Poor Mel. Rest up old buddy and keep chugging the water and taking naps. I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Ruthxxx 11-11-2007 07:15 AM

Poor Mel! I hope she's better soon.

My early morning visitor yesterday was friend Art who had some venison for me. Of course he came in for coffee and I ended up cooking him breakfast. I seldom have bacon but had bought some for my company so it all worked out. Lovely venison steak, Shad - I'll think of the lousy one you had in Merrickville when I cook it.

Dinner went well and a good time was had by all - even Elaine (13) who laughed and talked with the adults. She also had her very first glass of champagne - there may be a connection. :)

Everyone is still asleep except me and the Doggage. I'm going to get some breakfast and then get organized for Church. There's a Remembrance Day ceremony at 11 and I'm hoping to work in a Harry visit later. I'm not sure when they are leaving but am assuming mid afternoon. If they stay for dinner, there's lots of leftovers - no stuffed tomatoes though!

Have a sunny Sunday no matter the weather.

happy2bme 11-11-2007 11:03 AM

Good morning chicks,

Mel - rest up and join us soon - we will miss you

Sounds like everyone is busy. Me too. Trying to hunker down and get some things done. As always about 100 times more things to do than time to do them in. Got to stay focused as I get more easily distracted the more I have to do ;)

Enjoy your Sunday ladies. I'll try and pop by tonight.

Hollyhock 11-11-2007 03:34 PM

Take care Mel!!

Ruth- wishing i was at your house..............

Our cenotaph service and church service were wonderful. My kids were well behaved and really listened. The kids sang too.
We have picked up groceries, put stuff away and then cleaned and deliver some Avon. I have 6 loads of laundry to do.
This week coming up is completely wackily FULL!!!! Hoping all goes as scheduled.

HUGS!!!!

Shad 11-11-2007 04:34 PM

Morning all,
Ruth - what a nice man to bring you something to do so early in the morning. Hope it is infinitely better than the forgettable Merrickville dinner - not the company but the main course itself. As I remember, the wine and conversation flowed very well and the rest of the meal was fine. We must try it again sometime.
Remembrance day came and went. I had every intention of going to the service at Kings Park however I really felt bad and I was at work and somehow things didn't happen. Must be a first. Normally I am the one handing out the rosemary sprigs. Same thing on Anzac Day. I must be sick.

I only came in this morning because I have one or two things to complete and to rouse up the hired help - I am determined that they should be finished and complete before the end of the week. We start all out training next week and I do not want to have stacks of rewrites left to do or documentation left undone. I am being sent to Karratha for 2 days next week and I also don't want them sitting around doing nothing for that time. I'll have to find something for them to do or loan them to another area. Decisions, decisions.

Holly - glad you are back on top of the dreaded lurgy, and busy again. Hope the wee girl gets over it soons

Happy, buzz away at those chores. At least it is different chores from work chores.

I'd better go and get on with it.

happy2bme 11-12-2007 08:20 AM

Good morning ladies,

Shad - are you feeling a bit under the weather? Sounds like not only do you have your own work to do but are the defacto team lead/chick mover and shaker. Is this by choice or is it the old - from any group a leader will automatically emerge? I say you go and lend the chicks to other areas - this way they will be so happy to have you back again

Must be a foggy Monday morning. Not much to say. Lots to do though. We have another shot of nice weather again. Good for being outside and picking up all those darn leaves. The trees are finally turning here. We have some gorgeous reds and redish golds. The Bradford pear trees that line the main street here are red at the top, yellow in the middle and dark green down at the bottom. Just breathtaking. We don't have color all over due to the trees stressed over the drought but the ones that are in color are beautiful. You just have to stop and admire them as you come upon them.

Best get on with the day. Love to the chicks.

Special healing hug to Mel

Happy Monday which may edge towards Moanday if Kevin doesn't show soon to work on my barn. :( He was to do it in August and all the barn junk (and junque) is on the car side of the building. It's getting close to time to stable my poor Focus for the night as i detest scraping frost and ice off the windshield. K. has to jack up the east side of the barn to replace the rotting sill and has been ignoring my reminder calls - he has call display. However, I got him last week by calling on the cell and he's supposed to be here today. Grrr!

My painting class is this afternoon. I'm going to give myself a break by working on a small painting. I do get tired of lugging a large easel and canvas down the steps to the Church Hall basement. I didn't get in to visit Harry yesterday afternoon as planned so will try to do that after class. I had a two hour nap yesterday after the Pypers left and sort of creamed the afternoon.

The darned ticker is wrong again this morning after a rather indulgent weekend. The food was good but there seems to be quite a collection of empty wine bottles on the back deck! I reviewed some old diaries this morning and realized I've been over 200 since about 1990! My setpoint is carved in granite, I guess. Eliminating the wine with dinner should help but it really has become a habit, I'm afraid. I'll work on it.

I'm going out to hack down some fake bamboo with my hatchet and pretend it's Kevin's :censored:.

Ruthxxx 11-12-2007 03:14 PM

Crap! I canceled out on my painting class because the breeder was going to bring Serena for a little visit. She just called to say she is running late and has to get home to feed puppies so can't come. She'll be here Wednesday evening.

I wish people would show more respect for other people's time!

Kevin hasn't shown either. Maybe I'll just head for bed and start today over!

carla49 11-12-2007 05:30 PM

Hi all. It was a busy weekend, with a little too much of the 'wrong' foods  no wine  and a 2.5 hour hike in the woods . Judging by the scales this morning, either a draw or a slight upward trend - there was a lot of :censored: at the dinner party, and all caution was thrown to the winds after the first bite of absolutely scrumptious bread. Today I finally decided to try the latest fix from Panda, and after two attempts to reload the software, lo and behold, so far I have printer access!!
Tonight is spin class again - I'm trying very hard to make it at least a twice a week habit. I've even found a spin studio in Toronto that accepts drop-ins, so I'll be able to get at least one spin a week while there. It'll be a busy trip - besides work, two probably rather Ruth-like (ie well-watered) dinners out, and, with luck, either drinks or dinner with Madcat. And, of course, the mega craft show and possibly another quiet birthday dinner with coleagues. Whew! For a low-energy person like me, that's quite a busy schedule, and I'm exhausted in anticipation... :faint: Too bad I can't just do the fun stuff and call in sick.

Mel, so sorry the danged eye is on the blink (pun intended) again. It just seems no sooner do you get one thing under control than something else goes haywire. Sure wish there was something concrete we could do to help! Feel the :grouphug: and the :goodvibes:

Shad, where is this place they're sending you, and are you sure the folks you've been cracking the whip at haven't arranged for it to be a one-way trip? We'll be awaiting your return with bated breath! Good luck with moving things closer to a merciful release.
I did send you a wave and a halloo while in the woods Sat - it wasn't the trail we did together, it was the one we'll do when you come back.

Happy, are you ajusting to the time change yet? If not, my offer of feline alarm clocks is still good. ;) (Actually, I'd be miserable with out them, but I still dream of life without furry responsibilities and no cat hair on my clothes and furniture and bed and floor and...)

Ruth, I firmly believe that calling a kid 'Kevin' dooms him to being both charming and a disappointment. This is not a scientific theory, just personal observation and the theory of a couple of elementary school teachers.
Do you take all your - er, glass recyclables back for the refund? Here in Ottawa enterprising street people cycle around to condos and apt buildings to dive for recyclables in the bins, and make a pretty good living at it. (But not at my building, at least not since one of them told our super's 13-year old daughter to f off. Now our bin's indoors...
Is Serena a puppy you're interviewing to come live with you and Hershey? Details, pleas!

Yikes, gotta go pee and head off to spin city. More later.

Shad 11-12-2007 05:36 PM

Oh dear,
Sounds like tradesmen the world over. Promise you the earth, and before you get it they take it away.

This State of Western Australia is called the wait-awhile state. Apparently that is what WA stands for. So I was not expecting to see anyone on time for that either, but to my surprise, the mobile went, the cabinet maker is at the front door, let me in. Then the Plumber and the Electrician turn up 10 minutes late. I was so surprised, I would have let anyone in that turned up that day. Pity the shopkeepers don't take a leaf out of their book, or the real estate people for that matter.
I do feel for you Ruth.

My cold continues and I didn't get home yesterday since one of the others called in sick and I couldn't leave everything to the Rooster. Yesterday I managed to turn him into a Fijian cyclone (hurricane). Full blown panic. Not an easy achievement since the Islanders are not known for being in a rush. And he wasn't feeling too good either - he'd played golf the day before and got a touch of the sun.

Happy - I am the training team lead for Plant Maintenance on this project which means I get my butt kicked and I get to kick their butts. They have given me a doosey lot - a laid back Fijian, a Malaysian that can't work without all the ducks being in a row, and a South African whose attention to detail means that she worries about EVERYTHING!!

Now I better go and worry about a few things. Seems that things are going wrong again around here.

Shad 11-12-2007 05:39 PM

Morning Carla.

ceejay52 11-12-2007 09:11 PM

Shad
((hugs)) Sounds like you need several.

Happy
The fall folliage is here also. It's pretty but not spectacular.

Mel
(((hugs))) hope you get better soon. We miss you. Don't over do.

Carla
wow an 2.5 mile walk in the woods. If it's not raining Thanksgiving day that is what I want to do. I wanted to this week end.

Ruth
I know I have been a "dieter" from way back. I've lost the same 10 pounds more than I want to count. I could have already been at my goal weight.

Reenie
How do you stay so positive about your challenges? I'm going to start my 21 days over once again.

More later. Still nothing new on my end. You could say I live to quite of a life.

mooz49 11-13-2007 04:16 AM

Hi Chicks ..... anyone remember me? ..... I have not been on 3FC for ages now and I see my friend Patty has moved in with Shad and her Mad House!
I am still trying to lose weight and hope to get rid of a few pounds before Christmas ;) ..... all those Christmas parties coming up don't help though.
I have another obstacle to overcome tomorrow though. I had been having breast pain for a few weeks and went to my doctor who found some lumps in my breast. Tomorrow I go to get it checked out so I am kinda scared. I had a routine mammogram about 1 year ago and it was OK so I am hoping for the same tomorrow. Any good thoughts or prayers would be gratefully received.
Have a good day all.

Anne

happy2bme 11-13-2007 08:04 AM

Hi Mooz,

Nice to hear from you. Just the other day I was watching a TV program which was set in Ireland and I thought about you and here you are now. Sorry to hear of the breast issues  and  prayers with you that all turns out well. Keep us posted!

Rennie - it's good that you recognize the inherited health problems and get a grip on them before they slap you up side the head. Keep up the good work!

Ceejay - I think the fact that we keep gaining and losing the same 10 pounds over and over is what makes the diet industry a multi billion dollar sure thing. Get out there and get that walk in while it's still nice today and tomorrow and before the rain hits again. :)

Shad, if I recall this is the second cold you've had in the last few months. WA must not be agreeing with you :( I hear you on the wait-again state. I think we are living in your "sister" city. Service is terrible here. Everyone agrees. Nothing changes. Sending you some healing vapors...

Carla - you made me laugh. I'm counting the days until I can "do all the fun stuff and make each day mine". You do sound like you're quite on the run there. Good for you for squeezing in a 2.5 mile hike! Thanks for the cat offer but we have one of our own, 2 cats that adopted us and a few neighborhood roamers. Our kitty must have seen Madcat's video of how to wake someone up because she's been slapping DH around when she wants to get up (sometimes at 4am) Better him than me  My house was actually cat hair free for about 3 years when we were between cats. It was .... nice. This cat has shorter hair and doesn't shed like her predecessor did. So you can keep your babies - you would miss them I'm sure even if you lent them out for a good week or two ;)

Ruth - Kevin called and said :yikes: :censored: Said you really know how to wield a :rollpin: and he will be there today.

Mel - healing vapors I sent to Shad are diverted the long way and are running past you. Hope they don't thin out too much by the time they get to Shad. Hope your peepers are feeling better. I am mentally connecting with you - feel the love?

 busy Holly

Speaking of busy, time for me to get on the run. Have a good one chicks...

Ruthxxx 11-13-2007 08:29 AM

Mooz!!!!! Great to "see" you again. Best wishes and positive thoughts for the mammo stuff. I've had the same problems and all was well but know it's hard not to worry.

I've recovered from my "Moan"day and am not going to let other people crap up my Tuesday. The purolator dude is bringing my paper shredder today so I'll work out some frustrations on that!

Carla, bottle recycling? But of course! I took the weekend crop back yesterday and got back a toonie. Of course, I told them that I'd picked them up at the side of the road. My refund money goes right into the Food Bank donation can which assuages my guilt a bit.

No time for indies today but I hope dear MEL is on the mend. Shad, are you taking care of yourself? You sound run down.

Gotta dash and crank up my day.
