MEL...we must of posted at the same time....Hope your neck gets to feeling better....

diyana 05-14-2008 08:31 AM

Happy Wednesday Ladies -

I took a lovely 1/2 hour walk at lunch. Then when I got home, I didn't feel like going to the gym, but I went anyway and did 1/2 hour on the treadmill and then some ab exercises. And I felt much better afterward. Thank you all for your wisdom about having some fat in the diet. I thought I'd read that somewhere. Now I just have to figure out how to gently tell my friend that it's not healthy for her to go too long without fat.

Annie - YGG on getting all those walks in! With all that yard work, you definitely got your strength training workout in.

Shad - Smothered in endorphins! I love that! For me, it's more like dripping with endorphins! Unfortunately, I can't see your photos. But the captions are cute! It's wonderful that you can work from home and multi-task your household tasks with your work tasks. Good luck with the IT folks.

Rennie - you are devious! Taping the toilet seat closed! That's funny!

Mel - Now, now, you are not a lowly serf. As the exercise :queen:, I dub you ALL exercise and motivation queens! :queen: you relax your shoulders and neck, Mel. Do you have any Deep Heat or Ben Gay? That might help.

Happy - I'm glad Mr. Feral seems to be getting better. I hope you have a good day at work.

A big  to everyone else! I've gotta run!

Here's to a wonderful day for all of us!

:grouphug:

I've skimmed through the post but don't have time to comment.

Tomorrow is the first day of vacation for me. I'm ready. My sister fromo TX is flying into Jonesboro around noon. I'll pick her up and we are off to the big even in Missouri.

I'm taking my laptop so I'll be able to stay in touch.

More later.

Shad 05-14-2008 06:14 PM

Morning all

Coffee is made - good strong brew this morning, so come on down and :coffee: join me on the patio in the morning sunshine. It's a bit nippy mind so wear socks/sox and a jumper/ sweater/ jersey/ guernsey (depending on whether you are Kiwi, American, British or Aussie. You'll be able to strip off in about 1/2 hour. The birds are singing - well squarking actually - Aus doesn't have too many songbirds and none around here.

No gym for this bunny today. I've done my weekly dose until Saturday so today I will load up the car for a run to the dump, get my kicks from humping some boxes from the shed to the house unpacking and repacking and humping them all the way back again. Plus a little energetic housework and I should be okay for the day. Oh yes and there is of course the stress of work.

I fixed my own IT problems yesterday. Really I should work in that section. The IT in this company is, I have decided, like a medium intelligent man. (MIM). It's relatively simple, almost logical, and likes to act complicated. (SLAC) So fiddle fart around on the inside long enough and you will come across a tick box that will solve all the problems and get the bloke working once more. (BwOM). No further problems to report.

As for the gym. It's like a cone of silence has descended on the fate of the trainer and the class. She is still there. She is leaving but not until later. Classes may or may not continue to be disrupted in order to train new instructors and it may or may not continue to be given in its present time slot. Sounds like the US naval security bloke in Wellington all those years ago when NZ was declared a nuclear free zone, who said during a protest rally:
I can not confirm or deny the presence or absence of nuclear or conventional weaponry aboard this US Navy vessel.
Useless waste of words - did he really think we thought that they would go back to San Diego for them in the event of some sort of confrontation?
Anyway for those interested, the class goes on, I keep going, I keep out of the politics that surround it. I am still looking around for other gyms and programs to suit the lifestyle.

Today, I also have to go get that last Hep A shot from the medical centre. Oh Joy, what fun. And there is a teleconference at 11.00am my time as well, so I can't afford to sit in the Drs surgery for any length of time. It's a pity there isn't a Wai Ora (fountain of youth) injection they can give me as well.

Michelle - how long is your friend expected to last on that stupid diet? and what is she allowed to eat. Has to be fruit and veg only by the sound of it and more veg than fruit. That's okay, but unless you are strictly vegetarian or vegan not much fun - no eggs, no cheese, no milk, no anything with filling natural bulk really. I personally think that it is a dangerous diet for any length of time and any weight loss resulting will be temporary to say the least.
I always have to self talk to get to the gym. It's stupid really because I quite enjoy myself while I am there and it brings out my competitive streak (only compete with myself) to do better than I did previously. And you are also right O Goddess of Exercise that one should not do the same exercise repeatedly without a break - it does not do the body any good. I've read somewhere that 3 cardio sessions and 2 weight/ resistance sessions should be done each week. 45 mins min. But I've also read that 3 x 30 minutes of exercise per week should suffice. Doesn't with me, but then this fat has been here a while and is set hard!
Can't understand why you can't see those pics. Anyone else having trouble??

Rennie - I am sure you will dream up something exciting for revenge.

Annie - 50 mins of walk is good exercise - provided of course that you put some effort into it and not just totter around on the stilettos.  Heaving blocks is great exercise. They even do it on the biggest loser.

Mel - did you think they were going to pay me for 6 months for doing nothing? Oh dear no. However I find I can squash my 8 hours into about 6 working from home because there are fewer interuptions and it is just plain nice being able to sit in the sunshine and plan out the program instead of an overcold office with everyone trying to use the facilities at the same time.
So Marie is on her way home. Sounds like a wasted journey to me. What did she do apart from whine and wind up the friends while she was away? Did she get to see anything? do anything interesting? go out to dinner? take in a show? Huh?? What's the point in sitting with good friends and whinging. Can do that over the 'net from home cheaper.

Morning Happy - obviously busy with the anticipated visit with Mum. Hope all is progressing nicely for you in that direction. Good idea to take a week R & R to get some of things done for yourself. Never enough time in this world when you have to work.

Morning Ceejay.

The Canadians have all gone back to hibernation - except for Ruth who is out and about organising the world in gardens, bake offs, fairs and fetes and pet therapy. Got to love how busy she is. Wonder what she used to be like at work? Maybe she only had to work half of the year because she could fit twice as much into each day as anyone else.

And that's it. Coffee's done, time to get dressed and start the day. Have a good one.

Hey - gimme my ball back!

Smile - never let them know what you've been upto

CEEJAY~ WHAT MISSOURI EVENT?? I SEEM TO HAVE FORGOTTEN :faint: WISHING YOU WELL ON YOUR VACATION AND HAVE A GREAT TIME WITH THE SIS :cheer2:

ANNIE & MICHELLE....IF YOU BOTH KEEP WALKING MAYBE YOU CAN MEET IN THE MICDDLE AND WALK TOGETHER :running: :running:

SHAD~ I HAVE COME TO THINK MARIE WAS ON SOME KIND OF QUEST FOR HER "INNER GROWTH". I ALSO THINK SHE JUST MIGHT HAVE GOTTEN ENOUGH INFO TO GET HER THRU IT. BUT I SURE HOPE SHE SAW ENOUGH "GOOD STUFF" TO COMPENSATE FOR THE BAD PARTS. I LOVE HER DEARLY BUT ECCENTRICITY WAS NEVER MY STRONG SUIT IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. PART OF ME THINKS SHE NEEDS TO "TOUGHEN UP".
I KNOW SHE DID THE TOURISTY THING IN EUROPE AND THE BRITISH ISLES BUT NOT IN NYC. :dunno:
:cofdate: I WILL JOIN YOU FRO BREKKIE AND TAKE A PASS ON YOUR STRONG COFFEE IF YOU WILL GIVE ME A DRINK WITH A LITTLE UMBRELA IN IT INSTEAD! :beach:
HOPE THE GYM SORTS ITSELF OUR....AND YES IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE IF THEY PAID YOU FOR NOT WORKING :lol3:

I THOUGHT I HAD HURT MY ARM/SHOULDER BUT IT IS THE SINUS/GLAND/FLUID THING. WONDERED WHY THE PATCH AND TABLETS DIDN'T REALLY HELP
SOMETIMES I WONDER HOW I DON'T SEE THE SIGNS BUT THEN THEY ARE SO SIMILAR. BUT I AM ON THE RIGHT STUFF AS OF LAST NIGHT. JEN AND I HAD A GREAT VISIT YESTERDAY. ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHERE IT JUST SEEMS TOO SHORT. SHE HAS AN IPOD KIND OF THING FOR MONTHS NOW. WAS A CHRISTMAS GIFT. WE SPENT HOURS BY OURSELVES AND WITH TWO FROM THE OFFICE TO NO AVAIL TRYING TO GET IT LOADED AND WORKING.
I DECIDED AFTER SHE LEFT TO TRY AGAIN. IT WAS OVER 2 HOURS BUT I FINALLY GOT A CD DOWNLOADED INTO THE PC AND INTO THE POD. LORD WHAT A PAIN. I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN DOWN HOW I DID IT BECAUSE THIS MORNING I FORGET!  ONE GOOD THING WAS I FOUND A USB PORT RIGHT IN THE FRONT OF MY DELL PC  I ALSO HAVE MY PC UP ON A TALLER TABLE NOW THAT A NEIGHBOR GAVE ME. MAKES LIFE MUCH EASIER. THE PC TURNED ITSELF OFF YESTERDAY SAYING IT WAS A THERMAL PROBLEM. NOT SURE WHAT THAT WAS ALL ABOUT. I WAS PLUGGING IN JEN'S TOY AND I THINK I GAVE IT A RUG "SHOCK". I FORGOT TO GROUND MYSELF BEFORE I DID METAL TO METAL. THANK GOD I DIDN'T BLOW EITHER IPOD OR PC :faint:
IT WOULD TAKE MY ENTIRE FULLY PAID OFF QVC ACCOUNT TO REPLACE BOTH OF THEM :lol3: :lol3:
I HAVE RAMBLED ON FAR TOO LONG HERE.
HAPPY THURSDAY/FRIDAY :moped:

 TO HAPPY JUST IN CASE SHE SNUCK IN HERE!!

happy2bme 05-15-2008 07:55 AM

Good morning ladies,

I'm afraid I don't have time to do much more than barely lurk lately. I'm so far behind - at home and at work that I'm almost at the point of saying why bother :dunno: We're leaving late Friday night / early Saturday morning and driving through the night. Should miss most of the truck traffic that way. We're going to be pretty busy when we get there at least 2 things to do each day and before you know it, we'll be turning around and headed back again. Looking forward to meeting my newest great nephew. One month old. He's very cute from what I hear, even my mom said "Makes you want to have a baby".

Gotta run. We took DH's car in for service on Monday and they messed something up. Argued with him at first when we brought it back that whatever it was doing was normal and would eventually reset. He said I don't buy that  and was getting more and more ticked off. I told him to let's wait and see for 2 days. Sure enough he was right, something was wrong. I asked him why he was getting so mad and he said "I just paid $800 for service and they were talking to me like I was a GIRL or something". Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - WELCOME TO MY LIFE!!!! Anyway, we have to leave early to drop the car off and he will take me to work. We're taking his car on the road trip so it needs to be fixed right.

Take care ladies, don't know if I will be back much before we leave but I'll try and post quick at lunch if I can...

MELODY525 05-15-2008 07:56 AM

diyana 05-15-2008 09:06 AM

I went to the gym last night and did a 1/2 hour cardio dance class and a 1/2 hour weights class. These classes were at the "other" gym (not geared toward beginner exercisers) and they kicked my butt, but in a good way. Not going to the gym tonight as it's DH's b'day and we're going out to dinner. I found out from my friend who goes to Gold's Gym, that she's actually on a low fat, not a no fat, diet, and it sounds like a healthy plan, so I feel relieved. She's allowed to have meat, veggies, limited carbs and eventually fruit. The way she described it at first was much stricter than she explained to me yesterday.

CeeJay - Have a fantastic vacation in Missouri!

Shad - I'm just about to go get a cup of java too, so I'll join you. You will definitely get a workout. Sorry to hear that there is such confusion about the fate of your classes and your trainer. I try for 4 or 5 cardio sessions of 30 minutes or more each, and 2 or 3 weight/resistance sessions. And I do sometimes have to drag my butt to the gym, and I don't always enjoy working out when I'm doing it, but I LOVE the energy and endorphins I feel afterward! I see the pictures this time, they are adorable!

Mel - That's a great idea about Annie and I walking and meeting up in the middle. Annie, would that be in Chicago? We could walk and shop along the Magnificent Mile (yah, like I could afford those shops! NOT!). I'm glad to hear that you did not hurt your shoulder. Have you tried a nettie pot for your sinuses? I've never used one, but I know many people who swear by them. PC Thermal problems can occur if the computer's fan/vent area is blocked or if something is located to close to the vent. It can also occur in an overly warm room. I've had both happen. Basically, the computer senses it is running too hot and rather than fry the motherboard, CPU, memory, etc., it shuts down. Make sure you don't have the computer sitting on or near anything that blocks its vents. And make sure that you don't let it run and run all day if you're not on it and the room it is in is warm. I'm glad the static shock didn't damage the ipod or PC. Those things are nasty to electronics.

Happy - Don't get stressed. Just enjoy your trip. Safe travels to the Chicagolands (that's where Mom lives right?), fun time there, and then safe travels back to Elvis-ville!

Well, gotta go, Ladies! Here's to a great day for all of us...full of smiles, laughs, with a dash of sweat!

diyana 05-15-2008 09:07 AM

BTW, I don't know how I forgot to mention this.....as of this a.m., I am in the 1-derful numbers! As opposed to the 2-derful numbers. Yup, I broke the 200 mark today. 199.0 :goodscale: Yippppeeeee!! I'm so thrilled! I'm walking on sunshine and don't it feel good!!

Roseblush 05-15-2008 09:34 AM

Hi you Worldly travellers......nice to catch up with all of you! Such a busy month with graduation, travels and my mom getting hospitialized again. Last weekend I was the proud mother...Jesse received his Master's degree in architecture and it was terrific. Chad gets his B.S. in History this weekend. Lots of hard work and stress and effort for the boys and their mother through these years.....whew...what a relief and JOY!
My mom has been doing well this year with her new heart valves but she had a fever the other day and lost speech and memory but she is recovering now...... not ready to hit the floor running but she is improving.
I hope all is well with all of you family and friends.. my little dogs travelled well but my ole girl Teeka was choking on a crunchy on the trip and I had to dislogde it from her throat...it was quick and she is fine..
Take good care ....
Peace,
Nae

annie175 05-15-2008 09:36 AM

Michelle...Chicago it is..I have only been there one time, but would love to go back. Better start walking now. Congrats and welcome to onederland!! I am so very proud of you. ROCK ON SISTA!!

We are having a blood drive at work today. I am going to try to donate this morning at 10:00 and probably won't be worth a ding dang the rest of the day. It takes all my energy away.

I bought 60 bucks of gas this morning to fill my little Toyota Camry. I about crapped. Then bought 30 bucks worth for my son's truck for his testing at job interview. I blew 90 bucks on gas before 6:45 am and not a drop of coffee in me to carry me through. These gas prices are killing me and I only got 32.6 gallons to a mile this time with driving slower on the highways too. Ok, enough ranting about gas prices. $4.95 a gallon just plain sucks.

Hello to everyone...

Love and Hugs
