I'm in at 225 as of 7/2, no loss or gain for the past month.

Although it's really frustrating to not see weight loss, considering what I went through this past month I was just happy NOT to see weight gain! Three-ish weeks ago, I leveled up my exercise program too fast - I added a new calisthetic aerobic workout and noticed a sharp funny pain on the front sides of both my shins. (uh-oh).

I immediately took a week off from exercising to rest up and allow swelling to go down. During that rest week, my knees both started hurting as well. :o

I started exercising again two weeks ago, but at a MUCH slower / lower level (ie. swimming, brisk walking 2 miles as oppose to super-advanced Tae-Bo kickboxing - which I LOVE :( )

I just started to slooooowly add back very light jogging while doing my laps - as well as doing a pilates workout that focuses on the back and abs.

As it turns out, I was REALLY lucky. I stopped when I felt pain, and a few good workout buddies convinced me to step away from my routine to let myself heal (I did WAY overeat that first week, mostly from depression).
I did some research on shin splints and other pains - and am adding focused extended stretching (pre AND post exercise) as well as some MUCH needed pricy supportive footwear. :o How many others out there are guilty of being chinzy to your feet?

My father had a similar experience a few years ago, leveling up his shoulder press weights too fast. But, he kept on self-medicating with painkillers and working through the pain. When he finally went to a doc, it was too late. He has done extreme permanent damage to the tendon in his shoulder, it causes him constant intense pain daily (even with light / limited use).

It just goes to show, we all need to listen to our bodies. The longer we pretend not to hear it, the longer we'll have to deal with the recovery.

PS - I have noticed that in the past few 'wimpy-workout' weeks that my fat composition is changing. I attribute this to the new workouts, because they are very different to what I have done before. Now, my workout goals include returning to my former workout intensity, plus adding weight lifting AND (eventually) jogging/running. I will be biking by the end of the month, as the fiance is getting me a nifty new bike for my b-day. :D
