have to hurt when they start exercising but they do it anyway...so I kept moving and kept breathing and felt good about myself.

Food was good today--in my calorie range and I didn't feel hungry.

tschaff04: Thanks for the fish..I thought it was cute and funny!

sept15lija: you look amazing and what a cute baby! Also, great idea on not leaving so many calories for the whole piece of cake but rather alott for a 1/4 instead.

Rtsmme4life: Good for you for for being within (under) your range and for not having the birthday cake. I hope you sleep better tonight.
I get headaches from chocolate and also breast pain if I have to much of it, and sometimes only a piece of it is to much for me.

Ok..got to get to bed--1st day back to work tomorrow since Christmas Eve. I need my rest! lol

sept15lija 01-04-2011 10:03 AM

Susie - 5:30, so early!! BLAH! Glad to hear your food went well yesterday, it's amazing how quickly you adapt to eating fewer calories, isn't it? And then after that it's just second nature. And WTG on the workout too! I took the dog for a good walk, and called it good...although I was still sore from my steam cleaning anyways! Jeez, I'm out of shape. :)

Hello everyone else....

Today is Jacob's first day back at preschool, he did great, no fuss or anything over being left, and the house is strangely quiet with one kid asleep and him gone - so I can actually get some work done....there's always someone here to take care of the kids while I'm working, but Jacob just doesn't respect the rule that when mommy's office door is closed, he's not allowed in....we're going to have to work on that but it's a lot to get used to after having me with him everyday for over a year! Hope everybody has a great day.

Rtsmme4life 01-04-2011 10:20 AM

Liz- Holy moly you look FANTASTIC!!! I just can't say enough about how impressed I am with your progress! You are rocking that dress! I know what you mean about it being quiet when kids are in school.

Susie-So glad that your headache went away. Seems like you and I are in the same boat with chocolate and caffeine. Yay for walking around the track and having a great food day. I get up at 6am so I feel for you :)

I finally got a little sleep last night and my stomach feels so much better since I ate healthy yesterday. I have a roast with potatoes and carrots in the crock pot for later so I know dinner will be good :) Have a great day ladies I'm off to do housework.

I can totally relate! My son has been with me everyday of his life, all day. 3 1/2 years. I don't expect preschool is going to be a very easy transition. We tried to do the playland at the gym so me and dh could work out. My daughter(she is 18 months old) did fine. LOVED playing in there with the other kids, but my son was NOT having it. lol He would only play in there if we stayed with him. :dizzy:

Hi to everyone !!!!! Have a great day !!!

Carri

Good luck!! Soda is a hard one to kick. I was a hardcore addict. Luckily the caffeine wasn't an issue because I drank caffeine free sodas. I haven't had a drop of soda in 6 months. Water only and occasionally a drink of almond milk. It's nice to actually be hydrated and putting lots of water in my body. :D

sept15lija 01-04-2011 10:51 AM

T - Yeah it can be a challenge, eh?? We had a really hard time for a while at preschool, luckily I could stay there with him until he was ready for me to leave, but he gradually got better - I was worried about leaving him today for the first day after the holidays, but happily he did great. Sounds like our kids are about the same distance apart? My DD is 11 months, and DS will be 3 in 2 weeks, they're 2 years and 2 weeks apart.

Carri - Good luck! I can't give up my diet soda. I am VERY addicted to caffeine, it's terrible! I'll try to tune in to Biggest Loser, I generally forget to watch particular shows but I'll do my best - I do enjoy it when I remember to watch! Thanks, I am happy with my arms when they are down...but there is loose skin underneath which really bothers me. Oh well - just have to remember not to raise my hand!!!

Mel - Thanks! Glad to hear you're feeling better -and your crockpot meal sounds great, I have to dig mine out! That's one of my resolutions, to cook more - we're all about what's easy around here.

auntie g 01-04-2011 11:43 AM

Hi everyone! OK, I'm not exactly back on track this week, even though I meant to be. Had to take the train into the city yesterday for DH to have his esophagus check, so after he came out, he wanted to EAT. Of course, since I had something I couldn't control, it set me off for the whole day. So today I'm easing back in... Had my normal bran flakes breakfast and to help with the transition, I'm making a steakless cheesesteak for dinner. Sauteed onions and mushrooms with some fat free cheese. I could eat it by the bowlful- I don't need the meat. Oh yeah, I just realized the whole cheesesteak bit is a Philly thing, so maybe no one else is affected by that problem! LOL!

Anyway, as Carri said, I've missed too much to try to address everyone individually right now, but I plan on checking in more often, so fingers crossed! But yes, Liz, you look awesome! I don't remember seeing the before picture, but that was probably while I was AWOL. Good to see it- makes it much more inspiring to see where people have come from! And Katie's definitely a cutie, too!

Yes, Biggest Loser tonight! Hopefully that will help inspire, too!

So much to do, so little time off of work... Hope everyone has a great day, and we ALL hit our goals this year!
