I am so totally fed up with seeing/hearing/reading about the federal election. I haven't turned my TV on for a month, avoiding ads and rhetoric - I resent my taxes being spent on having two dishonest men try to convince me to give them a job. Pfft!!!

Having a good week with eating… so far anyway! I'm really determined to try and drop a pound, and since we're having a cold snap here (it's only going to be 30ºC), I'm going out to whipper snip the lawn and pull a few weeds.

Have a good day everyone!

:)

Me too Ani - I just sent my postal vote, so at least I won't have to brave election day.

Eating has been pretty good this week - made an awesome stirfry with rice noodles that came out like pad thai last night. Just had it again for lunch - yum! Eating porridge for brekky is helping - I'm really not hungry again til lunchtime. Going to bed earlier helps me though - it's sitting around at night watching TV and getting bored and "mentally hungry" that does me in.

 <--- this is me waving to you from the top of Uluru!!!

Ok, so it has taken me three days to do it. But lets put this into perspective...

I am only doing 25 mins a day - 625 steps (125m) a day! And when I think about it, getting up onto the step and then stepping back down again is counted as one step. So I guess in 75mins, I have climbed up Uluru and climbed back down again...backwards!

Whatever! I am happy I have made it somewhere and I am still very motivated to conquer Everest!!!

I have eaten well again today, under 1500cals. And I drank just over a litre of water (I need to work on that don't I?).

It is good to see most of us sounding a little more positive!

Ani, maybe you should have left whipper snippering until bright and early Saturday/Sunday, taking special care to do outside the housemates bedroom window to perfection?! :p

I'll be back tomorrow!! ;)

7senuf 11-14-2007 07:21 AM

Oh lindor you're evil :p outside housemates window indeed. go on Ani... do it :D Well done Lindor on your Uluru climb.

My thoughts on election............... They are all like schoolyard bullies. Plain and simple the pre election campaigns do nothing for my confidence in anyone as they all seem to enjoy backstabbing each other and not really telling us what they are going to DO for US. Oh well, we can only vote for the best of a bad bunch I suppose. VOTE 1 VONNI :p

LittleKiwi 11-14-2007 03:45 PM

Congrats on scaling Uluru Lindor!

I really need a big kick in the backside. I've totally lost focus, my diet is going down the gurgler and I'm slipping back into old lazy patterns. I'm just so sick of having to watch what I eat and haven't helped myself by the fact that it's 9:40am and I've just eaten 8 jet plane lollies.

:(

My weight has been up and down for the last month, blow out and gain one week, behave and lose the next week. I've lost my motivation and I need to recommit. So, goals for the rest of this week:

1) Stick to a maximum of 23 points of food per day.
2) Exercise every day
3) Stay committed

Lindor the trouble with your theory is that the only thing outside my housemate's bedroom window is dirt! I'd have a hard time explaining how I felt the need to whipper snip sand :D

Vonni I'd vote for you if you gave me a reason, and being the best of a bad bunch makes you sound like those Canberra crazies. At least promise something realistic - such as adequate rainfall for all drought-stricken areas :p

Julia what's happening? We have all been through that (sometimes several times) - and it's easy to lose heart. But the thing is, we have to find a way through it. What's happening with your pedometre challenge?

Kel, trying to predict how much we'll lose is setting ourselves up to be disappointed. You could be retaining fluid (if you're eating salty food), or your metabolism might have slowed down from the shakes. I'd take a 400g loss any time!

All good for me this week. I don't have anything special to report - just plodding along and trying to keep everything in balance.

:)

I'm not even excited about the pedometer challenge at the moment Ani. Lots of people have passed me and I don't even care. Very different to how I was feeling about it a couple of weeks ago.

I went for a short walk at lunchtime which was good. It's Canterbury Anniversary Day tomorrow so no work for me and I'll definitely get myself into the gym for a long hard workout.

Then invest in a 1 metre square of turf and lay it there? Then you can treat it like your pride and joy and whipper snip it every morning!!!

You're evil.

I love it.

barbegirl71 11-15-2007 05:07 AM

I’m travelling pretty well this week, no major slip ups to report! :D

Taking a leaf out of Lindor’s book. I’m walking to Mackay. So far I’ve managed 111km which puts me around Burra somewhere (only 2274 k’s to go!) I hope I can make it all the way there! :dizzy:

Totally agree with you Ani and Vonni about the election. Who do you vote for when you can’t trust any of em! :?:

Snap with the whole” mentally hungry”’ thing Gen. I’m drinking plenty of peppermint tea to get me through the evenings. Some nights work better than others mind you! ;)

Kel, maybe you’re choosing the wrong types of food to snack on. I know when I’ve done the whole shake thing the weight falls off, not that I’d ever do that again! I did Herbalife. YUCK! I can’t imagine having to take a handful of pills and that horrible drink again. Uugh, I feel sick just thinking about it. :p

Julia. Maybe the bingle you were in gave you more than whiplash. You’ve been through something traumatic and it’s upset you, so you’re dealing with it the way most of us would. You’ll feel better soon and find your way again.

Ani, maybe a bit of vacuuming at some ungodly hour would do the trick! ;)

P.S.

I've just been looking at everyone's tickers and have realised I'm the only one still in the 90's. Better get my butt moving and catch up. Hehehe! :D

Don't worry Barb, I'm back there after weigh in on Saturday.

Lindor 11-15-2007 07:25 AM

Gen? Should we be concerned about that comment?

Barb!! I have a friend in Burra, be sure to say G'day while you are there! So how are you doing this walk? Treadmill or walking the streets/beach/park? Do you have a map pinned up somewhere and tracking your path as you go?

I find it very motivating to see the progress as you go. I have a list of the highest points in every country in front of me while I am climbing Everest. So far I have stood on the highest point of 47 different countries! I have just topped Crown Mountain - the highest point of the US Virgin Islands - and am on my way up Cerro Catedral in Uruguay!

And to think, I hated Geography at school!!!

Julia, don't be so hard on yourself! No doubt your head must have spent a fraction of a moment in that car thinking 'My God this is it, I am gone!!' Is it any wonder that you might think pedometres and gyms and food seem so much less important?

Barb is right, give yourself a little time. Yes, get back into it and the routine you had before and put the experience behind you, but take it slowly. Try to understand what you are thinking and feeling too, because how you emotionally handle this will have an effect on your eating/exercise habits. As it has been said before, a huge chunk of our weight gain/loss is in our head and how we mentally deal with events.

Kel!! If you don't want that 400g loss I'll happily take it!! I agree if you can't stop the snacks, make better choices for them.

Ani...you just keep plodding on mate! Onward and upward!! Or downward and offward with the kgs? ;)

Me...

...another 100m up Everest tonight! Eaten within my calories! And drank about 1L water again.

I did have to enter a shop for milk today. I stood in front of the shelf of Tim Tams and glared right at them (I am surprised they didn't all melt!). I then picked up a packet and made it promise me that if I brought it home it would not tempt me and make me eat the lot!

It remains unopened in the fridge as I write this. My calories today have left me enough that will comfortably allow me to have one, but strangely I don't feel like it???? And I am not going to eat it just because I can!

Thank heavens it is Friday tomorrow! Have a good one ladies! :)

PerthChick 11-15-2007 05:37 PM

Ah - the benefit of the new housemate: every second weekend she spends with her partner. So she went to work this morning, and I now have the place to myself until Sunday night :D

Lindor I am very impressed! I'm loving your enthusiasm for the scaling of Mt Everest.

And Barb, I'm really happy to see you back here more often, and definitely sounding like you have a plan.

Now Gen did you keep your date with the PT? I was expecting to hear about sore muscles by now ;)

Kylie are you around? If you're lurking, I just want to say I'm thinking of you - breaking up is a b!tch

Busy day for me today. I'm investigating a big story at the moment (sometimes that's really stimulating and at other times it's difficult), and I'm finally getting access to relevant financial documents today. Intriguing!!!

Anyway, must do a few domestics before I start work. Have a good day everyone.

:)
