For those of us who are making healthy eating a lifestyle and we tell ourselves that somehow if we don't make sure our children eat junk at some point then we are "depriving" them of something, here is an NSV for you.
When I eat healthier, my daughter eats healthier. So imagine my surprise (and joy!) when I am sitting here eating a cut up apple and she runs over to me screaming "Cookie!" and is happily snatching apple slices off my plate. Believe me, she knows what a cookie is (she's 2 and a half) but to her the apple is just as yummy and probably satisfying as a cookie. Does my heart good I tell ya. It's gotten that I have to cut the apple pretty thin so she feels she is eating more because she starts whining if it finishes too fast.
