HiedieHo Everyone!

Still don't feel too peppy, this has been a major flare-up. But I am feeling better. All I did yesterday was go to PT and do a load of wash, and made spaghetti and meatballs with prepared items so no real work. Also got out in the pool, which felt good. Was going to houseclean today but am thinking better of it.

DONNA & LIVE: Think I must be the only one who hasn't welcomed you both. Sorry about that! I have just been doing the minimal. You will find a wonderful group of peole here, they really help each other.

TEENSY: It always gives me a chuckle when someone wonders if they're eating eough (I really know what you mean!), I figure that's why I'm here...or is it because I eat too much!?! Love huckleberries, think they more flavorful than blue. Where we used to pick you had to watch for copperheads and rattlers. Made it seem like an adventure! for the wins.

KEN: Thanks for the hug. I love typos! Cute that your dd has a "sunny" nose!

MONET: Glad your ears are feeling better. Thanks for the tip. I have been having tomatoes almost every day in salads. I do do regular exercises to keep as limber as possible. I did feel better after the pool. Have been neglecting that lately as it has seemed like so much trouble to change clothes. Now shoulder is doing better it doesn't really hurt to dress and undress so I guess I have no excuse now! When you have a flare-up do you feel flushed? I feel like I have a fever but head is not hot and AC is on!

JACKK: You never know how the treatments will affect you, must be frustrating. Hope the after effects will be less. I don't take TPT, I went to PT (Physical Therapy). I am really sore immediately after, but it is helping. For arthur I take Celebrex twice and day, and when I am really miaserable I add some Ibruprofen. I have to be careful because of my stomach, I take a pill for my stomach in order to be able to take the pills for arthur! There are times when we wish we would have no desire to eat, but that changes when you realize how miserbale it makes someone feel. Prayers.

PANCHO: My DD had an ovary burst and wound up having emergency surgery. Glad you went to dr. immediately! Pray that all will be well and it was just a fluke pain.

FILLISE: Glad Savannah is improving. Prayers continue.

ROSALIE: My kids had hamsters and one got out. We also had a cat......need I say more? Hope the Valeren helps your neck. It can be very wearing when something dosen't work right and the pain drags on.

Time to do some moving so I don't stiffen up more. Sitting here is not the best thing for me.

Belated FF:

Thought all you young folks would get a kick out of this as it will give you something to lookw forward to.! I assure none of these apply to me!

Many of us "Old Folks" (those over 40, WAY over 40 or hovering near 40) are quite confused about how we should present ourselves. We're unsure about the kind of image we are projecting and whether or not we are correct as we try to conform to current fashions.

Despite what you may have seen on the streets, the following
combinations DO NOT go together and should be avoided:

1. A nose ring and bifocals
2. Spiked hair and bald spots
3. A pierced tongue and dentures
4. Miniskirts and support hose
5. Ankle bracelets and corn pads
6. Speedo's and cellulite
7. A belly button ring and a gall bladder surgery scar
8. Unbuttoned disco shirts and a heart monitor
9. Midriff shirts and a midriff bulge
10. Bikinis and liver spots
11. Short shorts and varicose veins
12. In-line skates and a walker
13. Thongs and Depends

May good things happen

Good Saturday afternoon.

Got up and got my nails done this morning. Had to run to the liquor store and get a gift for a friend and some gift bags for the kids gifts. Got Chinese for lunch. It had a little taste. Bet thing so far. No legal, but at this point I am starving and not much in this house to eat or want to eat.

Dh is taking a nap so I am trying to be quiet so he can get some rest. Had to work at 6:00 this morning.

Nothing much going on here.

Monet, glad you got a night off of cooking. I can't ever go w/o shoes. Even in my house I wear little slippers. I can't believe Tom jogs barefoot. I would step on everything. Good idea getting the girls to pick the tomatoes.

Toni, have a great weekend and get some rest.

Bob, 2 weeks of laundry? I wouldn't have enough panties. I don't think it will be the Cat's year either. Guess it might be the bulldogs. Ilove your by-line. how funny.

Teensy, Congrats on the winnings. That always makes it more fun.

Rosalie, have fun watching those critters. I would make sure they stayed in their cages. They do tend to play at night. Hey, we have to fight the dog for everything. He is a begger. i guess he knows he is at grandmas. Hope the meds help your neck.

Sef, I take the celebrex twice a day too, or did. It seems to help. Some days you just have to rest and say the heck with things. They will wait.

Have a great weekend.

Good Saturday Afternoon!

It's quiet here, but I have a lot of work to do today, so not much playing for me. Oh well.

Jackie--Hang in there, the treatments are almost over. Just take care of yourself--ok?

Monet--I'll let you know. I think it will be closer to the time we go to NYC in the hopes that I can loose a few more lbs before then!

Toni--You have a good weekend too!

BOB--I heard you lound and clear!!!!! LOL! Good heavens, it will be an interesting fall with the two of us scrapping over football AND politics! Enjoy the movies. I've watched exactly one movie since I got my DVD player--hmmm, maybe tonight! Are you sticking your tongue out at me?????

Teensy--Sounds like you were a big winner! WTG!

Marie--Have a good weekend!

SEF--Hope you are feeling better soon!!

It seems like a quiet weekend on the board. Hope everyone is doing well!

Jackie--we were posting at the same time. I have a question--how often do you get a new set of nails????? Are yours acrylic, gel or something else?

Good Saturday:

I had a few minutes to pop on and say hello. I got a lot accomplished today. I hit a few garage sales, went to Wal-Mart, got the oil changed on the truck, went to Whole Foods & Fry's..... all by myself. It's amazing how fast you can get errands done when you aren't dragging the little ones along.

Thanks for all the well wishes and information. I really hope it's nothing. BUT, in a way I wish they would find a little something that wasn't serious. I hate having something like that happen and no answers. Does anyone know if a burst cyst would show up on the Ultrasound or not? I have also read that endometriosis can cause pain like that. I have had really painful menstrual cycles since I've given birth to Lane (some that double me over). We will see how it all plays out.

I have been eating well, pretty much. I plan to try some new recipes this coming week. I have some in my low-carb recipe book, and some I've found on some sites. I have to start sitting down on the weekends and planning some meals for the week ahead instead of playing it by ear every night. I've gotten so disorganized lately. I am going to make some legal desserts too; it's been awhile since I've done that.

Well, I gotta go!

Have a great rest of the weekend!

everyone! So sorry I have been MIA again. I did go back to work & had not had a day off since.

I am sooooo disgusted with myself, which is probably the biggest reason I have not been here. I have gained another 10 lbs since my sinus surgery last month. I just can't seem to get a grip. I've been doing sweets, eating in hiding, stress eating, & just plain over-eating. What is wrong with me? I had lost a total of 60 lbs & doing great. Now I've gained back 30 & clothes don't fit. I'm uncomfortable doing things that I use to be able to do like bending over to tie my shoes. I know what I need to do, it's just a matter of doing it!

I feel lousy and tired too. Just blahhhh!! I have caught the cold from dd, not sure if it is going to get worst yet but right now, I am feeling okay, just slight runny nose and tiredness. "Tom" is here, so that doesn't help. DD is feeling extra emotional as well but she is feeling much better, just runny nose and a little cough. Her fever diminished since yesterday.

My eating has been okay...don't really have the appetite though. Anyway, I had illegal 2 small pieces of illegal thin crust pizza and a mixed green salad for lunch. Breakfast was 2 medium pancakes and 1.5 scrambled eggs. Dinner will be leftover stir-fry noddles with veges and shrimps. Oh, I also have a leftover small fish fillet so will eat that as well.

Some replies :

COUNTRY : Happy Anniversary to you and dh tomorrow.

PANCHO : I am glad you get yourself checked out. Hopefully it is nothing serious. Waiting for results can be so nerve-wrecking!! Keep us posted. Glad the dinner with your dad went well. If I go to Carabbas, I will definitely try the Chicken Marsala.

FILLISE : Thanks for Savannah updates. I am so happy for her and her family. That sure make my day

MONET : Oh, what a small world. Glad you enjoyed the food in "Penang" restaurant. I haven't been there in ages, especially now that I am on SB. Have you tried chinese "dim sum" before. Not far from Penang is a chinese restaurant called, Canton House and they serve a decent Dim Sum (little appetizers). Not the best but I can live with it...lol. My dh and I loves all kind of food. We try different foods all the time. I love satay too but not terribly crazy about it. Satay is a street food and very cheap as well. I have never make them before. I saw this satay recipe at one of the malaysian website, you can check it out. However, the recipe seems quite difficult but definitely seems very authentic. Will love to exchange recipes anytime. Monet, I loveeeeeee Publix fried chicken and their chicken wings especially Mardi Gras and Sweet and Sour chicken Wings. I want to make their sweet and sour chicken wings using Agave but cannot figure out their recipe. Do you by any chance knows the recipe?? *wink*...lol.

TONI : Sounds like you had a great shopping day. Would love to hear what bargains you found

ROSALIE : Hope your neck feels better soon. I prefer to make chicken curry as well. I like to use the drumstick (cut into 2 pieces) and then stew them until they are tender. The bones gave the dish so much flavor. Yum, nothing like some curry on weekends

TEENSY : Wow, congrats on you and dh winning at the casino. You sure did well at the buffet. I am not so sure I will be as behave as you did Have you smell curry powder before? But then again, not all the curry powder smells good I love the smell of curry powder, it smells very aromatic. Curries are not necessary spicy but it gives the dish a certain depth. If you like strong flavor food, you should like curry. The only way to tell if you like curry is to try it. Beware, you might get hooked 10 lbs to your goal? Well done! I have seen your pics before and you looked great and purrrfect!! lol. The last 10 lbs will take a while. I think as long as you are eating enough that you don't feel hungry after most meals, I believe you should be eating enough. If you feel that you do not eat enough, go ahead and eat a little more and see what happens. Have you measure yourself? I recently realized that I have lost inches again during those months that the scale didn't move.

Got to stop here. DD is doing something. She just told me "good bye, see you" and then closed my room's door. I think she is going somewhere...pretending though...lol. Got to check on that little piglet! Will check in later!

The deck party was kind of slow and small. They got almost nothing done. Tom is dinkering with his design of the stairs and is being obsessive compulsive about the measurements. sigh. If he had done them the way they were before, he would be done with the whole project by now! Men!

Eating has not been stellar today. I had a half of a sub on Publix ww sub roll, which is not 100% ww. It sure was good! I even ate a handful of Cape Cod potato chips. I did get to Curves this morning, so I felt good about that. An old friend of mine was there, and came home with me for a cup of coffee after our workout. It was nice to catch up with her. My son came over to help do some moving of stuff to get ready for him to move in. I have a ton to do to get the room ready for him, but thankfully, I can give him jobs to do and he will do them!

I got on the scale this morning. BIG mistake. I am up 16 pounds from my low two months ago. I realize some of it is my fault for the little cheats that add up, but I do know a good bit is due to my thyroid going wacky on me. Its very discouraging!

KENG: Thanks for the link! Gonna go and check it out. I LOVE Dim Sum. I make the steamed buns, and the shrimp dumplings, and a few others. I love bean curd rolls, and the little packets of glutinous rice with all the 'stuff' in it. I have not been to Canton House, but I will check it out. We got to Oriental Pearl, and First China for dim sum. I have not been in ages, but this afternoon, my daughter was telling me that Oriental Pearl serves it until 3 daily. I think I am going to go there for lunch one day, and splurge!

Hi Everyone

I've just finished defrosting my freezer. It's been bugging me for days and I just kept putting off doing it. After falling asleep in front of the t.v earlier I knew I would be staying up late so thought I would get my butt moving and get it done. I was out shopping to-day. Went looking for a blouse and came back with a blue pant suit, two tops and a black 3/4 sleeve jacket. I expect to be working again in Sept/October so thought I should have something new to wear. . My eating was good to-day except for a few cookies that I had after dinner this evening. Just had a yen for something sweet with my cup of tea.

B - Oatmeal made with water with a little agave and cream added.

L - Curried chana dal with veggies - carrots, squash, celery, onions, tomato and sweet potato.

Sn - 1 slice homemade whole grain spelt bread with cream cheese and fruit spread.

D - Leftover pot-roast chicken with almond brown rice dressing. Cream of cauliflower soup. Didn't feel like any other veggies but had about 1 1/2 cups of cauliflower in the soup. Tea with three digestive cookies.
Several cups of coffee and a glass of 1% milk with ovaltine.

BOB - The next time you are talking to Debbie say Hi from me and let her know she is missed around here.

Pancho - I'm sure you enjoyed the freedom you had to-day to go shopping alone. I remember how hard it could be to shop with kids in tow.

Monet - I second BOB's suggestion for Isotoner slippers. The one's I have are nylon with a leather sole and it's almost like going barefoot. You must be feeling very frustrated to see the scale going up. I know it is partly to do with your thyroid but have you tried writing down everything you eat for a few days - if you are having frequent cheats they certainly do add up. Do you ever use a program like Fitday to see how many calories you are taking in? I find it helpful to do it once in a while. I seem to pay more attention to what I am eating when I do it although it is too time consuming to do it all the time.

Sef - Hope you are feeling better. Your tale about the hamster getting lost reminded me of the time when my ds had a couple of newts. They would sit on top of the water tank on a log. We had a cat too at the time and one of the newts disappeared one day. We never did find him. We always wondered if the cat had a good meal that day.

Jack-K - I wouldn't worry about anything being legal at this time. As long as you are able to get some nourishment and enjoy it that's the most important thing. You can get back to being op when you are feeling better.

Melf - Sorry to hear that you are having such a hard time. Hope you can soon get motivated to get back op again. It would be a shame to undo all the good you have done in the last couple of years. Hope to see you on the board more.

Kengjw - Sorry you are not feeling so good. Hope you feel better soon. Hope Jess wasn't up to any mischief when she closed the door on you.

I think it is time I thought about hitting the sack. If I don't go soon I'll be gettign hungry and I don't want to eat at this hour.

Goodnite.

Marie.

Good Morning! er, afternoon, actually. Got up late, and I am spending some time chilling, drinking coffee and reading.

Tom has finally cut out the stringer for the stairs for the deck!! woo hoo! In another two or three days, we may have stairs down from the deck again. The rest of the project is not difficult, just grunt work that will take a bit of time to complete, but doesn't require a lot of brain power. I know he is relieved.

The weather is HOT and muggy. I am enjoying laying on the bed with the ceiling fan stirring the air over me, while I read. Dang, I am lazy!

Good morning all--

Dh took off first thing this morning to go down and go fishing with his nephew. He will be gone until at least Tuesday night. Depends oh how the fishing is. They are only allowed a two day limit in their possession. But that is 50 fish each. Last year when he went he was only gone overnight. I love him dearly.....but it will be nice to be alone for a couple of days with just the dogs. (Neither one of us works outside the home anymore......so we are always together.)

I have already got the lawn mowed. And been down to the garden for some lettuce and tomatoes. I am planning on a big Crab salad for lunch. Fresh lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes!! Yum. Done 2 loads of laundry too. I usually get soooo much more done in a day when he is gone.

Went to my Grandma's yesterday. Had a very small group, only 4 of us. Everyone else had other plans......I missed the last lwo weekends so figured I had better put in an appearance. Eating was good all day. I probably had one too many starches though. I found a spicy hot Trail Mix, that is mostly legal......it does have some corn syrup in it, but the sugar grams are only 1 per serving. It is really good, though I think it could become habit forming!!

Peaches are ready. So I am just waiting to hear from a friend to find out when she wants to go pick. Then I think I will can some and make some jam too. Boy, my relatives are really going to get an assortment of jams in their Goody Bags this year. So maybe I won't have to do so much baking and candy making. Yeah!!

Well, I am going to get busy........see you all this evening.

HiedieHo Everyone!

Lazy day. The less I do the less I want to do! Did dust.

Did you ever get a call and when you hear the name your heart drops? That happened yesterday, and it was a relief when the lady said no, no it's good news in way. Christine is a dear friend of my stepmother, they are so close that Chritine has Power of Attorney in wemergencies. She is a wonderful lady. She called to say she was making arrangements for y SM to go to the Masonic Home. That is such good news. Have felt she should not be by herself for quite a while now. When we talk she is getting quite forgetful and mixed up. It is hard when you are so far away. SM has a son but they are not close by any stretch of the imagination. Of the three steps I am the only one who keeps in touch, and my sister lives only a few blocks away but resented DAd remarrying so there is no closeness there. My brother doesn't keep in touch hardly at all with anyone, but if I need him he will do anything for me. We are a strange family!

JACKK: DIL and GD get nails done regularly. Me I do Sally Hansen!

MONET: The first thing I do when I walk in the door is kick off the shoes. Even in PA I would go barefoot in the winter, running out to the curb in the snow to pick up paper. But when I am shopping and doing a lot of walking I wear sensible shoes or sneakers.

PANCHO: We love our children and families but it is nice to have some time to ourselves, even if it is running errands!

MELF: You must belong to the same club I do! I am regusted with myself. Know I can do it, just need a bigger fire built under me. I think Monet is a memebr too! Glad you are holding up with the work.

KEN: Hate th4 BLAHS, not sick enough to be in bed, not well enough to do much of anything. Hope you feel better.

ROSALIE: Nice shopping spree. One little antedote generates another! I think that sort of helps connect us all. We're all just people with same interests somewhere along the line.

TEENSY: See note to Pancho. My husband had a job on a week off a week, which worked out okay. BY the time you could be bored, ghe left. When he came home it was like a honeymoon! Ahhhh, those were the days! Peaches........I must confess, I had some last night with Cointrea over them! Not legal but yummy!

Just heard a LOUD clap of thunder out of nowhere and now there is more rumblings continuing. Time to get off of here.

May good things happen

Dh is putting Jess to sleep so I have free time on hand. Hmmm....actually, it's Jessica putting daddy to sleep. I can hear daddy's snoring from the baby monitor in my room...LOL.

My eating was lousy today, not balance especially the veges's part. I had no appetite to eat and didn't feel like cooking. My menu for today :

Breakfast : Leftover pancakes from yesteday (2 pieces). No protein!

No snack

Lunch : 1/2 ham and cheese sandwich. No veges.

No snack

Dinner : Publix buffalo chicken wings and baked sweet potatoes. I was lazy in putting together some salad. Oh, a small piece of dh's birthday cake (Boston Yellow Creme Cake). We delayed his blowing candle until today.

Whenever I don't eat balance especially no veges, I do not feel "healthy" inside. Got to get my veges in tomorrow. Tomorrow, we invited our next door neighbor over for dinner. Dh will be grilling his specialty, steaks!! He grills the best steaks I ever eaten and I am truly spoilt because I won't eat steaks anywhere else...hmmm...unless a upscale restaurant that is famous for their steaks I am planning on making some sweet potatoes and some roasted grill veges with the steaks. We will have dh's birthday cake for dessert.

I am feeling better, no runny nose now. Not as tired as this morning. I don't know if it has to do with a combination of "Tom" and full moon, I wasn't a nice person to be around the last few days. I seemed so impatient, so easily overwhelmed and so short-temper. Sighhh...my poor dd still say that I am "the best mama she ever had". What a sweet little piglet I have. She says things like "you are a good cook", "you are the best", "such a nice day", "that is the best lunch/dinner I ever had and thank you mama". She makes me feel so guilty when she says things like this. I screwed up all the time but yet she thinks I am the best I learn a lot from her attitude because she doesn't take things or anyone for granted. She thinks that everyone and everything is the best! No just good but the best!! She taught me to see things thru her eyes and that everything is beautiful. One day we were at the neighbor's pool and she said she wanted to go swimming. I took her to the basement to use the 1/3 finished bathroom with only a usable toilet and a sink that hasn't be plucked in yet. The basement is totally unfinished except you can see a toilet there...lol. She looked at my neighbor's toilet and commented, "wow, what a beautiful toilet and then I like the machine (tools) table over there" LOL. I told my neighbor that she need not finish her toilet or basement as my daughter thinks that her toiler is purrrrrfect!! LOL.

On to some replies :

MONET : I am sorry for your weight gain. I know 16 lbs sounds very discouraging but it could be worst if you are not on SB right? {{{hugs}}} Where is Oriental Pearl? Is it in Buford Highway as well? I have been to First China as a friend took us there. Not bad at all. I remember they have a special crab dish which was messy but good. I love Dim sum and used to pig out whenever we had it. I love the shrimps dim sum better than the pork and beef ones and I LOVE the glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf, oh so good. That is really high for me now but if I am there, I will definitely have a bite...lol. Hmmm...all these food conversations are making me hungry and homesick...lol.

ROSALIE : I really need to clean my whole fridge not just my freezer. Now, did I tell you my whole house as well??? LOL. Gosh, those cleaning will never be done

MONET : Sounds like you had a great day today. I loved lazy days...those days ahhh...lol.

TEENSY : 2 days to yourself sounds heavenly. I agree as much as I love dh, I do treasure an ocassional days when he is away.

SEF : I am glad the phone call brought good news instead of bad news. My family is a strange family of its own...just in a different way

Alright, got to check on daddy and Jess. The room sounds quiet except that I heard dh's snoring...lol. I better go wake him up so he can come sleep on his own bed

Night all.

I took a long nap this afternoon, and just nibbled. I made scrambled eggs with cheese, and low fat sausage for breakfast, with a piece of cinnamon toast. Lunch was a piece of bread with salami, and a cuke. Dinner was at the Chinese restaurant a group from church likes. We always go out to dinner after church. I had chicken wings, sizzling rice soup, and moo shu beef. None of that was particularly legal! Tomorrow, I am going to start doing Atkins induction again to get the insulin levels down and get rid of cravings. Of course, I will probably have to cave, due to what I am fixing for my daughters belated birthday dinner tomorrow night: Pon Pon chicken (chicken in a peanut sauce) hot and sour soup, Lion's Head (pork meatballs with nappa cabbage) and spring rolls. I will make about 50 spring rolls and they will eat them all! Pigs! ink:

I need to go fill the vitamin cases for the week! Sweet dreams!
