The last 4 years have been a real change for me. At age 41 I found myself 25 pounds heavier than I wanted, not in good shape, and frustrated in general. For some unknown reason, my motivation for change deepened, and I decided it was now or never. I have a good friend that is a runner, and she gently and kindly got me started. Slow and easy did the trick. I've never in my life been able to run any distance at all, but she got me out there. One year later I was 20 pounds lighter and ran in several small races. The next year we ran a 1/2 marathon, and have done many, many small races since. I don't run for speed, just for the feeling of accomplishment. I feel stronger than when I was 30, enjoy my daily life much more, and have more self confidence. I'm still a little heavier than I'd like, but it's ok because I know I'm strong, healthy, and able. I tell anyone who asks how I did it that for me the old standby, " eat less and exercise more" did the trick. I also make much healthier choices now that I see success. It's like a self fulfilling prophecy! So, If you are on the fence, unsure what to do, I say just walk out the door and start. It will work. If I can do it, anyone can.

Congratulations on you lifestyle change! Isn't it amazing how everyone wants to know your "trick", your secret to weightloss? For me, my "trick" has been Weight Watchers- but it's hardly a trick! Eat less, move more.... that's the only way to create lasting results.
