Good Evening, Flowers! We had an impromptu FAC meeting this afternoon so I didn't get home until late. I've had my nap in front of the TV and now I need to get started on the laundry. Our weather is supposed to turn colder over the weekend. I need to make a grocery list, a WM cat food run, and see if I can find some sort of birthday gift for Bob before Sunday. I have to get the luggage out and start looking for my summer clothes that I want to take. Tomorrow will be busy!

"Gma" -- I watched some of the tornado reports on TV this morning. Years ago there was a tornado in my home town and since my dad had a pickup he and my mom could get into the damaged area to help sort and remove the debris. They always marveled at how one house would be completely gone while the house next door hadn't lost one shingle from the roof. When it happened they were in Sioux City helping me move into a different apartment because Bob had just left for Vietnam. I'm so glad you weren't in the path of destruction. I will be thinking of you on the 18th even though I won't be "here!" I hope you get a good report afterwards! The sweater is turning out really nice! I like the two colors together. I hope you enjoyed your evening with your family!

Well, I need to get the laundry started on the laundry since it is the maid's weekend "off." ;)

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Enjoy!

Good early morning to you all. I can't sleep upstairs on my back tonight so thought I would come down and see if I could get some sleep in the recliner. Sometimes when I can't sleep upstairs I can sleep in it.

I have an eye appt tomorrow and I noticed when she brought out the book they stuff them pretty close together so I imagine it won't be very thorough like my old eye dr was. Thank goodness I don't have any problems. Well, if I did, I would just pay for the exam at an opthomalogist instead.

Oh ick, that lady next door is cooking something foul again and at 1 in the morning. I don't know what it is, but it stinks up my whole house. It comes through the ventilation someway as my downstairs bathroom always stinks, my kitchen area and my upstairs bathroom of all places. Whatever this is, it permeates the whole house. I have heard that cooking chitlin's smells so I wonder if that it is. All I know is it is gagging.

We had a nice time tonight, but the restaurant was incredibly noisy so it was hard to talk to Thomas. It is sad for me as the older he gets the more he pulls away from us as we are not really a regular part of his lives like his other grandparents get to be. I wish it were different, but as you know from other things I have said, that is not going to change. He told me tonight that he now has 3 report cards with straight A's (a reminder that we haven't done anything for him) and I leaned over and told him, that I have tried and that if he wants to go out with us he needs to bug his mom and dad. I can only do what I can do and no one seems in any hurry to give me a time we can take him out. I got tickled because he said that the place we were planning on going was only worth TWO report cards! I guess even if we took him tomorrow we would still be in the hole with him. :) I said that I would like to take him to Nashville to the water park like last year and he said, "Oh, you want to take me to the water park and six flags?" I asked him if Nashville had a six flags and he said no and his mom interrupted and said, that no, THEY would be going to the water park and six flags. Ahhh well, what can you do?

You gals have a great evening and a nice Saturday. I am off to try and sleep for awhile.

Good Afternoon, Flowers! The sun is shining brightly, but the wind is really blowing hard and sending loose snow in every direction. I've been to WM and the grocery store, done some laundry with more to do, and just finished putting groceries away. I need to clean the bathrooms and vacuum before the kids get here tomorrow for lunch.

"Gma" -- I hope that you were able to get some sleep in the recliner. :sssh: I can remember my mom saying how sometimes she would wake up during the night and not be able to get back to sleep. She would never get up because my dad would wake up and come looking for her. So far, those nights are far and few between for me. I can sleep in the recliner, but I'm always afraid I will oversleep and be late for school. It is too bad that you can't spend more time with Thomas. I've always thought that grandchildren were closer to their mother's parents. I guess because I was and my kids were closer to mine. Bob's parents were closer to his sister's kids, etc., etc. I know that Beth's kids see Will's parents more often than us because they all live in the same place. Amanda's parents seem to favor her sister's kids but they live closer than Jason and Amanda do. Her parents are always willing to babysit but her mom works every other weekend so that doesn't always work out either. It seems like the older the kids get they are more involved in other activities and family get togethers aren't as important. Sad. :(

I need to keep moving. My lists don't have much crossed off and the days are counting down until next Friday. At least I'm smart enough not to iron my clothes before I pack them! Have a nice evening and a super Sunday tomorrow!

Good morning to you all! Hope your day is starting out well. I have the commissary run this morning and have to go back to Walmart and order my contacts. She changed my prescription just a bit and I am now back to wearing the same in both eyes, which makes it easy. As I said, we had to change our eye dr because the city changed insurance. I figured this insurance would be worse than the last, but it is actually better. The other vision insurance gave you a set $$ amount for an exam and if the dr charged more, you paid the difference. You then were given a set $$ amount towards contacts and a set $$ amount towards frames and lenses, which is the same with this one. I paid $15 for my exam and they give you $150 towards your contacts, but you have to pay a couple things. One is the fitting, which is $30 and can either be paid outright or taken off the $150, which is what I had them do, the other is a $15 copay for materials. Now this you either pay $15 or if you spend more than your allotted amount, and it is more than $15, you pay that and no copay. Walmart's contacts are pretty expensive I think, but I have $120 to use and I am going to get 6 boxes, 3 for each eye and I will have another $35 approx out of pocket. I am then going to go to the place I use online, Vision Direct and order a full year's supply, which is 8 boxes and they only charge you less than $15 a box and free shipping. This way, I have plenty of lenses in case I lose one or both while sleeping, tear them etc. I hate having to go back and forth getting extra lenses all the time. All in all, doing that I think my total at Walmart is around $50 and then $143 for the online lenses. That really isn't bad. It cost me $90 last time at the other dr and that was with only the exam and one box per eye. I then paid $20 a box at the online place.

I have a partial sleeve to do then I am done with the sweater except to sew it up. I didn't order enough yarn, however so I don't know whether I am going to order more to make the hat or make it out of something else. I have so much stash, I imagine I can make it out of some other color. I will then conquer the little pants.

Jean: I think most of what is going on with T is that we get to see him so rarely and that Tom's parents have him everyday. It really saddens me because I enjoy him so very much, but at this point I have resigned myself to whatever time I do get. I did some Wally shopping after the eye exam and found a couple pair of yoga pants that are so comfortable to wear. A lot of my regular pants I can't wear with the bag right now as they restrict movement and will then pull the bag away from the skin. I had that happen yesterday just as we got home I guess, because I was driving, got out of the car and felt this wet. What a mess, though a controled one. Not that it would have helped in this situation, but I always forget to take my fanny pack that has a set of everything I am supposed to carry everywhere.

Guess I will get in the recliner for a few and knit on that sweater some more. Have a good Sunday everyone and a good start to the week tomorrow. I have cleaning to start on the morrow.
