green menopausal shoes in the pasture

just to throw you off,i have started a new thread---that way i won't have to read the blathering of last week---- i must start fresh on my nervous breakdown---i have been working on it all summer and feel it is fast approaching----wabby---join the gym----i think i may join one this fall to work out all my depressive behaviour:o

Darling_Peaches 08-03-2002 11:29 PM

Bagzie, please don't be depressive. I depend on you for cheerfulness as well Christmas displays. I am the one who may be depressed as school starts in FOUR DAYS. Herbie has hurt his back carrying suitcases in North Carolina and DS is communicating through grunts. uhn. One of my cats truly loves me so I guess I'm not a complete loss but BOY IS HIS BREATH BAD!!! *kiss* *kiss*

Bagzz 08-04-2002 09:57 PM

thank you peachbuns----as soon as i recover,i will commence researching my hallowe'en displays---i think that may cheer me up----is the herbmeister able to carry you over thresholds to the various time shares????? how old is ds==== dd's don't grunt---they seeth and hiss and sometimes blat.Cats are delightful, except when they knead.

Kiwonk 08-05-2002 02:09 AM

No, I don't think so

I'm not getting a puppy; I have all I can handle right now with the deaf, half blind and tottering old girl I have now. She needs a lot of TLC.

Bagz, you're wrong. Whatever--you wanted me to disagree with you, didn't you? I'm glad your weekend went swimmingly. You're a fab hostess; I knew you'd rise to the occasion. Thank goodness they were worth it! Are the kids clearing out now too?

DH and I spent the weekend on the boat. It was quite lovely. We had a great sail on Saturday, did lots of relaxation the rest of the time. It was really nice to spend the weekend ALONE for a change ;) And we discovered a wonderful and easy way to have great margaritas -- Jose Cuervo margaritas in a bottle, already mixed. Very yummy. One bottle is just about enough for 2 for an evening. :s:

DD got home from her camping/concert festival weekend really late tonight -- that's why I'm posting at 2 am; she just went to bed. She had to tell me lots of the fun things that went on over the weekend. She had a great time.

Sorry to hear that we overworked Herbie in NC. I feel responsible. Okay, not really. Too bad DS has to go back to school so soon. I hope he likes high school. DD still has almost a month to adjust before going back.

just bumping this to the top!

Am I hip with the internet lingo or what?

I have so much to say, but my house is such a pit that I MUST tidy up.

While we were on holiday they put up a "no parking" sign right in front of our house. Where I've parked my car for the past 6 years. I mean, really. The Guy in Charge of Traffic Signs hasn't called dh back yet to tell him the meaning of this. We are outraged (sort of). Oh yeah, some bonehead also stole the star off of dh's Mercedes (an ancient yellow 1985 model - nothing like Wabby's). Is nothing sacred any more? Guard your star with your life, Wabby!

What should I make for dinner? Oh, I forgot, by the time you guys get up, dinner is practically over for me.

Hi Daphne! I like your avatar.

Kiwonk 08-05-2002 11:55 AM

Hi Sugar

I guess you've clawed your way out from under the laundry pile, eh? I have a friend who got so incensed when the town put a sign in front of her house, that she actually pulled it out of the ground and got rid of it! She considered it totally unnecessary -- it was just 2 little strips with the name of campgrounds or something and an arrow. It was always very amusing to listen to her rant. No Parking is a whole different thing though; seems like they'd have to have a good reason to ban parking in front of your house. Did you guys p*** off someone in town management?

I have nothing to say. I'm just avoiding housework.

Wabby 08-05-2002 01:05 PM

Grrrr

Sugar P, the city put up a no parking sign on the street that I had been parking on for a year while I went walking. I didn't notice the sign until after I'd gotten a ticket. And the person at the city wouldn't give me any slack and made me pay it even though I felt I'd been had. Anyway, the point to this long tirade is that I have no point and I feel your pain. :dizzy:

Bagzie, I knew you'd rise to the occasion and be a wonderful hostess and have a wonderful time with your guests. You're much too gracious to do otherwise. And don't feel guilty about grousing a little. You had a right. I can't wait to hear about your Halloween displays. Maybe I should decorate for the occasion too. It would give my life focus.

DH has started his rodeo diet. The one he goes on every August so that he can fit into his tight fittin' rodeo jeans. I'm forced to participate just because I feel too guilty eating like the porker I am when he's being so good and he is only a teeny bit overweight. So now I'll be forced to be sneaky if I want to eat. :s:

I got a lovely postcard from Kiwi. My DS is ready to pack his bags and head for that beach. It looks like it may even be warm enough there to go in the water. That never happens in Oregon.

Peachy, why would you not look forward to school? I always breathed a sigh of relief when the kiddos were back in school and someone else could be responsible for a few hours of their day.

Kiwi had a romantic weekend with her DH!!!! I can read between the lines!:D

Hey Daphne! We need to give you a name! You're too sweet to be called dabratt and Daphne is just too ordinary for this bunch o cows. Lush needs to get back here and give you a name.

Bagzz 08-05-2002 01:58 PM

Thank you darlings for your support---i still feel guilty for ranting, but now that i actually feel i KNOW the people, you would lOVE the wife--she is just like us,she feels her house is messy and she has gained weight----she is not fat,but she is complaining about our apron gut---and her house likely isn't that messy---so she's just about perfect----she probably likes me too, unless she finds my grousing post and realizes i am just a raving BAT in disguise---since you all know of my battish ways, you are all forgiving---for this i bow down in homely gratitude----Kiwonk---sailing away with not a care all weekend---sounds so divine------sigh-------as for the NO PARKING sign!!!!! I vote you just remove it like Kiwi's friend--do it late at night and keep doing it until they stop replacing it----after all --someone stole your star!!!!! it must be possible to steal unnoticed!!!! wabby-----i admire your neverending devotion to dieting---i can't bear to think about it right now----we still have one of the girls here for another week---two older ones had to go back early for school stuff----summer seeems so loooooooooooong this year---- i love the autumn---------------

Kiwonk 08-05-2002 06:14 PM

Yes, indeed, Wabbit, you could definitely swim in that water. It was about 80 deg in the water! Absolutely gorgeous. The perfect swimming temperature--not cool enough that you have to get used to it, not so hot that it's not refreshing. The girls stayed in it for hours every day.

 I'm just thinking about being a BAT and a COW. What a combination. ;)

Kiwonk 08-05-2002 06:15 PM

SUGAR!!

You're a hamster!!! You're adorable!!

Cherry Cow 08-05-2002 07:42 PM

BatCow

BatCow, BatCow, alone in the world is a little BatCow.

Anyway, Bagzie, I'm glad you had a good visit with your friends! I'm that way before every entertaining opportunity, but I usually enjoy it once the people are there.

Sugar P, you're out from your laundry!

Wabby, what kind of diet is your DH doing?

Hi Peachie and Kiwi and Big Cow and Daphne! And Lushie, if you're lurking.

I am watching Harry Potter for the third time in three days. Fun.

Well, my measurements are improving, but my weight is still high. I'm trying a new diet. I made it up myself. I'm calling it the Basic Training diet, because it's based on how I ate in (you guessed it) Basic Training. Three meals a day, two glasses of water before each meal, no snacking. Treats and cola are okay, but can only be eaten with a sensible meal. We'll see if that helps make a difference. I tend to graze all day, rather than eat real meals.

My six-day-a-week workout schedule is going well... my legs are always tired, though. I hope that ends soon!

Ciao!

Bagzz 08-06-2002 08:10 AM

Boy am i glad that CHERRY is a regular again!!!!!THANK YOU CHERRY!!!! with the exception of Sugarbuns{working out on machines}and wabby--walking,dieting and surgery-ing---the rest of the BatCows are like MEEEEEEEEEEE---all whine and NO weightloss----it's time for a CHALLENGE {come September of course}---KIWI----YOU WRITE UP THE CHALLENGE---YOU ARE A MANAGER TYPE COW!!!!!!!! Peachbuns has to start walking the DuckHudda Pond again---someone post some GOOD TASTY SALAD ideas----everything is FRESH right now----xoxoxo BOSSYBAT-COW

dabrat 08-06-2002 12:08 PM

:cbg: I love the new little whatevers. :stress:

Bagzz I want a September challange that is a great idea! I had to add 5 pounds tomy weigh because I have been oh so bad this summer.:hat: I had chocolate covered cherries for breakfast. Cherry is a fruit and chocolate is a dairy right? I really need that challange.

Cherrycow I must ask why Harry Potter so many times? I saw it one time and that was enought for me. I admit I did have 3 neighbor kids with me and my DH and DS and DSD. I amy not have the best attention span. What exercising are you doing? I was walking 2 miles a day but kinda stopped it when kids got out of school.
Kiwonk with Batcow name I think of nunaa nunaa nunaa nunaa BATCOW! I want to go to the beach I havn't been in almost 4 years. Not since just before my divorce.

SugP what is going on with that sign? I loved hearing about everyones signs. I like the idea of taking itout each time they put one up. I bet it is great kindling! It the house all nice and clean? I have been working on mine but keep getting sidetracked.

Wabby what is the rodeo diet? I love a man in tight wranglers! How fun and sexy! Are you in Oregon? I am in Longview and love the Oregon beaches. Seaside and Longbeach are my favorites. I get to go at the end of the month with DH, his 2 kids, and his parents. Wow fun for me?

Darling Peaches School starting? Wow it doesn't start here until September 4th. I can not wait! I want time to be alone without kids around or DH! I am very selfish whe it comes to my time alone.

Hope you all have a great day! Daphne
:dancer: :moo:

Wabby 08-06-2002 01:14 PM

The rodeo diet

is really not a diet. It's just DH behaving himself and eating like his cardiologist tells him to all the time. Fish, chicken, very little red meat. Boiled, broiled or poached. All you want veggies and fruit. Limit the starches. 1 beer or glass of wine a day. He stays away from the fast food joints and eats pretzels and air pop popcorn for snacks.

Daphne, yep, I'm a webfoot.

Cherry, I hope your legs get over being tired too. After a couple years of me walking every morning, mine never did. I haven't been walking for 2 months now. My legs are no longer tired. I'm so bad.

Don't ya love the new smilies???:cb:

Kiwonk 08-06-2002 01:49 PM

Wow, this is so exciting -- a whole passel of new nutty smilies! :cp: Who needs words when you can :fr: and  !! Yippee!

Okay, I'm a little confused, Brattie, You don't mind if I call you Brattie, do you? ;) Are you divorced and remarried, or are you going to the beach with your ex? How old are your kids? Inquiring minds want to know. :sp:

I will compile everyone's lifestyle and dieting orders later, if you don't mind, Bagz. I have to take DD to her guitar lesson (of course that involves 2 hours+ of driving :stress: ) and then we are going an hour the other direction to take some friends out to dinner whose stepfather died. That'll be cheery. Won't be back til late, so what else is new....

While on our lengthy sailing trip in July, I was appointed boat marinator due to my abilities to make salad dressings and marinades out of next to nothing. So here is an idea for you Bagz:
 Cut chunks of an orange into little pieces, leaving enough orange in the peel to squeeze plenty of juice as well (maybe half chunks/half juice). Add olive or other oil and salt and pepper to the juice, whisk thoroughly. Pour over romaine lettuce or what have you. Chop up some walnuts and add those and orange bits to salad and toss. This was actually quite yummy. We had no bottled dressing, vinegar or lemon juice on board (hey, it wasn't my boat!) and that's what I came up with. Everybody loved it.

I love these smiley things!

The 3fcs are the BEST!

:cb: :cb: :cb: :cb: :cb:

Our no parking sign is made of metal as is customary here on the continent. It's round with a blue background and a red diagonal stripe through it which means you can stop for a minute but you can't park. Real no-nonsense no parking signs have a big read x through the circle. Go figure. I suppose I could feign ignorance and tell them that foreigners don't know these things. I don't know why they don't just write "Parken Verboten" on it? Everyone understands that.

I'm going to bed early for a change. Wish me luck.

dabrat 08-06-2002 07:19 PM

Sorry to have been confusing Kiwonk. I left my ex 3 1/2 years ago. We we to the beach in September 98 and I left December 98. That was my last beach trip. I met cuttent DH online in March 99 moved in right away with him. I moved from Gresham Oregon to Renton Washington. We got married this last Valentines day.
My son Tony is 15 and lives with his Dad * my ex*.

Jason my DH has 2 kids.

Megan is 10 and is a special needs child. She is developmentally delayed, more like a 1 to 1 1/2 year old, is Epileptic her disorder is called Lenox Gausteau Syndrom, , has A typical Retts syndrom.

Her brother Robert is 7. He is a typical kid but has a mouth and attitude with it. He will threated kids that are 14 and not back down. He is in behavior threapy due to his anger. Robert is spending the summer in Cali. with the grandparents. I needed the break from him. He also loves to lie and cause major crap in the family. He spent 3 hours with his birth monster and said how mean we were to him and Megan, yadda yadda, yadda. She was mad at us and wanted the kids to live with Jasons parents. Well just Robert not Megan. I was angry at the part about her threating us legally but more so at her not even wanting Megan down there and neither of the kids with her. She walked out on the kids when Robert was 3 months old. She has seen him maybe 10 times since then. Jason moved from Cali to Washington 5 years ago. When he was closer to the monster she still didn't want the kids. I get to deal with Roberts anger at all of that.
OK did I bore ya all to death?
Have a fun night! Daphne

Cherry Cow 08-07-2002 01:17 AM

I watched Harry Potter again tonight. My DS2 (who is 6) is utterly fascinated with the movie. My older son at the same age watched nothing but Wizard of Oz.

I stunned myself by doing a hard tape yesterday even though I thought my legs were too tired. Tonight is a repeat run and yoga. Yay!

Sugar P, I love your hamster! Too cute!

Wabby 08-07-2002 01:25 PM

I confess

OK, cowsies. You're not gonna believe this. I've been avoiding the scale for a few weeks. You know me. Either I live on the thing, or I avoid it like the plague. Well, I'm up to 158. Do we all remember a couple months ago when I was 145????:stress: :stress: :stress: :stress: :stress: I really and truly can't believe I've done it again. So today I'm starting the food diary again. 1 banana, lowfat granola bar & skim milk latte for breakfast. I'll keep you posted boringly absolutely to tears.

God knows there's no way I can fit into those dang western jeans now.

Whew! Brattie! I'm still a little lost, but I think I've got the basic story right. You definitely have your hands full.

Cherry you are my inspiration.

Kiwi, I'm going to try your salad. Sounds yummy.

Parken verboten? Geez. I'd stay away from that. Why does the german language sound so serious?

Anyone ever listened to Eva Cassidy? I bought a cd after my friend raved and raved about her. I give it a thumbs up.:)

Kiwonk 08-07-2002 07:11 PM

Ah feel your pain, yassah do.
Go ahead, bore me silly.

Wabby 08-07-2002 07:16 PM

You asked for it

Lunch was a subway 6" sandwich. No mayo. No cheese. Then a demon made me eat the Nutrageous bar that someone had left here. Now why did I do that? I'm so weak. Dinner will be chicken stir fry w/ lots of veggies.

dabrat 08-08-2002 12:01 PM

Oh Wabby I have re read your post and finally figured what the candy bar was!! I was at first reading nutragena bar. I have no idea why I was such a dork. MMMmmmMMMMmmmm but they are so dang good! Did you stickw ith that dinner? Daphne

Kiwonk 08-08-2002 12:08 PM

More good food

Now, I don't know if this qualifies as good diet food in many people's book because of all the carbs, but it's certainly low fat and very satisfying. Last night I made spaghetti with fresh (raw) tomato sauce:

 For one serving:

Cut up half a ripe tomato into little chunks, put in a small bowl, seeds, juice and all. Sprinkle with a reasonable amount of salt for one serving. Slice up a scallion and add to tomato, along with some basil and parsley. Stir it up and allow it to sit for a while to bring more juice out of the tomato.

Cook spaghetti or fettucini. Nice big serving of it. Drain. Now, remove the tomato juice into a cup or small bowl and add an equal amount of olive oil to it. Whisk it up till it thickens a bit, pour back in with tomatoes and dump the whole mess on top of your serving of pasta. Sprinkle with carloads of grated romano or parmesan and eat. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Kiwi

Wabby 08-08-2002 01:00 PM

Well.....

I don't know if that qualifies as diet food, but it sure sounds yummy!! I did eat that healthy stir-fry for dinner, then DS asked if I'd make him some oatmeal cookies. They had white chocolate chips and pecans. I was weak again. I'm back on the wagon this morning. I'm just going to concentrate on eating healthy food if I just have to eat, but I can have as much fruit or veggies as I want. Whattya think? I just can't stand the thought of going hungry. Not that I really know what that is.

My lil sis and I are going to try out the gym on monday evening. :strong: Maybe we'll get really buff. Ha. Check out my new self portrait.

Kiwonk 08-08-2002 02:19 PM

Super-Piggie? OinkenBuff?

I'm feeling more like that little white poofy dancing thing I put in my post. What is that, anyway?

Bagzz 08-08-2002 07:07 PM

i am going to eat Nutragena Soap Bars like Wabby so I can lose weight quicker--all those suds I will be upchucking should help.---KIWONKERS!!!! all your recipes sound DIVINE!!!! the tomato recipe you listed is something we make here except for one thing---While the tomatoes are resting in the bowl,we add a hole round of Brie Cheese{with the skin cut off} The cheese absorbs the basil taste and when you pour the hot pasta on it ,it melts-----------FABulous!!!!!!!!!!also add carloads of fresh parmesan as you instructed!---I am already to diet in september,i cannot understand why wabby wants to start so SSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOON!!!!

Bagzz 08-08-2002 07:08 PM

I meant a WHOLE round of Brie---or Camembert if you please!

Kiwonk 08-09-2002 02:20 AM

Well, we all know who's gonna win THAT one hands down, eh, Bagzie?:flame: Did you know that the Prep H in Canada is the original one and the one sold in the U.S. is missing some important secret ingredient like shark liver oil? :stress: Poor US chicks.

Well, I just took the test and have completely lost my appetite. Thank you, Kiwi! I really mean that!:D

Bagzz 08-09-2002 08:43 AM

KIWONKERS IS BONKERS!!!! I LOVED THE TEST---and of course i got ONE HUNDRED percent!!!! maybe i should be a butt doctor----my favourite is----the colon works best with--------"Windows 98" ahahahahahahahah hhs hhs hhs hhs hhs {anyone remember what hhs means???}i even knew about the shark liver oil---!!!!!!AHAHAHAHAHA

Kiwonk 08-09-2002 11:58 AM

Sure thing

Anytime I can make you lose your appetite, I'm right on that.

I tried to start one of those online diary things, but I discovered I have nothing to say. Pretty sad, huh? Of course you all could have told me that, I'm sure

La famille is going sailing today and I'm not. I'm going to stay home and rent A Beautiful Mind, finally. Maybe some other movies. I have invites to go visit people at their camps (cottages on the lake for you civilized folks), but I may just dis them all and sit in a darkened room eating popcorn and entertaining my brain until it fizzles out. :hat:

Wabby 08-09-2002 12:29 PM

Something for Marcella and Letty

Didya know Prep H works great as an eye cream? Put it around your eyes to get rid of that morning puffiness that we get after too many glasses of bubbly.

I've been a complete failure at trying to control my eating. I think I'm nutz. I brought those oatmeal cookies to work so that the guys here would eat them up. All the guys were already out working when I got to the office so I ate 3 cookies myself. And the reason I'm trying to get it under control now is that by September, if DH keeps losing and I keep gaining, I'm going to weigh more than him! :fr:

Bagzz 08-09-2002 01:43 PM

i did my weights to the new BRUCE album--then i had two pieces of toast, and later i had two toasted tomato sandwiches and a piece of my homemade apple pie-----i am just like wabby---one step forward and you know the rest---WHERE IS THE PEACH-PIT???

Wabby 08-09-2002 06:45 PM

See yas, cows. I'm off for a weekend at the vroom!vroom! drag strip. DH has finally got his car running right. (After lots of $$$$ and sweat.) They do serve Mike's hard lemonade and corndogs there. My favorite diet food. We're taking the motorhome and so are lots of our friends, so it will just be a motorhead weekend.

Hey! Frappe sent me her new email address! I didn't have time to send her an email, but I expect you all to badger her into coming back here. (I see she sent her address to youz guys too.)

Cherry Cow 08-10-2002 04:16 AM

I told her we miss her on 3FC. That'll be enough convincing, right?

Berrypie 08-10-2002 05:57 PM

It's really Frappe

I couldn't register as Frappe because the name was already taken. It might have been by me, but it was so long ago that I can't remember my password and I've changed my email, etc. so I just picked a new name out of the fridge.

I'm still in Montreal but we are moving to North Carolina sometime between now and next Aug. My kids are still making me nuts, my dog still loves me, my house is still a mess (despite Flylady and good intentions...I don't seem to be able to FLY).

The BEST news is that DH and I did a 30 day fruit & veggie juice fast and I lost 30lbs which I have kept off for months now. I still need to lose 10-15 lbs but I am definitely NOT FAT. I make everyone tell me how thin I look, about 40 times a day. Obsessed? C'est possible.

Do I have to go back and read all this nonsense for months and months to get caught up? Can you give me the Cliffs Notes version?

See, no begging was needed. A mere invitation, and here I am!
love and kisses

SugP 08-11-2002 05:19 AM

Hallelujah, Frappe's back!

Hi Frappe! 30 lbs? What a woman. You must weigh less than Letty and Marcella.

Doesn't Kiwi have relatives in NC? That should be a culture shock compared to Montreal, eh? But at least you'll be able to get decent food instead of all that French stuff.

Glad you're back. We missed you!
