  • Hello
We're going swimming at Debbie's today. I need to do a few things before we leave. Sorry so short.
Gayle..Thanks for letting us know about Dee!!
Down another 1lb!!!!! I have finally hit my 30 lb. markl!!!!
    Have a great day all....
  • Yay, Sherry on the lb lost. Please tell Debbie hi for me!
  • Way to go on the loss, Sherry! Feels good, doesn't it?

I'm not doing really well on my loss. I have exactly 10 pounds to go to goal (don't look at the ticker--it's wrong right now!). I spent yesterday planning out my meals for the week and I don't foresee anything that will disrupt it (well, except for the freezer full of cheesecakes I bought from a fund raiser).

    Take care everyone!
  • It's great to have an active discussion going again!

    Janice, Congratulations on your loss!

Cheryl, I'll remind you of your excitement later, count
on it. But some people have such easy joyful pregnancies that
they only need encouragement during delivery.

Allison, Good luck with your plan. It sounds like you have
lots of healthy ideas to draw on.

Sherry, Congratulations! 30 lbs is really impressive.
    You must feel so proud!

This morning my scale said 147.6 and my tape measure said that my
hips are now less than 40 inches. YAY! Halfway to goal.

To explain more about what was going on before ---
My previous plan was to eat a low-carb low-fat high-fiber meal
every 3 hours. Skim milk and vegetables. Chicken breast and vegetables.
You get the idea. I call it the "low-everything" diet, because it's
pretty restrictive, but I was reliably losing 2 lbs per week!!
When I had so much as 100 calories of a carbohydrate, I
got really hungry for a few days, no matter how much low-carb
I ate. Eating another 100 calories of carbs would calm the hunger
, but then after 45 or 60 minutes, I'm back at square one again.
The only solution I found (so far) is to eat a high-FAT diet for
a couple of days during the "withdrawal." Then when I'm free
of the carb influence, I can cut out the fat and resume my
    "low-everything" diet.

Anyway, I'm really really happy to be at a thinner and healthier size.
I'm only halfway to my goal, so I need to keep losing somehow,
but I can't continue the "low-everthing" diet because it leaves my
brain too fuzzy and my memory seems to be really bad. For a few months
I've been blaming it on sleep deprivation or laziness or age, but
I think if I want to catch up at work, I'll need to change my diet.
One of the reasons I put on weight was because eating sugar while
on the job made my work a lot easier, so that's an ongoing issue
    for me.

I'm going to try adding more non-carb calories, and if that doesn't
improve my brain, I'll have to overhaul my plan totally and eat
carbs again. For now, I'll add some cheese and meat. I should
be able to continue losing at a slower rate -- with exercise maybe
1 lb per week. I really hope I can get more done at work now.

    Determined,
    Lisa
  • Lisa-That's great! You are doing fantastic! What about lower fat or is that what you were doing? I tend to eat fat free all the time, except now I have been eating almonds (too many!)

Allison-You have done great. Your last 10 lbs will come off soon enough.
  • Lisa, maybe look into the ******* plan? If you message me, I'll send you a link or two. The June 12th Womans World had an article about it. It is a lower calorie/fat alternative to Atkins. If you go to her site, it is just amazing reading the weight losses.

I'm home sick today. I started with a dry cough yesterday in church and by last night my chest was constricted and congested. I'm coughing up gross stuff (just what you wanted to read) I was afraid I could pass something on to one of my clients. HOPEFULLY, I can go in tomorrow and get caught up.
  • GAYLE!!!!!! Take care of yourself! Hope you feel better soon.

I'll post later...Trying to get ready to go to the doctor. B/P check up.
  • Hey everyone! Just checkin in!

Lisa, I told you if you stuck around we'd pick back up!

Gayle, thank you thank you thank you for calling Dee for us! I'm sorry you're sick--hope you get to feeling better very quickly!

Shelley--Keep that nose moist so it'll heal better. Wouldn't it be a stroke of luck if you could get plastic surgery out of this deal?

Sherry--have fun out by the pool
  • Gayle - I am happy you were able to get a hold of Dee. I was very worried about her. It's not like her to disappear like that.
Hope you get feeling better fast.
Shelley - how is the nose feeling?
I am staying on program (Low Carb)
Hello to all the other Floozies out there.
Cherly- I think its wonderful that you are trying to get pregnant. Wish my daughter would get around to it soon.
  • Gayle, Get well soon! I sent you a message on the forum's
PM system with my email address.

I'm feeling really great, much better than before! I was
re-reading the South Beach Diet book and I had forgotten some
of the advice about breaking a "carbohydrate addiction".
    (reactive hypoglycemia)
I definitely have a carbohydrate addiction. If I eat carbs,
I desperately need more of them after 45 or 60 minutes, and
then I need them desperately again after that, and in the end I
have tons of calories and I still feel deprived and hungry
    all the time. It's horrible.
On my "low-everything diet", I still felt like I was going
through some version of that process, which I didn't understand,
because it was low-carb. Well, the problem was that I was
guzzling large amounts of skim milk! Even though skim milk
is a relatively good carb, having a pint at breakfast is
enough to trigger swings in my blood sugar, and then the
whole imbalance gets started fresh each day.
I'm removing ALL carbs from my diet for a week or hopefully for
two, including milk and carrots and tomatoes. The advice from
South Beach (which I'm going to try) is to cut all carbs
ruthlessly for just 2 weeks to give your body a chance
to re-set itself. Afterwards they recommend having good carbs
(like milk and whole grain and fruit) in moderation, except
    not so much for breakfast.
Well, all I can tell you is that I feel a LOT better today
than I have any day for the last week. WOW! I can't
believe the milk was triggering blood sugar swings, but
after feeling what it's like to have a chicken breast
and veggies for breakfast, I'm convinced. I'm not saying
it was pleasant to sit down to chicken and veggies for a
breakfast, but I feel so good now that I'll gladly try it
tomorrow. I don't suppose I'll keep feeling so good forever,
so this plan might not last 14 days, but I'll take what I
can get and I'll switch when I need to.

    Determined and happier,
    Lisa
  • Gayle-Feel better!

I am officially FAT!! I weighed in at 134 this morning. Ugh! I hate myself. Everything would be fine if I wouldn't eat continuously from 4:00 on......
  • Shelley, you are far from officially fat! Remember all of your muscle silly one???? HUGS!

Lisa, sent you info, I think ******* might just be what you need right now.

Still feeling yucky today, but not running a fever so I will go on in to work. Of all times, we have a guest coming from out of town for a few days. Hope he doesn't mind if I go on to bed and leave the rest of the family to entertain. :-)
  • Gayle ~ Thanks for the update on Dee! I'm glad to hear that she is fine...I'm not sure I would be fine without my computer though! Hopefully they will get it fixed soon!

I'm glad you are starting to feel better...try not to over do it today!

I haven't heard of the ******* diet, but it sounds like something I might benefit from too. Would you mind sending me the links as well? I lost the 2 pounds, but now I'm at a stand still again.

Sherry ~ You are doing awesome! Keep doing what you're doing...it's working! How was your BP?

Ali ~ Stay away from the cheesecakes! It was about the 10 pound to go mark where I started having diet problems. I got too confident and let bad habits slowly creep back in and before I knew it I had gained 10 pounds instead of losing 10 pounds.

I'm cutting grass today, so lots of exercise and water drinking going on for me! Have a good day everyone!
  • I just did a search here at 3FC on the ******* diet and I don't think I could ever survive on such a restrictive diet!

    Quote:
    Suzanne 3FC says...
******* is based on the old Atkins induction, before they started allowing low carb candies and other processed foods.

20 grams carbs (total carbs, not net carbs)
2 cups salad and 1/2 cup cooked veggies, or 3 cups salad
70 to 90 grams protein (though some say she now suggests 60 grams)
Just enough fat to make it taste good
    No desserts

I also found comments by a few people that said they were only consuming 500 to 600 calories per day on this
