Weekend Chat

Happy Mother's Day weekend to all of the mamas out there! It's the most important job there is.

Instead of my weekly run to the grocery store this morning, I'm going to focus on eating leftovers from my freezer for a few days. I'll be headed out of town on Tuesday evening for a couple of days, so there's not much point in shopping until next weekend.

My aunt's funeral yesterday was nice, and most of the family was able to make it. The lunch afterward was full of stories and laughter.

After doing some housework this morning, I'm going to go look at some houses on our local Parade of Homes. I love to go look at them to get ideas for decorating and landscaping.

What's up with y'all this weekend? Have a great one!:carrot:

Ruthxxx 05-13-2006 08:03 AM

Good morning, Jana. I am sorry to hear of your Aunt's death but it sounds as if her funeral was a good one. Stories and laughter make for a good celebration of life.

Hersh and I took it pretty easy yesterday as I still have remnants of my darn cold. This morning it's cold and rainy but I am going to the Greenhouse to help Lorraine deal with the pre-Mother's Day rush. Later today, I'll finish the Church bulletin and stow away my suitcase until the next trip.

What's happening around your towel this Mother's Day weekend?

Barb0522 05-13-2006 08:28 AM

Jana - I used to love to look at homes to get ideas. I'm glad you had your family around you for the funeral. Some days I really miss what family I have left.

Ruth - Rest up and recover from your cold - or come visit us in Dallas where the cold is long gone!

Me - It's a beautiful morning. I'm already in my scout uniform since we are going to the Scout Show today. I'm letting Brian and DH sleep as long as they can. I'm signed up to work for only 3 hours so I'm hoping to see some of the other booths this year. I need to go pack a lunch for myself. They serve nothing healthy there at all and I want to be prepared.

Kelly J 05-13-2006 08:38 AM

Morning Chickies!

Off to yoga for me (Yeah!) then I'm going to try to spend a quiet, productive weekend around the house for me - I hope!

Hope everyone has a great weekend :D

Kiko 05-13-2006 08:41 AM

Ruth Definitely come visit us in Dallas! The weather is gorgeous. :sunny: It looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here.

Barb Enjoy your day at the Scout Show! I was hoping to let my girls sleep as as long as possible..... but that didn't happen!

Jana I am sorry to hear about your aunt, but glad to hear that the service went well.

Me- Last night was DDs first tball game. They are just too cute out there!! Afterwards, 2 of our friends and their kids went to a local pizza place to let the kids eat and play. It was very fun, even with my absence of beer and pizza! I just ordered a little garden salad and enjoyed the company. We have another game this afternoon followed by a cookout at a friend's house. I am not sure yet what I am going to bring to stay on plan. I may just eat before we go- I know that they are grilling hotdogs, so will probably have normal picnic fare. (and beer........)

What are everyone's plans for Mother's Day? :flow1: DH has to work as his hotel is having a big brunch, so we will spend the day with my mom. We are going to church with her and then we are planning on something outside as long as it doesn't rain. Maybe the zoo or The Taste of Addison which is a festival where local restaurants se up booths, there are kids activities and lots of outdoor fun. We will see what the day brings- that is the tenative plan.

Okay- I need to pull a grocery list together and plan some meals. :chef: I want to try at least one new recipe this week. I may make it simple and try the SBD Cola Chicken.

Hope everyone has a super day!

Kiko 05-13-2006 08:42 AM

Morning Kelly! Enjoy your "me" time!! :)

smokepole 05-13-2006 09:15 AM

Good morning everyone.

Janna: isn't it true how family can turn a funeral into a celebration of life?
When my children were young they loved to listen to the stories.
They learn about their family that way!!

Barb: I've gone from wanting my children to sleep later to wishing they
would get out of bed and help me!! Seems like they would sleep the
day away!

Ruth: Rain and not feeling well make for a not so nice day. Hope you feel
better soon. Enjoy all the flowers at the green house. Sounds like it
would be fun!!

Kiko: Those kids will sure keep you busy. Hope you have a good time with
your mom and kids. We did the zoo when my kids were young. They always love it.

Kelly: Yoga and "me" time. What a perfect day!!

As for me, The sun is still shining here in central NY. I'm wondering when all that predicted rain is planning on arriving. Not too soon I hope. I want to spread some mulch around. I'm working hard on getting husband to clean and destroy the junk he collects. Very resistive. He might need it!!

For mother's day we are all meeting at my mom's after church for "brunch. Nothing fancy. We actually meet there often. My family are the only active church goers so the rest of them sometimes jump the gun and start without us. Means I get stuck on clean up crew YUK!! My son is still at school, one more final, and my daughter is a labor and delivery nurse and this is her weekend on. Eldest will be here though. That's okay. I have great kids, they are around or at least check in alot. I would rather they be here because they want than be here because someone else determined on Mother's Day you HAVE to be with you mom. Everyday can be Mother's Day!!

I'm still struggling. Although I find SB fairly easy to follow, except I miss my occasional Scotch and water, I am not losing very quickly. Wish my book would come, it may give me some insight on what I'm doing wrong. I've started a chart so I can make sure I'm getting everything in. WE'll see if that makes a difference this week.

Last evening was not the best. Brother in law's 50th bday. Although I tried to stay on plan, some things were not SB friendly. I didn't have the zita, sandwich wraps, cake, hotdogs...I was actually very good. I had shrimp, cheese, turkey kielbasi...small amount of wine. But I was so hungry when we got home I made mock oatmeal. I guess it could have been worse!!

Okay, not getting mulch spread sitting at the computer.

Have a great day.

Hi Ladies:)

 ===HAPPY MOTHERS DAY LADIES===

Its going to be just me and my hubby relaxing on this Mothers Day.

Not going to W-I anymore,as I getting to stressed out going on it. I eatting all the right things and yet the scale's bringing me up further & further away from my goal.

I using a smaller plate for portion control, but it doesn't work.

Some how I believe its the bread/grain carbs that doing it. I watched now for weeks when I don't eat the bread/carbs the scale is down and as soon as I have them the weight goes up. What kind of a well balanced diet doesn't have bread/grain carbs in it. People can't live without the,as Christains know we ask for our daily bread in our prayers.

I don't think I going to worry about dieting anymore, just eat everything in moderation,as I don't want to go nuts anymore about W-I's.

so today this is what I'm having

b-1c GOOD FRIENDS CEREAL,1/2 applesauce,1 c 1 % milk.
sn-V8 and cuke stick
l-chicken PANINI,along with a LG salad with FV.
sn-1apple
d-salad w) dress.Chicken Cordin Bleu,w) BREAD STUFFING,and broccoli
des-1c l/f yogurt

90 oz water============30 mins exercising.

Sorry about whinning:cry:    I guess this yucky rainy weather we're having is causing my mood swings. They're promising heavy rains for the whole weekend.

Hopefully I'll be in a better mood tomorrow to post

Hugs :) BB

morning everyone! I know there's lots of moms on here so I wish you all a happy mothers day. My baby (my kitty, fuzzy) got me a mothers day card. It is so sweet :)

Well last night I missed out on 15 mins of excersize cuz my friends picked me up and we drove 3 hours to the casino! I didn't do so great this time.... oh well I had loads of fun and played poker for like 7 hours. *L*

I weighed in today and have lost 2 more lbs. I really wanted to lose 4 but I guess I can wait an extra week to take of the last two. Fitday says I have to lose about 1.5 lbs a week for the next two weeks and four days to meet my first 10 lb mini goal. That definately seems doable!

:)

Alicia

EDIT: I had a litle scale cheat and I weighed in today and lost another 2 lbs. prolly cuz I couldn't eat much cuz of my sore tooth but I"ll take it anyway I can get it... ;)

Morning/afternoon
I just got back from Curves....a week where I finally made it there 3 times! I'm so glad my training is over! The trainer looked at me on my last day & said "I had fun, but you really didn't need this. You'll be a general manager in no time." What a way to waste 4 weeks, but at least I was "right." It's jeans and t-shirts folks....let's not make it harder than it is!
So at Curves today there was a lady with 4 boobs...2 regular & 2 mini ones.....her bra was too tight & it created mini boobs....get a bra that fits or a bigger t-shirt! It's so much fun to go to Curves & make fun of people (I know I'm a bad person!)
I'm well on my way getting ready for Key West.....I've purchased a whole new wardobe....df is thrilled (not) I'm getting tan & I have plan to get my hair & nails done before I go. Df & I are planning on getting our engagement pic down there...maybe the beach or Earnst Hemingway's house? Who knows? Well I'm off to thaw form chicken & do some laundry!

Hi Chickies, Since everyone seems to be wishing an early Happy Mother's Day today, I want to join in, too - - - :val3: Happy Mother's Day!:val3:

Actually, I am celebrating my Mother's Day later today by taking my mother out to dinner (Jake is paying for both of us!), and my DD and two of my GD's are joining us, so it should be fun! I'm down 2 more lbs. today, but don't want to change my ticker until after the weekend.:) I don't know what we're doing tomorrow as far as what my DS has planned for me, but Jake and I are going out for brunch and then shopping for bedding plants.

Ruthxxx 05-14-2006 08:08 AM

Not quite as perky today, I'm afraid. Luckily my DD and I are not celebrating MD today. We'll do it later when I can be the only grandma for Taylor.

Yesterday I did work at the Greenhouse but came home at 2 and fell into bed for two hours. I had another "nap" from 6:30 to 8! I guess I'l still under the weather.

I'm off to Church shortly with Hershey who is sticking to me like glue! After that, if I feel OK, I may do a bit of gardening if the rain holds off. I definitely am picking asparagus for dinner tonight! Yummy!

I hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day!

Schatzi 05-14-2006 08:18 AM

Happy Mothers Day to all you Mommies!

Not feeling so good the last few days :barf: :headache: .. no need to describe... :( but this chickie is heading back to bed ....with a cuppa tea.....

JanaM 05-14-2006 08:55 AM

 Mornin' everyone.

Barb - How did the Scout Show go?
Kelly - Hope you're having a nice relaxing weekend!
Kiko - Isn't watching kids play Tball fun? My nephews all played a few years back. They just crack me up!
Smoke - Enjoy the brunch at your mom's house.
BeachBum - Hang in there! Keep on doing the right things and your body will catch up!
Lottie - A trip to the casino sounds fun - even if you didn't win any money. :)
Soon - I don't think I told you congrats on making it through the training!!!! At least it's over, and you can move on now.
Cottage - Enjoy your family time!
Ruth & Schatz - Hope you feel better soon!

Not much going on with me today. Went out yesterday and looked at houses for 6 hours straight. It was fun, but I'm paying for it this morning. All of that stair climbing has made my legs soooo sore.

Need to go get ready for church.

SarahinBalance 05-14-2006 11:43 AM

Hey you guys, Yeah I think I have a slight case of the not feeling goods myself... just posted a few Hawaii pics in case anyone was interested in checking them out... We had such an incredible time and it's kind of depressing to be back...

My mom was heading to Houston for Mother's Day but I bowed out and did a little celebrating last Friday with her, and part 2 is on Tuesday... Just really needed some downtime since I had to work all day yesterday and am still totally messed up because of the time difference...

Hope everyone has a great mother's day! Chat with you soon...
