Oh, I forgot to mention, Happy, that while all-seasons aren't too bad with a heavy car or 4-wheel drive, winter tires are like night and day when it's icy or when the snow hasn't been plowed yet. Of course now that I've got them, we may get no more big snow all winter, and I fully expect everyone to realize it's thanks to me.

MELODY525 12-29-2007 06:16 PM

CEEJAY I AM PLEASED FOR YOUT OO!! THE RAISE AND THE SCORE :cheer: I KNOW THE FEELING OF THINGS FROM CHILDHOOD HOLDING ME BACK TOO. JEN ALSO. WE'VE BEEN TRYING TO HELP EACH OTHER FORGIVE AND FORGET. <---HEALING HUGS FOR YOU TOO!

Shy Moment 12-29-2007 08:38 PM

Happy
That 120lbs is comeing closer and closer when I am going to quit smokeing. I talked to my lung doctor about that. You all aren't going to like what he said. He said. While stopping smokeing is great and realy healthy for the lungs. It has NOTHING to do with what my problems are and won't fix the problem. If I had never smoked I would still have the problem and it would be just as bad as it is now lol. This has to do with scars on the lungs not anything else. Of course stopping smokeing is good for my body. It will make me a more healthy person. I will still have the problems I have.

happy2bme 12-29-2007 11:30 PM

Sorry Rennie - you can't be serious - you are only fooling yourself if you think that ingesting burning hot poisons into your already weakened lungs is not making a bad problem even worse for you.

What little bit you might gain through exercise you are destroying every time you light up.

And if you think otherwise, well I guess I understand now what I must have sounded like. Gives me more resolve to keep my quit and I thank you for that.

Ruthxxx 12-30-2007 07:42 AM

Good advice, IMHO, Happy. However, I think we got into quite a controversy over smoking a while ago. I believe Shad stomped on us and we decided to just leave the subject alone in the interests of keeping us one big happy family.

I'm outta here shortly - must get dressed first - to trundle myself off to Church. I have a scratchy throat and am hoping my zinc lozenges will fix that up as I have to sing The Coventry Carol. After that, it'll be a visit to Harry, some PC work and then yet another dinner party. The next onslaught of company comes tomorrow - actually I have to pick him up. Maybe I'll just "forget"! Can't do that as I have a 7 pound prime rib ordered for NY's Eve and need some guys to eat it up and save me from myself.

See y'all later.

MELODY525 12-30-2007 08:07 AM

NO OFFENSE MEANT BUT THAT LUNG DOCTOR NEEDS TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL. I HAVE A TEAM OF LUNG DRS THAT WOULD HANG HIS HIDE IN THE BARN:flame:

BUT....RENNIE GOOD LUCK WITH THE 120 LBS.

HAPPY~ I MISSED YOUR "NOTE" LAST NIGHT. BUT IT WORKED EVEN BIGGER WONDERS THIS MORNING. GOT A BIG OL' SMILE ON MY FACE  THANKS.
DID YOU FIND THE TILE? WE HAVE HOME DEPOT AND LOEWS. SEEMS THEY ARE PUTTING A LOT OF OTHERS OUT OF BUSINESS. JUST LIKE WALMARTS!:faint:

RUTH~ FORGET TO PICK HIM UP??? THAT WOULD BE TOO FUNNY:lol3: :lol3: WELL MAYBE NOT FOR HIM! ENJOY THE COMPANY!!

I THOUGHT I WAS SMELLING RUTH'S PRIME RIB ROAST THIS MORNING WHEN I WOKE....BUT IT WAS A NEIGHBOR BURNING A STEAK!! FOUND THE NALARM WAS RINGING AND DROVE MYSELF DOWN TO THE COLD LOBBY!! DANG THE TEMPS GO UP AND DOWN LIKE A ROLLERCOASTER. I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO WAKE UP THIS MORNING. JUST WANT TO SNUGGLE IN THE BLANKETS.
FUNNY STORY:(WELL TO ME IT IS) I TRANSLATED MY HOT WATER NOTE INTO SPANISH USING AN ON-LINE DICTIONARY. GOT THE IDEA FROM WHEN SHAD AND I USED TO WRITE MAORI NOTES. EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE HOUSE FOR SOMETHING, ONE OF THE HISPANICS RELL ME THAT I DID A GREAT JOB. THAT IT READS WRONG IN VERB TENSES AND THE ORDER IN WHICH THE WORDS ARE WRITTEN BUT THEY GOT THE DRIFT. THIS MORNING A BUNCH OF HOMEMAKERS WERE ALL COMING IN AS I WENT OUT TO RESET THE ALARM. THE WERE ALL TEASING ME ASKING WHO WROTE THE SIGN....OF COURSE THEY ALREADY KNEW FROM THEIR PATIENTS AND HAD A GOOD LAUGH. BUT THEY ARE ALL PLEASED AS PUNCH AT THE EFFORT. YESTERDAY A VISITING NURSE WAS P[ATTING MY BACK AND TOLD ME THEY ARE LUCKY TO HAVE ME HERE. THOSE ARE THE DAYS THAT MAKE IT NALL WORTH WHILE. SHE ASKED ME IF I NEEDED ANYTHING BEFORE SHE LEFT...I TOLD HR I NEEDED A NEW APARTMENT...PREFERABLY VERY FAR AWAY FROM HERE!!
SHE LEFT LAUGHING.
TODAY BELONGS TO ME. HOPE IT'S A QUIET ONE CAUSE TOMORROW IS 2 BOSSES ARE OFF AT THE SAME TIME AND THE PLUMBING JOB BEGINS. HOPE IT'S NOT TOO EARLY!!! THEN I AM FREE...WELL EXCEPT FOR THE HOLIDAY STINT. BETTER REST UP TODAY!
HAPPY SUNDAY/MONDAY AND HOPE THE SUN IS SHINING IN YOUR NECK OF THE WOODS. :moped:

happy2bme 12-30-2007 11:32 AM

Good morning ladies,

Another day dawns fresh and bright.

Lots of stuff on the to-do list so I won't spend much time here.

I hope your day is blessedly quiet Mel. That was very nice of you to try and communicate in Spanish. I would help but I probably only remember 20 words from high school and "there is the library" - asi es la biblioteca - wouldn't help much, I'm afraid unless they were looking for a how-to repair book

Go and sing like and angel Ruth - it's the spirit that counts, not the quality.

You guys have me in the mood for some nice prime rib. I'll have to see what they have at the store. It's been our traditional New Year's Eve feast. Yum, yum. :T

Carla, I have one of them, there rebounders up in the attic. Will have to dust the thing off and get into some run in place jogging if the springs don't protest too much. And I remember the snow tires of yesteryear. There was a time you'd put up the storm windows and change the tires on the car. I just thought now that they eliminated the seasonal swapping of tires and went with the year round ones. Shows what I know :dizzy:

Ok, DH is calling me to go look at the floor - gotta run now. Later chicks...

MELODY525 12-30-2007 11:54 AM

JUST IN CASE WE'RE GETTING A WEE BIT TOO DEMENTED IN DECEMBER......WE CAN SING OUR WAY OUT OF THIS MONTH....LA LA LA LA LA LA :belly:

If you need me
call me
no matter where you are
no matter how far

Just call my name
I'll be there in a hurry
On that you can depend and never worry

No wind (no wind)
no rain (no rain)
No winter's cold
can stop me
Babe (Oh Babe)
Baby (Baby)
If you're not cold

Oh

No wind
No rain
Can stop me baby if you are gone

I know
I know you must follow the sun
wherever it leads
But remember
if you should fall short of your desires
remember life holds for you one guarantee
you'll always have me

And if you should miss my lovin'
One of these old (days)
If you should ever miss the arms that use(d) to hold you so close
Or the lips that use(d) to touch yours so tenderly
Just remember
what I told you the day I set you free

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough (say it again)
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high enough
Nothing can keep me, keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high enough
Ain't no valley low enough (one more time)
Ain't no river wide enough (say it again)
To keep me from you

Roseblush 12-30-2007 11:58 AM

Hi everyone....I am up in the Flathead for a visit and the last 30 miles my car started to make an odd noise..... PTS...... that is me all over again when I feel car problems. WEll, hopefully it will just be a minor thing....pray for it!
I am at my sisters and enjoying my time being quiet. Went to a 50th birthday party...wow it was fun and that girl can still do the splits....it was a hoot! trying to make some thoughtful notes for the new year. I am hoping to be more active and make good health choices for the year along with all of you.
I wish you all well and take care of yourselves and your families.....
New Year's Blessings to All
Nae

Melody
Nice song made me smile.

Happy
Prime rib sounds great

I guess the lung docs in Ohio are stupid and know nothing lol. Scars cause low lung capacity, in my case because the lungs do not open and close as fully as they should. There is nothing that can be done about it. Nothing is going to make it better.

My son is going to be turning 21 soon. We are on the campaign for the horrors of drinking. What it does to family's, the people it kills every year. I know it is a social thing. I know it is acceptable. Drinking is my big pet peeve. How many people have just one to many and kill someone each and every day in this country.

Ruth
Church was very nice this morning. So far we really like this new church.

carla49 12-30-2007 12:12 PM

Hey, does anybody have some drugs to spare?? Mel?   The muscle relaxant doesn't seem to be doing much good, and of course no GP or clinic available today to get a scrip for something more effective. Of course I've had back spasms before, and I know it'll just go away on its own before too long, but meanwhile I can't even get dressed by myself. Hmmm. Maybe I'm being taught a lesson in patience to be applied next time I see the SM and her chronic back pain? Ironic that I've still managed to struggle to the fridge and back...

Happy, most people here still think all-seasons are good enough, but that thinking is changing. Quebec has actually just made winter tires a legal requirement, although I don't know the details. I think Ontario may soon follow. Now if they could just legislate brains, forcing everyone to adjust their driving to the road and weather conditions...

Ruth, I thought I heard an angel singing, and now I find out it was you! I had no idea you were a songbird as well as an artist, chef, peacekeeper, and all-around bon vivant.
Like you, I'm spending new year's eve eating beef with my best - gay - friend. Of course if Wendy's is open, it may just be a burger. :lol3:  :lol3: Or even something from the freezer if I still haven't managed to get myself dressed.

Later gators!

carla49 12-30-2007 12:20 PM

Mel, thanks for the song! The feeling is mutual.

Rose, happy quiet new year to you too. I hope the car survives! (What does PTS mean?? :?:)

Ruthxxx 12-30-2007 12:24 PM

Yup, snow tires are a must around here too although I have the so-called "all season" radials on my Focus. I do lots of back country roads and feel great with them. I also carry an emergency kit including bear claws for getting out of bad situations.

That was no angel, Carla. I just listened to myself as recorded and heard all sorts of slightly off key notes. I'll transpose it to a lower key before next time.

Hey, I have THREE gay guys coming for dinner so I beat you. I usually go all out for NY's Eve with velvet, cleavage and pearls but won't do that this year. They would be too jealous!

Now I need to get at the cooking and organizing for the event. I certainly don't need to go buy any booze as there are 9 bottles of Champagne left from the Christmas Eve bash. And by the way Shy, we always have designated drivers at these events.

See y'all tomorrow if and when the dust settles.

ceejay52 12-30-2007 01:24 PM

Carla and Ruth
I've seen the time where I wished for snow tires. Something tells me we are going to have more snow in the south this year.

Mel
Thanks for the song. I bought Bob Greene's book yesterday. I'll be starting over again on the Jan 1.

Nae
Hope there is nothing wrong with the car. Enjoy your quiet time with you sister.

Happy, dyanna, madcat, reenie have a good day.

My coworker called me yesterday to thank me for working for him and volunteered to work this week for me. I told him I appreciated the jester but I needed to work to get the reports out. I'll be taking some time off soon. The funeral for his grandaughter will be tomorrow.

All this talk of prime rib makes me hungry. We southerners have turnip green's, hog jawl, and purple hull peas. I'm not a big fan of the hog jawls so I usually go with some type of pork. Pork is for luck, greens represents money not sure what the purple huill peas stand for. Purple hull peas must be for health.
