Happy Birthday Kymm! Hope it's a great day for you with lots of hugs and kisses and attention from those you love! Have fun!
Great pictures everyone! Now that I have the scanner hooked up and running maybe I'll find some picture that I don't absolutely hate and have someone help me load it. I'm not versed on how to get anything on the web. My son is after me to figure out how to burn CDs now, so that will be my next project! Still don't have all my old programs loaded on this computer, but had to replace the floppy drive--they sent me the new one and I had to put it in. Wasn't hard, but it was kind of interesting. I am so up and down now following this WOE. Seems like as soon as I reach that low point that I got to, I just get cocky and eat stuff I know is not going to help me lose any more. Then the scale goes up and I'm good for a couple of days and then it starts all over. I am truly not in the mental place I was in when I started this in January. I think it has to do with a big change in my daily routine now tha school is out for summer and the fact that we have had some stressful situations going on here. I shouldn't let that hold me back, but I think that it is. Melf - you are at least fortunate that you can have phone conversations with your mother. We can call her anytime, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to have a good conversation with her since she doesn't remember anything. It gets pretty one-sided. Unfortunately, it will only get worse. Thank you for your kind thoughts. Rhoo - you keep plugging away and making progress. Please send a little of that determination my way, ok? LOL If I can remember, I will join you for chat tomorrow. I usually don't think about it until about 9 CST and it's usually too late. We are having all of our windows replaced next week, so I have to start doing some prep work as we will be leave for Milwaukee for the weekend. My house is so unorganized I hate to have these construction guys come in and see it, and they have to go into every room in the house! Serves me right for not dealing with clutter right away! Rollercoaster ride!!!!!!!
Hi everyone. I thought I would just post a quickie to let those of you who were asking where I was, that I went to the mountains last week. We left Thurs afternoon, and got back about 5pm yesterday. There are some hectic things going on right now. Right before I left for the mountains, the Assisted Living place called me to tell me my gma's bp was high... 220/110. They called back and said they called ambulance to take her to ER. I was in touch with ER a couple times, and from what they were saying gma would go home that same day...NOTTTTTTTTTT:mad: Long story short, it has been and still is one long nightmare. She is still there - and she shldn't be. They did a cardiolite on her this morning and I sat there for 4 hours without getting any results..... or ANY assistance from the nurses station. My gma wants to go home soo bad. They hospital really isn't doing her any good. They may come in ONCE in a 24 hour peroid to do the vitals. I am sooo ready to take a machine gun gun up there!!!!!! On top of all this, I had a few other stressful things going on last week too. My stomach has been KILLING me. Sorry this is a really negative post.
I just saw where you asked about me, Melf, and I didn't want you worrying. Thanks so much for your concern. Congrats for being the tough gal and getting back to work. Don't overdo it. Thanks, Deb, for posting that pic of us!!!!!!!!! I really wish we could have spent more time together. I want to try to get caught up on reading posts. I hope we all have a great SB week!!!!!!!!! |

Good Tuesday Morning!
http://members.aol.com/debelli/woo_hoo.jpg And, I do mean good! What a great morning so far, and as I start this post, it's only 8am!!! I woke up early this morning and decided to try and get in my walk BEFORE taking Michael to school. I figured, no sun as it was only 5:55am when I went outside, and the fact that I was VERY limited on time because I had to get back to take him to school seemed to push me a little bit more. Anyhow,I HAD MY BEST TIME EVER!!!!!!! I beat my last best time more than 1 1/2 minutes!!!! I did my 4.5 miles in 49:20!!!! I was so psyched when I saw that time, I truly can't believe it.:spin: On top of that, even though I was in a sort of feeding frenzy yesterday (nothing seemed to satisfy me-I get like this at times), I was able to stay at 127 today, so I made my EOM goal:) I set my next months EOM goal for 125-cross your fingers for me! TODAY IS TUESDAY TIPS and I don't know about anyone else, but I have crappy posture that I really need to work on. I found this article on the web, but remember I had read long ago in a magazine that good posture can make you appear 10lbs lighter, and if you try this in front of a mirror, you CAN see a difference. Back problems are common, and many cases can be prevented through proper posture. Maintaining good posture requires paying attention to the way you stand and sit. One thing you can do is to keep your stomach in by comfortably moving your belly button towards your spine. Also, you should stand straight with your head up. One way to do this is to imagine that you are a puppet and you have a string coming out of your head. Imagine that someone is pulling up on the string which causes you to stand at attention. Don't forget to keep your head up, and shoulders out. One way to keep your shoulders in correct position is to keep your thumbs facing forward. If you thumbs brush up against your thighs when you walk you probably have rounded shoulders. Another benefit of good posture is that it makes you look 10 pounds lighter. Establishing good posture takes effort, but after a while it becomes natural. Give it a try. Also, please don't forget, TONIGHT IS CHAT AT 9:15PM EST Hope you can be there! MELF, sorry to hear you had another rough day, but it sure sounds like you're a true trooper. I'm sure with your positive attitude, you will come through this. About the teeth grinding, Michael had his Dad buy him a mouth guard from Eckerds that you mold at home-you may want to look into that and see if maybe this would help you a bit-worth a try! BOB, I don't know how much time we will actually be spending in the Dungeon, but as much as you love movies, I must share one of my favorites with you at some point-maybe Sunday night after my Aunt's party! I'm counting down the whips, I mean days til you arrive:devil: KAREN, would love to see some pictures! Have your son help you along. We don't have a CD burner, lucky we have a computer period, but my sons Dad does and he tries to explain things like that to me, it's like speaking Latin to me! Unorganized-come to my house-it surely would make anyone feel better! I hope you can get back to the place you were mentally when you started SB-hopefully when you get back into your regular routine-whatever commitment you made before, time to find it again:) AMSER, sorry to hear about your Grandma-I hope they realease her from the hospital soon. They kept my Dad far too long in they needed to and it drove him batty. I have some more pics to load up, little by little I'll get them done-will also send you some so you can upload them on your computer. There's some wonderful ones with you!!! Eli's off today, but he's at work since he got a new pastry case and he needs to make sure they load the food in it correctly, so I hope he'll be home soon. No big plans, probably stick around home since we have to get Michael from school. Would ask Mom to do it, but saving her for Friday when BOB is here! Okay gals, I'm outta here for now. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I'll be checking in with you all later. Debbie 194/127/127 SB since 3/22/00 Reached goal 6/10/01 |

I'm back...............
Hi Girls!
Missed everyone...seems like weeks since I've posted. Things are slowly calming down at work, but the darn computer still isn't fixed! Dan the Man got home safely, and obviously a good portion of the reason you gals haven't heard from me  Kids went with their Aunt til Wednesday, we're honeymooning all over again! Been keeping up on the posts though, whenever I can jump on line. BOB-You'll have to give me the full details of the Detox Dungeon, for less than a month after your visit, she's packing the whips and flying to my house. HELP!!!! Dan the Man and I watched "Traffic" last night. I told Dan that it didn't fall into the "light romantic comedy" category, and that I got to pick the next flick at the video store! Kymmie-HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLFRIEND!!!!! What cool thing do you have planned for the day???? I know you'll probably be going out tonight! Let's us know what the plans are!!! Froggie-I'm a little out of the loop. What health problem are you having and what drugs are you on? Hope you are on the mend whatever is affecting you! Fly-Thanks so much for posting pictures!!!!! Loved being able to see my buddy! :) Soon Debbie has threatend that once she gets to my house in Calif, there will be mug shots of me on the board, so brace yourself! Solshine-Loved hearing your love story :). I know what you mean about "Jesus Freaks" and no need for explanation. You obviously found your soulmate! Did you get pictures back from your class reunion yet? You will have to find a scanner or send a few to Quilter. I'm on this weird computer at the house, and haven't mastered cut copy and paste yet, so I'm going to sign off for now. Just wanted to let everyone know I still exsist. P.S. Rosalie....I will finsihs with the romance story soon! Promise! |
Good morning!
Good morning all. Feeling much better today. Scale still at 173 and looking like it might become 172. I hope by WIW. It occurs to me during my down days that I am spending too much time focusing on my weight. It amazes me how much I let my weight rule my thoughts and actions. When my goal is to be self controlled in my eating and healthy in my weight. I am officially out of my funk. I think Melf was right in that I was blue because of my family leaving and it was compounded with the weight stall and dh sniping! And I know Deb is right about not letting anything get in the way of the goal! Got a ton of things to do today. I may be exercising just running around. Well enough droning on. Did enough of that this week. Thanks for the tolerance.
SEF-I miss you. Where are you? Frog-I actually heard Kermit say "It's not easy being green" when I read your last post. Don't know where that came from. Hope you're not a Zombie anymore and the docs come up with the right combo to help you. My prayers are with you. Any kid would be lucky to have a mom like you. AR-HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Hope you have a great day. Deb-Remember the "Oh what a beautiful morning" song from Oklahoma? I thought of that when I read your post this a.m. Congratulations on 127 and your NEW ALLTIME SPEED RECORD!!! Have fun today. BOB-Welcome back. I want to buy "Family Man" so tell me if it is worth it. At least you are not eating to comfort yourself about the pain. That will make dungeon week so much more awful. Tell Debbie to torture you first with those cookies!!! Sounds like you are healing though. Hang in there girl. Miss Melf-Love your positive attitude. I'm rubbing some on me. VBS sounds like fun. My memory is hard cookies and orange punch (we now call it bug juice). Are you still serving that? Thanks for the bolstering! I really needed that. And after a tough day too. You are awesome! I just read that another sign of grinding is sleepiness during the day? I bet if you take Deb's advice and buy a mouthguard from the drug store and you ruin it in a week or so. You'll probably have your answer. Karen-Thanks for the insight into the ups and downs of woe. I too am looking forward to a more regular routine. Amser-Hope your gm is out of the hospital today. Tuesday tip: Taken from Prevention Magazine May 2001 issue. The Miracle of Vinegar Glycemic index experts say that the acid in vinegar or lemon juice can substantially blunt the effect of a food on your blood sugar. That means that adding vinaigrette dressing to your salad and vinegar to your sb legal food (they had illegal things mentioned) are two smart, tasty ways to lower the GI. 'Fly sb since 6/29/01 185/173/145 (I changed it because I am officially healthy according to fitday at that weight). |
I takes me flipping forever to post. Missed Rhoo and Nancy the first time.
Rhoo-I  your tip! And what a time saver too. I think I'll get my workout clothes on under my shirt and shorts and do the workout right after the a.m. runs. Loved your camp story and take all the positives you can get! How did you know about my dh blinders!!!   Nance-looks like you have another chapter of the GREAT ROMANCE in the making. Glad Dan is home. It makes everything else so much easier to bear. Well, really gotta go now. Love butterfly! |

Quickie...
Failed to mention I tried to cook last night and ended up burning the chicken-Eli laughed when he got home, as well as plugging his nose from the smell! Hey, I tried, thought I'd save him from cooking! I just failed to watch it, I came on the computer-hey, a girl does have her priorities!!! RHOO, what a weird coincidence-the camp I send the kids off to is the same camp I went to when I was young, and the same people own it, but their kids are learning to take it over slowly-one added bonus-the same cook is still there! Probably using the same grease! Gosh, would I LOVE to be able to have a free supply of ANY berries! If you can't use them all now, freeze them, lay them out on a cookie tray and freeze them and THEN stick them into freezer bags for future use. Why not make some SG jelly, berry muffins, throw them in shakes-eat them just the way they are!!!! Ummm, instead of the blueberry buckle recipe I have posted, make is a raspberrie buckle!!! NANCE, glad to see you on line this morning! Ummm, whips and chains-just you wait til you see ALL of my arsenal!! I'll have a few special things for just BOB and a few just for you! :s: I'm holding you to that goal we spoke about!! ;) Talk to you later!!! FLY, thanks for the congrats-it felt great and yes, it was a BEAUTIFUL MORNING!:) I heard this guy who has a radio show down here on fitness (very knowledgeable guy) tell the listeners that for women, the scale can determine whether we have a good day or a bad day-he wasn't joking! If the scale says what I want, it's a great day, it not, the day just sucks! I guess it's something we both need to work on, huh? Hope you get that 172 for tomorrow! Will keep my fingers crossed for you! GRINCHY, thanks for posting your BIO on the BIO BOARD! Nice to be able to learn more about you. You had me laughing with your FAVORITE FOODS and the ice cream!!! Okay, Eli is home, he climbed back in bed since he was out of the house before 6am, so I guess I'll go take a shower and see what he wants to do for the few hours before we have to pick up Michael-maybe lunch-or maybe we'll wait and do an early dinner-haven't been to Outback in a while-guess we'll have to see. Just a reminder, TOMORROW IS WEIGH IN WEDNESDAY!!! I wish everyone the best of luck with the metal monsters!! Toodles Debbie 194/127/129 SB since 3/22/00 Reached goal 6/10/01 |
Good Morning
Deb- Really you should do an exchange student or let your son go over to france on a summer program. You would really enjoy it. Don't listen to people either about how all france kids drink, smoke, and have sex. Totally a not true statement and it's not any different than here in the usa. Except I think our reputation is alot worse than that. Their culture is actually much better than ours, it reminds me of when I was a kid and probably when all you folks were younger. It's a more structured home life with rules and chores. They are not lazy kids at all like alot of our kids are here. She was amazed how lazy kids are here in the USA and can't swim very well either. She says in France alot of good swimmers and families eat together and they don't watch much TV. She is a great kid and I would love to see her again. She wants us to go to France someday to stay with her family. I need to study french first. It's a real learning experience for everyone. She doesn't want to go home right now. She said this morning she wants to stay a few weeks more. I was suprised to learn how much different there school year is also. They have 8 weeks of holiday vacations and 2 months off in the summer. They also go to school from 8 to 12 then 1 to 5. You can go earlier than that also. They start those hours at 8 1/2 years old. She also can speak german, latin, spanish, and american. Too bad we don't push that on our kids as requirements for school. Lost a few lbs in these few weeks. Finally got on that scale and down to 156 this week even with TOM. |
She's Back!
Did y'all miss me? I thought I left strict instructions that there were to be daily lamentations on my absence until I returned!
I spent a week in the beautiful NC mountains--just a few miles from Asheville. Montreat is a gorgeous conference center. The theme of the conference was Sabbeth keeping--so we were ordered to spend a lot of time resting and napping. I want to go back! The only problem is that they provided all our meals and it was starchfest! The food I took with me wasn't nearly enough to last the week, so faced with starvation I had to adapt (OK so I really didn't have to adapt all the way to the desert table). Anyway I'm up a bit from my low--but it wasn't as bad as I feared. I guess I now need a dew days in the detox dungeon along with BOB!:dz: My tip for the week comes from the theme of the conference. We work so hard--our jobs, our families, our WOE, etc. We even work hard playing. Be sure to take time to rest, to recharge your batteries. Our bodies are undergoing significant changes and we need to make sure we have some down time so we can physicially recharge. We need to recharge mentally too. It doesn't have to be an entire day, but try to find a few hours every week and develop a ritual for rest. You'll be amazed at the good it will do! AR--HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! I hope you have a great celebration today! Tha't all for now--I have lots ofcatching up to do after being gone for a week. Susan 300/241:mad: /150 July 10, 2000 |

HAVE A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Hi ALL! Well, I went to the Neurologist this am & he increased my medication to try to control the pain. Wants me to see my dentist about the TMJ, but I've read a couple of you post about the mouth peice, so I think I will check it out first. Thanks for the advise.
Sorry that I am unable to reply to posts at this time, but I really need a nap before VBS tonight. Funny how when you tell your dr that you have pain somewhere they insist on pressing there to make it hurt more. :?: Well, that's what this one did when I told him the ENT had said I had TMJ he says "Let me see" & made that horrible pain come back in my jaws. It was feeling better, but thanks to him now it's not, so I need a nap with my friend "MR. HEATING PAD" Will also miss chat tonight, but will try to post again tomorrow. Ann, glad to see you're back. Talk again soon. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYMN |
It's a green afternoon. Ran out of $$ so back home. Funny how that works. Did get a new do and feeling perky! So will dress up pretty for dh to come home too. (Personally I don't think they care much about looks as long as there's hot food awaiting. Exception Eli-No firetrucks right?) I ate my Subway salad again. YUM YUM. Gotta start working on my water.
Debbie-you mentioned SG jelly. Tell me more, puhleese! I really miss the strawberry preserves I did this May. If I can make something like that legally I will send you a big smooch! Right now Polaner is my best friend. Just a tsp in my oatmeal and I'm a happy woman. At least for an hour. Raly-France sounds so wonderful. I hope you get the chance to visit. Fillese-Of course we missed you. Time to get back on track and put those starchfest and dessert tables behind. I'm going to apply recharge in my day if I have to hide in the potty to do it! Melf-I see you visited Dr. Evil again. Be careful you don't develop a Pavlovian reflex when his hands come closer! Hope Mr. Heating Pad helps. Well, love to all. Time to pretty up and go to the grocery store. A nice broiled chicken sounds good with some stir fried veggies. Boys will have something special too. 'Fly sb since 6/29/01 185/173/145 |
