I've lost an ENTIRE dog! :-)

  • Okay, so I hope I'm not breaking some kind of rule by starting two "Success Stories" threads in one day! But I just have to share this...

I weighed in today with a 2 lb loss, bringing my TOTAL loss to 43 lbs. Which -- ironically -- is how much Kippy my beloved Bassador (Basset/Lab mix) weighs.

Here's what 43 lbs looks like!

Anyone else have comparisons like this to share? I think WW does the "bags of sugar" thing, but it's kinda fun to come up with your own comparison, too.
  • I unfortunately don't have anything to compare...yet! But I love your dog. He's the cutest thing ever!! Congrats on your success too!
  • your Bassador is a crazy mixed up thing - but so cute too!

I was just wracking my brains to think of stuff that weighed around 50lbs, then i realised that's how much I squat So I can squat the weight I lost, which ironically must mean that I'm weaker now than when I was heavy, cos I'm sure I couldda done 30 unweighted squats then... Well maybe...
  • My Hershey weighs 50 pounds and Lucy is 40 so I have a way to go before I lose a dog! Great comparison though!
  • That's great, congratulations! I remember, at one point during my weight loss, my husband teasingly saying that I had lost a Backstreet Boy! And here is a pic that was taken in Chicago when I met up with a few other 3fc'ers, demonstrating what my then 170-180 lb. weight loss looked like. What a blast! Thanks for starting this thread, it's a fantastic way to really put it all in perspective.

  • Congrats on your weight loss...maybe we can start a dog lovers group and measure our loss to dog weight!
  • oh bev I can't see your pic - but I like it in terms of backstreet boys!

LOL Corsica! I still have an entire CAT to lose (my 1-year-old "kitten" is 7 lbs) . Love your dog by the way -- I grew up with Goldens .

2Frustrated...Kippy IS a crazy-mixed up thing -- that's why I adopted/rescued him . He's probably the strangest looking dog I've ever seen and quite the conversation-starter when I'm out walking the dogs.
  • Oh yeah I still have a cat to lose... Although my ginger tom is 14lbs!
  • Great thread! I, too, have lost a dog! We have a somewhat overweight pug who weighs about 25 pounds, and the other day I got on the scale with him (you can do that with pugs, they're small!) and saw my starting weight! Sometimes when I pick him up I am just amazed that I used to tote around that much weight!

Of course, there's a lot more to go. Now I'm taking aim on the puppy, though he weighs about 10 pounds now, he's a moving target. It will be a while before I can say I've lost both our pugs.
  • Hmmm...Don't think this would work for me. I have a 140 lb St. Bernard. My goal is to actually have my dog weigh more than me! Which shouldn't be too hard because he is still growing.
  • hehehe I've lost my dog about 3 times... or a tall cheerleader

That is so funny!!! "Don't think this would work for me..." hee hee hee

PLEASE DON'T LOSE AN ENTIRE ST. BERNARD!!! We'd miss you if you went *poof* and disappeared altogether.
  • That isn't a picture of my dog,but it looks exactly like her! Goldens are nuts...very needy.Never met a Basset...they seem nice. I usually think of wt loss in terms of food (big surprise) So far this go around I have lost 3 lbs of butter.
