Cake Recipe
This is from Hungry Girl...
HG's Yum Yum Chocolate Cake PER SERVING (1 slice, 1/12th of cake): 181 calories, 3.5g fat, 357mg sodium, 37g carbs, 2g fiber, 20g sugars, 2g protein -- POINTSŪ value 4* Ingredients: One 18.25-oz. box devil's food cake mix One 15-oz. can pure pumpkin Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix the two ingredients together in a bowl. Don't add anything else that may be mentioned on the box, such as eggs, oil, or water. The mixture will be very thick, so you might be tempted to add in other things to make the batter smoother. Do NOT do this! Just keep on stirring until completely mixed. Transfer batter to a 9-inch cake pan sprayed with nonstick spray, and smooth out the top with a spatula or the back of a spoon. Place pan in the oven, and bake for 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool, and then cut into 12 slices. Enjoy! MAKES 12 SERVINGS |
Humpday
GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS
It is a cool day here in the Heartland. Not much going on yet today. So far I have not done anything to speak of but made lunch and then placed a Schwans order. JEAN I don't know what email system you use but here is how mine works to unblock mail: At the top of you screen click on Tools and then on "bloced sender" and you can unblock whoever you want by removing the check in the little box. Hope that helps. DONNA FAYE Leave the leaves be sounds good to me. Those folks have to do something to earn that money. Someone is here. Type at y'all later. |
Good evening, ladies! The nor'easter has been here since about 5 pm yesterday. So far we've had 7 inches of rain and wind 35 mph. The weatherman said to expect flooding comparable to Hurrican Isabel or worse at high tide tomorrow afternoon so I may have flood waters to my doors again or even in the house. The wind is supposed to increase to 50 mph. We already have flooding in some areas. Of course, there are nuts out wind surfing. I travel I-64 West to work everyday and today a huge tree blew down and fell across both lanes. They were just cutting it up and had one lane open as I went through the area. Saw more down as I came home. I will have to leave my car at the strip mall tomorrow if the water is high. Our neighbor lost 2 cars from flooding during Isabell. Stan moved ours just in time. Oh, well, nothing I can do at this point but wait it out and clean up the mess. :(
Jean, be sure the email address of the person you are expecting the email from is in your addressbook. Otherwise, it could be considered Spam. Faye, that is big feet for a little boy. He's going to be 7 feet tall at the rate he is growing! Maggie, I saw that recipe, too. It looks good. Have a good night, ladies. I'm going to watch the Weather Channel. |

Good morning to you all! It is cold this morning to I am going to wear my new sweater. No, this one is a bought one and actually, I should have bought one size smaller, but old habits die hard. I am going to the dr today so am going to talk to her all about the female stuff and what I can do about the hunger days that are very bad and the water retention and so on or if I just have to wait it out. With Thanksgiving coming up and we are traveling, I am sure I will fall off the wagon somewhat, but I am going to make sure I have good snacks like fruit and stuff in case I have hunger issues or to keep me away from the fattening stuff for the most part.
We had T yesterday and what a joy that boy is. Get this, he and his parents are having a stock market contest. Each of them put in $20 in a pot. Then they went to some site on the internet to play this game. They each had $100,000 to invest but could invest on margin up to $200,000. It will last until T's bday next June, then whomever made the most money, that person gets the pot. Good ole Granddad told T yesterday if he wins, he will double his money to $120! Of course, our brilliant boy is ahead of both his mom and day by quite a bit already. He even knows what stocks to buy. Jack asked him did he do a lot of research on what to buy. His answer was, "No, I just guessed!":lol: He bought, Carnival cruise line, foot locker, shoe carnival, apple, hot topics (this is a hip clothing store in the malls) and a small amount of stock in his mom's company. I am surprised he didn't buy FedEx stock since his dad works there. His mom's company is taking a header though so Thomas dumped it pretty fast! :D He is so into this now, that he is asking for real stocks for Christmas. We had a grand time, as usual and did nothing but hang out at the house and play games on the computer and stuff. Lots of fun. His granddad was talking to him about having two grandsons and about favorites and who did he think should be the favorite and he said, "Me, of course!" He then got the giggles about that. Susan: Bless your heart, I hope this all blows through quickly for you. We have a lot of flooding here when it rains heavy too, but we don't live in the lowlands so it isn't really a problem other than the streets as the sewer systems here can't ever keep up. Keep us informed about how you are doing if you can. Maggie: Have you made this cake? I made one of her recipes with just a cake mix, spice and a can of pumpkin and hated it. It was very dense but very gooey. I am not sure about the chocolate/pumpkin combination...:D Jean: You would never know I have done the leaves twice already. It is a mess again, but we are waiting until the rest of the tree empties before tackling it again. Such a mess trees can be. I am on the heel flap of Jackson's first sock. Sheesh, this is like knitting with toothpicks and thread! I knit awhile then put it down and knit on Ruth's sweater. The color is gorgeous and I am making her a long sleeved sweater as that is what she wanted so will get some more yarn and I think some beautiful silver buttons for the side. It is that hollyberry so it is a beautiful burgundy color. I need to find some sock yarn to make T a pair too. I have to post a pic of this gorgeous hand painted stuff. Is it not divine! I love this bright color. It is called Cartoons! How appropriate. This is yarn only for special occasions though a it makes one pair of socks and costs $10 a hank. Have a great day gals. I am going back to knitting the heel flap and get the foot started so I can take it with me to the doctor's office. Faye |
