Good Afternoon, Flowers! We didn't get home until after 9 last night and I went to bed. The birthday party was a huge success, the weather not unbearable, good food, etc. We went to church this morning and it's been a lazy day since. We both had a nap after lunch and I've done one load of laundry and have many more to go.

Susan -- It was tax free weekend here too. I think it was just for clothing and school supplies. Every little bit helps that is for sure. Our tax is 7%, but it differs between towns and cities. We have so many geese that the local law enforcement guys are going to be in the parks discharging loud noise makers to scare them off. We've been warned to stay away if we see the men in bright green vests! The book and quilt idea sound interesting. I've not read that book. I agree with the others regarding your diabetic friend. We have a young teacher (40ish) who is waiting for a kidney transplant because she didn't take care of her diabetes. :(

"Gma" -- I would be mad about your pool not opening at all too! When you pay high maintenance fees :( you should have it available for your convenience. I hope your daughter leaves hers open awhile longer for you. I had a diabetic uncle -- he liked to drink so opted for taking insulin by injection so he could regulate it according to what he drank. DUMB!

Maggie -- Your new birdbath sounds nice. From what I've read running water will attract the birds. Our vet declaws the old fashioned way but Beth has told me that the Sioux City vets all use the new laser method which is much better for the cat. So far Ernie has his claws and doesn't bother the furniture, but I'd like to pull a couple of his teeth! :hyper:

I do need to head to the basement and put in another load of laundry. Have a nice "rest of the day!"

Good morning gals. Well here it is another Monday and for us, the kids start school today. I imagine Thomas is all excited. His school doesn't start until 9 so at least he doesn't have to get up at 5 or something. I imagine he goes over to his grandparents in his pjs each morning and dresses there depending on when Tom and Kelly leave for work. I asked him last time we swam if he had all his new school stuff and he said yes. I asked if he bought a lot of school clothes and he said no. He said he has gotten taller but not put on any weight so his summer clothes still fit him. I told him to hold on and in a couple months he would probably have to have at least pants to fit him that were long enough! :) He is a real string bean and getting taller every day it seems.

Susan: I have yet to read the latest book. I haven't been buying books from my book club since I have been trying to catch up on knitting. A lot of people didn't like her current book as they said it rehashed old stuff and nothing was new and funny. I think she is a hilarious writer and always enjoy her stuff. Your quilt will be delightful I am sure.

Maggie: Sounds like you had a nice time yesterday with friends. We hung out at home yesterday and I got the downstairs cleaned so at least for now it is all clean again.

Jean: Glad she had a nice birthday party. It is always fun when you are young and a big grown when you get old. One of my best friends turned 50 on Thur and her family through her a big surprise bash at her law firm on Saturday. I felt bad I didn't get to go, but I had sent her present and she got it befor her birthday and loved it so I guess that is ok.

I haven't decided what I am going to do today. It is hot and muggy already this morning. I may just drive over to their house and see if it is still open then email kelly and find out if they are going to close it early or not.

You all have a great start to the week. Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! It's a cool sunny day in my corner of the world. The weatherman sure missed his "heat and humidity" forecast -- I'm glad! I have another load of laundry going and need to vacuum sometime today. I should check the dust on my end tables since it's been awhile. :o

"Gma" -- It seems like our grandkids are going through a growth spurt right now. They are hungry all the time! Both Beth and Amanda are holding off on buying long pants for awhile. Wish I could send you some of our delightful weather! I guess there was a very strong thunderstorm in eastern Iowa yesterday -- 70 mph winds which took down a lot of old trees. We didn't get anything.

I need to get busy! Have a great day and think kind thoughts! :D

Good morning all! Boy it is sticky here this morning. I am not sure if we got any rain last night, but it darkened up and the wind blew up a lot. The satellite was out for a couple minutes but that was all.

Jean: If Thomas had a low metabolism he would be a fatty. He eats really well and can polish off an adult dinner and dessert, but he is built just like his daddy tall and thin. He is going to visit us for the holiday and I think we will bbq over that weekend. If the weather is good and their pool is still open, I think I will take him over to swim one of the days and I am sure we will take him out to eat wherever he wants to go. We always play clue so I am sure we will do that and maybe some card games. I bought him racko a couple years ago and it is still in the wrapper here so maybe we will all learn to play that while he is here. I sure wish we lived closer to Chicago and we could go to some of their terrific museums over that weekend. Unfortunately, it is an 8 hour drive and both dogs will be here. Ahh well, maybe sometime. I wanted to go to the rock n roll hall of fame but Jack isn't interested at all. It is in Cleveland. I was telling Thomas about it and how this weekend was the 40th anniversary of Woodstock and they were having a big exhibit at the hall of fame. He proceeds to tell me all about Woodstock and what it was and such. I smiled and said, "Yes, Thomas, I know I was a teenager back then!"

Tom's birthday is this Sunday so all the Elvis impersonators are coming to town to celebrate with him! :D Actually, we will be swarmed with people as Elvis died on the 16th, same day as Tom's birthday, and we will have thousands here walking through Graceland. They do it every year. They always have some candlelight vigil, some people are there all night. Dumb if you ask me, but what do I know? I guess I have never been star struck.

I did a nice swim yesterday and will go again today and get in an hour or so. I noticed their neighbor has already closed their pool up. I am glad Kelly said they had no immediate plans to. It is so much easier and much more enjoyable to swim for an hour than to walk at all. I can work out a lot harder and work my muscles a lot more in a pool.

I guess I better start on chores. I hear the washer is finished and I need to get upstairs and make the bed and straighten up the house.

Have a great Tuesday. The months are just flying by.

Good Morning, Flowers! It's another cool sunny morning in my neighborhood. I have a dentist appt. this afternoon and am catsitting for a couple of days so will make a stop and see "Boomer" afterwards. I should make a WM run but that is way low on my list.

"Gma" -- It sounds like you have a fun weekend planned when Thomas comes to visit. Clue was Beth's most favorite game; Jason isn't a game player but Bob and I played many, many games with her. She is really lucky at games, cards, etc. My dad and great-grandfather were too so she must come by it naturally. :D Enjoy your swim!

I have a pile of ironing waiting for me and a dishwasher to unload, so I'm off. Have a great day and remember to smile! :D
