What type of scale is most accurate
Okay ladies I need your help, which is the better scale to weigh in on at home? I use a dial scale but it weighs me at least 10lbs lighter than a digital scale.
What kind of scale is the most accurate, please name brands and where I can get one as well if you dont mind. Also what type of scale are you ladies weighing at home on?? |
I'm not sure any one has been proven to be effective more than any other. Sadly, that extra weight at the doc's office is probably real since most medical offices are required to calibrate their scales regularly. Unless you are real close to your goal weight, I'd consider that just any scale that seems like it is staying consistent with itself, and also inspires you to lose, is fine. The total weight loss overall will be first and foremost what you are looking at, and as you get closer you can try to weigh at a doctor's office, or gym(which I believe also calibrate) to know where you are really at, or maybe once there at the beginning. Hope that helps!

I use a dial scale that I bought at the salvation army thift shop (no idea how old it is) . . . It weighs me about six pounds lighter than the digital scale at my doctor's office, but it's not a real medical center, it's the university health services, so I doubt that their scale is any more accurate than a cheap off-the-shelf digital scale. That and they weighed me in the middle of the day with all my clothes (and shoes) on, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was almost six pounds heavier then.

I have the Weight watchers scale. I like it!! I got it at Wal-Mart for $25.00! If you weigh once a week or month at the same time of day is the best bet it will be most accurate no matter what scale you use!

My scale at home is a Taylor lithium digital. I get the same reading on that scale as I do from the gym's balance scale. So both of those scales are either accurate or wrong! LOL.
I have heard that the Tanita brand is a good one, but it may be expensive. |
Like Gladdy, I also use the Taylor Lithium digital scale (bought it at target between $22-$25? I can't remember exactly). I think it's pretty accurate because I put my two 8 lb dumb bells on it and it came out to be 16 lbs! It was my own little personal test for the scale, but that was enough to please me!

i have a digital scale at home and im 8lbs heavier when i weigh in at weight watchers lol ... i like my scale, makes me feel better lol

Your home scale may not be accurate when compared to the doctor's scale, but regardless of that, you can still use it to track your progress. If you weighed 175 on your home scale last month and you weigh 170 this month....that's progress regardless of what the doctor's scale says, right?

Tanita with fat measurement. That is how I look if I actually loose muscle or fat. Cost Can 69$ in LinensNThings.
While fat measurement it shows is about 2% higher than in the gym I go to, it is ALWAYS 2% more than there (did about 10 measurements so far at the gym). I am always aware when fat starts creeping back... |
Hey, Well, the digital scale is 6 pounds more than my ( regular) scale..
digital scale says 150 and then the regular scale says 144.. i so wished that the regular scale was right, but its not.. i keep my hopes up for the regular scale to be right, but the thing is,, i know that the digital is right.. oh well, all that matters is that we lost..huh? Tru Luvin |
For me, I use Tanita with fat measurement (model BF-681), the increment is 0.2 lb. and it can be weight in kilograms too. This scale make me heavier than the previous digital scale I used but I think that's one wasn't accurate at all, so I throw away the old one and bought this one last Thanksgiving, it costs me $53 from Tuesday Morning.

Just for the record, I tried testing my dial scale by putting 5-lb dumbbells on it, and it looks like it works just fine! :)

Thanks Ladies
Thank you for all giving me your input. I am going to get a digital and the that sells at Target. I agree that regardless of which is 100% accurate and loss is still a loss. Glad you pointed that out cause I wasnt thinking of it like that. I have no idea where my weight is now so I really want to get that scale, anxious to see where I am!

I have a health o meter weight monitoring scale and i love it .. lol well some days i dont! but it tracks your weight loss and u can set a goal on it and also save up to 4 peoples info on it.. it was @ 35 at target

I also use the Taylor Lithium Digital and it seems to be accurate, matches my docs. I used to have a regular old scale and like yourself, it weighed me 10 pounds less, no matter how I messed with it and set it. It was about 25 at Meijers.
