WHAT am I doing RIGHT ??

  • I never thought I’d be asking this .. but alas here I am.
I’ve been ‘watching’ what I eat and making “small” changes since Feb 2 – I started exercising just after Valentines (only walking on treadmill) – and have slowly increased my time/speed up to 60 mins @ 3.3mph (I will now do 20-30 mins in the AM and 60 mins in the evening – a little over 5 miles).

I take “days off” from exercising, some days I only do 1 session, some days I do none.

I’ve made small changes in my diet (whole wheat vs white, gave up fast food, gave up soda/pop) – but I still only eat Caesar salads (with grilled chicken) – we still eat out often (of course my choices are much “healthier” – but it’s still restaurant food).

Even with just these “small” changes – I’m losing weight consistently – as of this morning I’ve lost 15lbs – in 2 months. Some days I won’t lose anything .. some days I’ll lose an ounce or two – but it all averages out to about 1.5-2lbs / week.

I know I’ve said I want to lose it ‘faster’ (and I still do ) – but it almost seems like I would have to “work” at it to lose it faster and right now it’s just “coming off” without me making any drastic changes.

Is anyone else “surprised” what a huge difference just a few little changes can make ? What are YOU doing "right" ?
  • I actually stopped staring at my treadmill for the past year and started walking consistently on it atleast 5-6 times a week for a minimum of 65 minutes. Since I started three weeks ago, I've probably had something from Wendy's/McDonald's/Burger King probably about 3 times which is a big improvement from EVERY DAY. I was a little disappointed that I only lost 7.5lbs in those three weeks, but I realized in 2.5 more pounds (hopefully off by next week Thursday) it'll be a 10lb lost in a month which is just fine with me. I haven't made any drastic changes.. just actually GOING to the supermarket and buying stuff that I can eat during the day and isn't incredibly high in calories. I also gave up juices and sodas and only drink water when I'm thirsty. I thought that would be hard, but to me it's really not. So far calorie counting's working for me, and actually spending an hour on the treadmill instead of watching tv has too
  • not having an "all or nothing" attitude. I let myself have treats in moderation, and if I have a bad day, I just pick myself up and keep going the next.
  • I agree with JUDES26. It just seems so...without "limit" so to speak.
  • I finally got myself a nutrionist and wishing I did it sooner - huge difference in what I eat, how I feel, and my energy level plus I am loosing the weight (FINALLY).
