Hello, yeah there was a crash and lost like the last 2 weeks or so of information. Anyways going away if weather permits on the bikes this weekend so ready to get away.....
Vermontmom how is your summer job going? So your pull behind trailer is it a camper, car trailer or cargo trailer that you bought?

VermontMom 06-14-2008 10:05 PM

Hi reda, sorry it took me so long to reply! and I see we're now under Support Groups, not Misc.

It is a Piggyback trailer, a little cargo trailer that gets pulled by a motorcycle. Husband's motorcycle to be specific :D I'll see if I can get a pic here of it.

How was your weekend on the bikes? Great I hope!

This Thursday the 19th, our younger son graduates High School. Then the following morning we leave for the Harley Rendezvous in Pattersonville NY. woohoo!

Hope everyone is doing good.

VermontMom 06-15-2008 03:08 PM

Hello again! Hey, I've got access to a new DVD to exercise to, my son bought it (he is trying to get into shape). It's The Biggest Loser Workout, Cardio Max. That guy Bob is a hoot!

I admit I know nothing about TBL...except that it's a reality show about losing weight/getting in shape with teams.

I was sore for two days after doing this! The beginner's version! Then I added 10 minutes to it for a longer workout. I am psyched to try it again!

I got some flowers planted yesterday. I hung a jute fishing net up on an outside wall by the deck, then put an outdoor table just under it. Then I put a windowbox with sweet peas, morning glories and nastursiums right under the net, and twined the little shoots up into the net. I hope they will continue to climb and twist up into the net.

We are having some problems iwth th wiring of the little trailer. eek. It has to be inspected before we leave...it has to work before we leave!!

have a good one!

chick_in_the_hat 06-15-2008 04:20 PM

Hey chickies!!

Road the scoot yesterday...just a short ride to the shop. Elbow was not really too happy about it, but 3 months ago I couldn't even engage the clutch 'cause it hurt so bad...so I'm gonna call it progress. It's in the shop for a new clutch cable (among other things)...hopefully that will make it that much easier.

Holly - dahlink! I haven't tried the Bob workouts...but if it's like what he does to people on the show...yeouch! The workouts don't look that hard until you see people trying to do them on the show. There is some serious sweating going on. :D Plus Bob is such an eye taco to watch. :T :s:

Reda - hope you are getting some riding in!

I'd better go - we are heading over to the 'rents for Father's Day...BBQ Salmon :T

VermontMom 06-16-2008 06:49 PM

Gina - I'm so glad you were able to at least operate the clutch! Here's hoping your recovery keeps going!

Husband was able to complete the wiring of the trailer; this morning he took it to be inspected; and I went to get it insured, and I found out that liability insurance is included with our motorcycle policy, but opted for collision and comprehensive also. The Li'l Cupcake Hauler is now legit :carrot:

It looks so cute bookin down the road! The LED's are VERY bright. That's good.

Now I have to focus on; preparing enough desserts at work to last them through the weekend while we're away, and; younger son graduates high school Thursday night. He just wants to hang with his friends on that night (no lame going out to dinner with 'rents :D) and then Joe and I are gone Friday morning, so we'll have to celebrate next week.

It's already halfway through June!! slow down, summer!!!!!!

chick_in_the_hat 06-17-2008 09:53 AM

Page 2? WTF? Alright, I know I'm been slacking with the posts, too...but page 2? Not a big fan of this new spot....:p

Don't make me call ollie olllie oxen free :s:

Holly - I wanna see pics of the trailer...:woot: to younger son for surviving High School!! Give him another 20 years, hanging with the 'rents won't seem so lame. :D

Summer officially starts Friday...I think I mighta blinked and missed spring.

chick_in_the_hat 06-20-2008 06:14 PM

Geez Louise it's hard to find this thread...

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!

My plan this weekend is to stay cool...s'posed to get to 103 degrees today. :flame:

chick_in_the_hat 06-28-2008 05:52 PM

I'm pleased to report that I FINALLY got back on the scoot today. It got a new clutch cable, new throttle, tune up, new rear hub...feels like a new bike. And the elbow is not complaining. :woohoo:

I Hate Freaking Cagers

After 23 years of never dropping my bike....I got cut off by a suburban yesterday morning. I'm fine give or take some road rash. Hugo the scooter didn't fare so well. He's still running like a top, and he still looks pretty from the engine side. The left side however.... The dude at least pulled over to see if I was ok...no insurance, no license, lives in a motel...SIGH.

All in all it coulda been much worse. I could have hit the freakin 'burban. Hugo the scooter took a way bigger hit than me.

I might wanna rethink the capris and tennies that fall off as riding gear plan. The leather jacket did a fine job. It's got some road rash, too. Time for new gloves, too.

VermontMom 07-06-2008 04:58 PM

OMG Gina!!!!

death to stupid cagers!!!

I'm so glad it wasn't worse, but it's bad enough, isnt it. Poor Hugo! and poor you, you got dinged :(

But ya know what?! You now qualify as a member of COBB - Crippled Old B*stard Bikers :D Yes, it's actually a website, you can sign up, tell your story and get a pin, patch, t-shirt. Okay, maybe you don't qualify because you're not crippled, old nor a b*stard, but yer a biker who's gone down because of a cager and that's enough.

Sorry it's been so long since I"ve been here! Harley Rendezvous was a blast. Coming back home, we had 30 miles of dry road and 170 miles of soaking wet :dizzy:

Just for fun....as soon as we got home, I sloshed upstairs and weighed myself with all my gear on. Jacket, chaps, boots, helmet, gloves, all sopping wet. TWENTY EIGHT POUNDS of wet gear! lol!!!

I've just hit 30,000 miles on my '06, zipping right along.

I have slacked on exercising :o but am trying my darndest to get back into the early morning exercise routine.

take care!

VermontMom 07-06-2008 05:01 PM

Gina --- was the vehicle registered??? I see you said no license, no insurance...is there a traceable license plate?? I just showed this to my husband, and he said, 'then the jerk should go to jail!' Did/could the police do anything about this?? at least to get the &^%$#!(&% off the road!

chick_in_the_hat 07-07-2008 11:57 PM

Holly - you crack me up weighing in with yer rain soaked gear on.

I got his plate and SSN....we'll see what the insurance humans do with it. I only have liability....and uninsured motorist...so we'll see. Thank goodness the bike is steel and not plastic. Pretty much the only pieces I have to replace are the mirror and the turn signal.

I filled out a police report...but I doubt if much will come of it.

On a happier note - my elbow is pretty much better, it's about time...7 months later. :woohoo:

VermontMom 07-28-2008 08:28 PM

Hey chicks!! Are we all out on our bikes, having too much fun to be on the computer :D

well I'm guilty of not checking in, but am enjoying being smaller than I was months ago :carrot: I'm continuing a modified South Beach way of living, which is hardly any simple carbs ever. And haven't quite been able to maintain the high level of exercising I was doing in winter, but am doing about 4 X's a week, sometimes 5.

I completely got a shock when I got on the scale about 3 days ago; my lowest weight so far had been 152, and I was afraid that I had crept up? because I hadn't been on a scale for about a month. IMagine my delight when it showed 149 :carrot:

Hope everyone's OK, Gina, still get mad about your dust-up with the idiot cager! and how is your arm (pre-accident injury)

VermontMom 07-31-2008 09:11 AM

good morning chicks! How's your weather been this summer? we didn't have a record-breaking amount of rain for July, but alot higher than usual. I've been caught in the rain so many times now, but it's always a warm rain so not that bad.

What kind of gardens do you have, if you plant? I don't :D I bought two big tomato plants in patio pots in June, and they produced lots of green tomatoes right away, and my husband and I were wondering if they were ever going to get some color! and finally two of them are approaching real redness. Yum!

I planted a long window box of morning glories and sweet peas and tacked a jute fishing net on the side of the house for them to climb on. The morning glory vines have done very well, tons of those pretty heart shaped leaves but like only two flowers so far! :( The sweet peas have produced about 5 very pretty fragrant flowers.

also planted two pots of nastursiums, I pick them every day and carefully transport them by motorcycle to work, and use them as garnish on dessert plates, they look so very nice.

At work it is very cool also, that I can walk to the little babbling brook just about 100 feet from the kitchen and pick fresh brook mint, which I then wash well, dry and place on dessert plates, and dust with confectioners' sugar. I love my summer job :) but it is about to get killer busy for August; for each meal (breakfast/lunch/dinner) we already are booked and the numbers each day all month are like 50 or 60 for breakfast (we've been doing like 20) 40 or 50 for lunch (we've been doing like 12!) and 70 or so for dinners.

It's just a real test for professionalism, I think, to be able to step up your production and deal with the increase of flurry/activity from having more waitstaff buzzing around without losing your cool, and keeping a good working personality. At least that is what I strive for. And not to eat the goodies

well I sure hope everyone is doing great  and that we're getting LOTS of riding!

chick_in_the_hat 08-02-2008 02:19 PM

OMG - Holly!! Look at that freaking ticker!! :woohoo: I haven't done much gardening lately, DH is in charge of that. I'm in charge of the mowing. :p He is the king of growing stuff from little twigs and such. :carrot:

I've been good - the elbow is at maybe 95% healed...I'm back to riding the scoot and the bike full steam. :cb: I doubt if I will ever see any money to fix the scoot, I think I'll wait until winter before I start lobbying to get it repainted.
