Good morning gals! Have to make this one quick as we have a commissary run this morning and I haven't typed up my grocery list yet. We are supposed to get a call from Jack's boss as we said we would do something for him while we are out in Millington today so I have to get crackin' as I don't know when he is going to call. I just hope it isn't too very late. I like to get into the commissary and get it done and get out.

Maggie: I popcorn is a big huge no no for me as is corn in general. Actually, most people that have diverticulitis aren't supposed to eat anything that doesn't digest or has seeds like strawberries, raspberries, etc. I can eat those just fine and not have trouble, but I have to stay away from popcorn and regular corn as it will cause me to have an attack if I am not careful. I love fresh carmel corn and the farmers' market in Indiana has a booth where they sell it and it is always so tempting. Warm gooey corn, yum, but not worth the intestinal ache. So, I try to find some nice fresh fruit instead to buy as a snack. We had dinner at a diner we had never tried. Jack liked it, I thought it was just ok so I didn't eat much except my green beans and some of my chicken breast. They had something called sweet biscuits, were cut into the shape of cake and was kind of icky in my opinion. They were surely not biscuits but more like a very light cake.

Jean: We got a beautiful microwave and you can tell it is much bigger when you put a full sized plate into it. Our old one would fit a dinner plate with just a bit of room still around the turntable, but this one whooeee! It also has some cool things that you just press the button to do instead of having to program it in. Do you own part of Goodwill or something???? I have never seen a woman go to Goodwill more than you. I have to say, Jack and I are going to have to come visit you sometime so I can see for myself that you aren't swimming under what you call clutter as the way you talk your whole house is one big Goodwill box!:lol::lol: I just imagine poor Bob going to work in his undershorts because you Goodwilled all his clothing.....;) Maybe you should have stayed teaching, you seem to have too much time on your hands now. :)

Gott run gals so we can have some breakfast and get showers and such.

Good Morning, Flowers! It's promising to be another beautiful day in my corner of the world. We could use some rain though. The cable guy has been here and now we have a new HD box and a new remote. Yesterday Bob was given a remote that someone else had turned in with their box. :( I have laundry going and could make a short grocery list. I should have gone yesterday, but hate to fight the retired Friday crowd who think they will never eat again nor see their friends at the store.

Maggie -- I hope your "blahs" are gone by now. I've actually gotten quite a bit done this morning. :cp: I'd like to have your pop corn ball recipe. Do you do anything special to keep from getting all sticky? I read a magazine tip that said to wear gloves when making the balls, another said to butter your hands, and I saw an ad for a plastic "ball" maker that came apart in the middle. You were supposed to scoop the pop corn into the two halves and press them together. I just didn't see how that would work to get a whole ball out without touching it.

"Gma" -- I have clothes from many years ago :o that are heading for the Good Will. I am really bad about buying new things and then hanging on to the old even though I no longer wear the item. :s: I've also saved programs and magazine articles thinking that someday I would reread them. That hasn't happened yet so I am pitching them. I've saved greeting cards over the years and did sort through them a few years ago. I saved the special ones and/or ones that have a picture I like. I've saved pictures the grandkids have colored, and the list goes on! I think I said once before that I move very slowly when it comes to pitching! It's not that I can't move faster, but I want to look at the stuff once again. Bob is much better than I am; he's offered to back the pickup underneath the bedroom windows and just have at it. :fr: Did you end up getting the brand of microwave you wanted? Enjoy!

The dryer is buzzing so it's time to change laundry loads. Have a great day and enjoy the weekend.

Satuday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS:wave:

Hope all is well with everyone this day. Our Texas company won't be here until Wednesday but that is fine. I am excited to see them. Not much happening here this day. I do have to plan on what I will be taking to pot-luck tomorrow.

DONNA FAYE Did you end up getting that Panasonic like I have? It isn't much bigger than my old one but inside it is much bigger. I think it has thinner walls.

JEAN I know what you mean about going through photographs and old school papers. Treasures to be revisited. Here is that Popcorn Ball recipe.

POPCORN BALLS
You can add a few drops of food
Coloring to the marshmallow mixture
to give these treats a seasonal hue.

YIELD: 16 Popcorn Balls
3 POINTS each

Preheat oven to 300°
20 cups popped popcorn
1½ cups light-colored corn syrup
1½ cups Splenda® (measures
like sugar)
1 7-oz jar marshmallow crème
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla

1. Remove all unpopped kernels from popped corn.
Place popped corn in a buttered 17x12x2-inch pan.
Keep popcorn warm in a 300° oven while preparing
marshmallow mixture.

2. In a large saucepan bring corn syrup and Splenda® to boiling over a medium heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in marshmallow crème, butter, and vanilla until combined.

3. Pour marshmallow mixture over hot popcorn; stir
gently to coat. Cool until popcorn mixture can be handled easily. Butter hands and quickly shape mixture into 3-inch-diameter balls. Wrap each ball in plastic wrap.
Store at room temperature for up to 1 week.
If you add candy to the balls adjust the points.

Have a lovely day Magnolias. Type at y'all later

Thanks for the recipe, Maggie. I may get adventuresome and give it a try closer to Halloween. :D What are you making for the pot luck tomorrow? Your food choices always sound so good! :T I wish someone would make up the menus for me . . . cooking it for me would be even better!

Good Morning, Flowers! Just peeking in before I get moving. It's a cool sunny morning in my neighborhood. I have the "See My China Luncheon" at church in an hour. The dishwasher and washer are both doing their thing. The fur/dust bunnies will have to wait until I get home later.

I need to find something to wear. Since it's technically fall now, my light colored summer outfits seem out of place to me. I wonder what I wore to school last fall? Hmmm -- better do some searching!

I'll be back later. Have a nice day!
