Good morning to you all. The rain finally moved through. It rained hard and fast all day yesterday. We got soaked going from store to store, or shall I say Jack got soaked because bless him he would drop me off in front so I didn't get wet. The commissary has a drive through pick up with an overhang so when you drop someone off they don't get wet.

Maggie: I would bet if I went to a regular here in town and bought the exact same things with the tax it would be at least $500. I have seen a lot of stuff with the prices raised dramatically, even the commissary, which makes no profit on what they sell. Restaurant prices have really rocketed too. Not much you can do about it either way, you have to eat.

Susan: Thanks for the info on the fries. I am anxious to try them. Do you eat sweet potatoes baked like regular potatoes? I may make one of them like that too. I have a thingamajig you put your potatoes on and cook them in the microwave. The commissary has bags of beautiful shrimp that are really large and very reasonably priced. I like eating cold shrimp so I usually just thaw and eat! I have a recipe with cold shrimp and avocado, fresh pineapple, serrano peppers, fresh lime juice etc that I am anxious to try.

Jean: Does Bob have the guts to tell the ex that she is an ex and the will does not involve her in any way so she will have to leave? Families and money and inheritence, scary stuff as the real rottenness of people comes out. I split our little pittance right down the middle for our two kids. Anything like the condo will be sold and the monies split down the middle. I think it is sad that people think they deserve anything from their parents' estates. I have the opinion that you parents don't owe you anything in life once you are grown and if they want to give it all to some dog shelter that is their right. Money makes people do strange and horrible things. I don't have a cleaning schedule. I used to, but something would always goof it up so I just clean the downstairs on one day and the upstairs on another. I keep everything straightened up all the time so I don't have a lot of pick up to do. One thing I always makes sure the house is picked up and straight before going to bed. Just a habit with me. My closets are a total mess again and need to be weeded out, but I don't have storage much for stuff I want to keep.

Well gals, I am going to do my morning chores and then get to knitting. Have a great Sunday.

Good evening, ladies! More thunderstorms off an on today. It's raining again now. The water is getting high! That turned out to be quite a storm last night. My neighbors had a car parked in the front with a for sale sign on it - a tree was struck by lightening and came down on the car!

The First Communion was very pretty this morning. The little girls were so cute in their dresses and veils, and the little boys in their suits. Of course, one of the boys managed to have his shirt tail hanging out and the knot of his tie up under his ear.

I was sure no one would be interested in hand quilting anymore and if I had one or two form the demonstration, that would be great. Well, I had 15 and more in the hall that couldn't fit in the room so the workshop chairman asked if I'd be willing to teach a couple of classes. Of course, I'm always happy to spread my knowledge around. The quilt show was lovely.

Well, I need to finish up on my Bible Study homework so I'll just say - have a good night!

Good Evening, Flowers! We started off with a nice sunny day, but the clouds have rolled in late this afternoon. There is no rain in the forecast and it's supposed to be 75 tomorrow. I have the last load of laundry going and need to iron a shirt for Bob. We made a quick trip to Sioux City this afternoon. Bob dropped me off at the mall and met with his siblings to get the papers signed. His sister had the nerve to say she would take her's back to AZ and read them through before signing. One of the other brothers handed her a pen and said, "sign!" She did.

Maggie -- It's a good thing one can choose their friends since they can't choose their relatives. It's so nice of you to make glass houses for the church ladies; I like the way you draw names to see who gets the completed house.

Susan -- Congrats on the maintain . . . better than a gain any day! Thank you for the sweet potato french fries information. I will have to try them. I'm glad you are enjoying the quilting class, and I'm sure you are an excellent teacher. :D

"Gma" -- In defense of the "ex" -- she was good to MIL when MIL lived in Tucson and #2 son had moved to the Phoenix area. She has always remained on friendly terms with the family, but she is one of those gutsy people who will butt right in. She showed up at the cabin uninvited last summer and spent the afternoon. That irritates me, but MIL was glad to see her so what can you do? She just acts like she is still part of the family. I had to  at your leaving money to a dog shelter! We got a card from a gal who had taught with MIL but now lives up in the lakes area. She made a donation, in MIL's name, to the animal shelter up there. Pets were NOT one of MIL's favorite things. The kids never had pets growing up (except Bob had a horse that stayed on a farm), and now we all have at least one pet and some have several.

I should get started on some thank you notes. I know there will be several more tomorrow. We received this HUGE peace lily plant yesterday. It is beautiful; I'm sure it is at least 4 ft. tall. I have no clue where I will ever put it, and wonder if the assisted living place might take it.

Have a marvelous Monday tomorrow!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning to you all! Another day of rain yesterday and it seems to be stopped at the moment but who knows. I am going to do the treadmill this morning rather than walk. I don't feel like getting all dressed up and go to the mall to walk and it will be muddy around here. Seems like everywhere I walk around here has low lying sidewalks that hold water or mud and I end up in the street, which I don't like to do.

Susan: Have you ever done the "flying geese" pattern in quilting? I get emails from a yarn store in South Bend, Ericas, and they have an online store and are having an anniversary sale. One of the things on the email is this book about making that pattern. BTW, if you are interested, it is ericas.com and they are having free shipping this week on anything you buy. They have some cute fabric. Oooh, wish I lived in your area, I would take your classes just to see how to do it. I am a pretty good hand seamstress if I do say so myself. Don't know why I never did very well with a machine though I haven't touched one in nearly 40 years. I really think quilting would be great fun.

Jean: Glad Bob has the legal stuff out of the way. I know it is a load off his mind. Did you buy anything good at the mall? I rarely go to the mall as I don't particularly like ours but I lose all this weight and I could sure have fun shopping in the stores I bet. I am afraid I would buy out Coldwater Creek because I love their clothes. When my son and dil's good friend's mother died a month or so ago, I sent her an arrangement of really brightly colored spring flowers. I always do that because I think it helps to celebrate the person's life more than mourn over it. I ask my dil if she had gotten the arrangement ok and she said, "Yes, and Jorie wanted you to know how much she appreciated the beautiful bright colored flowers. It helped her think of her mom in a new way instead of being sad about her." I figure most people send plants or flowers that can be planted, but I always want to send something that will just put a bright spot in their days for just awhile at the hardest part of the funeral process.

I guess I should go so I can start to clean upstairs. I have to wait to get on the treadmill since my ipod's battery was run down and I have to charge it back up.

You all have a very good day today!
Faye
