Was wondering...I live in Canada and was trying to find a suitable bread to have. I have been eating dempster's 100% ww with 1.9 g sugars/serving and 4 or 5 g fibre. Would this be a suitable bread? Sugars are listed in the ingredients but I am confused

Welcome to another Canuck!!!!

I don't usually eat bread, except maybe some fresh made sour dough or whole wheat that I make myself. I do use whole wheat tortillas and whole wheat pitas. Sorry I can't remember the brands right now and I don't have any in the house to check the brand. What are the other ingredients in the bread? Is there ENRICHED wheat flour? If so, it's probably not legal. Enriched just means that it's white flour they've put the vitamins back into.

Oh wait! I just found some pita bread in the freezer. It's Mr Pita brand. Ingredients are: 100% whole wheat flour, water, yeast and a preservative called calcium propionate. They're made in Canada.

Thanks for getting back to me. The bread I have is 100% ww flour but has glucose-fructose-sugar listed. It has 1.9 g of sugars per 2 slices. Anyway it is nice to hear from some in Canada.

This site helped me out a lot a couple of years ago and I still go back and look at it once in a while. I know we can't get some of the food up here, but it still may help you.

The bread is under the 3 gram of sugar rule. some people won't touch anything with sugar in it and others will follow the rule of under 3 grams of sugar. The two slices would be 2 servings.

What types of things do you like to eat? Maybe I can try to help you out with brands that I've found to be legal.
