and don't get me started on cinco de mayo
|
Happy-You should be partying instead of cleaning out the pool. Go down to Beal street and enjoy the music and food. Tthe answer is that when the stress is gone so will the food temptations. The hormone cortisol makes for belly fat. Exercise does wonders for stress.
Mel-- I woke up early also. It's been dark and dreary today. I've had the tendency to lay back down at different intervals. I'm on a mission to organize my bedroom. Since I've gotten back from the two vacations I've just been piling things here and there. I can barely move. Also been catching up on the laundry. |
shoot it!
Happy-that is a big burn you have going there... any chance of putting the old machine out in a field and letting a shotgun vent your frustrations? :carrot: :p Kenmore has good quality appliances and Sears does seem to stand by its products. Happy shopping! Soon you will be able to cool off in your lovely pool. Have you bought a froggy lounge floater yet?
Mel-what fiesta have you planned for this lovely 5th of May? will you be conjuring up a tasty protein drink with lime and ice in the blender? (use rice protein, totally vegan and chemically light)Sorry to hear you will be losing one of the good ones for the office. Have you made your "will not do" list to whip out when they try and get you to pick up the slack? Where did I put that article... popping off to find for you ;) Rats, can't find the exact article but here is one similar by Stephanie Marston http://www.stephaniemarston.com/arti...reatetime.html Shad-hope you are having fun kicking around Cairns:D Happy long weekend to you! Madcat-celebrate :goodvibes I hope hubby and you are blissed out totally:hug: Elvis kitty avatar is terrific, well made:) Ceejay-:high: well done on the exercising! Does the dentist go to your gym? That must have been fun, your teeth need work and by the way I haven't seen the rest of your body sweating lately:p I think Happy would like to have a punching bag to utilize about now too :^: Carla-wow! good job on the scale movement! I am trying to do more whole foods. Just found a recipe for toasted chick peas which I'm going to try. Better snacks, better health! I hope the weather is staying decent for you and you get that bike ride in:flow1: I managed to exercise five times this week. Eating is focused on limiting/no white stuff. Got to get those empty carbs out of my life :p I managed to be furious with both my kids teachers last week. My husband was no help, told me to phone the school if I was so upset. They never do anything, I just needed to vent. My youngest had the "jump rope for health" thing by the heart and stroke foundation but because we gave money to some kid who came to the door and didn't send money back in her envelope, she didn't get a balloon after her skipping like the other kids. Money grubbing stooges for charity who like making little kids cry. My other daughter had a spelling test where all the words she had been practising all week were switched and she was given a bunch different words. Not nice and I was incensed that they would set the kids up for failure like this. So I was railing on about teacher treachery, violating kids trust, etc.:tantrum: :wave:hello chicks of the world:chin: how was your week? |
HI!!! Just caught up with you all!!!
|
Quick hello. Off to a dinner gathering I'm not too interested in - an acquaintance in town for the funeral of her very ill and elderly father, and after the mass I happened to be standing too close when old friends made plans to host the third dinner in a row for her. (Somehow nobody thought of me for the last two dinners, but suddenly I'm indispensable because I was in earshot?) Oh well, it would have been churlish (and childish) to refuse, especially since I was happy to be home with my diet food for the other two events. So I'm off, armed with vast quantities of hummus and cut-up veggies - and a budding "headache" I expect to arrive about the time they haul out the Monopoly board... (Now if it were scrabble....)
Gotta go, I'll be late. |
HAPPY~ I AM SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE MOLDY WASHER I THINK WE HAVE MAYTAGS DOWNSTAIRS. GOTTA LOOK. WHATEVER THEY ARE THEY'RE BREAKING DOWN MORE OFTEN THEN THE KENMORES WE USED TO HAVE  I CANNOT BELIEVE THE GOVT. WOULD ALLOW MOLDY WASHERS TO CONTINUE!! WE LIVE IN A USE AND TOSS WORLD NOW. A LOT OF JUNK BEING SOLD OUT THERE AND HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT IS THE "REAL" GOODS? VERY SAD. GOOD LUCK! I WAS TALKING TO A WOMAN IN SEARS AND SHE WAS WHISPERING TO ME THAT WALMARTS AND SEARS ARE "TALKING" ABOUT A MERGER. ALL THE PERSONNEL ARE WORRIED. WALMARTS IS TAKING OVER THE WORLD.
CEEJAY~ I NEED TO GET MY BEDROOM GOING TOO. SO WHEN YOURS IS FINISHED, YOU CAN RUN ON UP HERE AND BEGIN MINE  MEADOW~ SORRY TO HEAR THE KIDS WERE UPSET. GOOD FOR YOU RAILING FOR THEIR RIGHTS!! :cb: BET THEY GOT AN EARFULL!! I DON'T THINK ANY HUBBY IS GOOD AT THIS STUFF UNLESS THEY ARE THE MR. MOM-TYPES. YOUR SIGGIE REMINDS ME OF THAT QUOTE WHEN I WORE IT IN MINE FOR AWHILE...LONG TIME AGO. IT ALWAYS MADE ME FEEL BETTER. NICE EXERCISING!! ROASTED CHICK PEAS? CARLA~ HOPE YOU PLAYED NICE IN THE REAL ESTATE GAME FROM H*LL. WHEN I FIRST PLAYED IT AS A CHILD, I LOVED IT. WHEN I PLAYED WITH ADULTS....WELL YOU CAN GUESS. WOULD RATHER IT WAS SCRABBLE ALSO. SPENT THE NIGHT WITH THE KIDS. WE HAD SPANISH FOOD OF COURSE AND WATCHED THE WEDDING DATE. NICE ROMANCE WITH DERMOT MULRONEY. RICHIE OF COURSE FELL ASLEEP LEAVING ME AND JEN TIME FOR A GOOD CHIN WAG. BEEN QUIET THIS WEEKEND. SMALL REPAIRS AND NO ALARMS. SHOCKING. STILL NO WORDS OF WISDOM TODAY FORTHCOMING, I THINK IT'S ALL THE SINUS MEADS. I'M IN A DAYQUIL COMBO FOG :dizzy: BUT IT'S BETTER THANTHE VERTIGO....SO I AM NOT COMPLAINING! HAPPY SUNDAY :moped: |
Good morning chicks,
Happy Sunday. The sun is shining and it looks like it's going to be a warm one today :sunny: I am doing a rotation of one day in the house, one day working outside. Yesterday I cleared one of the planting beds of all the weeds and after much discussion with DH, we decided on how to plant the flowers. He's off to get some support dowels for the big tall snapdragons out front and a trellis for the very happy, climbing all over tea rose in the back. Then he will plant the flowers and probably start cleaning the pool area. Always so much to do. I wish I could take a week off right now just to focus on the house. We went and laid out another wad last night on a new washer - a Sears Kenmore. After 2 hours of research yesterday it was between a Kenmore and Whirlpool. Since Whirlpool makes them both and they are sister models, there were very few differences between them. We wound up with the Kenmore only because the dial on the panel on the Whirlpool seemed a little more chintzy and prone to breakage than the buttons on the Kenmore. We have a king sized bed and queen sized guest beds so we need the extra capacity washer for the bedding. I'm not going to the laundromat just to wash bedding. The new machine comes Tuesday and they are hauling off the old one. Seems like such a waste but in the condition it's in, I wouldn't even offer it to anyone for free. So while DH is outside getting all sweaty again, I will be doing the cleaining inside today. Just have to get in the habit (both of us) of not messing stuff up once things are clean and tidy. Mel, the Maytags of today are not what they used to be. We had quite a chat with the salesman yesterday - he was at the same Sears store where I worked in downtown Chicago back in 1971 - how coincidental is that? He said the Sears today is nothing like it used to be. You hit it in the nose with the use and toss philosophy. Gotta get people to buy more - do that by making sure things don't last. Back in the early 70's there was a very popular book - was it Future Shock? - that talked about the consequences of a disposable society. Anyway - hope the sinuses clear up and get better for you. You wouldn't do too well down here. Everyone's snifflin'. Carla - hope you were able to quickly escape the dinner party. Hate when that happens, always feel bad about just saying sorry but no thanks. Hi Holly. Meadow - no froggie floater. Mel would swipe if from me and I'd never get it back :s:  Oh your poor kids :grouphug: double crossed like that. Shame on those teachers! Ceejay - this is the one weekend I would not be down on Beale Street. It's Memphis in May weekend which means lots of crowds and drunks and probably pick pockets too. Not my style. I would love to go down and enjoy the music at Tom Lee park but from what I hear it's a long hike, few "facilities" and I'm afraid I'm too old to do a "Woodstock" type thing again. Well I'd better get in gear here before I waste the morning away. Have a good Sunday. Hope those missing are enjoying their weekend away. |
Happy--I think that's the reason I've never been to the May festivities in Memphis. Speaking of washers I've had mom's washer which came from Sears since 1998 when mom passed away but she used it several years before that. It's still going strong.
Work started off with a little bump but things are okay now. Retha said there had been a humming noise since the storm this week end. I found the noise and had to call Dale--It was one of the generator alarms blairing. It's been a long time since I had to call him. When I went to call Dale the phone was messed up so I had to call Tim, he said to switch phones. dah why didn't I think of that. More later. |
It's been one heck of a bad day here. I spent the day in the ER with my neighbour whose husband had hit his head in a bad fall. They discharged him late afternoon against her wishes (no beds available - welcome to Ontario health care), and about an hour ago I heard a commotion in the hall - the ambulance was back and I have a bad feeling about his chances. :( :( Very upsetting as they are both lovely people. I may not hear until tomorrow as the son was there this time and I didn't want to intrude, but I'm feeling pretty bummed out.
So that's why I haven't posted my act of contrition for complaining about what turned out to be an absolutely lovely dinner with friends last night. Even the Monopoly was fun.  to you all, and take good care of yourselves and those you love. |
CARLA I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THE NEIGHBOR. SENDING GOOD WISHES AND HOPE EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT. WE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HOSPITALS HERE AND MUCH TO MUCH IS CALLED SMAE DAY SURGERY. IN AND OUT. INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE RUNNING THE SHOW NOW. AND TO THINK MY MIL WENT BACK TO CANADA TO GET BETTER HSOPITAL CARE
GLAD THE DINNER WENT WELL!! CEEJAY~ THE OLDER MODELS WERE BUILT BETTER. THEY MAKE THEM LIKE KLEENEX NOW. USE AND TOSS. BECAUSE YOU WERE CLEANING THE BEDROOM, I DID MY BATHROOM!! LOL HAPPY~ GOOD LUCK WITH THE NEW WASHER. LAUNDROMATS ARE NOT ANY FUN NOR CHEAP!!! I CAN JUST IMAGINE THE CROWDS FOR CELEBRATIONS IN THE SOUTH. ALL THAT LOVELY WEATHER AND BLUE SKIES. :beach: I CAN ALSO IMAGINE THE SINUS WEATHER THERE! :faint: SENDING YOU  I AM OFF. THE BUS IS GOING TO A MALL I DON'T LIKE SO I'M HEADING FOR THE LAUNDRY ROOM. I THOUGHT OF BUNDLING IT UP AND SENDING IT TOHAPPY TO TEST OUT HER NEW WASHER BUT THE POSTAGE WAS TOO MUCH! HAVE A GREAT DAY AND HOPE THE SUN IS SHINING ON ALL OF YOU. :moped: |
Good morning ladies,
I opened the door this morning to chase off the stupid grackles on the bird feeder and got such a noseful of fresh air. It was delightful! Sometimes - like after a rain or a new mowed lawn, the air just smells soooo good. I love the smell of clothes dried outside on a line but DH won't let me put up a close line. :snooty: Weekend is over already. Where did it go? Sorry to hear about your neighbor Carla. Geez that is awful. Hope he will be ok. I hear that about the socialized medicine. It's good for the minor stuff but boy oh boy if you're really sick... One of my ex-bosses was from Montreal. His mom bought a place in Florida just to use the U.S. health care. I think he said she needed an MRI for a potentially terminal situation and they were making her wait 6 months for the test because they only had 1 MRI in the whole province or something like that. Scary. Mel you nut - don't even think about sending me your laundry woman - I have enough of my own thank you very much. Happy rub-a-dub-dub to you. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e6...ndrysmilie.gif Ceejay - 10 plus years on a washer is doing fantastic. We had a Kenmore set at the old house. It was 8 years old and still doing well. We left it because it was a gas dryer - very common up north and DH noticed quite astutely when we were house hunting down here that it's very rare to find a house that supports a gas dryer. For some reason they are all electric down here. Well I think I want to take that half day off this afternoon. Work is getting busy and there aren't too many open slots left and I don't want to loose the time off that is due me. I still have quite a bit of the book to read for tomorrow night's book club too. I'm just not good about keeping up with those things yet I hate to give up the club. Anyway - on with the day. Happy Monday peeps. Stay busy and productive. |
Hello every one.
Happy--I see your egglight on  I feel the need to take off again just for me this time. Carla-I'm sure you could call your neighbor to check up on him. I understand about the hospital thing. Mel spoke the truth--Insurance runs things here. Mel--Want to do the rest of my laundry. oops laundry--Hosed off the dust mop heads and left them outside to dry. Need to go bring them in before Iforget again where they are. Not much going on aound here today. I've noticed that the journals are back so I might go there to post later this afternoon. Suzanne said they were corrupted. That must have been a huge mess. The actonel and calcium are giving my digestive system fits. I called my sister last night who is a nurse and she confirmed the smptoms that I've been having are related. She broke her left arm not long ago and has been in pain and sedated. She told me that her husband woke her up every hour to give her the meds. She still has trouble getting up and down but can manage a few things by herself. |
Ceejay, sorry to hear about the drug reaction. Annoying that what's supposed to make us healthier can make us feel so awful.
Happy, usually the health system here is best for serious, urgent problems and not so hot on day to day stuff. I think in this case they just made a stupid mistake in judgement. Sad that it cost a man's life, not that he wasn't on borrowed time anyway with an array of health issues. I did speak briefly to my friend this morning, but am giving her the space she needs now; her family has rallied around to provide support. I always wondered when Mel joked about firemen, but now I get it. With two emergency calls right next door on the same day, I've seen so many burly young men... Very impressed by how fast they arrive, how kind they are, and how many of them show up. Now if just one guy out of the 4 firemen, 5 police officers, and 3 paramedics who responded each time had been available to lend a hand when we were left to figure out on our own how to get the patient home after the initial visit to ER... Grrrrrr. Later gaters! |
So Mel, you don't like today's mall? What, no frappucinos?? I think your pollen has made its way up here. I've been sneezing and feeling blah for a couple of days now, and I'm pretty sure it's just spring allergies. All the trees have burst into leaf, as always happens the first week of May, and they've filled the canal (drained in winter). I bought a lightweight deck chair and sat out in the sun for a while with a book and the cat. It was lovely!

Sheeeeee's baaaaaaack
Hello darlin's. You have been busy without me hey? I don't have too much time to post too much. Yes I had a nice little spending spree in Cairns. Bought some new gear to take on holiday. Colour scheme this year is Red, Black and White. I might just chuck in the odd green for the days when I get stuck into Happy's garden or Mel's laundry room. Happy - wonderful to hear of the new job. Is it right out of SAP??, is it Business analysis??? Anyway I guess I will get to hear about it in around 22 days? Who's counting? Carla - nasty business about the poor neighbour. Seems like the health system is chaotic no matter where you go. Just as bad here. Operate this morning, chuck you out this afternoon. Or even worse as happened to my friend up here - you don't look too good, but we think you will be better off at home. This to a 62yo with a degenerative lung disease and who happened to be suffering from double pneumonia at the time. Forgot to mention, she also lives on her own. It's called caring!!!! I had a fridge that was near enough 14yo when I gave it to the DS2 for his new place. The fridge and freezer were working okay, but the fridge decided not to cool the stuff properly and the technician was called - $40 call out fee please - oh look at this fridge, it's a dinosaur, we don't have the parts to fix it anymore, you'll have to go buy a new one. It's temp guage has gone, the cooling unit doesn't work, it's u/s - $27.00 service fee please. Incensed, we decided to have a look at it ourselves and lo and behold, what did we find but a loose connection between the fridge and freezer. The fridge is still going strong. Better go get on with the job in hand. Try to get back later to comment some more. Oh and by the way - when I mentioned Jersey in June - I meant the Isle of Jersey - you know the one next to Guernsey in the Channel Islands between the coast of France and Britain. Tut - tut. Do you really think I would get everyone to descend on New Jersey for an entire month. Just think what damage we could do with the food in New York and NJ. |
WE DID FINALLY GO TO A GOOD MALL. SPENT TOO MUCH MONEY. CAME HOME AND MY EYES ARE ON FIRE. THE ONE WITH THE CYST HAS BEGUN AGAIN. I MIGHT BE GONE A FEW DAYS. I JUST LOOKED IN THE MIRROR TO SEE WHAT ALL THIS "GRITTY FEELING" IS. :yikes: :faint:
HOW IT COULD GET THIS BAD THAT FAST IS BEYOND ME. TALK TO YA SOON  TO ALL PS: I MIGHT FEEL LIKE SH*T BUT I WILL LOOK GOOD WHILE I AM!  |
howdy! Had a nice day. Got in 3 hours of gardening. Spent a couple hours on the phone with friends. One not so nice content wise but it felt good to listen and spupport someone i love.
Had a school council meeting tonight. Just finished the report.A meeting here in the morning and then going to a networking luncheon at 11:45, deliver some avon after and home for the kiddies. HUGS!!! |
Morning chicks,
It's gorgeous out there today. I should have gotten up early and gone for a walk. But I was up late frantically trying to finish my book for book club - I will be about 100 pages shy of finishing. Mel - I'm so sorry to hear that the peepers are acting up again. We will miss your cheery posts but you need to focus on resting and whatever you have to do so that this doesn't hit you 'up side dah head. I felt your sisterness and took the afternoon off and went shopping too. Spent too much also but I have some new work clothes - always a good thing. Get better soon and love to Jen if she's reading this to you. Shad - red, black and white is always a good choice. Unless it's all black, hot and humid outside  Your story about the refrigerator is funny - those do seem to last forever. We have had the same experience - sorry no parts this is too old - with the furnace at the old house. DH kept it running while I freaked every winter that it would break down in the bitterest of nights. Turns out the new one heated and cooled so much better that we should have dumped it long ago. However there is a big difference between appliances and a furnace and air conditioner. The new job is totally out of SAP. I'll be doing data analysis and producing metrics for monitoring vendor management and adherance to contract agreements. That's a mouthful, eh? I will find out more when I begin training tomorrow. Actually my 7 years as a help desk manager and adherance to SLAs (service level agreements) will come in handry for the job. Speaking of where to go next - I can probably get the new thread set up June 1 (after all Shad doesn't arrive until late in the night) but I will be busy with company the first week of the next 2 months. Someone else may have to take my place or we find a more generic place to park for the next 2 months. Carla - so sorry to hear about your neighbor. I assume he did not make it. :( It's funny to hear you speak of spring just popping it's head when we're just about to turn the corner to summer here. I'm sure Mel and I can send you some extra sinus meds tho getting them over the border can be a trick. Get the extra soft tissues for the nose  Nothing exciting going on in my corner of the world either so I guess I'll go earn my keep for the day. Be good. ;) |
popping in to say hello:wave:
Where is suzi and Madcat? |
Hi, Just had an email from Ruth wondering which dates in June work to visit with Shad and Madcat and Carla? in TO. Thinking Carla is out of town tho.
I am free the Monday and Tuesday. |
Holly, you're right, I can't make it to TO as I'm working the Mon/Tues /Wed. :( I'll be there in spirit, of course. ;) And via webcam if someone down there has one too. Mine is cheap and will be very unflattering  but as long as you've all braced yourselves with a glass or two of something fortifying, you should survive the horror.
Was it Ruth that had suggested Shad visit the "real" Ontario? If so, I might be able to spend an evening with them a lot closer to Otty (if I'm invited, that is). |
Ummm from memory, I'm in TO from afternoon of 10th June to afternoon on 14th June or could be 15th June. I will get the completed itinerary posted when I get home from Tville on 13th May. I need to get all the flights in and collated so I don't miss anything vital. I'll PM the Canadians as soon as I get myself sorted. I know I have to give dates soon to Ruth since she is such a busy lady. Carla if I do get kidnapped by the 'real' Canada, I'll let you know. I'm sure the ransom won't be too much for you all.
Heard from my friend in New Mexico, so it looks like I might be doing some driving in AZ and NM. Happy - we'll be glad to do something for the new month. I'll do some research when I get home about the J's and sort something. |
Since we're working on itineraries, save Saturday afternoon June 2 for a 3FC southern get together with Ceejay. Haven't heard from Painter although it's a long drive from Dallas to Memphis. The rest of the days I think we'll do one touristy thing per day which will give DH a chance to work on his guitar homework while driving the "Miss Daisies" around  Think I'll "sort out the bits" as Shad would say over supper now.

It all sounds like such fun!!!!!!
|
I AM ALIVE AND WELL AND UNABLE TO READ JUST YET.,
HOPE YOU ARE ALL WELL AND HAPPY! NOTHING NEW HERE. TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE WEATHER. WILLY TOOK ME TO THE STORE FOR WRAP AROUND-TYPE SUNGLASSES. I AM GOING TO TAKE STOCK OUT IN THE KLEENEX COMPANY!!! LOVE YOU ALL.:moped: |
Ooooh check out the cool chick in our midst  - who's that lady with the Foster Grants?
Do they even MAKE Foster Grant sunglasses any more? And why were they cool? Sorry... 70's flashback here. Hope the glasses help the peepers Mel. My mom and I have sensitive eyes - her especially and she loves the wrap around sunglasses. I need prescription ones and unfortunately, I can't get the bend around kind tho I do envy them when I see them in the store. Take care of yourself and get some extra soft Kleenex. Shad, is this the buddy you were waiting to hear from when you were planning the U.S. leg of your holiday? I admire you for driving here - you are far braver than I. Well I have a busy day at work - having a training session on the new job and an interesting meeting this afternoon. Not much time to post - 's ok because there isn't much going on down here. Happy Tuesday - no wait, it's Wednesday isn't it? :dizzy: Thank goodness for calendars and watches that have the day and date on them. |
Nothing new here.
Happy--Don't get me confusd again. The dj I listen to on the radio driving to work said it was Tuesday. I had to ask when I came in the building what day of the week it was. Mel-Take care of the eyes. Hello to the rest, Carla, Shad, Suzi, Holly and Madcat. |
Quick hello to bump us up. Very busy, rather tired, not much to report. Will post on the weekend.
Mel, take care of those eyes of blue. I can picture you now, a woman of mystery in her sexy wraparounds. :getwell:   |
Hi Honeys – we’re home. Made it back safe from New York City. What an interesting city that place is! We ate too much, walked until our feet gave up, and never made it out of midtown. The Boy liked it enough that he is already talking about “next time”. We left a few things undone, just in case. The only bad thing is that I gained back 2 of the 5 lbs I had lost before I went. But I’m back on track, ready to pay for the play.
Arg! I just clicked a link to some pictures a friend took last night. I hate to break it to everyone but I am fat. Crap. Howdy Ceejay and Holly! Carla, ahem, “real” Ontario? Maybe we should find a surreal Ontario location for Shad? Mel, are we going to have to rename you “Natasha” to go with your new woman of mystery personae? Congrats on the new job, Happy! How exciting it sounds. Shad, we can talk closer to your arrival. I’m good any day(s) you are here (the joys of contracting and having a cool boss). Speaking of contracts, you must be counting the days. Hey where is Suzi? Hi to everybody else too. I have to wander off again. I’ll make it back soon. |
Morning all,
Well today is another day, just like yesterday where the training database is not accessible due to some @#$%%^& idiot from our outsourced IT section having decided to move a server. Well hello, did you not think anyone might be using it? Did you even check? Why couldn't it be done over the weekend? Or next week when our training is more or less finished? They reckon it might be back at 11.00am - well it is now 11.33 and I'll give it another half hour and then go home and do something productive. I am definitely not going to be productive here! Sorry about that. Just had to vent the frustrations. Who care's - well maybe I do!!! Two days to go on a project and they pull the plug on the computer system. Got most of my packing done now. The big suitcase is already in the car. All food is gone from the apartment. I will have to eat out for the next couple of nights. Breakfast and lunch ditto for Friday. Went out to dinner last night with a friend and had a lovely meal, good company and lots of giggles. He was good value. Did a bit more on my itinerary last night. I'll get it up to date tonight as far as possible and then finish it off when I go home. At least you lot have the dates for my flights. Or most of you do anyhow. We'll get the stuff sorted this week. DS2 is in trouble again!!!!!! :faint: Went out mountain biking over the weekend and fell off - one broken wrist (right) one broken finger (left hand) Geeez he is good. Company says they will keep his job open for a short period of time. Medico says 4-6 weeks off work. Such a clever kid. He wasn't going to tell me except that I rang on a different matter and asked how his ankle is going. 7 minutes to midday - still no system. Mel - sorry to hear about the eyes once more. Gotta be something causing this problem. Hope they improve soon. Happy will put the 2nd on the itinerary tonight. Better go and see if I can lambast someone. I feel an urge to hit something coming on.................... |
Shad,
I'm going to have DH make us reservations for the Blanchard Caverns tour - probably one day during the week Monday - Wednesday. Just so you know... Blanchard Springs Caverns has a constant year-round temperature of 58°F and nearly 100% relative humidity. You may want to bring a lightweight jacket. The paved trails tend to be wet, so you should wear low-heeled, nonslip shoes. Hmm.. some of my sneakers tend to be slippery and the last time I wore my trail shoes they gave me a blister. Guess I'd better think about breaking a pair in. We also have the Graceland tour, a walk downtown along the Mississipi River with a stop on Beale street - must check out the blues music. That leaves one day open to fill yet. Plenty of time in between for laundry, sitting in the yard and chit chatting. Darn how the bugs come out once the weather warms up and gets muggy. Enough for now - have to go finish up the last few pages of my book - book club is tomorrow night tho there are only going to be a few of us. Night all - will catch up later or tomorrow. |
Hi Carla--Your egglight is aglow.
Still nothing exciting to report. Unless work counts--The newest employee is an instigator. I'm trying really hard to stay out of it, but I may have to put my two cents in and tell her to shut up. I'm not being sucked in once again to be the mediator, that's Tim's job, he's the boss, not me. I'm going outside to cut the grass. This is going to be my exercise for the day. |
Afternoon all,
Well here we are - last day in Townsville. I'm finishing up here shortly. Have to pack up the car, get an early night and leave first thing in the morning. You won't hear from me again until Sunday night or Monday morning - depending on the state of mind. It's finally finished!! Right - I am out of here. :cp:  Happy, I will be back to you - thank you for those details. Mel I hope you are okay! |
‘Morning! It’s Friday! At last!
Last night I was supposed to go over to a friend’s place to help her put together a piece of furniture. She’d been having double vision for a week or so and had been fast tracked to see a neurologist but she said she would call me once she got back from the appointment. I was getting worried when I hadn’t heard from her – turns out the neurologist looked at her and had her admitted to the hospital for some more tests… something about a possible aneurism on one of her cranial nerves. Not sure what that means and I’m waiting to hear more. Poor dear, this is just the latest in a bunch of crappy health things that have happened to her lately. I hope she’ll be ok. Shad, drive carefully and we’ll see you when you land at home. Your poor DS. Hmmm, do you think he should perhaps take up a few less active hobbies? dancing with you. It’s over! It’s over! No better feeling. Ceejay~ I still don‘t understand why some people feel that they need to stir things up. What do they get out of it? You are right to stay out of it as much as you can. Happy~ Good work on finishing your book! The Memphis activities sound really fun. Howdy to all the other lovely ladies here! Mel, hope you are back among us soon. I better get a move on. Managed a temporary fix on the back wheel of my bike and hopefully it will hold long enough to get it to the bike shop. I miss biking, but it is unsafe to ride as is. I’ll take it in and have the bolts replaced and then have them do a full tune-up on brakes and other parts. And then I’ll be wheeling happily along. Looks like a beautiful weekend. Time to get it started. |
Good morning chicks,
Oh my on your friend Madcat. Prayers and good wishes for a speedy recovery. How scary. :grouphug: What fun with the bike - glad you're getting it repaired. I remember how much you enjoy riding. It's that time of year for perfect early rides. :bike2: Enjoy. Shad - oh happy day. I can feel your excitement all the way over here! Nothing like walking out of a job to put a whistle on your lips and a spring in your step. AND this means that holiday/vacation starts too. Whooppee :woohoo: Ceejay - don't you just wonder why they can't hire a nice, normal person who can be a good buddy and a dependable co-worker? :dunno: Sorry to hear about the new one - good thinking to keep to yourself. Carla - pull together those last few ounces of energy - the weekend is upon us (well almost). Hope you get some re-charge time for yourself. Awaiting your return. As we do yours Mel. How are the eyes doing? Of course you can't answer because YOU SHOULD NOT BE READING THIS, RIGHT? :nono: Thinking of you... Hellos to Holly, Meadow and the MIA Painter and Suzi - is she lost in the bush somewhere? Or did she hang around Elvis' basement to play a few games of pool at Graceland? We didn't even do the Graceland tour yet... I have my foot in both jobs now. Have to be careful I don't get buried over my knees. Looking forward to the weekend myself. Later ladies... |
Just in to say hello
Things at work are quite right now but the storm will pop in about 7 p.m. I'm not staying 20 minutes over to let her run her mouth. She mentioned somethng thing this morning about filling out the paper work and told her that day shift operators are doing the paper work. She should not be filling out anything except her backwash gallons used. That didn't sit to well with her. I'll break her from this spouting off. She acts like a child I'll treat her as one. This is suppose to be my day off but I'm filling in for Bud. It will be better tomorrow. |
I CAME HERE EXPECTING MILLIONS OF POSTS AND WHAT DO I FIND? A BUNCH OF SLACKERS!!!!
THANK GOD! THAT MUCH LESS TO READ. :lol3: TO BE AN HONEST CHICK, I MUST CONFESS THAT IN ORDER TO MAKE THE EXTRA CASH THIS MONTH, I DRANK COFFEE SO I COULD KEEP THE ENERGY FLOW. NOTHING ELSE WORKS. SO THE REAL ANSWER TO THIS EYE THING IS TO FORGET ABOUT THE EXTRA WORK. THE ONLY WAY I CAN MANAGE IT IS WITH ARTIFICIAL STIMULANTS. HAVING SAID THAT IT'S NOW TIME FOR ME TO BE RESOLUTE ABOUT THE SITUATION. ENUFF SAID:faint: I HAVE BEEN OUTSIDE ENJOYING THE SUN, FOG AND SMOG. GOING FOR RIDES AND TO THE USUAL STORES. JOHN IS BACK FROM VACATION MONDAY SO MAINTENANCE IS ALL HIS ONCE AGAIN....LIKE HE REALLY RUNS THE PLACE  MY MOUNTAIN OF LAUNDRY IS NOW REDUCED TO A MORE MANAGABLE MOUND. I BEGAN TAKING EVERYTHING OUT OF THE CLOSETS SO I COULD EITHER KEEP IT OR GIVE IT AWAY.....AND TOSS. A WOMAN IN THE OFFICE TOOK A LARGE BOX FOR HERSELF AND FAMILY. AN IMPORTANT ELECTION IS JUNE 5TH SO THERE IS THE USUAL WIND-UP GOING ON.....AND THE EVER IMPORTANT TOSSING OF THE BULL GOING ON. SOME REAL DOWN AND DIRTY ELECTIONEERING. VERY SAD. THIS IS AN ELECTION TO VOTE FOR MR. SCUM OR MR. SCUMMIER. WITH FRAN LEAVING I ASKED FOR ARTS & CRAFTS TO BE POSTPONED TILL AFTER SHAD'S VISIT. THERE WOULD BE JUST TOO MUCH TO DO THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE. IF "THEY" WANT IT..."THEY" CAN DO IT! SO FAR NO ONE HAS STEPPED UP TOP THE PLATE. I MUST GET A MOVE ON. THE ACCOUNTANTS ARE ARRIVING AT 9 AND I AM NOT PREPARED FOR COMPANY, LET ALONE MEET THEM IN THE LOBBY.....:faint: HAPPY SATURDAY MY CHICKIE FRIENDS! HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND :moped: MADCAT~ I AM SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR FRIEND. SENDING ALL GOOD THOUGHTS HER WAY. SCARY STUFF FOR THAT POOR WOMAN. (((((HUGS)))))) CARLA~ YOU BETTER GET ENERGIZED OVER THE WEEKEND!! GET SOME CARLA TIME IN AND TIME TO PLAY WITH THE KITTIES! CEEJAY~ SEEMS LIKE YOU ALREADY HAVE THIS NEWBIE'S NUMBER. GOOD FOR YOU. IS THAT ANSWERING TO BOTH BOSSES TOO??? :faint: GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOUR WEEKEND ALSO IS RESTFUL. SHAD~ YOU ARE BUSY GETTING HOME, UNPACKING AND REACQUAINTED WITH THE HUNMBLE ABODE. TRY NOT TO SMACKTHE DS2 IN THE BACK OF HIS HEAD....WAIT A MINUTE....THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA!!! :tantrum: IS THIS ALL WE HAVE LEFT? :faint: :yikes: AND I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THIS.....AT LEAST ON THIS FORUM, WE "TALK" TO EACH OTHER. NOT LIKE OTHERS WHERE PEOPLE COME AND POST AND NEVER SAY A WORD TO ONE ANOTHER LIKE THEY THINK IT'S ALL ABOUT "ME" STUFF. WE ARE THE WORLDLY CHICKS AND WE RULE!!!:cb: :carrot: |
CARLA I HAD TO POST THIS..... I THINK I SHOULD CHANGE MY NAME TO MISS ELLIOT!!
A wealthy old lady decides to go on a photo safari in Africa, taking her faithful aged pomeranian named Elliott along for the company. One day the pom starts chasing butterflies and before long, Elliott discovers that he's lost.… Wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch. The old pom thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep doo-doo now!" Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap the old pom exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard! I wonder if there are any more around here?" Hearing this, the young leopard halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees. "Whew! says the leopard, that was close! That old pom nearly had me!" Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So off he goes, but the old pomeranian sees him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figures that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The young leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine! Now, the old pom sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?", but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old pom says. "Where's that darn monkey? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another leopard! Moral of this story.... Don't mess with old timers...age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill! B.S. and brilliance only come with age and experience. THIS IS ME IN A NUTSHELL....DAZZLE THEM WITH BRILLIANCE AND BAFFLE THEM WITH BS!!!:scooter: |
Good morning chicks,
I can't stay on long - something is wrong with the Internet connection on my PC and I'm using DH's right now. He needs his to do his guitar homework so I can't stay long. Going to be a busy weekend of heads down cleaning and purging. I'm actually looking forward to it. Mel - I agree with you about it being nice to come here and "talk" to each other. The support and encouragement are so valuable. I have left other threads because people just posted about themselves - other than posting for a challenge or something, what's the sense in that? :dunno: But I do disagree when you say your motto is baffle them with BS - you are quite the one who will be honest, up front and don't beat around the bush - no b.s. Sam kinda lady. That's why I like you ;)  Ok - I'm off to clean. DH said he would take a look at my PC after he gets his stuff done so hopefully I can get back on tonight. Have a good Saturday. to the chicks |
