Where is everybody hiding??????
I am home and it was a really great weekend . . . but OMG, I am soooooo tired. Should have tried to do a little more sleeping and a little less talking I guess. Definitely feels like nap-time . . . see you later . . . |
Glad you had a great trip meowee.
Finally finding a groove now that kids are back in school. Enjoying the warm weather. And taking advantage of all the fresh produce, getting some stuff canned and frozen. Have a great day! |
After lots of extra sleep yesterday, I am finally feeling almost human again. Our weather is gloriusly sunny and the high is going to be about 14 today. Definitely soup weather; so as soon as I've cleaned the litter pans (and me), I'm off to do a bunch of grocery shopping. Have a great one everybody . . . :grouphug: |
Good Morning Canucks;
It looks like most of you are from Ontario. I wish I was in Ontario this time of the year. It must be beautiful in Autumn. I was thinking you could use a prairie correspondent. So good morning from Saskatchewan! :D The weather here is - chilly but beautiful. I've been so busy this fall with school start up but the upside to this year is I'm at a school with a later start time, and no cafeteria! Yay!!! I loved the cafeteria but I ate there four times a week. The other day we'd go out for lunch.:o This year should be good. I have to bring my lunch everyday. Anyways, I should go and get ready, have a good day Canucks, Tam |
Hi . . .
Seems I've come down with an 'end-of-summer' cold and I feel really crummy. Too many aircraft and airports and not enough sleep over the weekend I guess. Hopefully it will go away soon . . . :crossed: |
Cough, Snuffle, Sneeze . . .
|
AWw. Meowee!! Feel better. OOh! here's an idea.
I don't take neo-citran because I love it too much. But I do have a good recipe for homemade neo-citran you might like: Shred some fresh ginger into a small pot of boiling water, Take it off the heat and let it steep for about five minutes, Strain it and pour it in a cup, Add the juice of one fresh lemon and honey to taste. It is remarkably alike the neocitran from the store but not all chemically. If you like, have a couple of aspirins too. The ginger is kind of hot and spicy and the lemon balances it perfectly. It seemed like a bit undertaking to go and actually get the ginger for me but man is this good. I took to making it when I wasn't even sick last winter. |
Or get some ginger tea.
|
Or there's always that. Haha. Silly me. I do tend to go on. Sorry.
How is everybody? Just got back from northern SK. from an art retreat. What a great time. The food was amazing and I ate way too much, but I should be able to get back on track this week. Hope you all had a great weekend! Tam |
Hello all. I am in Alberta. I am actually from Nova scotia but I have been working out here for the past few years. We are hoping in a few years to retire and head back to NS.
I am seeing on the TV that the latest hurricane is really hitting the maritimes, I hope everyone is fine and not too wet. Pat |
Good morning. I hope all our Maritimers are OK. Looks like Ike has passed on to the Gulf.
We have wet and gloomy weather predicted for the week. Time to cozy in and start thinking about winter. I'm dreading the price of heating oil this winter and will be using my wood stove a lot to heat the back part of the house. Today I'm going to put some fall decorations outside to brighten things up a bit. The trees are just starting to turn and should be at peak by Thanksgiving Weekend. Happy Monday! |
Ike was a pretty well-behaved little boy in this north-eastern area of Nova Scotia. Hope everybody else fared equally as well.
Still nursing my cold but I really think it's feeling a little better. Unfortunately I've been nursing it with far too many comfort foods -- guess I'm trying to find something I can actually taste. :s: |
Greetings All:
Sorry for the prolonged absence. Just a combination of not wanting to be an "air hog" and not feeling well, not meeting goals weight loss and other wise. Last night I ate a reasonable supper albeit it was later than usual in a crowded house and remarkably I did not sleep well - up 4 times in night - so slept late this morning and even now I am yawning. It did not help matters that a 4 year old followed me around the house calling me fat for a brief spell, the parents were nowhere to correct the child not that they would have. Here I am old enough to be this child's mother and I allow my self to be affected by her cat calls. Ugh. Hope everyone else's week is going better than mine and that Tropical Storm Kyle has not affected those in the martimes too much, looks like mots of wind, downed trees, loss of power. boats joustled about in the bay so far. Hopefully the damages will be less than Juan. Take Good Care All - :-) cdnwebgurl |
Hi All!
Is there room for a West Coaster in here? I am in Vancouver and I would love to join you. The sun is shining today and I feel good, I never understood why everybody was so happy to see the sun when I first moved to Canada, but now I totally get it :) |
:welcome: . . . glad to have you with us . . . where did you move 'from'????
|
Quote:
I am originally from Mexico, so I was used to taking the sun for granted. Now in Vancouver, we count the days when it doesn't rain :sunny: |
Good Morning . . . :grouphug:
Sun is starting to break through around here. :yay: Colours are breaking through in full force too . . . I  Autumn. BTW . . . you really did pick the rainiest place in Canada, NEWSHINYME. BC is famous for it's almost ever-lasting rainy season. Have to admit it's been pretty wet over on this side of the country too this summer; but that is a bit abnormal. If you long for hot and dry (well, in the summer, at least), try the Prairies -- Saskatchewan springs immediately to mind. Hope everybody gets some great weather today . . . |
New to this group
Hello all! I am new to this group but have been on 3FC for years. I am hoping to share with your ladies about my continued and repeat failed attempts at weight loss. I am from the southwestern ontario region, near Detroit. I have been on a diet forever but I am trying to make a life change instead and some days its working and others not so much.
So, looking forward to catching up soon. |
Mornin' All:
Just coming in to say hi before I get on with my daily activities and try to enjoy the last bit of sunshine before the rain comes and stays forever. Quote:
Hi scrappinRN! Have a great day everyone! |
Hi gang . . .
We've been having a pretty cool and overcast day here on the Atlantic coast -- but it is not raining -- not yet anyway. :welcome: to the group SCRAPPIN . . . glad you found us, Chickie. See you later . . . |
It was 28 C here on the prairies today and yesterday!! What a bonus, but I'm sure it will all be a distent memory by next week. But that's OK, my brother is getting married in PEI over the Thanksgiving weekend so I'm going home, well home in Halifax and also to PEI.
Moewee are you far enough NE to be in Cape Breton? I love the autumn colours there, I grew up in Cape breton. |
Not quite, but almost . . . I'm in Pictou. The colours are getting to be gorgeous around here too. Have a great trip.
|
Finally a sunny day! I've been ploughing through my house tasks and am going to take the dog outside for a while. We need to drive to the next village for a pick-up and will take the back road to see the forest.
I've been fighting mice, raccoons, a garbage eating bear and a mother cat who had kittens in my barn. Sometimes I miss my Ottawa condo - but I get over that fast! Enjoy this month - the Farmers' Almanac predicts a cold and snowy winter - again! |
We are having sun today, too . . . :yay: . . . Yesterday was fun for shopping but a disaster in the eating department -- carrot cake and garlic breadsticks were included. :o |
Another gloriously sunny day . . . :yay: . . . must get myself out to play.
|
Another cool but sunny day . . . no big plans, will just have to see what develops. |
Is that your real kitty? Very pretty!!
|
So? What's happening at your place for Thanksgiving Weekend? I've already had one TD dinner at my sister's place - she's going away to Portugal for THE day - but have company coming this weekend for turkey and ll the trimmings.
|
Hi Gang . . .
Nothing big for Thanksgiving around here, RUTH, since most of my family is a long way West of here. Probably have dinner with LouLou and her family, but may have to get and cook one of those turkey rolls so I'll have leftovers. Yes, that is 'Purrecious' in my avatar, PATNS. I have a total of six cats and she definitely runs things around here and she never lets the others forget who is boss either. Don't know how it got to be almost 2 pm already . . . :yikes: . . . some days I think time moves at at least twice the normal rate. At least it is another sunny day. See you later . . . :grouphug: |
Hello! I have been on 3FC for a long time, and I never realized there was a Canuck thread! I am also from Ontario, though I grew up in Quebec.
Gorgeous day today, a little warmer than yesterday. I have to admit, fall is my absolute favourite time of year. |
Glad you found us CHOCLABLOVER . . . and now that you have, don't be a stranger.
Our glorious weather has decided to take a holiday today -- it's raining and the high is not expected to get above 5 or 6. :brr: I am definitely not ready for this yet. |
Cold but brilliant today. There was a hard frost in some areas but my stuff is still OK. Rain is forecast for the next two days and then we'll be back to sun on Friday.
Big weekend around here with the Old Stone Mill Fall Festival, our Church yard sale and tons of visitors. I think almost everyone has their Thanksgiving Dinner on Sunday or am I wrong? |
Better today than yesterday -- at least it isn't raining and the high might get to 13. |
Looks like it is shaping up to be a great weekend! I got a gift certificate from my mom for my birthday to get a manicure so I am going to try and book it in for this weekend! I love getting pampered!
|
Wow, yesterday was not one of my best days -- almost nothing seemed to go the way I had planned. Amazingly though, my eating did NOT get off track. Hope everybody has a great day today and a great start to the Thanksgiving Weekend . . . :grouphug: |
Happy Thanksgiving Weekend to my fellow Canuks! It's still shaping up as a lovely weekend and I'm sure glad I got my big grocery order yesterday. Today is the Big Baking Marathon for the Church and Mill sales but I do hope to get outside for a bit - even if just to look at all the fall work that needs doing. (I need to power wash and paint the barn - now there's a task, even if it's just a smallish barn. Here's a picture!
|
I was just ruminating on the fact that I need to powerwash my vinyl siding and some places on the house trim (eaves and such) definitely looking like paint needs to be in their near future. It's never ending.
|
Rarely, very rarely I am glad I live in an apartment except when it comes to home maintenance. I am really happy to let other people worry about that :)
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody! |
Happy Thankgsgiving Weekend . . . :grouphug:
Hope yours is shaping up as well as ours -- lots of sunshine and mild (about 18) temperatures in the forecast. Nothing too big on my agenda for today -- a little last minute shopping for ingredients for a pumpkin cheesecake. :hun: Hope everybody else has a great Saturday . . . |
Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everybody!
