The Worldlies March On Over to Mel's for Margaritas...

Ola chickas! Don't know about you but I need a break from focusing on all the hard stuff. Maybe if I just relax a little, things will fall into place.

Let's make this a month where we focus on the positive, the things that make us :D and just feel good about ourselves

And if we need help, there's Margarita's at Mel's. :beach: Not exactly tropical warm on the boardwalk this time of year but we'll make do.

Welcome to another month, another opportunity and another month of friendship amongst the worldlies. A round of love for all :grouphug:

You may now resume posting. :comp: :write:

happy2bme 02-28-2010 11:41 PM

And a short post just to bump the new month up to the top.

I was on my feet too much today. Sufferin' succotash! I can't believe I've been off for a week and hardly nothing got done. But like DH said, it was a free pass. I am hoping to do minimal doctors this month. Tired of seeing people in white

I am excited about a new month though. February is not my favorite. I can never seem to get warm. I think I saw temperatures in the 60's for later on in the week. If I could, I'd dance - till then this guy will have to do it for me

Shad 03-01-2010 05:41 AM

Margheritas huh? Well I will have a lemon frosted thanks.

Maybe I will follow Happy's example and drink the month away.

Tomorrow will see the end of the carbon brushes. All neatly catalogued. Extraneous materials deleted, stocks correct, and the rack and storage codes absolutely right. Hard work but it's been worth it. What next??? I think I better get some paperwork finished - I'm a bit behind with that.

Happy - sorry that the feet are not fixing quickly. Still it will all be worth it in the end. Had to laugh at the kids on the lawn. I can imagine the look on DH's face with his beloved lawns and shrubs.
A 73 year old is a young un. Christchurch in NZ has Auntie Ruth. She's a bit of a character. Until she was 86, she was mending roofs. After that she got too old, so she hired an apprentice (57) and now he gets on the roof. She is now 92 and has given up the roof for laying concrete driveways. Wonder what she will do when she gets too old for that?

Mel - good to see you back. Think I saw a couple of posts from you today. Do NOT OVERDO IT! Get it, got it, GOOD!!!

Time to go feed the frenzied face. Later gator

Happy Monday everyone -

I had such a busy weekend! But it wasn't all work...and I found a little bit of resting time last night. I went to the gym Friday after work. Saturday morning, I took the dogs to the groomers and while they were getting their haircuts, I went to the library and used the WiFi to get some website work done. Then as soon as the dogs were done and I got them home, we left for Chicago. We had a wonderful dinner out with our friend - I had Chicken Parm instead of deep dish...plus a fabulous bowl of spinach and lentil soup! Mmmmmm!! After dinner we went with a friend to a Trivia contest! There were lots of questions, and they were really, really tough...but our team managed to finish 4th out of 15th...so not too bad. We got home from Chicago around 1 am. Got a few hours of sleep and woke up to put a pot roast in the crockpot. Then I went grocery shopping, did laundry and LOTS of website work. Finally got done about 5 pm. We watched the Olympic Hockey game (which we DVRed) and then I fell fast asleep. :faint:

I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym tonight for Zumba and strength training. :) I kinda overindulged on Saturday, so I'll have to work it off this week.

One quick question for my wonderful worldly friends. Yesterday and today, I've been experiencing a bit of light headedness/dizziness. I thought it might be blood sugar related...but I did a blood sugar test and it was okay. I've also recently had a few mild hot flashes, and I was wondering if the light headedness/dizziness could be a sign of perimenopause, or if I should make an appt with a doc.

Laura - Hope you had a nice, relaxing weekend, and that the BF kept the company away. :)

Ceejay - Sounds like you have very nice retirement plans. My dream retirement would be to sell the house, buy a large RV and travel around the states...being in the northern states during the summer and the southern states during the winter. Now, I have to convince DH that that's his dream retirement too. ;) I would love to travel abroad too. Retirement is a long way off for me though...not cuz I'm young...just cuz we're broke!

Happy - I just LOVE your signature line!! A 73 year old roofer?? Yikes!! I hope he assigns the more physical tasks to the younger (65 year old) guys. Glad to hear the roof is done. I hope your foot is feeling better so you can be up and around (just a little mind you!!). Sending you lots of :goodvibes: for your doc appt today. Let us know how it goes, okay? All the walking in your dream was probably your feet tellin' you something - like don't walk unless absolutely necessary, chica! You are NOT supposed to get stuff done while you were off. Your job last week was to REST and GET BETTER! :rollpin: Speaking of clutter rat, whenever we visit our friend in Chicago it reminds me just how much unnecessary STUFF/CLUTTER we have. She has a small, but very, very nice one bedroom apartment. That is so clean and well decorated and organized that it doesn't seem as small as it truly is. The whole apartment is probably the size of our living room and kitchen...and it's lovely. I came home to our house stuffed full of clutter and closets full of stuff we haven't used in years...and I realized that I have lots of sorting/organizing to do to weed stuff out. I love the spring flowers avatar!

Annie - Happy belated wedding anniversary to your parents!! Hope you had a great weekend, including quality time with momma. :)

Shad - Similar to Australia, beer features strongly at ALL festivals here. Glad to hear there's a light at the end of the carbon brushes tunnel! Hope the butt bruise is doing better. Try and stay warm, okay?

Mel - OMG, Mel! If you can get a fever from clogged up plumbing...you might wanna pick up some Fiber One bars so your "end" will be all well! 16"-20" more of snow??!! :yikes: I'm glad it missed us. That margarita you posted isn't too big...it's just the right size!! ;) Bottoms up (with apologies to Shad's bruise). Thanks for the spring flowers photo too! Makes me feel warmer already...or maybe that's just the tequila talking!

Bargoo - Virtual margaritas have no calories! Yummy! :T

Patty - Did you have a good weekend?

Well, I'd better get productive. If anyone has any reason why I'm dizzier :dizzy: and more lightheaded than normal, I'd appreciate your input. And I said dizzier, not ditzy-er!

Love to all,

MELODY525 03-01-2010 10:47 AM

SHELLY....COULD IT BE SINUS/EAR RELATED? THE FIRST THING I THOUGHT OF WAS VERTIGO. BUT A DR'S OPINION IS ALWAYS A BETTER SHOT. IN THE MEANTIME YOU COULD TRY A SINUS PILL (one that has a "D" on it) OR SOME MUCINEX...SEE IF IT GOES AWAY. WHEN I HAD MENO, I NEVER FELT LIGHTHEADED UNLESS MY LOW BLOOD SUGAR WAS ACTING UP. SENDING A HUG ANYWAY.

annie175 03-01-2010 11:02 AM

Monday is here and it is March with Yummy margaritas at Mels....I will bring Jose'...19 days til spring!!

Yesterday was great at the nursing home. We had 9 people crowded in momma's room. SHe was beaming. 62 anniversary, I am really surprised she has hung on that long to celebrate. I made a pineapple upside down cake and took with to home. Everyone enjoyed it. I did not eat any as it looked too sweet.

Baby Boy Soldier got to call me again last night. He must be being a good boy. He got to talk 6 minutes last night. He said he receives so much mail from me that he had to do push ups for getting so much mail. I asked if I should quit sending so much, he said no way.

Bella bit the H*ll out of my hand yesterday when I TRIED to give her a bath. The entire top of my had is a mess. I am going to the doc this afternoon to get it looked at. I told DD I have had it with her and am putting her down. DD came over and got her. Hoping I will cool down.

I made the best guacamole' on Saturday. I meant to bring it into work but forgot. Will bring it tomorrow. Also made some delish pica. Sent the pica home with DD.

Well I have a blind date on March 13 with a friend of a friend of a friend. All friends are going, I will be meeting them at a restaurant. I think it sounds safe enough. I have seen his picture. He is 49, has DARK hair, no sausage fingers, not all that attractive, but hey, I am willing to give it a try. He has a job too! THat is the firstmost requirement these days.

Happy....Glad the new roof is done, lots quieter there now and the foot is feeling better. Taker er easy, not often we get to do that. What a weird dream, I have weird dreams when I am on pain killers.

Shad...somehow Aussie beer sounds way better than Japanese beer. It's all about alcohol here too.

MEL...Yum the margarita is just perfect and looks delish. Believe it or not I have been drinking Michlob Ultra beer lately.

Chelle...you get to exercising that fanny girl. Over indulging was NOT in the plan for this challenge. 214 is right around the corner. Do not miss the bus, my sista.

Hello's to all, cannot remember what was on the Feb site. Plus I need to get busy, as I am leaving for a doc appt this afternoon.

Love and hugs.

annie175 03-01-2010 11:04 AM

oh and yes Chelle, it could be perimeno.

diyana 03-01-2010 11:41 AM

Mel - I'll try and take a sinus pill when I get home. I don't have any here at work.

Annie - Sounds like a really nice get together in your momma's room. Too funny about your DS saying keep the letters coming even if it means pushups. When my ex-hubby was in the army, I sent him letters every day...and he told me back then he got the push up penalty. Sorry to hear about your hand. Is DD gonna keep Bella for awhile then? Hope your blind date on the 13th goes well. As for exercising...no worries...I'll get back to Zumba tonight. As for 214 being right around the corner...Not sure about that anymore. It may be a block or two away. I hope your doc appt goes well today. I've got fasting blood tests this Saturday and a doc appt next week...but if the dizziness doesn't go away, I may see the doc sooner.

annie175 03-01-2010 12:25 PM

Chelle...my momma used to call me "dizzy dean", cause I am such a goof. Maybe you have some of my dizzy dean syndrome. Try drinking extra water, you may be a but dehydrated which could cause dizziness. Sometimes we don't even know we are dehydrated. Try that. Hugs to you my sista. xoxox

diyana 03-01-2010 12:39 PM

Thanks, Annie! I thought you were gonna beat me with a :rollpin: for overindulging and being further away from 214 than I'd like. As for dehydration...it's definitely a possibility, but I've drank about 24 oz of water so far today...and plenty of water/Propel yesterday.

Laura705 03-01-2010 01:26 PM

Shad – Sorry the festival was a washout - and boo on the overly loud sound! I had a generally relaxing weekend, with no guests or entertaining. It always seems that when all you want to do is sack out in front of the tv, there's nothing good to watch. I did some reading insted. Keep warm!

Mel – "All's well when my end's well." LOL!!! You are too funny, woman! I missed you here and I'm glad you're feeling better!!! That margarita pic was about actual size on my screen, so it's just right!

Happy – Bf always says you get what you pay for. I don't always agree, but there are, however, too many contractors out there cutting corners, so it's great that you got one that gave you a very detailed quote that you could hold them to. I hope those goofy kids did a good cleanup job. We had windows/gutters/soffit & fascia work done a couple years ago and I kept finding debris every time I went outside the house. It's a miracle the dog didn't end up w/ something cutting his paw. I happen to think that most guys who start 2nd families are truly fools, but they wanted younger wives… Good luck w/ the gyne – will your injured foot even fit into stirrup, lol? Quite a dream – must be those pain killers! :D

Oh, and thanks for starting our new thread! I'll have a regular 'rita, no salt, thanks. Not usually something I drink, but maybe it's because the woman who makes them at book club never makes 'em strong enough!

Michelle – Sounds like a nice weekend you had. Maybe Mel's on the right track – you might have an ear infection? I thawed pot roast, but didn't get it going because I had to buy some of the veggies for it. Maybe today if bf gets it going soon enough...

Annie – Happy belated anniversary to your mom & dad. That's a lot of years! Bella must really hate baths. Coal is mostly resigned, once we get him get him hooked in to the tub (we go to a DIY place so we don't have a mess at home). Hope your hand is okay! LOL – too much mail earns extra pushups – guess he'll be in good shape! Pica and guac – yummy!

Hi Ceejay!

As I mentioned to Shad – my weekend was nice and quiet with no guests/entertaining. I did my state taxes on Sat. morning, so that's all done. Also trying to arrange a group of us HS friends to go to a theater show – wish me luck with agreeing on a date. Went on a couple dog walks. Didn't do gym cardio Sunday – did two BE workouts at home instead. Funny story about that is I decided I wanted to do a couple older BE workouts I had on VHS. The tape got stuck in the vcr (sitting unused for years) and I spent a good amount of time digging it out of there (thankfully intact). Then I went to hook up a vcr bf's aunt gave to us last year (when she bought a dvd player), but I discovered the power cord was missing! So of course I ended up doing the dvd workouts. Yesterday afternoon I ended up buying a "classics" Margaret Richards dvd (she's the Body Electric instructor – love her!) which is a combo of 4 of her workout videos originally released on vhs. A bit pricey, even w/ the 25% off sale – but it's 220 minutes of workouts, so it'll be good. Looking forward to getting it!!

Oh, I went to Kohl's Saturday and bought a couple sweaters, some socks, earrings and a pair of jeans. Used a gift card. I bought the jeans in the "long" size because all of my other jeans ("medium" length) are now too short on me. I don't know why - I never wear heels higher than 1". I'm 5'7", just shy of really needing to buy tall sizes, but a longer inseam is obviously necessary. Right now my new jeans are too long, but we'll see how many washes it takes to shorten them. Hopefully before they start fraying at the bottom! Another option might also be Land's End - I believe they sell women's jeans in different inseam lengths.

Okay, have to stop babbling and get back to work! Have a great day everyone!

OK...IT'S TIME TO CHILL OUT AND FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH OUR SHELLEY. MAYBE A DRINK OR TWO IS THE CURE WE'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR. FIX ALL THAT AILS THE WORLDLY CHICKS WHILE WE WAIT FOR SPRING!

"Nibblin' on sponge cake,
Watchin' the sun bake
All those tourists covered with oil.
Strummin' my six string, on my front porch swing.
The smell of the shrimp beginning to boil.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know it's nobody's fault.

Don't know the reason, been here all season,
Nothin' to show but this brand new tattoo.
But it's a real beauty, a Mexican cutie,
How it got here I haven't a clue.

Wasted away again in Margaritaville,
Searchin' for my lost shaker of salt.
Some people claim that there's a woman to blame,
But I know ****, it could be my fault."

ANNIE...THE "PARTY" AT MOM'S BEDSIDE SOUNDED NICE...62 YRSz!! GO MOM!! I BET SHE WAS THRILLED INSIDE. I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT BELLA RIPPING YOUR HAND OFF. MAYBE SHE'S WATCHING TOO MANY ACTION MOVIES. KILLER DOG STRIKES AGAIN!! YIKES!! IT MUST HAVE BEEN VERY PAINFUL AND I AM GLAD YOU'RE GOING TO THE DR. EVEN THEIR TOOTH TARTAR CAN CAUSE A NASTY INFECTION.

I WENT DOWN TO DO THE WEEKEND REPORTING AND THE SICK MAINT MAN IS STILL THERE! :faint: SO I TOSSED THE PATERS AND LEFT. HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT HOME. THERE IS A MEETING TOMORROW NIGHT...IF THERE IS ANYONE SICK ...I AM LEAVING PRONTO. SO FAR I HAVE EVADED THIS DEADLY GERM! MUST BE CAUSE I CAN "RUN" FAST :scooter:
HAVE A GREAT AFTERNOON :sunny:

OOPS...ALMOST FORGT WHY I CAME BACK....TOMORROW THERE IS FOOD SHOPPING AND ANOTHER STORM IS PREDICTED FOR TUES/WEDS. I MIGHT GO SHOPPING IN THE MORNING IN CASE THE TRADER JOE THURSDAY TRIP IS CANCELLED. I NEED SOME STUFF....PRODUCE MAINLY AND CAN'T WAIT ANOTHER WHOLE WEEK. ADIOS AMIGAS!

MELODY525 03-01-2010 01:57 PM

OK....WAITING PATIENTLY FOR LAURA'S POT ROAST :hun: LAST NIGHT I WROTE THAT DOWN ON THE SHOPPING LIST. NOW I CAN JUST TAKE MY DRINKS AND GO TO LAURA'S HOUSE!!! HOP YOU GET EVERYONE TO AGREE ON A DATE. MAYBE YOU CAN ALL GO ON THAT HS REUNION SHOW ON THAT TVLD CHANNEL. I CAUGHT A GLIMPSE OF THE LAST ONE. NICE SHOPPING SPREE...ESPECIALLY WITH GIFT CARDS! HOPE THE JEANS SHRINK UP NICE!!

diyana 03-01-2010 02:25 PM

Laura - So glad you had a nice weekend! How fun to go to a theater show with old friends! Good for you for doing all those BE workouts!! I'm really going to have to check those out. Glad you got some good deals at Kohl's! I hope your jeans shrink up just how you want them. Mine always shrink in the waistband and butt first. Or maybe that's just me gettin' bigger!

Mel - Don't you worry about me, Miss Mellie. I'll be fine. Just pour me another 'rita. I mentioned to a co-worker about the lightheadedness, and he said that some people have to pay lots of money for meds to feel like that...I should just relax and enjoy the freebie! You stay upstairs and party with us and stay away from all those sickies in the office. Hope you can find everything you need at the grocery store.

I'm leaving at 2 today. I normally leave at 3:30, but I came in 1.5 hours early to check reports that ran for the first time today. There were a couple issues...so it's a good thing I came in early. I got the issues fixed and no one is the wiser! ;)

annie175 03-01-2010 02:34 PM

Chelle...my hand/arm is too beat up from Hella to beat you. You get a "pass" for this past weekend on the rolling pin. This is the only pass you get. Don't get me angry and havta come there.

Laura...I am with you on the Rita's. No salt on the rocks. SHopping at Kohls, wish I'd known you were going there, that is where I buy my bras and I need some new ones. You could of picked some up for me.

MEL...man you are being hit hard with the snow...Yikes. We didn't get any that they predicted for the weekend. Honestly, I think it was too warm for it to snow. This weekend is supposed to be 50 by Sunday. Stay away from the sickos and have fun at Trader Joe's. THat place is expensive, eating healthly is expensive.

Later Gaters

annie175 03-01-2010 02:36 PM

MMMMM Rita's and Roast. Good combo. I think I am going to put Chili in the crock to plug in tomorrow.

ceejay52 03-01-2010 07:02 PM

wow you ladies are a talkative bunch, must be those maragarita's.

I'm at work. I've had a busy day and really glad every one has gone home. Finally some peace and quiet.

Annie
Ouch for the bite that Bella gave you. It was a wise decision to have the doctor take a look at it.

Happy
You sound better. Don't fret over the house work or even going to work as that matters. Think of this as a vacation.

Michelle
It's been awhile since I've been dizzy headed, but mine is usually from inner ear problems. Take it easy.

Shad, Laura, and Mel

Shad 03-02-2010 05:51 AM

Where's the day gone? Oh yes 12 hours in the office has a habit of taking away a lot of daylight hours.

Not much to report today. Things just go on and on and on and on.....

Wasted away in Margheriaville Mel. Not good news. Be one helluva headache when it wears off.

Lots of spring flowers in the avatars today. Are you all ready for spring up there?

I'm off to bed. I've had enough of today.

RISE AND SHINE CHICKLETTES!!

OK...SO I LIED....JEN AND RICHIE DECIDED TO GO SHOPPING LAST NIGHT. NOW ALL I HAVE IS THE MEETING AT 6PM. LOOKS LIKE WARMER WEATHER IS ON OUR HORIZON. 40'S TO ALMOST 50. NOT BAD FOR MARCH. I JUST HOPE TOMORROW'S STORM IS SHORT LIVED. I AM STILL FEELING A BIT "BRUISED" UP INSIDE. TAKING THE PEDALS SLOWLY. DON'T WANT TO START OFF THE BACKSIDE AGAIN  IF IT AIN'T ONE THING :tantrum:

MICHELLE~ YOUR DAY SOUNDED GREAT. PROBLEMS SOLVED AND HOME EARLY! "ENJOY THE FREEBIE"...THAT WAS TOO FUNNY. :lol3: :lol3: BUT I DO HOPE YOU FIGRE OUT WHAT IT IS. MY STEPMOM USED TO ASK ME "DIZZY? OR DIZZIER THAN USUAL?" SMART ALACK SHE WAS!

ANNIE...HEALTHY EATING IS EXPENSIVE...WHY IS THAT?? IF YOU EAT "RIGHT" YOU DON'T NEED A LOT OF CANS AND FANCY PACKAGING...SO IT SHOULD BE CHEAPER RIGHT?

CEEJAY~ WAVING BACK AT YA CEEJAY. I AGREE...ISN'T SILENCE WONDERFUL WHEN EVERYONE GOES HOME? I REALLY LOVE THOSE FIRST FEW MOMENTS. IT'S ALMOST LIKE UNPLUGGINGTHE WORLD

SHAD....SENDING A BIG  SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A GOOD DAY TO SEND YOU AN EXTRA ONE TOO  12 HRS IS A LONG TIME TO SPEND WITH BRUSHES!!! SLEEP WELL MY FRIEND :cloud9:

MELODY525 03-02-2010 08:46 AM

:coffee: GOOD MORNING MISS HAPPY.... IS THAT YOU I HEAR TIPTOEING TO THE PC???

annie175 03-02-2010 08:56 AM

Tuesday and I need tires on my car....bad...sad, at least I have the $$ for it, just cannot find the time to go get them on. Better do so or the $$ will be gone to something else.

Doc put me on a strong antibiotic for bitten hand and told me to get "rid" of the dog. Um, tears, don't know.

MELLIE...joining you this AM for java. Mine is decaf pumpkin spice nonfat latte' from Starbucks. Still using up a gift card. Dreading when it runs out and SB runs out of pumpkin spice. This is a refillable SB giftcard, but who the h*ll is going to refill if for me? How did the meeting go? Any sickies? Did you stay?

Shad...the secret to margaritaville and getting wasted is to never get "unwasted". lol Hence, no headache. Hi ho, hi ho, off to work Shaddie goes. on and on and on.....

Ceejay...I hear ya on the peace and quiet thing at work. That is why I come in 7:15-7:30, no one else arrives till 8-8:30 am. I can get more done in that one hour than the next 7 with everyone here.

Hi's to all. Gotta get off of here as some of the crew has shown up at 7:55, don't they know that is my time.

Love and hugs.

diyana 03-02-2010 11:01 AM

Happy Tuesday -

I wasn't dizzy or lightheaded by yesterday afternoon. Yay!! And if I don't meet Annie's weight loss challenge it won't be for lack of exercise that's for sure!! Yesterday, I got home early and decided to do a little Wii Fit before going to the gym. I did all the fun and "silly" fitness games - like snowball fight, table tilt, obstacle course, etc. Hard to explain in words. I was careful not to get worn out or sore because I knew I had several classes at the gym. So in addition to the 1/2 hour of Wii Fit, I did 1/2 hour of strength training and 1 hour of Zumba. Tonight is just 1/2 hour of Zumba.

Looking forward to this weekend!! I'm taking Friday off for a me day (though I may switch it to next Friday). And it's supposed to get up to the mid-40s!! :woohoo: Break out the shorts!! This weekend is a fishing expo and a dog show. DH prefers one and I prefer the other...I'm sure we'll come to a good compromise. :)

Annie - Glad the doc got you on antibiotic for your hand. I'd have a hard time giving the little sh*t up, even if she does bite when she's pissed off. I hear ya' about getting wasted in rita ville...keep it flowing! DH said when he and his buddies were in their early 20s, they actually tried staying buzzed for 4 days to see if they could keep the hangovers at bay. He says it didn't work...and they really paid for it.

Mel - Do you have a blender? If not, I'll bring mine. I prefer my ritas blended with a little salt on the rim. You take it easy today and rest your insides.

Ceejay - Glad you had a peaceful afternoon/evening. That's why I enjoy coming into work as early as I do. I usually get at least an hour or two of quiet before the hoards arrive.

Shad - Hope you don't have to pull too many 12 hour days. Those get old pretty quickly.

Happy - How did the doc appts go? Hope you do okay at work. Remember, keep your foot elevated and minimize the walking around.

I'd better get back to it.

Much love and many hugs my friends,

happy2bme 03-02-2010 11:11 AM

Good morning everybody,

Though I have never been wasted away in Margaritaville, I have floated on many an alcohol cloud  but that was then and a long time ago. Could not go back to those days now. In fact a silly pain pill pretty much takes me down. But there is something to be said for a few rounds of silliness with good friends

Went to the docs yesterday. All female parts still attached and semi working. Poor DH had to go with me as I am still quite gimpy. He had to sit in a room full of chattery women, most of which were pregnant for well over an hour. He just buried himself in his book and went to his happy place  Then I saw the foot doctor in the afternoon. He took the cast off and I got a good look at my foot. It looked yellow (Bentadine wash) and somewhat fragile. I am glad to see the big ganglian cyst is gone - the other night I nudged the blanket to cover my foot and was met with intense pain - thought I popped the tendon again. Doc said he talked to me after surgery but I was pretty out of it - duh yeah ... maybe they should have called DH in so that someone was listening and caring - you think? :chin: :listen:  Anyway he did explain what he did - ok, I typed it out but reading it back I decided to delete it in case someone is squeemish - let's just say he did alot to the foot and it has every right to be whiny and painful :D But it's looking good and I think while it will be slow going for quite a while yet, I am on the mend.

Bummer on the tires Annie - I thought you just put a big repair on your car about 6 months ago. Was thinking tires but I guess I was wrong. At least the money is there. As for Hella, that's a tough call - sounds like she is pretty aggressive and that's not a good thing. And you can get a pretty nasty infection from a pet bite - my aunt was hospitalized for a week for what at first seemed an innocent but deep cat bite or scratch. I know it's your pet and I would have mixed feelings myself but depending on how aggressive she is, you have to consider your safety and those who might be around her. As for bras, everyone is having sales now - online and in the stores - time to stock up! And lastly a very happy belated anniversary and congratulations to your parents - it's really wonderful to see someone still together for that long! :grouphug:

Good morning Miss Mel. Thanks for putting a fresh pot of coffee on. Smells wonderful and tastes just as good! I hope the advancing storm peters out in Pennsylvania before it hits you. Enough of winter, let's get into spring time! Happy produce shopping - let us know what you picked up.

Shad - twelve hour work days are enough to dull out anyone. That's one thing I think I'd not like about being a consultant. Especially when you are working far from home - nothing else to do but go back to the hotel or flat so it makes for long days on a short assignment. I don't envy you your life! What to do now that you are finished with the carbon brushes?

Ceejay - I'm with you. I rather enjoy the peace and quiet of the office when no one is around. Like Annie and Michelle, it makes coming in early worth the effort. Meant to ask you if your Rav4 was one of the many models Toyota had a problem with? Our cars are older models so we escaped that fiasco. I am a little disappointed in Toyota though - they way they handled this is out of character for the way I have known them up until now.

Michelle - two hours of exercise yesterday???? I know you like those endorphins but it's that a little rough on your back? I'm sure it's hard to beat the excitement of feeling good after being down for a while but just make sure you don't overdo it! Not sure what to say about the dizziness other than to agree with the others about unexplained vertigo or sinus issues that affect the inner ear. If it doesn't go away naturally in a few weeks then maybe you should get it checked out although that is one of those symptoms that seem to baffle doctors.

Laura - you made a good point on the jeans. I buy petites (when I can find them) and at first they are fine but as time goes on and the flood waters rise, so it seems do my pants  And the averages are just too long. And I do not have the cute long thin legs to roll up my jeans (did I mention that cuffs are the downfall of short people  ) It never occured to me to think that they shunk just a little bit each time they got washed. Yay on finding the Margaret Richards DVDs. So worth it I think if you like an instructor's style. I feel the same about Gaiam DVDs with Anna Cabon doing Pilates. Or Susanne Deason with yoga.

Bargoo - I'm sure there's a way to come up with some sort of lower carb frozen margarita. Probably the alchohol is the biggest calorie demon but we can dream, can't we?

Ok, well I am working from home this week. Still not able to comfortably get around on the foot and the doc said it would be best to rest it as much as I can. So it's back to my reports. Have a good day everybody.

Happy - Such a good DH to take you to the gyne appt! Whenever I've had surgery, the doc has always called DH or whoever was with me in to explain what was done, so that someone remembers. Sorry he had to do so much for your foot...but glad you realize it's going to be SLOW GOING!! Now does that mean, Miss Happy, that you will TAKE IT SLOW and give yourself TIME to heal? And listen to your doc to REST it as much as you can? :rollpin: Thanks for your concern about my back...actually it did pretty well. There was just a little soreness (good soreness) after the workouts, so I put some Ben Gay type rub on it. My back and quad are a little sore today...but nothing bad. I won't overdo it, I promise. I am so, so glad you're working from home this week! I was really worried about you trying to go in to work as I know it's difficult to set up a work environment so that it's conducive to healing (e.g., feet propped up, limited walking, etc.).

Annie - Bummer about needing new tires...but better to get them sooner rather than risk a flat or blow out, especially since you have the $$.

annie175 03-02-2010 02:14 PM

Happy...yes indeed, I did have a repair about 6 mos ago. The windshield wiper motor thingy, that Tony paid for. Do I need to pay him back?

Chelle...glad you made it through the work out with minimal back pain. Look out 214 here comes Chelle.

Laura705 03-02-2010 03:40 PM

Quick hello to everyone. Busy as heck today, and now I've got a software demo that's been scheduled and rescheduled. Sigh. Not going to the movies tonight. I didn't vote and "The Last Station" ended up being chosen. It's an Oscar-nominated movie about Tolstoy. I'm sure it's well done, but I'm just not very interested in seeing it.

Okay, I'll have to catch up later. Have a good day/rest of the day everyone!

ceejay52 03-02-2010 04:49 PM

The wind is still a bit nippy. brrrr

I'm at work so I'll make this short. More later.

Happy Hump Day ladies -

I sure as heck hope my scale at home is wrong. It says I've gained over a pound this week, and that just CAN'T be right. With all the exercise I'm doing, I KNOW I'm burning more calories than I'm taking in. Oh well, I'm not gonna stress about it. I'm just hoping the WW scale tomorrow is more kind than my scale at home. Sheesh!! I will be a bit p*ssed off if I don't reach Annie's goal for me of 214. I'm working my arse off in terms of exercise, and my eating has been on plan. At least my belly muscles feel a little tighter...I've still got all the rolls, muffin tops and loaves of bread around my waist and stomach...but all the "bread products" are a bit firmer!

Last night was an "easy" night...just 1/2 hour of Zumba. Gosh, I have SO much fun doing those dances!! Tonight, a Zumba classmate and I are trying the 1 hour ADVANCED Zumba. It will likely kill us, so if I'm not here tomorrow, that's why. Instead of Death by Chocolate, it'll be Death by Zumba. :lol3:

Laura - I hope today is a bit more sane at work for you. I haven't heard of "The Last Station", but I heard Ebert's pick for Best Picture is "The Hurt Locker". Have you seen that movie?

Ceejay - Stay warm, girlfriend. :brr:

Mel - Hope you and Jen feel better soon! I sometimes get headaches brought about by change in weather and the onset of storms.

Happy - Are you keeping your foot propped up and iced? Don't make me come down there! :rollpin:

Annie - Please don't be mad if I don't make 214 by the 11th. I'm trying, girlfriend. I'm really trying!

A big  to all!!

I'll check back in later...right now, I need a cup of coffee. :coffee:

Lots of love and hugs,

annie175 03-03-2010 09:24 AM

Chelle, Chelle, Chelle....I will not be mad, my friend. I am really happy that you are putting the effort into it. You will still ROCK, my sista. No negative....and your surprise will just move to the next challenge....I am dreaming it up now. Be ready....AND THIS CHALLENGE IS NOT OVER YET. HUGS...

MELLIE....I am thinking just open all the windows in that building and air the dang place out. Too much sickie going on. Have a smooth sailing day, chickie.

Hey Ceejay, Laura, Shaddie, Happy, et al.

Love and hugs

Annie

diyana 03-03-2010 09:34 AM

Annie - You are right...this challenge is NOT over yet. I'm not throwing in the towel. And who knows maybe my home scale is way wrong - I didn't get a chance to weigh myself on the Wii Fit this morning which is more accurate than my old digital scale. Your suggestion to Mel of opening all the windows sounds divine!! I may just do that this weekend for a couple hours since it's supposed to warm up to the mid 40s!! :)

happy2bme 03-03-2010 09:59 AM

Good morning chicks,

They are teasing us. Supposed to get to the 60's this weekend but there will be a little suffering before pleasure and it's freezing out there this morning. Just gathering the trash up - brrrrrrrr.

I'm not sleeping well at all. I am a night owl by nature and I'd rather sleep during the day. I do find right now that at some point in the afternoon I have to sit in the recliner and rest my foot up. Of course it's warm and snuggly and sleep inducing  I usually doze for an hour. Then I'm wide awake at 1:30am and don't want to get up at 7. I've got to flip this as I probably will have to go back into the office next week and can't be walking around like zombie land even if I do have the shuffle down pat :D

Michelle - I'm sure you will make your challenge goal. You've been hitting the floor hard and sometimes like the printer at work that knows to die just when you are trying to run the frantic reports, the body will just shut down a sec and not let you through :snooty: I'm sure you will break that goal, hoping for exciting news for you on the scale tomorrow! I'm sure with all the twists and dance moves that each Zumba class mixes it up a bit so it's not like your body thinks it's doing the same stuff. Maybe it's time for a bit of strength work twice a week or so? My crazy buddy at work used to bring a dumbell in and do arm curls while she was working support calls on the phone - get it in any way you can she said

Mel - here's hoping for just a sprinkle tinkle of rain on your side of the road and no downpours. Hope you feel better - sorry to hear it's hit Jen hard. Good weather and good feelings can't come soon enough

Annie - no you don't have to pay T back for the car repair. I'm sure in People's Court that definitely would be ruled as a gift

Laura - The Hurt Locker is getting alot of press right now, looked like an interesting movie. Did you see The Blind Side? Good luck with your demo.

I'm kind of excited. We'll be headed up to Chicago for a long weekend the end of June. DH is very very into the blues (music) and Eric Clapton is having a concert will at least 20 blues musicians. An all day thing to benefit a drug rehab program in Antigua. Awesome list of performers including ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, John Mayer, Keb 'Mo and of course Eric himself. I know DH wanted to go but of course the tickets sold out in probably 10 minutes when they went up for sale. Apparently there is a thriving business in which people snarf up the tickets and then go and sell them on the resale market for 2 to 50 times the ticket price. Considering that there are over 4,000 tickets on the aftermarket website, do you think this is the case? We were talking last night and I asked him why he wasn't going. I told him how to get tickets and next thing I know we were researching seats and boom we are going. Got some good tickets too. DH is getting the last of a small inheritance from his Dad's house. Most of the money is going to pay for the roof and house repairs but there's just a small bit left for us to have a nice vacation and the cherry on the cake, this concert. We will only be in Chicago 4 days or so, not alot of time to actually get around and see everyone - it's always a bummer to decide how to stretch the vacation days. And after driving 8 hours to get up there, it's always such a L-O-N-G drive to get anywhere up there - particularly with traditional road summer construction everywhere. Geez have I been away long enough  Anyway, something to look forward to. And DH got us seats not far from the ladies room. Since we will be there about 12 hours, he figured that would help me out - does he know me or what? :D

Anyway - gots to get back to work now. Hellos to Shad and Ceejay and Patty.

diyana 03-03-2010 10:32 AM

Happy - Ahhhh, 60s! I can't wait 'till those temps get up here! Probably at least a month or two away...for now, I'll settle for the mid 40s. :) I'm sure your sleep schedule will adjust next week when you're not allowed to take afternoon naps at your desk. The first couple days might be rough...but just do zombie shuffle in the meantime, which btw is a move in my Zumba classes! So you're doing Zumba too, girlfriend!! I usually do strength training on Mondays and Thursdays, perhaps I need more than 1/2 hour of strength training on those days. I'm even working on incorporating core stuff (crunches and planks, etc.) into daily workouts. Perhaps more of those? A Clapton concert in June! What a lovely long weekend to look forward to!! I just checked a ticket broker for tickets - my DH would love that concert too. It's a little too pricey for us at this point...so I don't think we'll be able to do that this summer. :( We saw Clapton years ago at Dodger Stadium. It was awesome!! I'm sure you and DH will have a great time!!

annie175 03-03-2010 11:23 AM

Happy...would you say you are JAZZED about the BLUES....lol
