Good morning, ladies!

It's hurricane season. If we get through September, we'll probably be okay for this year. September 11 seems to be the worst day for hurricanes in past history for this area. With 2 category 5 already it's scary. I don't know what we could do - I can't evacuate Stan because he has to have dialysis and we can't go unless we can be assured of treatment. If it's a bad storm, we will be flooded. We can't go to a shelter because they won't take people with special needs. Guess we'll ride it out at home and hope for the best.

I lived at home until I got married so I've never been on my own. Don't relish the prospect either.

Stan's appointment at the doctor was great. His arm is nicely healed so they are going to schedule the removal of his catheter and we don't have to go back there unless he has problems down the road...we've been going to him since March 2006 for what started as a circulation problem needing shunts and ended in amputation and a graft for dialysis.

Hope school is going well for you, Jean. Since my work schedule and the school bus schedule have both changed, I didn't even see a bus yesterday. I hate getting stuck behind them.

Good Evening, Flowers! It was another early dismissal at school today although it wasn't too bad outside. The building was still hot and miserable; their big mistake was announcing it at 7:15 this morning on the radio. The kids were more restless than usual because they knew we were getting out early. :( Not much learning going on that's for sure.

Susan -- I certainly hope the hurricanes miss you! How close do you live to the water? Stan's care would be a huge concern for both of you. Glad to hear that Stan is doing so well.

I need to do a couple laundry loads yet tonight so best get moving. Have a terrific Thursday tomorrow!

Good morning gals! We are back from Vegas and what a trip! We had a wonderful time, no flight delays, luggage booboos or trauma except we got home and the idiot mailman let some of our mail be delivered. We're lucky someone didn't try and break in as I have no idea how long it sat out there. I am not sure it will even help to rake them over the coals, but I am going to go at the delivery supervisor about his substitutes reading the hold mail situations because I think that is why we got mail. I am also lodging a complaint with the postmaster.

I am working with my pics and such and will send you all a link where you can look at them and see a trip report of sorts, but right now I am buried underneath dirty clothes, and "put aways" plus dealing with a cat that is clingy because his "brother" is still at the kennel until tomorrow. It is one of those overwhelmed situations that take time to calm down.

I am posting a new pic of Jackson. I know I am prejudiced, but he sure is a cute little bugger. Jay sent the pics to me day before yesterday. He is one very big baby. He won't be three months old until next Monday!

Well, I have tons to do and no one but myself to get it done. Jack had to return to work this morning so he can't even help.

Everyone have a good day. It was good to read everyone's posts. Happy belated anniversary, Jean!

Good morning, ladies!

Faye, so glad to have you back. That is one beautiful, big baby! Around here, the mail is sorted at the post office by one group and boxed for delivery so the actual mailman doesn't know you don't want it delivered, the sorters do.

Jean, seems like they need to schedule half days for the first month of school and start in August like they do in NC...or keep the buildings cooler some way.
We live about 50 feet from the water - a feeder of the Back River - and 7 miles from the Chesapeake Bay. We're 40 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. We live on a Peninsula with the York River on one side and the James River on the other and they both empty into the Chesapeake. We only have 3 highways that go from one end of the Peninsula to the other, hence the problem with evacuation. Traffic can't move during rush hour and they talk about evacuating us, right!

Gloria - hope to hear from you again soon!

Good Evening, Flowers! I tried to start a new thread and it wouldn't let me into the site. It was another humid day, and although the temperature was 82 we did get out early. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler so I imagine it will be a full day.

"Gma" -- Welcome home! We missed you! :cheer: I'm glad you had a wonderful time, but sorry about the mail SNAFU. That is aggravating for sure. Thank you for anniversary wishes -- I don't know where 40 years went, but they sure flew. Jackson is a cutie and looks like he is a happy little guy.

Susan -- Have you ever had to evacuate from your home? That would be so scary!

Bob's mom is leaving Sat. morning; she's riding back to MT with Bob's brother and will fly to AZ from there. We are going up after school tomorrow to tell her good-bye. Summer really is over for another year.

Have a fantastic Friday!
