Question!!

I am curious, is Sugar Busters a group of sugar intake watchers? I am most specifically looking for sugar free drinks and foods.

Cowgirl: I'm sure the rest of the crowd will have more comments, but Sugar Busters is a bonafide way of eating or 'diet'. Like, some would say, I'm doing Weight Watchers or South Beach, we say, I'm doing Sugar Busters. It's a whole plan...and, in most of our opinion, is the best plan there is!! ;) It's the only plan that's worked for me, anyway!! Check out the book on Amazon or a book store...I'm sure you'll agree it makes sense.

Anyhow....you're looking for sugar free foods/drinks. Water is a good place to start :lol3: Sorry...couldn't help that. I drink Crystal Light, but I'd be happier drinking it if it were sweetened wtih Splenda. That being said, I know a lot of the girls on our boards drink diet soda sweetened with Splenda. I also have coffee with Splenda and half-n-half. We can also have milk (the lower the %age, the better....like skim, but I drink 1%, myself).

As for food...if you're looking for sugar free, an easy cheat is that if it's low-carb, it's probably low/no-sugar.

Also, we are sugar controlling, but the true word is 'insulin controlling'. So, we steer clear of things that may not contain sugar, but spike your insulin levels, like white/enriched flour, white rice, white potatoes. Eliminating these three things eliminate a LOT from your daily menu... There are other veggies and fruits not allowed, too, such as watermelon, ripe bananas, beets, corn (including breads/chips made with corn products)...most all else is allowed.

Anyhow...I always think I'll be quick with my description of SB, but it always gets drawn out...hope this helps... :^:

Sugarbusters is a diet based on the glycemic index. The book is available in most bookstores and libraries. It was kind of the American version of Montignac's Eat Yourself Slim. Those of us following Sugarbusters do watch sugar intake. The diet only allows 3 grams of sugar per serving of prepared foods. It also limits white flour, white rice, white potatoes, corn, and other empty carb foods. Whole grains, such as 100% whole wheat, brown rice, and even sweet potatoes are allowed. Most of us are pretty careful about reading labels and choosing foods that are low in sugar, or have no added sugar at all. Does this help? You can send me a private message if you have any questions. If you are looking for a list, or suggestions, I recommend you try over on the weekly support thread, as everyone usually checks in there. Post a reply in this weeks thread, and everyone will see it. :)
