Hello ladies and hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Only a few short days left before Christmas. I plan to go out and brave the evening crowds at the mall, I still have a gift or two to go.
Karen, I love the pictures of the gals and their sweaters, but especially the one of your extended family. How great that you got to see the grandsons again, I can't imagine you not being able to see them (or your son not being able to see them either!) for that long. This makes Christmas much more special no? I have to let you know that my contact lens fell out after listening to that youtube link. That kid sure is smart. Cherie, enjoy your skiing, I know you are. We just got a postcard from my cousin and his family who are living in CO, my cousin is around 42(?) and just found out that his stepdaughter will be having her first child next February--so he will be a grandpa! His youngest girl is in the 6th grade so I have to kid him about that. I hope everyone else is doing great and not getting too stressed out, Christmas is all about family and being together and just enjoying each other. I hope you all have a good one. |
Noelle,
Wasn't that phone call awesome!! Sorry your contact fell out though. That was an actual call to a radio station in Texas. I got this in an email and thought it would be nice to share something a little more light and funny! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! EVER-FESTIVE EATING TIPS 1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls. 2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly, it's rare. You can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas! 3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat. 4. As for mashed potatoes... always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission. 5. Do NOT have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello? 6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog. 7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again. 8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Pecan. Have a slice of each. Or, if you don't like Pecan, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day? 9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but AVOID it at all cost. I mean, have SOME standards. 10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. |
Merry Christmas Eve! :hohoho: I am up bright and early with a few minutes to spare before the madness begins. I have a lot of laundry to do...well, I need to do it if I want to have anything to wear while in LV . Then we are making chocolate and orange gingerbread cookies for Santa. My eating has been pretty bad this week, but hey! It's the holidays right? I am also cleaning out my closets to make way for all the new clothes i hope to be buying on vacation ;) so I better not indulge in too many cookies.
Karen, that list is HILARIOUS! And true  I second the rule about fruitcake and having standards  So is everyone ready for the big day tomorrow? I have a few gifts that I still need to wrap and one for Michael that I need to sneak into the house without him seeing, since he still believes in Santa Claus, it's so cute. I think in the back of his mind he is really questioning the validity of the man in the red suit, but I try to do things that make him believe, it's fun. Anyway, I know everyone will be really busy over the next few days so if I don't get back online, know that I wish all of you lovely ladies a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR! :grouphug: |
Noelle--- MERRY CHRISTMAS and have a Wonderful time in Las Vegas! If we don't chat before I'll be anxious to hear from you when you get back!

Hello Ladies! I hope everyone had a good Christmas and Santa was good to you!
I don't know if I told you that I've been watching craigslist for an elliptical--- Well, I found a Gazelle on there the first of December that the lady said was just like new and she wanted $100 for it. I sent her an email I think it was last week and asked if she still had it. She said she did but they were leaving and wouldn't be back until the 28th. So I figured that I would keep watching and if nothing came along better than I would call her this Friday and offer her $50 for it. I got all my "horse trading mentality" from my Daddy! Anyway, I got on craigslist this morning and they had a Proform elliptical for $25 ! I sent an email and asked if they still had it and where would I see it. They replied and then said they had to go to a birthday party this afternoon and wouldn't be home until about 3:00. He said that there was something wrong with adjusting the resistance and the console didn't light up but thought it would just need new batteries. So I told them that I would just buy it and we would be at their house at 3:00. We got down there and looked at it and tried it out. I asked if he would take $20 for it and he agreed! So I now have it here at home. I was pretty excited about it. We tried new batteries and that didn't help the console display but Tim hasn't got into it anymore tonight. And right now I sure don't need to change the resistance because I was on it for about 5 minutes and was just about worn out! He told us he thought that the resistance level right now was set at the lowest. It is a Proform 485E which is an older model but the price was definitely right!! I went ahead and got the internet and downloaded an owners manual for it so maybe we can get it figured out and fix those two things that are wrong with it. If not-- it was still worth the $20! I guess you can tell that I'm pretty happy about it! Here are a couple pictures of Ginger & Sissy in their new dresses! I just couldn't resist! Well, it is getting late but wanted to pop in and say Hello. I will try to get caught up with everyone tomorrow! Have a good day! |
