My first NSV post - I can reach my ankles!

  • I started a stretching routine about a month ago (correct stretching, from Bob Anderson's "Stretching" book, not just something I made up), thinking it would help with post-exercise soreness, but not have much effect otherwise. When I started with the thigh stretch (where you sit on the floor, tuck one leg in, and reach for your ankle with both hands) I could get my grip to an inch or so above my ankle. As of yesterday I noticed that my grip is now actually touching my ankle. And the groin stretch too, before I could only grip my toes, now I can reach just past my toes. Yay!

  • That's fantastic, Lala! Hooray!!!

Love your signature line, by the way. Makes me smile every time I see it
  • Congratulations!
  • That is absolutely fantastic!

You also now have me lemming for that book.
  • Wow, great news My daughter and little sister are in cheerleading together. They are both working hard to gain flexibility to do the splits. I use to be a dancer myself and thought I could show them a few pointers on how to do it. I was so sad that I cannot even reach my toes these days. So I have now set a goal of being able to reach them soon - this post was just the motivation I needed! Thanks for sharing
  • that's awesome news!!! i've decided to try to stretch every evening while i watch tv in my room. i too want to get more flexible. i am sooooo not able to move my legs like i used to. so everynight i have to check off a box that says i stretched....mostly my legs.
