Need info about SB

It's 11:28 p.m. an I'm looking forward to getting to my public library in the morning to check out the Sugar Buster book. In the meantime can someone explain the basic of SB to me. I do not eat sugar, because it cause migraines, so I use Splenda. I've been sugar-free since 1985.

What is it about SB that is going to help me lose these 100 pounds? I do not eat much meat, mainly fish. I'm going through hormonal changes right now so I'm having a difficult time losing weight.

Help! Please :).

I am sorry you did not get a quicker response to your post. Most of the Sugarbusters post over on the weekly support board. Sugarbusters is based on a low Glycemic Index, and keeps the insulin levels down. Even if you are off sugar, you may eat foods that cause a significant insulin response, which in turn causes weight gain. The basics of SB are to eat healthy, non processed foods. You avoid white sugar, white flour, white rice, corn, beets, pineapple. Those foods are all high GI and cause a big insulin response by turning into sugar in the blood stream rather quickly. The only counting needed is to count starchy servings and limit it to three or less a day. That would include whole wheat bread, brown rice, oatmeal, etc. I do this program because my doctor recommended it. I find it is very balanced, and probably the healthiest diet out there.

If you have questions, or want some support, please join us over on the Sugarbusters Weekly support thread. There are a number of us over there, and a few have lost more than 100 pounds eating this way.

Need Help! Does any one on SB have any idea if the cocunut oil diet works-they say it helps low carb dieters?
