ok ladies, so far so good, hoping for a good weigh in

tomorrow! it may or may not be due to tom starting yesterday. however, if you notice my mini goal at the bottom, i snuck a peek today any way and
it hit me at 179.8....if it's still there tomorrow i'm claiming it lol! we'll see though, i've been good, but as i said....tom....but, hey, i saw it and even if it doesn't show this week, it will by next week! so, how's that for positive thinking? lol! i've been doing a bible study that someone on here mentioned
and i won't go into the details, just that one part of it says that we have lost touch with hunger....we see it as a totally negative thing. God made our bodies with a built in signal to feed it food....hunger pangs....hellooooooo!
I honestly can't remember the last time I let myself get that hungry. The past several days, I have reaquainted myself with true hunger. I have waited to feel the hunger pangs before eating. Up till now, I have been eating at the very first sign of minor discomfort or before.....I've found that what I would formally classify as starvingggggggg, was barely the first stage of being hungry...I am trying to retrain my body and eating habits to recognize the differences between true hunger, thirst, and 'emotional hunger'....all i can say is that i have been dieting (1400cals) and exercising faithfully for a month and i have been stuck yo-yoing between 182-184 the entire month, it was very discouraging. I started this study and little experiment 3 days ago
and today I apparently hit my first short term goal, in spite of TOM....
Now that is not to say that I am not watching what I am eating, I am still sticking to 1400c, I've just also started watching when and why I am eating.
Well, this is getting long....
Welcome to the newbies and looking forward to seeing everyone's progress
tomorrow!
hugs
tracyg:)

Olivia~ way to go SIX days a week is great. I can't say I've done the same. I haven't got the exercise part into this yet...thought about washing my car for some form of exercise but it was only that a thought.

Gotwork~ welcome home  two more pounds down is great :cheer:

Sockmonkey - I just noticed your 14 pound loss YAY Keep it up girl ;)

I'm getting my daughters cold YUK First cold this year....hope it leaves quickly

Losing4another 04-29-2007 09:50 PM

Tracy- You are right ...can't really remember the last time I actually felt hungry. I eat more out of habit then hunger. When I get tired I notice that I sometimes mistake that with being hungry. Then sometimes in the morning I think I'm starving but if I continue with what I'm doing I'm not really hungry and soon forget what my brain was trying to tell me to do. Of course if I have the time I usually EAT .... way to much which leaves a big cycle for the rest of the day :(

DeterminedLisa 04-29-2007 10:38 PM

Hello, I'm Lisa. I hope you don't mind if I jump in.

I've been many different weights, with a lifetime non-pregnant high of
204 and a recent high (Feb-March 2007) of 172 and a recent low
(summer 2006) of 153. I weighed in this morning at 160.4, which is
12 lower than a couple of months ago, so I'm feeling proud about
that. The thing is, I've been working really hard on the diet and
exercise, and I've really been sacrificing
a lot of other areas of my life, I'm distracted, I'm unproductive at
work, I'm not so fun-loving these days, and I either need to make
weight-loss less of an effort (ha!) or else I need to get it done
with quickly and try to reassemble a more normal life during
maintenance phase. Assuming I get to maintenance phase,
which *is* what I'm assuming. This time I'm really determined. :)

I'm trying to lose 2 lbs per week, I'm trying to exercise every day,
eat 8 servings a day of vegetables, plenty of skim milk, some
lean meat/fish, really small amounts of grains like wild rice, and
fruit. Generally I'm aiming not to eat anything unless its calories
are packed with necessary nutrition. Although I'm trying to focus
on the behavior (diet and exercise) goals as measures of success,
the truth is what I really care about is seeing my body change,
whether I see it on a scale, through body fat measures,
from a tape measure, or from how my clothes fit. Anyway I'm
aiming for 158.4 next Monday.

My time zone is in Asia, so that's why my Monday Morning looks
like your Sunday night.

Looking forward to participating in your group,
Lisa

Hi Lisa :welcome:

We are so happy to have you with us. Sounds as though you have a sound plan, and would like some company as you put it into place. That's what The New Beginning is for ... We're picking up a good group here, and I guess we're all thinking about what we want to accomplish next week.

Tracy, that's great that you're hitting your first goal! I'm so pleased for you ... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! :)

Okay, off to bed and will look forward to our first weigh-in in a few hours! Good luck, all ... :grouphug: (I will do a chart Monday evening, and include everyone who would like to be on it.)

Hi gals. I just wanted to check in and say hello. I'm sitting here in front of my computer sipping herbal tea. I bought the tea today in an effort to find something harmless to replace my late night eating frenzy. I'm doing ok so far.

My weekend was mostly focused on gearing up for a serious weight loss effort. I signed up on this site, met you wonderful ladies on this thread, exercised a lot, and cooked very healthy meals with plenty of leftovers for packed lunches at work. I feel very motivated. I know I'm not alone here. :) Thanks.

   Hotbikini

On my way to bed, but just checked in and saw your late night post. Good for you!!! We can all do this, I know we can! :) Have a good night, and enjoy your tea ... :)

Any body find any fab new low cal snacks lately? I found these awesome fudge/ caramel icecream bars with only 57 calories today at Wal-Mart! I am excited because I love chocolate..It satisfies the glutton in me!

sockmonkey70 04-30-2007 02:12 AM

Hotbikini: I am getting really motivated too. The beginning of a new month really has me pumped. I kind of fell of my excercise routine because I am in the middle of finals, but I hope to be able to start back to my routine next week. I actually miss the gym...Never thought in a million years I would say that...

Lisa: Sounds like you have a great plan! I know how you feel with all those different weights. I have been down as low as 130 (too skinny for my frame and starving)..then up as high as 224 (yuck!!!! gluttony!!) Good luck! All it takes is a little dedication.

tracyg40 04-30-2007 09:54 AM

ok, tada, here is my first weigh in!

my goal is still to get below 180, which I am hoping will happen by next weigh in. I did see it on the scale yesterday, but with tom i am all over the place.
still, i did see a loss today, so i'm claiming it!

180.2:carrot: :carrot:

yay me!!!

ok, good luck everyone. welcome lisa! thanks for all the encouragement!
trying to really incorporate exercise into my routine, so that is one of my goals this week!

can't wait to see how everyone else is doing!!!
hugs

and the weight in for today is 247.5 ....I'm really tired of those 240's. The cold has kicked in full force and I feel like crap. Stuffy and achy all the fun stuff that comes with a cold. Tried to eat lunch and couldn't taste it so I went with an ice pop and some sugar free jello.

Good luck everyone

Doing The Drum Roll ...........

Good morning ladies ...

OFFICIAL WEIGHT REPORT (after week #1, ending April 30th):

:flow1: Lost 3 pounds, exercised 6 out of 7 days. :flow1:

THOUGHTS FOR COMING WEEK: Try to stay at 1400 cals. ... I keep bumping up to 1600 plus, and I'll lose faster if I can hold it down. Keep up the exercise ... maybe add some water aerobics this week.

(I have decided not to do a chart for the time being. We've all started at different times, and it would be too confusing. I will come up with something as we *blaze our trail* .... :dizzy: )

So, ladies, whether you lost, maintained or even gained this past week, THIS IS A NEW WEEK, and let's all see what we can do with it. :grouphug: Please report in, no matter what your experience was this past week ... Sometimes you just need a few days to mentally prepare yourself (and get your foods stocked) to make a good start.

Congrats to all who lost this past week ... :balloons: Maybe we should all kick our exercise up a bit/ get a little more active ... that alone makes me feel better! (Well, as long as I don't PULL SOMETHING! :D )

Looking forward to hearing from everyone today! (I now weigh 220, but my tracker is doing that quirky thing where it will not register the loss until you've lost 4 lbs.!)

Hotbikini 04-30-2007 09:38 PM

Ugh!

I'm up a pound from 188 to 189. :( I'm not freaking out, but I'm not happy either. I have to try harder to ward off the urges to eat at night. This will be my first full week as a member on this site. By next weigh in, I hope to lose 1 to 2 pounds. 3 pounds would be awesome!! We'll see. I'll take it one day at a time.

Congratulations to all you who lost this week. Keep up the great work!! We're going to do this, and we're going to do it together. :strong:

Aunty EM 04-30-2007 09:44 PM

I would love to join you all! My buddy - Paulette and I decided this afternoon that we would look into joining 3FC - I don't know how to get her here though. Is there a link I can send her?

babenwaiting 05-01-2007 12:41 AM

Losing, Tracy, Hotbikini ... so happy to see you all checking in today, and continuing on our little plan! I hope to hear from some of our other ladies tomorrow! Hotbikini, I'm sure that next week will be better for you so just hang in there!

Aunty Em ... :welcome: it would be great if you and Paulette join us! We have a great group of girls, and we are very serious about accomplishing our goal. I'm not sure what you mean by "getting her here?" Has she joined the site already?

I've had a good first day of our second week ... about 1400 cals. but no exercise today. It was too hot to walk by the time I was out and about ... but I intend to exercise the next six, I promise! I hope, girlies, that you've all had a good day, and I AM PULLING FOR YOU! :cheer:

Olivia
