"walkin away the pounds"

I got up and did the 1mile easy walk. I was afraid after soooo many months I wouldn't be able to, but did better than expected. Maybe 2miles tomorrow.

Oh yeah! Debelli, when do you sleep?

Monday: 3.25 miles elliptical trainer(approx 50 mins)
Strength training circuit and 7 off-circuit machines

DonnaD 02-16-2004 11:24 AM

Holy moly, do I feel lazy now!

heartmom 02-16-2004 12:22 PM

Monday- I ended up doing my "own" workout. I did 45 minutes cardio(mixed walking aerobics in with the step), 5 minutes cool down, and 10 minutes or so with my 8 pound weights, then 5 minutes situps.

heartmom 02-16-2004 12:28 PM

Donna- don't feel lazy! You have to build your endurance over time. You can't just do 3 miles after being sedentary for awhile. You'll make yourself so sore you won't ever do it again, lol. Start at the 1 mile and build your way up to the 2 mile. Keep it there until you feel comfortable enough to add more. It takes time to build endurance. When I first started exercising, I did the 1 mile for a few days then I went to the 2 mile tape and stayed there for a couple of months before I attempted doing the 3rd mile tape. Then for several months after that, I would alternate between the 2 tapes. The 2nd mile is a very good workout. I just found out that there is a 4 mile tape, so I got it a couple weeks ago. I alternate with it also. Some days I do the 3 mile, other days I do my "own" workout, and then sometimes the 4 mile tape. I like having the variety so that you don't get bored with it and your muscles don't get too used to it either.

Thanks for the encouragie words Laurie. I think I'll take your advise. It makes perfect sense. If I push to hard I probably will get sore and skip days and that's all it takes to break a good habit

why is it so hard to start a good habit and so easy to break it.

CountryMom4Him 02-16-2004 05:15 PM

Woo hoo

Awesome weather outside so I called my old friend Lawana and was able to get in 4 miles.

Donna...WTG on doing the tape. Like Laurie said it takes time to build up staminia. And as Leslie says on one of my tapes...you got off that couch.. :) AWESOME!

Laurie...you go exercise woman!!!!!! Maybe if I could get as motivated as you as these Christmas pounds would start to come off.

Everybody who's up and moving keep up the good work.

Love and hugs,
Crystle

Donna when I started WATP I did 1 mile every day (except weekends) for about 2 weeks. Then I moved up to the 2 mile and I've been doing that for a couple weeks now.
It's not how far you go, its how constant you are! If you start dreading your walk you won't do it.

Monday WATP 2 mile

Tuesday
WATP 2 mile

Teensybean 02-17-2004 05:59 PM

Monday-- 10 minutes stretches, 35 minutes lower body, TBT.

Tuesday-- 10 minutes stretches, 35 minutes upper body, TBT.

heartmom 02-17-2004 10:03 PM

Colleen- does TBT stand for total body training?

Tuesday- exercise class. step workout and some weights and abs, leg lifts. Class was an hour long from start to finish. I normally do my workout in the morning on the day I go to class, so that I get 2 workouts for that day. I didn't have time today.

Back into the swing of things....and it feels gooooood!

Gym: 5 minutes eliptical, upper body workout, 30 minutes treadmill.

I haven't worked out in a full week, and I could feel it; I felt weaker than normal.

I hope to get in 2-3 more days this week.
