  • New Month, New thread. Hope this month will see an improvement on last month.

    May is for movement!

More importantly, May is for memories
  • Our new month has brought devasting rains. We were under a tornado warning until midnight and then the heavy rain started. Our street is flooded. If I can find the camera I'm going to make pictures. At least the power is still on for now. The neighbor called me this morning to tell me to look o ut the door. i was shocked. And to top this off it's not through raining yet. And people are dumb enough to drive in this. one car was sending waves back to the house. The water is half way up the fire hyrant in front.
  • There are idiots among us! Stay safe, Ceejay.

We have a warm day finally with some t-storms predicted. It's a very early spring here and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. (We did have snow this week but I'm ignoring that!) My crab apple tree is about to flower - three weeks early!

Let's hope for a Merry month.
  • Good Morning and Happy May to you all!!!

(((Ceejay))) sorry about he rain. eeks!

HI Shad and all who follow.

I have not blogged or posted for some time but last week read through all of your April posts. Much love to you all.

All is well for me personally. Life has been a rich journey. The year of grieving after my Grandma's passing was a journey well walked. My Mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer this Jan and is spite of the horrible disease has been an example of divine grace and hope. Those who know of the past history, this has not always been the case, I am deeply thankful for this blessed time with her.
DS is now 11 and DD is 9. Both are full of life. DS played hockey all winter and was chosen for the all star team. DD was in dance classes and has recital all this weekend. They are also in Scouts and Guides, loving nature, doing monthly camping trips, even in the snow.
I am still at the same salon, enjoying my work there very much. It's been 3 years already. It is a busy life for me as a working Mom, sometimes I get lost on the shuffle but I have been focusing this spring on pursuing my own happiness and well being. Living in the moment and one day at a time.

Wishing you all the very best. Hugs!!

Miss Ruthie peeked in, love you my dear!!

  • In the merry month of May
When green leaves begin to spring,
Little lambs do skip like fairies
Birds do couple, build and sing.

  • So glad to see hollyhock and miss ruth posting. Concerned about happy, her city is experiencing the same storm/flooding we had.

    mel
unfortunately the water was at my front door. and had seeped under it a bit. i have a heavy duty towel there now but the water has gone down some but it's still raining. i was checking that when my sister called this morning and i was barefooted and stepped on some worms. the water is washing everything out of the ground.
  • Happy - I hope you're doing okay.

Ceejay - So sorry to hear water sweeped into your house!! Yuck! And stepping on worms barefoot - ick!! We had big storms last night, but I was home from the gym before they hit.

Mel - How did I scare everyone? I'm confused.

Annie - Still sending you lots of love and hugs, my sista.

Worldly - You are SO adorable. I hope I get to meet you in person and visit you! And you're a little fat chick, just like the rest of us.

Joy - May is definitely for much merriment and moving!

Hollyhock and Ruth - Great to hear from ya' both!!

Did Zumba last night, and again this morning. Then went out to coffee with several of my friends from Zumba. I ran some errands on the way home. Once home, I moved plants outside (hopefully we don't have any overnight frosts). I've got some website work to do, along with cleaning and laundry, and making a pot of WW zero point veggie soup.

I'm going to be at the gym most of tomorrow morning with an hour of Zumba and at least 1/2 hour of strength training.

The house is way too quiet without DH here. I miss him...but I'm glad he's having a good time.

Anyway, I'm going to sign off for now so I can get some website work done.

    Love to all,
  • Oh heck Ceejay. Hope that this doesn't get any worse for you. I've seen enough of mud and water damage throuh houses this last year. It's not pretty. Hope your insurance is up to date. I hope the rain eases off soon.

Ruth and Heather - nice to see you back and posting. Ruth we have been keeping up with but Heather only through facebook.

Michelle - you'll miss the DH but he is out doing things he loves. You'll be off for your break in June (?) so we will all be living through your travels then. How does the DH get around his problems with back and knees while traipsing through the park to find wonderful pic?

Mel - good to see the cartoon penguin here too. I've included Worldly on my signature and if you wish I will send you the small avatar so you can include him on the sig as well. Unfortunately I forgot to save the pic of Shad, but then maybe it is time to let the old fella rest in peace - it's been nearly 6 years and life moves on.

Ruth - that cooking class is getting closer and closer. Wish it was me. It's well past time I continued my journey around the world. How did you hook up with that one. Find it on the 'net or by word of mouth?

Heather - so sorry to hear about your mother. I do wish someone could find a cure for this rotten disease. Good to hear that the kids are going well and that you are content in the job. I've always thought that women needed to get outside the home and keep their brains active. Makes us both better and happier people. Not that child rearing is a bad thing. It isn't - the chance to shape and grow young minds and behaviours is the most important thing in this world. But one needs more stimulus at times.

Anyway - Sunday here. Time to get out and look at life in the garden. Don't know if L is coming this weekend or not - haven't heard. But if he doesn't, then he will hear from me because I need my lawn mower back (he borrowed it a fortnight back) It's May and the grass is still growing around here. Unbelievable.
DS2 is dying on the couch. Came home from work yesterday and said he had got the lurgy. So not much got done around the house yesterday afternoon by him. We have a quote from a bricklayer to erect brick fences in the front of both his new place and mine. We have to dig trenches and put in footings before he comes. I also have to go and choose bricks or blocks for my fence - which is not that big - I mean in height. His has have deep foundations and steel reinforcing as he wants a big fence.

So today I get to finish the housework, dig in the garden, water the plants. There is another orchid budding up. It seems to have lost its label, so I am waiting to see what it is. Oh and yes, computer back up and the deletion of some files. I'm running out of space on this computer. It's getting very slow.
So hi ho - off to work I go.
  • Just to set the mind at rest, Happy is fine. They have had storms and things down their way as well as rain. It has knocked out their cable so they have no internet and no tv. They have to talk to each other.
  • At least last night and today we have had power. i'm thnkful. More storms are coming my way. I may not be lucky tonight. 3 of my neighbors had water at lest 6 inches in their apartments.

    Shad
    Thanks for checking on Happy.

  • MICHELLE.......THERE IS ANOTHER PART TO YOUR SURPRISE FROM SHAD. BUT IT WON'T BE THERE FOR A LITTLE WHILE. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN TO WATCH OUT FOR IT. YOU'RE JUST GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT!!
  • Mel – Hope your eye is alright after knocking into the tv. We have a tv mounted on a bracket on the wall in our bedroom that usually keeps it out of the way, but sometimes I manage to bonk my head on it. I like your avatar. Maybe after a while you'll enjoy seeing your birdy grandson on an avatar, but right now your loss is too fresh.

Michelle – Have a good morning at the gym today.

Ceejay – Sorry to hear about the weather that hit your area. I hope the rain holds off for a while to give the standing water a chance to recede. No more water inside your place!! Shad’s right – check that insurance policy!

Shad – Never a dull moment at your house. Now it’s brick fences! Hope ds is back on his feet soon – what is lurgy? Still mowing? I’m sure at this point you probably thought you might be able to let the gas run out on the mower.

Ruth – Good to see you pop in! Enjoy your May flowers! I’ve really enjoyed the flowering trees and shrubs this year. They are nearing the end here, but I’ve still got my blooming lilac at the moment and I have my peonies to look forward to yet.

Holly – Glad to see you here! You and the kids keeping busy as usual. Glad to hear you are able to cherish this time w/ your mother.

Happy – Glad to hear you're okay after the storms that came through, even w/o cable and internet!!

I got out yesterday and did some shopping while bf started the faucet project, but the faucet we have doesn’t work w/ the sink we have due to the way the holes are positioned. Grr. Today we’ll buy another type of faucet, but til then we’re washing up using the tub faucet. I guess I can do more shopping when bf gets back to it today, lol. Yesterday I only bought a pair of slacks and a cream cami to wear w/a sweater already in my closet. Haven’t found any tops I like. Boo. Yesterday was also a walk by the creek w/ bf & doggy where we made 2 new friends – a doggy and his dad. Coal and Joey, a 6 mo. Old mixed breed (looks like a collie mix), shared a stick they both enjoyed chewing on and occasionally tugging at. Very cute. We had some rain overnight, but nothing like Ceejay & Happy had.
I’m supposed to get some cardio this weekend (my “coach” urged me to get back to it 3x a week). I better check the weather for rain (it’s still looking cloudy here, but getting brighter) to see if I can hop on the bike and head to the gym.
  • So gald these storms are over for awhile in my area. Tn is really getting bombarded.

    Mel
I don't like worms either. To me they are baby snakes. Ouch on hitting you head on the tv. That's one of the reasons I bought a flat screen tv. I like your mantra for May.

    Laura
I was curios if you were still using your coach. Does it help? I have that option with my insurance.
