www.tickerfactory.com :)

you can do it!!!!!!

2 dogs 1 lady 03-15-2009 08:12 AM

So this morning I have had a cuppa tea, 1/2 cup (when not cooked) steel cut oats, and 6 oz activa ff yougurt.

that made both starches (gone nice and early..very filling)
and the dairy.

Also i have had an aisian pear (basically a juicy apple) as my fruit.

Going to go and get a huge class of water, finish watching Coronation st and then some house work. The busier I am , the less chance for me to cheat right?

I was reading old posts..did anyone happen to see this? I am not a popcorn fan but I did see thins and think it might be good for some people

recipes from the site for you..as well as there is a tip of the week there too

mememegogirl 03-15-2009 08:08 PM

I tried the tex-mex popcorn. It was EW! Maybe someone else has had success with it.

I just discovered a fully-legal taco salad. You make your own taco bowl by wetting a tortilla and molding it around a bowl and baking it in the oven for about 10 minutes at 425 degrees. Then you layer lots of lettuce, tomatoes, your own prepared sauce with fresh tomatoes, garlic, paprika, cumin, and chili powder. You can have cheese too if you still have your dairy left. And salsa as a free exchange element. You can even figure out how to work in sour cream. DELISH! The key is measuring everything of course.

mememegogirl 03-16-2009 12:46 PM

Have any of you ever set a mini-goal? I am trying to have reasonable expectations of myself but I would like to set a certain goal for just under 2 weeks from now. Do I go with the down 2lbs/ week as my goal or do I shoot for loftier than that.

By the way Jenni... the tea worked wonders!!!!!

Jenni 03-16-2009 03:16 PM

meme: I am glad the tea worked for you as well. As far as a mini goal, I think 2 pounds a week is good. Thanks for the tip on the tex mex popcorn.

2 dogs: thanks for the recipes. Good job on getting the starches out of the way early. I have been trying that; but find that my cravings are worse if I don't save one for supper.

UFF: great loss. wow, 4.6 lbs. The weight is just flying off you. That is awesome.

I started a cleanse on Friday night with my husband. Not the herbal magic one; just one from the health food store. My husband is going nuts and wants to eat everything in sight. I think it is good for him to be able to experience some of what I have had to deal with over the last year. Maybe he will be a bit more support after this.

2 dogs 1 lady 03-16-2009 04:34 PM

so today I bought the SHoopers Drug Mart version of CLA for 21.99. I had read back other posts here and saw some tried it as well. I also am out of the vits, but until pay day Friday that is ok. I have had one heck of a CRAPOLA day. Soooo glad I am moving on to a better night. but I only had a kitkat as a cheat..but I think I need water...lotsof water. I arranged for my w.i for weds after work....so I have days to do what I havent been doing in weeks.

btw...I find when I have the starch for mid brekkie...it really helps me out hunger wise..but I think I am sharper brain wise when I have eggs for brekkie instead...

doughgirl192 03-16-2009 07:20 PM

well I haven't gone to weight in.......gonna go at the end of the week.......and so far.......I haven't lost anything last week.......I have no idea why.......but I'm not pleased!
So yesturday I started walking......went again today, and I went with the van to clock how far I've walked..........7.5km!
So with anyluck......I'll loose something! UGGG

Feeling discouraged as ****! :(

UglyFatFriend 03-17-2009 12:06 PM

Hey ladies, I was up .8..kinda expcted it after the 4.6 drop though!!! According to the success chart in my book, my projected weight loss was 30lbs I am down 45.2 so overall, still doing well!!

Jenni 03-17-2009 12:31 PM

UFF: You are doing awesome. Wow, 15 pounds ahead. That is great. You will be at your goal weight in no time if you keep that up. Quite an inspiration.

doughgirl: 7.5km, that is awesome. Wow, I am sure I wouldn't be able to walk that far. Good job on that. Keep it up and I am sure the scale will be flying downwards.

2 dogs: Way to go on finding out how your body works with different combinations of food. I find some days, I am so hungry that I finish all my snacks for the day by lunchtime and others, I could even care less if I eat breakfast. I haven't been able to piece it all together yet. Way to get to know your body.

I was down 2 pounds over the weekend which I am very happy with. I will be happy if I can maintain that for the rest of the week. I have a couple of obsticles this weekend so hopefully, I can keep this off. I am at 65 pounds now and really hoping to get another 10 off before Mexico at the end of April. I am really looking forward to spring so I can get outside with activities more.

mememegogirl 03-17-2009 01:26 PM

UFF, you are an inspiration. Way to go. I can tell that you are really working very hard at this. I know you must be happy with your success thus far and I know you will have continued success at this rate. How are you finding your clothing now? They say every 10 lb is a size. Do you find that to be true?

2 dogs: Thanks for sharing your success and pitfalls. The reality is that it is hard work to lose weight and I am so grateful that we can share this journey with one another.

Jenni, you are doing so great! With determination and a goal in sight I know that you can really make a difference before your trip to Mexico. Can you set a reward for yourself like a new bathing suit or a sundress or something like that?

doughgirl, hang in there. I think all of us can attest to frustration where we do all the right things and the scale remains unchanged. Perhaps you can focus on how your clothes are feeling or how great it feels to go for a walk. Exercise will make a huge difference overall to how your body looks and feels. Way to go. Don't worry.. that scale will move soon! Keep at it!

As for me, I don't weigh in until Saturday. So I have 4 + days to really work hard. I am trying the CLAs and the L-Gluts. I am not starved at any point in the day and I feel different .. good different. I hope, I hope, I hope that this will be a good week for me.

UglyFatFriend 03-17-2009 02:39 PM

Aww thanks so much ladies! I needed that boost i have been feeling really down lately. Numerous reasons but one was that i feel as though my loss is not visiable and its bothering me. I feel like at almost50lbs gone you should be able to tell but i cant!

meme: I defintaely don't think i have droped 4 sizes...but its possible i guess, i have jeans that go from 20 - 25...the sizing is all so outta whack! I did notice that i threw my jeans into the dryer and they shrunk up but still fit lol. I have about 5 pairs of my 'skinny' jeans that i couldnt get past my hips and can now so i guess i am noticing changes like that, i havent bought anything new yet though, im waiting for the 50lb mark :) I set a goal for myself of 10 lbs a month, its 2 more than herbals projected goal but i like to strive higher ha ha.

And you ladies are all doing so well as well, as long as i have this site to vent on i think i will keep it up, i love having people around that understand this journey, its one nobody can fully understand until they try it.

2 dogs 1 lady 03-17-2009 04:52 PM

Evening Ladies!

Another work day over..and i have to say, it has been a wonky week already.:dizzy: I feel like a fire fighter constantly yelling "more hose!" *ugh*
I started the CLA's this am. 1000mg which is MORE than the HM one, so I think I will only take 2 or 3 per day.
I brought my steel cut oats to work this am and was so busy with meetings I never got to eat them. :?:I had 5 cookies, a small pc of cake and irish stew for luch and i STILL think i am under calories!!!! I can not get over the stress. I think a big part of things right now is that I am not sleeping well at all. a few nights in a riw and I can not get aleep for hours nor can I stay asleep. I think i am going to change the bed sheets, take a loooong hot shower before I go to bed (put on nice smelling lotion that I love) and just curl into bed. Sometimes that helps....feel nice and clean and go to bed. I think I am going to try and stay up a bit later and NOT have anythng after 7 pm. Not even water.

Some times the simplest things make a difference..matter of fact, I am going to burn a nice cd with my fave tunes too. Sometimes you need to set the stage for life...just like it losing weight. You need to set the stage...... So as another preparation for a good night, i am going to prepare my lunch & snakcs for tomorrow this evening! Yes, I feel better already....

hope some of you are following me on this...:cloud9:

bride2b 03-17-2009 04:56 PM

hey ladies!! iv been soo horrible at posting lately but i do read everyday haha and im glad to see everyone is still working hard! i wieghed in today im down to 196, so thats 30lbs and 41 1/4 inches gone in 19 weeks, im pretty happy today i felt soo motivated i walked to and from work (about 25mins each) and enjoyed the sunshine on my face!!..finally lol. anyways as i was walking i got to thinking about life and realized that this weightloss is only going to make me look/feel better which is the reason why i am doing it but i realized its going to help me with my career. i work in health care, and all day long am telling ppl how to take care of there bodies, to stretch, to exercise ect ect. and why would they listen to me when i looked like i didnt follow my own advice?
anyways i guess i had a little self realization moment today and needed to share lol! So everyone go for a walk today and enjoy the warm air and sunshine lol..maybe it will help give u another reason to stay motivated like it did me today!!

bride2b 03-17-2009 04:59 PM

hey 2 dogs sorry to hear ur stressed and cant sleep, get some epsom salts to put in ur bath and i promise you will b out liike a light!

Jenni 03-17-2009 05:47 PM

meme: I don't think it is a general 10 lbs. a size. I think the bigger you are, the bigger the span between sizes. I started at size 24 and am now starting to buy size 18 after 65 pounds so I think that is about 15 pounds a size for me. I am 5'-7" and I am sure it would be different for people of different heights as well. Someone 5' tall that lost 60 pounds would probably be down more sizes. I have more area for the fat to hide!!

UFF: That is great that you are in skinny jeans. Just wait until they become too loose. I have a hard time seeing the results as well. I am hoping that once I get out of the "obese" category (which for me is 194 pounds) that I will feel much better. I still look in the mirror and see all the fat that is there. It is hard to remember how much more there once was. I don't know if that makes sense; but that is how I feel.

2dogs: Not nice to not be able to sleep. I hate that. I sure hope your bath idea works. I find without enough sleep, it makes it harder to do anything; especially exercise. I do find that if I exercise every day that I sleep great at night. Good luck tonight.

bride: nice to see you post. That is awesome that you walked to work and back. And you lost 30 pounds and 41 1/2 inches. Wow, that is lots of inches. It is great that you had an AHA! moment about your job as well. You are right, people are more likely to take advice from someone who looks in good health. I would love the sunshine to come out. I am so sick of winter!!!

2 dogs 1 lady 03-17-2009 07:49 PM

ok..so annonominity makes it ok for me to tell you this here...you see my weight number...I took an epsom salt bath a few months ago..or tried too...I have a 40 yr old tub (not the nice big ones) but a small one...and I did not fit so well....I would never admit that in the 3d world..so no bath..but I have taken shark cartlidge, naprosyn, CLA and am getting ready for bed.

I also had a tension tamer tea earlier as well.

ready for a good night sleep now!!

hugs to all my chickies and y'all are doing well! Every day, every meal we do is a success!!

Jenni 03-18-2009 12:53 PM

Well, I sure hope you got some sleep last night. Do you feel better today?

mememegogirl 03-18-2009 01:35 PM

Can anyone explain to me about CLA's? I know what my centre has to say about them but I would like to hear it firsthand from one of you who isn't trying to sell a product.

Jenni 03-18-2009 01:48 PM

CLA is meant to help shrink fat cells. They are not meant to help you lose weight, just inches. I did them (from the drugstore) for 6 months and I still have a fat belly.

justteena 03-18-2009 02:45 PM

I'm so excited to see a Herbal Magic support group :) I went to herbal magic from Feb 2007 to Feb 2008 and lost 103 pounds, I still had a ways to go but thought I could save myself the $50 plus a week and do it on my own. To make a long story short, I rejoined this week, gaining back 19 lbs of what I had lost, but with a renewed determination to reach my goal!

Jenni 03-18-2009 04:03 PM

Welcom Teena: Way to go on tht 103 lb. loss. That is awesome!

2 dogs 1 lady 03-18-2009 04:54 PM

ugh! So I gained almost 4lbs in 2 weeks. I know what from and what not from..so I am working on it. I had amuch better sleep last night thank you...

Jenni 03-18-2009 05:06 PM

2 dogs: that sucks! I have had those weigh in's. They suck. The important thing is that you get back on. You are always one meal away from a good meal.

mememegogirl 03-18-2009 08:16 PM

2 dogs, don't let the 4 lbs discourage you too badly. We have all been in your shoes. I had a recent and similar experience and it was just what I needed to get back on track. Hang in there! I am glad you got some sleep. That helps any cause!

Teena...103 lbs! That is great! Way to go for continuing on in your efforts!

Jenni, so are you saying that CLAs aren't worth the effort? I am realizing more and more that I don't reallly have any clue what I am taking or why. That is my own fault... I should research more I suppose.

I think I might run out of chroms before my weigh-in Saturday. Will this matter much?

Jenni 03-19-2009 09:03 AM

meme: I am not saying the CLA is a waste. I think it works differently on everyone and it didn't make much of a difference for me so I have stopped. I think anything is worth trying. As far as running out of Chrom., I am not sure how much of a difference it will make. I think the most important thing is to make sure your food intake is good and all should be well.

MicheleR 03-19-2009 08:45 PM

New Beginner

Hello! I just started the HM program on March 15th and have never been part of a forum before but you all sounded so supportive that I thought I'd give it a try! Any hints and tips for a new beginner?:)

mememegogirl 03-19-2009 10:26 PM

Welcome Michele! Glad to have you! As for hints and tips... I would have to say that you should do your very best to stick as closely to the program as possible. The measuring of food and the journalling are crucial. Go in to the centre as often as possible and take your supplements. I know I'm not saying anything that your centre wouldn't say but maybe hearing it from one of us might help you do that much better at the start here.

Again.. welcome :)

2 dogs 1 lady 03-20-2009 05:14 PM

I heard something interesting today from the centre..

You should eat protein BEFORE starch as it (starch) can convert to sugar easier by itself..Protein kicks your metabolism into gear!!

mememegogirl 03-20-2009 06:15 PM

That is interesting.... I've always made myself eat my veggies first. I wonder how that comes into play with the protein and starches?

MicheleR 03-20-2009 07:30 PM

Perhaps I should continue to eat my scrambled eggs for breakfast if that's the case!

It's so nice to see a group of people able to support each other... and you all seem to be doing quite well on your way to your goals!

I've stuck to the plan except I still chew gum everyday and couldn't find anything about it on the list so hoping it doesn't count... Also hoping that my measuring has been correct. I find it very difficult to figure out how much of solid foods (cauliflower, carrots, etc.) is equal to a cup.

Heading in for my first visit and weigh in tomorrow. My scale at home seems to be fluctuating quite a bit and at one point today read 3 lbs higher than my starting weight... I really hope this works 'cause I don't think I can stick to the plan any better (minus the gum!)

mememegogirl 03-21-2009 11:48 AM

I too am a gum chewer.

The first weigh-in is exciting/scary. But I would bet you that you will be pleasantly surprised by it. Waterloss in the first little bit usually contributes to big numbers initiallly.

Speaking of the role of water and weight fluctuations... I HATE TOM! Seriously! If it isn't one thing it is another with me these days. First of all the problem with elimination and now TOM has to rear its ugly head right when I was feeling good about everything. UGH! All of that said... I am down 2.6lbs since last week. So that is ok... but I was certain it would be better because I feel different. BLAH! I am discouraged. In the overall scheme of things I still have only lost and gained the same 7lbs. Of course there was the weeks that I gave up and went back to old habits and gained the entire weight back and then some. So really.. I have lost 10 lbs and most of it in the last 3 weeks... but with the big picture I am very unhappy with myself. I want to do so much better. I have my minigoal in sight of losing 2lbs more minimum by next Saturday. But I am discouraged....... :(

2 dogs 1 lady 03-21-2009 05:43 PM

Afternoon everyone!

I think one of the most important things is..our weight is JUST a number...it is how our clothes fit that really matters. If you are still up a lb but your clothes feel looser, than something is happenening...:carrot:

I was down a bit over 2 lbs this am...and my clothes don't feel any different...but by this weekend they WILL!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~CHALLENGE!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Should we have a one week challenge ladies??
Not to see who can lose the most weight...but WHO CAN STICK TO THE PROGRAM!!!!!
If you can do it..(honestly) I will have a gif made for you...not fancy, but with YOUR name!!![
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j2...awgs/3chmg.jpg
mememegogirl 03-21-2009 07:44 PM
I am totally down for a 1 week challenge? What are the rules? :)
doughgirl192 03-21-2009 09:44 PM
I'll do the 1 week challenge!
LOL for me could be as simple as drinking water to excercise LOL
So, 6.5 lbs since Feb 24th! So I guess its not bad! Was hoping for a bigger # though!
Started the walking......not been doing it daily, but as much as I can, and I think its been 4 days out of 7 ;)
Hope you're all doing well :)
Do anyone of you have a before and during pic of yourself? Care to share......give insperation to some of us :D
MicheleR 03-22-2009 12:42 AM
The one week challenge sounds good and might be the inspiration I need after a very crappy weigh in. Only down one pound... I thought it would be more as I seem to be in the washroom every 45 minutes and could hardly make it the 50 minute drive into the city!
Is there anyone else here who started off slow in the first week? If so, can you please let me know that the numbers get better (but only if it's the truth)
Good job on the loss meme and dough girl! I too have to get exercising... although I did walk around the mall for a few hours today! haha
2 dogs 1 lady 03-22-2009 10:31 AM
Meme, Dough, Michele, and anyone else
I think the rules should be simple...PUSH hard to follow your HM plan all week. That is as simple as it is...post your results on Saturday too. It doesn't matter if we lost the most or the least or inches..as long as we "stick to it"!
EVERY NIGHT YOU POST HERE HOW YOU DID....if you feel yourself lagging, ask for help!
tips..prepack your lunches the night before....write down on a pc of paper what you will eat the night before for the next day so you can follow it without thinking an getting frusterated!
Michele, do not worry about a slow start!!! which qlp program are you on??
for brekkie eat protein and starch...and some fruit.
2 dogs 1 lady 03-22-2009 10:31 AM
fyi I was eating the WW multigrain bread..thats a no-no on HM. either WW white or WW but not multigrain.
MicheleR 03-22-2009 11:17 AM
I'm on QLP II for now until I get below 200. The staff said that after that I switch to smaller portion sizes (not sure if that's QLP I?). Wish I could have started on smaller portions... I seem to be eating (or thinking about it) all the time! I have noticed myself getting hungry more often now than before, so maybe that means my metabolism is kicking into a higher gear.
I noticed that the white ww bread counted as fewer points so I have been eating it since the begininng, but thanks for the info.
Lady: thanks for the challenge idea... I think everyone posting everyday will help us all stick to it!
P.S. Had a Breyers low cal ice cream sandwich as my free exchange yesterday - DELICIOUS! Although I'm sure you all already know that!
