I am beginning to see success

  • Hello All!
I have been postponing my post for quite awhile as I wanted to be sure I was well on my way and making continual improvements before sharing my success. Well, I finally feel I have reached a point where I can contribute a small success story to this thread. I have been very focused and determined since starting this journey on the 20th of September. I am faithfully exercising 5 -6 days a week and have dropped a total of 30lbs from my high of 215.... (was 206) on Sept 20th. I am now 183 and continuing downward. My most significant improvement is that I have ventured on my husband's advice to add treadmill walk/jog to my routine. Tonight I ran/walked 3 miles (5km) in 47.00 min. Not a spectacular time, I know, but I did it!!! This time included about 5 minutes of a warm up at a slower pace. My goal is to one day complete 5 km in under 35 minutes. I feel I may be able to achieve this if I keep on trying to better myself and don't give up. I am also seeing a personal trainer 2 x's a week to work on my upper body strength for those pushups the military will require of me! I feel as if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and one day perhaps by the summer, I will finally meet my goal of being a member of the Canadian Forces. I feel it is attainable and every day I will continue to take the steps needed to get to my goal. I have never been this successful before, and I feel it can only get better!!! Now if only my run time could improve to a point where I enjoy running and don't feel like I am going to keel over when I do it ... That would be a real Achievement!!! Thanks for believing in me and supporting me and reminding me I had it in me to reach my goals. You are a remarkable community who embraces anyone and I appreciate all the support, advice and comments each person has given me.
    Onward and UPward.....
    Marie

That's great Marie! I wish I had more motivation. It's a tough journey and it sounds like you are well on your way! I was in the Army Reserves 10 yrs ago and met my hubby at CFB Gagetown We were both in our prime then - oh the good 'ol days. I am trying to get back to that level of fitness too. Good Luck with the military. If anyone can get a person into shape, they can
