hey! thanks again! well i started to diet in like january of this year. when i started out i was 132 pounds. and now that it is july i weigh 112. well this is what i ate...

breakfast...a bran muffin

lunch...a salad with a yougurt (fat free dressing)

dinner...a big salad with some chicken or fish

snacks...a piece of fruit of some nuts

i know it might sound boring but it works.

i also excercised this what i did...

30 minutes on my bike
50 sit ups
100 crunches
25 lunges
25 squats

thats pretty much it.

do u have some sort of diet plan that you are on? it helps if you do.

Hi kaiti!

I am not sure if you mentioned, but how tall are you? You must look just amazing now...do you feel very thin? It just sounds so skinny!! I honestly couldn't imagine being 112 lbs. How hard is it to stick to such a rigid diet? What keeps you motivated? Have you ever just binged? So proud of you!!!

hey! im about 5 feet and 4 inches. i dont think i look great...well i look better than i did! i thought by now i would have a flat tummy and skinny thighs...and i dont. i dont feel very thin either. its pretty hard to stick to the kind of diet i have been on. well what kept me modiavted was this...i got a big poster board and a magazine filled with different people. i cut out all the skinny people out of the magazine and pasted them on the poster board. i put the poster board on the door with all the snacks in it. everytime i would try to go get something to snack on i would look at the poster and say to myself...do you want to be skinny or not? thats what kept me modivated. i have a question...what does binged mean? thats pretty sad that i dont know what i mean!
well i hope to hear from you soon!

Hello Kaiti!

Well, consider yourself very very lucky that you don't know what a binge is!!! Because that probably means you don't do it!
The definition of a binge is eating unusually large amounts of food at one time; over eating; eating without perception of hunger; feast
In laymens terms it pretty much just means when you totally lose your willpower and just start eating and eating and feeling a little out of control because you just need food. It usually happens when people diet for awhile because you're body needs the food and takes over - you're like "screw the diet I want FOOD right now" and generally eat a lot more than you normally would, followed by feeling really guilty about it.

As far as your weight for your height, I think you are even borderline underweight but definitely on the low weight range for your height. I know many people lose weight and still don't feel that different although to other people you are skinny to them. Just be a little cautious that once you are down to 110 lbs you don't keep going further because that will get dangerous and unhealthy - definitely not somewhere you want to go.

I can say confidently that I know you must look fabulous and are a gorgeous girl. Be proud of your success and treat yourself well.

I wonder what it would be like to spend a day in the life of someone who has such control over food as yourself. Must be great!

Keep in touch!

Take care,
Cyndy

Congrats kaitikat!!

I think that once you reach your goal, you should incorporate more of the foods that you like to eat, just eat them in moderation. You'll figure out what works for you. Do your friends know that you've lost this weight and/or are things going to be different for you when you go back to school? I wish you the best of luck!

Hey Kaiti...

I was thinking we should be buddies since we have similar goals (except you are basically already there)! I can help you while you maintain and I will be losing weight. It seems we are close in age I think. Might be fun and helpful for both of us! hehe Let me know if you already have a buddy.

3 lbs left

Hello there:)

I am close to my weight goal, only 3 lbs left plus maintenance. I hope I don't pig out 'cause I am so happy. But it's been around 114 for a couple of weeks now so it staggered, but I am eating more like 1500-1700 cals and still exercising. One more step to 110, and we're there::

Current weight: 113
Goal weight: 110

Kaitikat,

I'm really happy that you have lost the weight you wanted to, congradulations! A good way for you to stay at a healthy weight is to get involved with sports at your school, if you're not already. Remember, you are still growing and developing, so you will gain weight, and that is NORMAL. Your belly won't go away just because you dieted. Baby fat on a 13 year old is a real thing, and you will see as you mature that your belly flattens out on it's own :)

Has your doctor been monitoring your weight loss? That is VERY important for a growing girl. You need more calories as a female teenager than any other time in your life! You have a lot of bone, breasts, hips and brain to make, and that takes energy, otherwise known as calories. Start exercising more and eating lots of healthy foods, like oatmeal, fruit, whole wheat bread, lowfat cheese, meat, and veggies, and you won't become overfat, you'll just become YOU! If your worried about getting "fat" again, stay away from junkfood, but don't deprive yourself if you feel hungry, ok?

Again, yay for your success!

hey

You are doing a great job!!! I am just conserned that you havent had you period. I am only 14 but have had it for 2 years and have never gone that long with it. Did you just start it? Because if you have then it wont be regualar for about a year. But if you have had it for some time then I think that you should see a doctor asap. Cuz that could mean that you are in serious lack of nutients such as the things that help produce blood. That is good that you told you mom about it too but I still think you should see a doctor! Good luck with the last two pounds!

hey! thanks. my period did just start in january. so are you saying that it is not because of my weight loss? its just because i just started to have it? my mom did tell her doctor though. thanks for the advice!

hcred123 08-01-2004 06:07 PM

Hey

I have read that during the first year that it does really variy in when it comes but I will still just make a appointment with your doctor just for a check up. There he/she can make sure that you are heathly and that you are getting the right nutients. Even if you are ok, it is a good idea to get a check up once in a while expecely when you are dieting!

you have to stay with exerise programs and try to change way you eat.

for example... replace dountnuts with grapefruit

hey! im going to talk to my mom about getting an appointment with my doctor to see if everythings alright. hope to hear from you soon!

OctoberBride 08-04-2004 11:19 AM

Hi Kaitikat,

I'm glad you are going to make an appointment with your doctor. Your period can be irregular the first year, but since you have been on a rather restrictive low calorie diet, you may very well be lacking in important nutrients, which would cause you not to get your period when you in fact should be! Either way your doctor will be able to MONITOR your weight loss, which is REALLY important for a 13 year old :) Don't forget, most of the women on this board are adults, and our doctors have told us we needed to lose weight for health reasons. Even though people don't talk about it in the forums, they go to their regular doctors or specialists like dieticians, who monitor their rate of weight loss to make sure that it is *healthy* weight loss.

Hi kaitikat! Good job on your weight loss! I think my period vacillated a lot during the first year or two, I also started around 12 or 13 (12 I think), but it wasn't until late 13 that it became regular. It's normal. On the other hand, if you have regular periods and then start skipping after entering a rigid diet, it may be amenorrhea due to weight loss (3 periods skipped), but it's not your case; for some, primary amenorrhea occurs - that is when the period does not start at all, not your case either. So, you've got nothing to worry about! I am sure your physician would be of more help at an annual exam, but I asked my friends, they had some similar things when they were at that phase.

Your diet looks balanced to me, so if you're eating around 1200+, that should be okay. I wonder if you're getting enough proteins (meat, fish, you mentioned nuts) and calcium (e.g. from dairy products), I hope so. good luck!

second that on the doughnuts lol I love them! but I eat apples instead.
good luck with your weight loss! i was just wondering, you want to be around 100-110. how tall are you?

MissyK 08-06-2004 02:57 AM

Hi!
I'm 18, and only 5"2 tall. I WAS 120lbs, just a few months ago. Now I'm about 113lbs, for a loss of 7lbs! But that's not enough, because before I put on the weight, I was 98lbs! I don't expect to be that weight again, but I'd like to weigh 105lbs. That's reasonable, isn't it? Well, since we have similar goals, I was wondering if we could be weight loss buddies! You seem to really know what you're doing!

Hi and congrats! I am at 110 lbs. now (with a huge part of August left before classes start, so I am overjoyed with reaching this weight ahead of time) and I haven't felt better about myself in a while. I will keep exercising, and I am sliding into maintenance plan diet-wise. Good luck to you with your weight loss!

Hi Kaiti! Sorry I haven't written in awhile, i've been outta town!

Anyways, its so awesome to see this thread grow so big! You along with Carito and MissyK are all doing such a wonderful job and the three of you are my inspiration! It seems like we are all younger in age (well, I am 21 soon) but I guess I feel the connection because our goals are all very similar (around 110ish lbs).

I have not seriously dieted in a long time. I used to weigh 140 lbs and kinda slowly and naturally went down to 130 lbs which is about where I am at now. I am 5'2 and half...so 110 lbs is where I would like to be.

In the past I could never really get lower than 120 lbs. I just found it so difficult. Could any of you three tell me if you ever had a really hard time and how you got past it? Also, do you feel that maintenance will go?

I am afraid of losing weight only to gain it back. I say that because once you lose weight (especially if its too fast) and you gain it back, it comes back as fat and you have lost muscle which is a calorie burner, therefore you have to eat even less the next time around you want to lose weight. Sorry that mustve been confusing!

I guess I am a little scared of failure :o

Carito and MissyK, how old are you guys? I know that Kaiti is 13. You guys are so great and keep up the awesome work :D

Oh yeah one more thing! Do you guys use MSN Messenger at all? I was thinking than we could discuss more about our eating, goals, motivate each other!! just an idea that may be kinda cool and very powerful for us

hey! my diet is going pretty well. actually i kinda gained weight...like 2 pounds.
oh well...ill just have to get back on my diet...like NOW! haha! one time i had a really hard time with dieting. i just started to eat and eat and eat. i just had to say to myself...do you really want to be skinny or not? and i finally got over it. yes i do have MSN messenger. you can send me your name in a private message and i will send mine to you. talk to you later!

MissyK 08-09-2004 12:49 AM

Wow thanks for replying, Kaitikat! I'm SOO happy you'll be my weight loss buddy! Oh, and to answer your question, Cyndy, I'm 18 years old. yeah, we should TOTALLY be weight loss buddies!

Anyway, how do you guys want this to work? Should we post here, or private message or email? Hmm up to you guys (girls lol)! I might as well tell you a bit about myself.

When I was in 8th to 9th grade, I was clinically overweight, meaning not "chubby" but "too heavy for my health". So I worked on losing it...and finally got to 98lbs! But after a super fun vacation, I put on 8lbs, and then soon after I got a job at Lindt Chocolatiers (you know what happens there). Put on more weight. THEN I tried Atkins and lost all the weight, but went off it...putting on all the weight back AND an additional 10lbs!!! That was also due to depression, though. I ended up being 120lbs, which isn't as bad as my junior high years. So I've been working to get the weight off, and I've lost 7lbs (actually, 8lbs as of recently).

Yay now I'm motivated to continue...I'd love to share my diet, exercise plan, and other stuff...but I"m wondering if I should start a new thread for that instead of taking up KaitiKat's success story post...hehe.

MissyK

kaitikat 08-09-2004 12:20 PM

hey missyk! well i think we should start a new thread cause this thread is gettin a little bit big. you can start a new thread in Buddy Up! you can name it like MissyK, Kaitikat, and Cyndy chat. (does that sound good or what) haha!
hope you will join us cyndy! talk to you later! :)
