Another Victory Over My Old Nemesis, Ice Cream

  • I've been working at a new job for the past couple of weeks. This afternoon, they told me and the other newbies to report to the lunch room to have our photo IDs made. One of the other sections was on break in the lunchroom when we showed up. Lo and behold, this section was serving ice cream to its members in honor of someone's birthday, and they had about five different flavors available, and whipped cream. They were polite enough to offer some to those of us waiting to be photographed. All the other newbies decided to accept some, so there I sat, surrounded by people enjoying their ice-cream.

The only thing that enabled me to hold out was knowing I could come here and report it as a victory.

I felt a bit under siege, but it's okay, because I resisted. It wasn't so long ago that I'd have considered it an opportunity not to be missed. I'm so satisfied with my decision. I'm in charge of what I eat, and I won't behave like a victim of circumstances.
  • Way to go! Sounds like you have empowered yourself by not giving in. Congratulations and keep doing it one day at a time!

  • That rocks! I did the same thing today at a business meeting, fresh doughnuts they had, I said no even after everyone convinced me that I could go to our gym here and work off the calories during lunch.
  • wow, i'm going to bury that story in my head. Your words really inspire me.
  • That's fantastic, Margarita! So glad you were able to resist and made the CHOICE to do what is right when you wanted to give in!! Yay!! I know what you mean about being able to resist at time so you can come here and report your NSV!!! Yayaaaaya for you!
  • Congrats to you! It's tough holding out when everyone else is eating! Yesterday afternoon my creative writing professor brought cookies for everyone, and I didn't want to be the only one who didn't take one. So I took one, stuck it in my bookbag, and gave it to my roomie when I got home. on resisting the ice cream!

I'm going to commit it to memory.

Congrats! I did the same thing recently. My company gave out special wrapped cookies with our company logo on them as a treat... I took mine to my friend.
