Help!
HELP! I started Sugar Busters, read the book, got other books from library like Brennans cook book, and a book on how to be successful on low carb diets....I understand that Sugar Busters is not low carb, but information about SB was included in this book.
I am a WW veteran of more years than I care to admit. I am continuing to attend WW and do SB. I went to weigh in on Monday and lost 4 pounds, the most I have ever lost...excited just barely describes how I felt. Two days later, right back where I started. I am being very careful...doing the right things, but I find that my weight is fluctuating throughout the day by as many as 6 pounds. I even had to not eat anything to maintain my morninig weight on Monday so that when I weighed in on Monday evening, my 4 pound loss showed up. I am getting very frustrated, I can't continue to not eat on weigh in day and then have gained it back over and over. Has anyone had this experience, what should I do. I really thought I had finally found something that works, but now I'm not so sure and I am ready to give up. PLEASE HELP! |
What you're probably gaining is water weight gain. Thats why I like to weigh 1st thing in the morning on my Wednesdays. Maybe you need to have a scale at home and weigh first thing in the morning on your weigh in day and you'll get a pattern of true weight. I can gain as much as 5 or 6 lbs. durning the day and then the next morning it will be off..

AGAIN, WELCOME TO THE BOARDS. You are doing two of the healthiest ways of eating. Combining SB & WW is great and there's a few people on the board who've done this or who are doing it. For those who don't like to journal doing WW with the points but following SB RULES has done well for them.
I am totally scale obsessed so I know what it's like to hop on the scale and see such fluctuations during the day. BUT, you have to realize that your weight will fluctuate greatly throughout the day and that you're going to weigh less in the morning. There's too many factors that can make you be higher on the scale during any given moment. If you're constipated, you could be up 2lbs, water weight, 2lbs, or more, hormones, a few pounds, plain ol eating can even put you up. I've eaten an Asian pear that was close to a pound, and if you don't think if I had stepped on the scale afterwards and seen a gain you'd be wrong. Try weighing once a week if you can. I know, it's hard, easier for me to say than do, but if this stresses you out seeing the fluctuations it's better not to weigh daily, not to mention many times throughout the day. For me, on past diets, to give you an idea, I was on WW a few years ao (one of the many times I'd been on it since I was 12yrs old) and I was doing everything 100%, eating right, exercising and I wansn't loosing. I got pissed, at myself and gave up, gaining everything back that I had lost and then some. What I didn't realize, until I started SB was that my body fluctuates. When I started keeping a weight log I could see how my body can go up 5-6 pounds at a time even when I'm OP 100% and exercising 6 days a week-but I knew, if I was patient and just continued doing what I was doing it would come back down and sure enough it did!!! So with that, stick to this WOE and don't give up so easily and you will be greatly rewarded. Please feel free to join us on the regular board if you'd like GOOD LUCK! Debbie |
