Down 3 pounds! It's about time, too. :twirly:

Less of Lena 03-02-2006 11:00 PM

Hooray! Now, let's hope no one finds them!

Liliann 03-03-2006 07:55 AM

:bravo: on your 3 Lbs loss!! Keep up the good work!

Misti in Seattle 03-03-2006 08:02 AM

LOL Lena... I have often wondered where all that fat GOES when we lost it! Your comments remind me of what my brother always says... If I tell him I have lost weight he says... "Have you looked behind you lately? I found it." <G>

Haha Dance, funny!

Actually, I remember reading somewhere that some of the "lost" weight gets... um... flushed. Literally. A lot of it also gets breathed out. So, when you're at the gym and someone is huffing and puffing heavily next to you, just think -- you could be inhailing her old, discarded fat... ewwwwww!

I'm going to have to go research that -- things like this intrigue me!

dalai_lala 03-03-2006 09:47 AM

Congratulations!

Thanks guys! Although yesterday was the first day of my spring break, so I have to be extra careful to not get out of control... anyway, it's good for now!

Ewwwwwwwwwww! :chin: Maybe that's why some people have trouble losing weight even though they go to the gym a lot. Stop breathing people! You're inhaling other people's fat! :dizzy:

My mom says all the fat I lose goes right to her hips. LOL She happened to gain a bit while I was losing. lol I'm like hey! Don't blame me! She's losing now too...hopefully her lost pounds won't find me :crossed:

Oh! Edited to add...Congrats on the weight loss maegdaeien! lol *joins all the people clapping in your avie* Got sidetracked by all the floating fat in the air. :dizzy:

aerotigergirl 03-03-2006 03:55 PM

I always like to think of it not as "losing" weight... because I know EXACTLY where I put it--on the gym floor. Rather I prefer to consider it "discarding" weight. :)

ArtsyGirl 03-03-2006 05:08 PM

HOORAY!!! What a way to start off a weekend. Have fun and stay good.

Sassy8877 03-03-2006 06:35 PM

LOL that is good because that is where I always THINK of it as going when I flush!! :) And ewwwwwwww is right about inhaling old discarded fat... LOL... did you HAVE to say THAT? <G>

Sassy... welcome to 3FC! I look forward to seeing more of you as YOU see less of you! :)

Hey Jude 03-04-2006 11:06 AM

futuresurferchick 03-04-2006 11:23 AM

Wow that's really interesting (and gross) about the flushed and breathed fat...... lol... but I guess I don't really care as long as it leaves me!

maegdaeien, way to go!!!!!

pimpishboo 03-04-2006 11:57 AM

Misti in Seattle 03-04-2006 05:53 PM

shawnamadonna1013 03-04-2006 10:11 PM

oh, i know this one!!

Woohoo. :carrot: I have a BS in biology and now it's finally good for something! When you lose weight, the little fat molecules are broken down into smaller molecules which go through several cycles to make energy. The byproducts of this are carbon dioxide and water, so yes, you are breathing it out and peeing it out.

Well I don't mind the peeing it out... or if it is ME breathing it out... but you mean if we are close to someone working out we really ARE breathing IN the grubby little fat cells and crud they are breathing OUT? Plus we not only have to LOSE those fat molecules but first we have to BEAT them to death!!??

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :rollpin:

Sooooo... serious question here... where does all the water we are supposed to drink fit into this? Does it help break them down?

shawnamadonna1013 03-04-2006 11:47 PM

You know, I really dont know exactly why we need to drink lots of water, but here's my best guess: Our bodies have several compartments: in the cells, out of the cells, and in the blood. These compartments have to constantly readjust to keep concentrations equal whenever we drink something. You have to think about salt, acids and bases, sugar, and all kinds of stuff that our bodies like to have at a certain level. When you add lots of water, levels drop and you need to readjust. This keeps our cells and especially our kidneys always trying to regulate the levels of these things. All of this regulating often requires energy in order to pump salt, etc here and there. You add more water, you need to adjust more and you need more energy to do this. Energy comes from burning fat. woohoo! So water is actually helping to keep our bodies and metabolisms on their toes.

Thanks for the explanation! Works for me!! :)
