Good morning girls. I really wonder what's up with this site. I know I got an email from Jean saying she couldn't even get into it yesterday. It loads slowly and when you post it takes forever to advance the posting.

We got a call last night from #1 grandson. He called to ask if he could come stay with us over the holiday weekend. We will pick him up on Friday after he gets home from school and take him back on Monday. His parents are going a bahama cruise. He ask if we could keep Marty to and I said the more the merrier so we will have them both. We have to take him commissary shopping next week, but hopefully it won't be too horrible, though it will be right after military payday and social security payday and military retirement so it might be nuts. Maybe we will take him over the weekend to his house and go swimming one of the days at least. I can try out the new swimsuit.

Susan: Last summer we used to see county jail inmates that would clean up the road going into the Navy base. They wore jumpsuits that said on them "I am a drunk driver." I haven't seen them this year much and in fact the county is so poor they aren't getting out and mowing, which means mosquitos. I guess everywhere is just economically poor and cutting back. Jack was checking out the drive to Las Vegas and said that Arizona has closed all but 3 rest areas in the whole state!!!! Wowee I guess I better take a can with me because we drive through a lot of that state and some of it can be pretty barren retail wise. Speaking of that have you been reading the traffic jam story in China around Bejing? I guess it is 60 miles long and they are saying it will take weeks before people can get off the road. YIKES! I guess there are people hawking food and drink on bicycles along the route gouging prices for water and stuff, but you can't go for weeks with no rest room so wonder how they are managing that?

Jean: Sorry you haven't been able to get in here. I am going to email you the message I left for you here yesterday about the game.

I guess I better get a move on. I still have things to accomplish today! Have a good one everybody. Faye

Good afternoon, ladies! 82 degrees today. So pleasant!

Nothing going on today but work and the Y. I'm cleaning the downstairs carpets this weekend, washing and waxing the furniture and all that good stuff this weekend. I need to rest up!

Faye, Jean posted at the bottom of the first page. It'll be nice for you to have Thomas for the weekend. Is he going to run for class president this year? Social Security checks no longer all come out on the same day at the beginning of the month. The always go out on the Wednesday closest to your bithday. They did that to relieve the hoards at the stores and bank around the first.

Glory and I were in traffic tied up on the James River Bridge and we saw a lady get out of her car and open the back door and then get between them and go to the bathroom - and no just pee! Maybe you'll have to go behind a cactus! I hadn't heard about the traffic jam but I'll be looking it up!

Jean, glad you made it in today. My husband was terrible to go shopping for clothes. He always wanted me to do it. When he needed a suit or jacket, I made him come along and then he'd be so picky I'd want to scream "Just take one!" Men just don't know how to shop like women.

Hi, Maggie!

Have a great day!

gma22 08-26-2010 01:45 PM

Good morning to you all! Looks like another week has come and going. I can't believe it is almost fall already. We are supposed to have a warmer than usual winter here this year.

Susan: I don't know. I will have to ask him if he is going to run for student council president since he is top dog this year. I don't know why they have 6th grade as part of the jr high here, but they do. I imagine changing the social security checks that way would even out payments within the government too. A few years back the city decided to change payday from Thursday until Friday and I guess saved a bundle doing that somehow. Jack hates clothes shopping but is like Stan was. When he does go then he gets all picky about colors and patterns and stuff, comes home and wears weird colors together! lol

Jean: Looks like we were posting at the same time! lol Hope you find the pacman game. Let me know if you don't and I will get the exact link for you!

You know, they want you to pay your ticket within 15 days, but it has been two days and they still don't have it input into the computer system so I can pay the fine, but if you pay it late they stick it to you! Drives me nuts!

Well girls, I need to get going on work. I am uncommonly hungry this morning and trying to hold out until 8 am. I am having female stuff again so I am hungry all the time. Maybe one of these days it will be all over and done with. I can only hope.

Faye

Back to work! Faye

Finally Friday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

We are supposed to be in the 90's today but I guess it is still Summer. Schawan man came this morning so we have some more frozens to choose form for meals. I think I will oven bake boneless pork chops for dinner. Sounds like a plan. Since we got the Jeep back it has been so nice to go round about doing our errands. I just feel so much safer in it. I had to dismantle my herb garden I had growing on the shelf in front of my kitchen window above the sink. The plants just didn't do well there and I used what I could and then dumped them yesterday evening. That just isn't a good place to grow things even with the grow lights. It just didn't work out. Makes me sad for I so wanted an inside herb garden that thrived. Guess it just is not to be. Our outside garden produced well. We are still getting tomatoes. There are crookneck squash almost ready to pick. OH and the blackberry plants will be putting out next year for they are looking so good. It has just been so stinkin' hot that the garden has a hard time of it. Apples are turning red and hopefully we can use them later.

Looks like I am first here this day and hopefully you all can get on this thread.

 Type at y'all later.

Good Morning, Flowers! It's another beautiful morning in my neighborhood. My windows are open and Ernie is guarding the back yard from the bedroom window. I didn't accomplish much yesterday so have a load of laundry in the dryer and in the washer. I need to iron . . . maybe later. The first time I got in here it only showed a couple of the posts on this thread. :dizzy: It is still taking forever to get in here.

"Gma" -- I know you will enjoy having Thomas over the long weekend. Marty will keep Fortune on his toes too! I did find the Pac Man game, but my computer security wouldn't let me download it. It had a warning that it was not safe. There were a couple other Pac Man sites so may try one of those later. I didn't see the article on the traffic jam in China. We rarely have them and then usually only for a few minutes . . . until "those" that don't know how to drive around here get moving again. ;)

Susan -- You are going to be a busy gal with cleaning carpet and furniture this weekend. :cp: They are good jobs to have done!

Maggie -- I'm surprised your herb garden didn't grow better for you. :( The weatherman said we are going to warm up again, but so far it's just a pleasant temperature of 75 degrees and sunny. Enjoy your Schwans meals!

Beth just called for a recipe so I need to see if I can find it. Have a great day and enjoy! :D

Good afternoon gals! I had cleaning duties this morning and have stressed something in my neck and shoulder so have been creaping around this morning.

We are just hanging out today watching tv after my work was done. Tomorrow we have to spot clean the carpet downstairs and I want to clean the downstairs completely again.

Jack is in the doghouse! lol I cleaned the bathrooms this morning, brought stuff like the dirty towels and trash and stuff downstairs and I heard the water running. For whatever reason he couldn't shave and take a shower BEFORE I cleaned the bathrooms! I asked him if he got water all over the mirror. He said, "I don't know." UGH! Why is it men just do not get it sometimes! lolol

Jean: We have lovely lower temps the last couples days so I hope it continues through next week. I don't want the spare room to be a cooker for T or he will be sleeping on the couch downstairs. That little room only has one register in the ceiling and it gets direct sunlight so it can heat up big time. Facebook has free pacman. It is called something else, but looks to be the same game. If you click on the games link and then scroll through the games you should find it.

Maggie: Oh, too bad about your herbs. I am sure you have enjoyed your fresh veggies from your outside garden though.

Well gals, I need to get some things done this PM so have a good one all! Faye

Jean 08-28-2010 03:56 PM

Good Afternoon, Flowers! It's another beautiful day in my corner of the world -- sunny with a slight breeze. I've been doing laundry off and on all morning. I woke up at 4 to go to the bathroom and for whatever reason got to thinking about things I wanted to get done today; one of which was to put Jason's birthday candy in a gift bag I bought at WM a few days ago. All of a sudden I couldn't remember putting the gift bag anywhere, nor seeing a couple other items I purchased. I came home with several bags so searched until I found the receipt. I was missing 4 items!!!!! I called this morning and the customer service rep said to just come and get what I was missing then bring it to customer service. That has happened to me before -- you'd think I would learn to check before I leave the *@#$%^&* store! I'm sure my bp was sky high! So I made a trip to the library to return books, went to WM, and then stopped by the grocery store.

Bob is trimming tree branches next door so here I am! :) I think the site may be back up to speed again; at least I didn't have any trouble getting in and it was pretty fast. :cheer:

"Gma" -- I will check Facebook for PM. Thanks for the suggestion! We are supposed to be in the upper 80s for the next few days. If the humidity is down that is bearable. :twirly: I just hope it doesn't rain over the long weekend since it will be the last hoorah at the lake for the kids.

Maggie and Susan -- Hope to see you here today! :crossed:

I hear the dryer buzzing so it's on to the next load. I hope you all are enjoying a nice day! :D

Jean -- from Iowa!

Sunny Saturday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

We are in the mid 90's today with a bit of a wind blowing. Went to the farmers market and picked up some jalapeno jelly, local honey, crab apple jelly, wild plumb jelly and some apricot jam. I like to use the local honey for cooking where ever we have lived. "They" say to use local honey when at all possible because of the good stuff you need for the locality you live in is in it. I like using it in my bread baking. Just a tad of some of the jelleys and jams perk up some of my meat recipes. I am making spaghetti for dinner. :) Will bought me a ger-prize this day when he went to the shop that sells business supplies. It is a cute gray and gray striped cat that is sitting with his mouth wide open which holds paper clips. His front legs are stretched out holding a roll of scotch tape and his outstreached back legs are holding that thingie that cuts the tape. His tail is curled to one side and holds a post it note pad and there is a hole in the back that holds pens and such. With him sitting with his legs stretched out he measures 5 and a half inches. He is 4 and a half inches tall. Not counting his tail he is 3 inches wide. He is so cute. Little pink pads on his feet bottoms and a pink nose. Ragg Mopp wanted him so bad when he saw me get him out of the packaging. It came with the note pad, a couple pens, and a bunch of colored paper clips along with a roll of tape. I love getting ger-prizes.:D We also bought a camp stove today that uses those bottles. It is a two burner and is supposed to go from a simmer to a boil quickly. We are getting our camping gear rounded up.

JEAN Don't ya just hate it when you have to go back and pick up stuff you thought you got home with. We have started checking the containers before leaving the parking lot because it has happened to us when we lived lots of miles from the stores.

DONNA FAYE That is a hoot about Jack. Men don't notice a lot of things we gals do. They see the big picture and we attend to the details. Next year we are going to be doing our gardening diferently since we have such hot weather here there are things we can make it better for this area. I do believe one of the crook necked squash plants we planted are turning out to be decorative goards. We have planted things before that didn't turn out to be what was written on the package. Some seeds look so much alike we just depend on what is in the envelope is what is pictued on the front with what it is.

SUSAN Doing OK this day?

Well I think it is just about time for me to go make some of my good spaghetti sauce. Type at y'all later
