Can I just say...
that I love this site!
MOst of you know that I am recovering from my second bout with cancer, 1 year post stem cell transplant already weeee! :carrot: For the longest time I had to be careful of where I went so I didn't catch anyone "germs"- my immune system was practically that of an infant. So I was couped up inside a lot...This site has not only helped me get through some tough boring days, with everyones great posts, sense of humour (some of you are just a hoot!!) and forcing me to think outside the box (I am a contemplator, probably even inside my mom's tummy), but you all have also helped support me in my efforts to lose the weight that I gained during treatment! I just want to say that you are all amazing people! I am soo glad I found this site!:carrot: p.s yes I posted this already but meant to put it here the first time hahaha |
wow fitgal, your story is amazing- how strong you must be, inside and out!! I love this site too, it keeps me going when I feel discouraged. I can't believe how nice everyone is, how encouraging. Even when we disagree, we can still support each other!! :D

I read your story yesterday and am amazed. You should be so proud of all the strength and perseverance you have. I know what cancer is like, not that I had it, but my stepmom had a brain tumor which turned cancerous in 2003. She had all the chemo she could handle and after 2 surgeries, her body was unable to handle anymore and she had an anuerism and was brain dead on Xmas 2004. My father took her off the machines 2 days later.
Currently, my mother's girlfriend has cancer. She has been going for chemo as well, and so far, she's looking better. A victory over cancer is a huge accomplishment. I wish you all the best and am always so happy to hear someone overcome this terrible illness. |
fitgal, i am a one year cervical cancer survivor. its amzing how having dealt with cancer makes us more determined to deal with the weight loss thing isnt it?

so sorry to hear about your stepmom! I hope you are holding up OK, I don't think anyone ever gets over a loss like that-cope yes but never "over" it. I hope you mom's friend is doing ok...I tell my story to as many people for that very reason, to show other patients that it can be beaten...the more people that know the better becuase w all know (or soon will know) someone fighting the disease. The more people talk about those who have survived the more strength those fighting Cancer draw from each story. All too often we cancer pateints are given negative stats...how do you fight when all you hear is bad things? |

Ya :cheer: congrat on the 1 year!! did you celebrate? what did u do? I think I have gain so much determination that I don't give up an anything now, sometimes I am a pain in the arse!!! hahaha |
no didnt celebrate but not a day goes back i dont look back and remember what i went thru and people i met who didnt make it and thank the Lord for my being lucky to have this thing beaten.:)
|
So glad you're feeling well now. I hope you know that you've been an inspiration to me many times. When I feel "down" about the whole weightloss thing I remember all the people here, and how so many of you have had to face much bigger challenges than I have, and that really helps me pull through some days. Thank you.

yay :cheer: gald that I (and we) can help!!!
