Hello everyone,

I see emotions are running high today.

Witchie, I agree with you and totally see your point. When you are focussing on not thinking about the things you can cheat with and then read through a list of gorgeous food it is extremely tempting. so I can understand the triggers.

Aditi 06-16-2009 05:32 PM

OK that got submitted before I could finish....

Witchie, I agree with you and totally see your point. When you are focussing on not thinking about the things you can cheat with and then read through a list of gorgeous food it is extremely tempting. so I can understand the triggers.

That being said, I also agree with Dria. What happens to each of us in this journey is up to each one of us. Maybe we should not list out the foods we ate when we cheated maybe we need to just to get it off our chests but the main thing here is for each one of us to know that if we don't fall there is no way we will learn everything we need to about maintaing our losses. It is only because Dria tried the starch after lunch did she realize how much it was helping to finish her starches by lunch, it was becasue Chantal cheated that she realized that getting depressed about not being able to enjiy life on her birthday was not as important.

These things are important and that is why this forum is a great place becasue people like me can know all of this without having to go through the experience,

Anyway I gotta go my carpool guy is gonna die

Dria 06-16-2009 06:05 PM

Did I mention Im hoping really hard to hit the 50lbs goal tomorrow........ EEEEEEEEE Cross your fingers ladies Ive been super duper good!!!! lol

I also forgot I wanted to tell you ladies about the First course bar I tried the other day. They count the same as a shake. 1 Protein 1 Starch 1 Fat...
The peanut crunch..... OH MY WORD. As long as you like peanut butter.. these are to die for...
Now that being said I was concerned about how filling they would be. Let me tell you they are more filling then even the shake.
Yesterday I had a crud load of running around to do.
For breaky I had
3/4 cup of plain special k
and 1 apple.

Then for lunch all I had was the peanut crunch first course bar...... and ran my butt off ALL DAY. No sitting. I ate that bar at 11:50am. No veggies with it no fruit with it NOTHING JUST THE BAR......
I was still feeling full by the time I broke down and ate supper at 7pm. NOT KIDDING.

lee2lee 06-16-2009 06:14 PM

Protein for breakfast...

I hard boil a bunch of eggs, peel them and keep them in a container ready to go. That on the go with a piece of fruit serves me well. The first course meal replacement bars are a hit with me... that is how I got through my daughters soccer tournament this weekend was with the bars. Everyone else was munching on Tim hortons bagels and muffins... and again girls here lies the choices.... I had my HM bar with my coffee.. and I gave myself a pat on the back. YAH me!!

Ok I can't remember who came up with the heavenly iced capp substitute... I tried one today since I woke up from nights and I had a days worth of food to eat. I chocolate HM protein shake, 14 oz of cold water, 1 cup of ice cubes, 2 1/2 tsp of instant coffee (I like the coffee flavor) and 1 pack of sweetner..... OH MY HEAVEN ON EARTH for those who like Timmies iced capps... filling and it makes alot and the best part you can drink the whole thing!!!! Thank you so much for that wonderful substitute you deserve a gold star for that one!!!

I hope all is well... talk later great job everyone!!!!

lee2lee 06-16-2009 06:17 PM

Question for you Dria..

Are you down to only 2 proteins a day??? My center warned me that in another few pounds they will take a protein away and I will be on the QLP 1. What kind of adjustments will I be expecting??? Mood wise, preparing etc.

Thanks

lee2lee

momof5k 06-16-2009 06:18 PM

All this talk about the iced shake/iced capp thing has got me craving one!! (but I have not tried the shakes yet so there is none in my house :( )

witchie 06-16-2009 07:15 PM

Oh my gosh, I new explaining this so that it was understood was not going to be easy, I'm beginning to regret my words.

Yep, I do the same, and it doesnt bother me, and no TV commercials dont bother me either. It is binge eating that is the trigger. So, unless someone is devouring an entire pizza on the tube, then nope no problem. Since I don't, on a regular basis, run into someone eating an entire bag of cookies, or find someone in the closet at work stuffing 6 chocolate bars into themselves, I'm fine. It was the reading of the amount of food ingested at one time that triggered the bad thoughts. It was nothing against the person confessing, I dont think they're bad, it is about me & me alone. I know its hard to grasp, but I didnt condemn her, I wanted to BE her.

I'm not upset at all, I'm triggered, which means that something was set off in my brain that made me want to do something unhealthy, in my case binge eat. Ok, hope that made it a little more clear, its twisted I know. Anyway it was a beautiful day here in Ontario, hope the sun was shining on you all! Cheers!!

mememegogirl 06-16-2009 07:41 PM

I am so glad that people are enjoying the iced capp thingie. I had one today too in the middle of the afternoon. Delightful! I really split up my food today so that I could do just that. My lunch was basically veggies today so that I could 'splurge' in the afternoon with my 'iced capp' :) For those who haven't yet been able to indulge... sorry :( I am down to my last packet of VHP too if that makes you feel better.

sunnygal 06-16-2009 09:36 PM

It's official - I joined Herbal Magic today

Okay, I did it! I signed up today so I'm officially on program!! :)

Today was Day One and I have to say it was very interesting to be conscious of what I was putting in my mouth. I know that one of my problems is that I'm an unconscious eater so while I was preparing dinner I chewed gum so that I wouldn't nibble. And when I was cleaning up after dinner I caught myself wanting to nibble again, purely out of habit. Hopefully, I'll break this habit soon.

My goal is to lose 50lbs by December 2nd - YIKES! At that point I'll decide my final goal weight.

I've been reading all the posts over the past few days and it seems that everyone has their own issues that they're dealing with. Many of them are the same and some are different - we've all got our "thing". It's great to see that everyone supports each other and I think this forum is a wonderful tool. It's comforting and inspirational to know that others are in the same boat and many of you are having great success with your weight loss journey. And that's what it is - a journey. Regardless of how you get to your goal, just keep going.

I had a thought on the weekend. My husband participated in a two day, 200 km bike ride from Toronto to Niagara Falls. Most people (over 3,000) completed The Ride. Some rode with a few very short stops and crossed the finish line early. Others took their time, stopping and resting and they finished too, just later. It made me realize that if I stay on program and don't cheat, I'll get their sooner. If I slip up along the way, it'll just take me longer but I'll eventually get there. It's not a race - I just need to get to the finish line.

So today was a good day. I'm on track and making my way to the finish line!

Let's see what tomorrow brings...

momof5k 06-16-2009 09:56 PM

Welcome sunnygal! Nice to have you with us!

Yes, this is a journey and some will reach their destination quickly, others slowly, but each step forward is one step closer.

Looking forward to our journey together!

MicheleR 06-16-2009 10:22 PM

Lee: Looking at Dria's stats I'm not sure if she would have ever been on QLPII. Once you drop below 200 they will take away a fruit, veggie and protein which should leave you with:

2 protein
2 starch
2 fruit
3 veg
2 fats
1 FE
1 dairy

Sorry to hijack the answer.. haha

Dria 06-16-2009 11:29 PM

Yeah I was never on that one.

Mine is just as you listed.
2 protein
2 starch
2 fruit
3 veggies
1 dairy
2 fat
1 FE
Cant wait to get another starch lol they are my FAVORITE lol

SUNNY WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE :P Im not sure what all is here but what ya see is what ya get lol. COngrats on taking a huge step in making yourself very successful in your weightloss.

Your example of the race is absolutely dead on. Good job!!!

Chantal0123 06-17-2009 08:05 AM

I was reading the posts about removing food...OH GOSH... I don't think I can handle that... I mean... OK, remove a veggie - that's great with me! lol
But a fruit and a protein... well a protein isn't so bad... but the fruit!!
OK well maybe I could do without I guess... lol

Way to go Sunny! You can do this!! One bite at a time :)

Dria - I'm crossing my fingers for you... 50 pounds - WOW!

Witchie - thanks for sharing! But just wanted to make something clear... I didn't eat those things in a day (LOL). I ate them throughout a week.
So I didn't actually "binge"... like I had cookies for a couple of days, etc.
Just wanted to clear this up :)

Last night I made pasta with this tomato sauce I found.
It's made by Heinz... it's has 10g sodium, 2g of sugar and 20 calories per 1/4 of a cup. I think that's the best! I wouldn't count it as a FE since it's 20 cal...I mean... but I still didn't eat my FE.

Just wanted to share!

My WI is tomorrow & measurements too.

Happy Wednesday!

Dria 06-17-2009 10:02 AM

Mmmk SO W.I wasnt what I hoped for but I was still down so thats all good.
127 dead even. Friday for sure :):)

Aditi 06-17-2009 10:17 AM

Hello ladies,

Yesterday was a good on plan day and today is set to be another good one except that I have to go to Moxie's for dinner for a work thing. any ideas on what I can order form the menu? its not on the eating out guide list.

I am gonna try and get my starches done by lunch starting next week and see how that works for me

Dria 06-17-2009 10:39 AM

When you go out and dont see something on your list. You have to be very picky when ordering.
Remember when making your "demands" for your meal that this could just be a health allergy etc so they should make it to your specifications. IE
A steak... please make sure no salt or seasonings are used on my steak please.
Please make sure the grilled chicken breast is not made with salt or seasoning etc
A Quasadilla (sp) is usually a good thing. Just eat 1/4 of it usually depend how they are made remember you are allowed 1 6" tortilla. SO look at it and be careful. Also ask for the salsa on the side etc pay attention to how chicken is on it and cheese.

Or a salad..... just watch how much your eating. I find eating out at the ressy's to be easy and helpful as the portions they serve are always so big ya can get 2-3 meals for the next day or so out of one meal :) I hope this has helped.
And stay away from the broccoli cheese soup ***DROOLS*** in time you can have it again LMAO thats one of my weaknesses

witchie 06-17-2009 10:40 AM

Wooot, welcome Sunny!

Dria, you are so close, can ya smell it?

Aditi, I find one of the easiest things to eat at a restaurant is a stirfry. Just ask for it to be cooked without sauce, and served without rice or noodles. Unless of course youve saved your starches then you can have like a cup of rice or noodles.

I have to try that Iced cap thingy, but the 30$ for 7 VHP is killing me. I may splurge on myself next week though, cause its my birthday. : )
Its another beautiful sun shiney day here, cheers all!

Aditi 06-17-2009 10:55 AM

Thanks Witchie and Dria, will follow your advice for sure :D

Wow today is super boring at work........

Dria 06-17-2009 11:03 AM

Witchie break it down.
The shake costs about $5.37 per shake....... thats cheaper then mcdonalds or any other meal really. And its filling. So treat yourself and consider it your "take out meal"
Thats how I justified it ;)

I told my girl today that it was the first time I was nervous about stepping on the scale. I know Im slowing down now because normally Im 1.8 or so down from Monday to wednesday.

mememegogirl 06-17-2009 11:04 AM

Witchie: IF you have never bought the chocolate VHP shake before they should discount it as a 'new to you' product or something like that. At least 10%. Also, if you sign up with them for online promotions you might get lucky like I did and get a coupon that will take 10 - 20 bucks off of products for you.

Dria: You'll be there before you know it. We can't wait! You will be the first of us to do it and I know we will all be watching to see how program changes. Plus, to see how a person feels when they reach their goal and maintain it will be so very, very cool!

Chantal: Good luck with WI etc..

Aditi: I haven't been very successful at Moxie's myself. They have some yummy salads if that turns your crank...

SunnyGal! Congrats on joining HM! The first weeks are very exciting! Stick to it hard core and you will see some cool results - GUARANTEED! Good Luck!

Aditi 06-17-2009 12:21 PM

hi,

I have been on this for 3 weeks now and have lost about 7lbs ofcourse there was the week of hte flu where i lost 1 lb. Am i being absolutely idiotic or am I losing too slow.

does anyone remember how much they lost when they just started? like in a couple weeks of starting the program or so?

Dria seeing as your start weight was similar to mine and you have been so successful, what kind of loss patterns did you see through your journey?

Aditi 06-17-2009 12:22 PM

Also, here is a recipe that my center just sent me for a big late country breakfast on the weekend :)

Big Country Breakfast

1tsp olive oil
1 small potato, diced
2 large eggs
1 serving ( found on package) Veggie
Canadian Bacon
2 slices toasted diet bread
2 tbsp sugar free jam ( you can use salsa instead of jam)
1 medium orange sliced
1/2tsp Flavo-Magic

Preheat oven to 400F
Heat olive in a large pan. Saute potato until golden brown.
Poach eggs or soft boil. Keep warm
Bake veggie bacon in oven until golden and crisp.
Serve poached eggs with potato, veggie bacon, toast and jam, and orange slices. Sprinkle Flavo-Magic over eggs and potato as desired.

Serves two

One serving equals 1pro, 1/2 fruit,1 starch, 1/2 fat , 1/2 free exchange

Dria 06-17-2009 12:35 PM

I lost 5.8 in my first week (water)
and 4.6 my second. Now Im usually anywhere from 1.2-4 lbs a week. all over.
Dont worry be fluish can make ya fever which will make ya hold some water etc. Even if ya have a huge weight loss one week the inches wont show for a week or so.....
Dont rush it. it will happen take it day by day and before ya know it 16 weeks have flown by and your fighting for your 50lbs gone magnet LMAO
No worries its working for ya just follow the plan Doll!!!

witchie 06-17-2009 12:43 PM

Originally Posted by :

I never thought of it like that, your absolutely right!!

Dria 06-17-2009 12:55 PM

Witchie when ya look at the cost as a whole it seems like alot but when I broke it down... well then I thought I used to spend more then that on even my jr chicken meal at mcdonalds..... and Id be hungry a few short hours laters!!! These keep me full. But the full course bars or whatever keep me even fuller.
With the shakes I gotta have a cup of cukes or a fruit with it cause Ill be hungry but with the bars....... Im stuffed for hours!!!! But none the less yeah break it down and find out if its worth it for ya or not :) Not all our pocket books work the same lol

Aditi 06-17-2009 01:50 PM

Thanks for the advice Dria that definitely helps. From the way you lost seems like Im a lil slow :( but as long as the scale is headed downwards every time I go in then that's all that should matter right?

What about everyone else? How did your losses happen? Especially in the first couple weeks

Dria 06-17-2009 02:11 PM

Thats right! A down is always better then an up!!! even .2 .2 is still .2 lost!!!!
And even if ya have a bad week and your up slightly when ya smartin up again your body seems to do a good job playing catch up. So dont stress!

mememegogirl 06-17-2009 02:53 PM

Aditi: I don't know that it is fair to compare. I think that each individual body responds differently to the change .... and it depends how you were eating before HM. There are so many variables to consider. Don't hyperfocus on your rate of loss .... just focus on today and following the plan today and then again tomorrow and so on. You will see crazy numbers some weeks and not so much on others simply due to menstruation, illness, social events, etc... HM promises 2lb/week ... your rate is more than that. Be happy and rejoice in your success long term.

Dria 06-17-2009 03:32 PM

And ya know Meme Ive had several weeks that were under 2 lbs. So that being said. Even if ya dont make the 2 lbs a week. You will make up for it another week.

Aditi 06-17-2009 05:04 PM

I love this thread.

what you guys say makes complete sense I guess I am being ridiculously impatient with my body that I fed and fed and fed over the years :D

In any case, this is measurement week so I have my fingers crossed, will be going in on Friday to see what this week gets me.

Aditi 06-17-2009 05:06 PM

O and I forgot the hot mexican chicken wraps on the HM website are simply DELICIOUS and filling, had one for lunch today and

O

MY

GOD!!!!!!!!

Its the tastiest on plan thing I have ever eaten

Aditi 06-17-2009 05:38 PM

ok ladies time to go to moxies and be goood :)

sunnygal 06-17-2009 06:46 PM

I'm down 2lbs from yesterday! If I keep up this pace, I'll be done in a month!! :dizzy: LOL:dizzy:

I'm sure it's water or maybe because I didn't wear a belt today (as if I really need one!). Either way, it made me smile!

I'm on the QLP 1 which is 2 proteins, 2 starches. 2 fruits, 3 veg, 1 dairy, 2 fats, 1 free exchange. But from what I've been reading it seems that I should be on the QLP 2 program which allows more food. I can't imagine having to cut down from this when I go below 200. Can anyone clarify?

Aditi - You're on track. Don't be discouraged. The scale is moving in the right direction.

Dria - I'm so envious (in a good way). I've got my fingers crossed for you. You're so close. WOW !

Dria 06-17-2009 07:09 PM

Sunny I am also surprised your not on the other as well.
They wont take more from ya!!! Thats the lowest ya go. No worries LOL

momof5k 06-18-2009 12:38 AM

Wow!! Lots of posts to catch up on today :)

Dria: I am still only in the dreaming stage of being that close to my goal weight. I know it will happen but it is so. far. down the road. Sigh.

I am very pleased with my results so far though and am already feeling so much better so that is what counts.

My weigh in went well today. Down 1.2 since Monday.

Aditi: hot mexican chicken wraps?!? sounds delish! Care to share that recipe?

I am confused by the breakfast recipe though. Is it to serve two people?

lee2lee 06-18-2009 01:52 AM

Yahoo

Weigh in today... lost a total of 23 pounds now and my measurements are 22 inches lost to date.

I started Herbal Magic on April 20/2009.

My weight loss has been consistent except for a few slip ups on my part. My inches were slow to come off in the beginning, but the last 3 measurement days I have been seeing more total body inches lost now.

As for the bars... Dria I live on them, I have several different ones. I buy seven boxes at a time and I get the 8 one for free I believe it works out to. When I go to work I either have a free exchange bar or a protein bar to take with me to Tim Hortons so I don't have a donut, or bagel etc. I get my coffee and eat one of my bars and it ties me over until I eat a meal.

Again I was warned about the QLP 1 I only have a few pounds to go and voila they are taking more food away from me. I end up with 2 protein, 2 starch, 3 veggies, 2 fruits, 1 dairy, 1 free exchange, and 2 fats I believe. Will be interesting to see what happens on my night shift. My girls told me that they will give me a meal plan to help with the adjustment. I love them

I hope everyone is having successes on the scales this week.

lee2lee

Aditi 06-18-2009 08:17 AM

OK so I sucked at Moxie's last night...........I am not gonna list what I ate but I loaded up on my appetizers, the meal I was good and just had a shrimp skewer thingy with steamed broccoli (no salt). There was a baked potato which I did not eat and not because I was focussing on the plan but becasue I was too stuffed with appetizers and had no room left.

O AND IT GETS WORSE, I DINT EVEN TAKE MY SUPPLEMENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was as if once I got to Moxies, my brain and body looked around saw everyone drinking and eating these delicious foods and completely forgot about the fact that I was on a friggin plan. The only thing I did right was no alcohol and the main course. But all those appetizers are gonna kill whatever good I did this week.

What is wrong with me? I also have a big sushi dinner to go to that I cant get out of on Saturday. After that I am burying myself in the ground. I hate going out. I was good for so many months and brought my weigh down from 198lbs to 177 on my own and now I have all this great support but I keep screwing it up.

In any case that's my rant for the day............. I screwed up and I'm pissed at myself.

Aditi 06-18-2009 08:20 AM

Momof5k, I am so sorry I was so focussed on ranting I forgot all about your questions:

The hot Mexican wrap is 5 oz chicken breast and 4 tbsp of fat free salsa. Coat the chicken with the fat free salsa and toss well. Cook the chicken on an open pan with 1 tsp oil. Once chicken’s cooked lay it on a tortilla and sprinkle ½ and oz or 1oz of cheese on it. Eat it hot or cold I ate it hot and it was the best thing ever...........Also, the website recipe sas you can add more tomatoes but I did not and I dont think I will be.

The country breakfast recipe does serve 2 so halve the ingredients for 1

What about all of you do you get recipes from your center? If yeah then share please ;). I have so far received quite a few including flourless peanut butter cookies that I am dying to try.

witchie 06-18-2009 10:41 AM

Whoa...lots of posts!!

Congrats to all for the WL!

momo - that's awesome and your week ain't over...imagine that!

Lee - WOOHOO! That's amazing!

Aditi - we live and we learn... it might not be THAT bad..you'll see. Remember - it's always your decision in the end :) I won't be judging you!

Sunny - I'm surprised too... You should seriously ASK WHY you're not on the II... I mean, this ain't good for you if you're not eating enough!!

WI for me tonight...which me luck! My co-worker told me this morning I was melting...always nice to hear :)

I'm doing really great, back on track!! I might have a few cheats over the weekend for my bday!! (Mostly alcool I think). I'll make the best of it!
