I hope you feel better soon, Weezle, it sounds like you are getting very dehydrated which can be dangerous. Take care!

Pear - The last time I made the Thai Shrimp Soup I chopped the ginger up in the chopper and used extra and it really gave the whole soup a wonderful flavor. I also added sliced mushrooms and lots of chopped scallions in addition to the cilantro. DH likes his food spicier so he adds extra red pepper flakes and hot pepper sauce to his. I like it just the way I described it here. I LOVE ginger. I think it would be good with garlic too. Oh, and I usually use lime peel rather than lime zest. That makes for a stronger lime flavor.

Quickish driveby - sooooo busy...

Less than a month to go in the quarter. Registration is at the end of the month; I'm thinking I'll take pre-calculus, intro to chemistry, and professional report writing. DS will be able to go to daycare more days around the end of the 2nd week of the quarter next quarter, so since these are mostly online classes (chem meets once a week on campus), I think I'll be able to make it until then.

DH took my bday off last week, which was a great present :) The three of us watched movies, and I made a "main-dish antipasto" for dinner: steamed and cooled veggies, chickpeas, and roasted peppers in a vinaigrette, with kalamata olives, albacore tuna, and mozzarella, all on a bed of spring greens. We had some crusty, warm sourdough with it - mmm! :D It was a nice day!

The first of DS's birthday parties (the one for DH's family) was this last Sunday. It went well and everyone had fun. The second party is next Sunday, for my family and for kids.

School is going well - still maintaining straight A's. I just got my first soc paper back, I got a 94/100 on it. Also just got my 2nd geology midterm back - got 107% on it. I've got about a 96% in soc and about 98 or 99% in geology, so not too bad. I'm dead exhausted though!

My folks are going to give me a raised garden bed for my bday, which we'll build during my spring break. Also during my break, I'll be doing "OAQC": Once a Quarter Cooking! It's been soooo nice to have meals in the freezer all these busy nights; I wish I'd done enough for the whole quarter! So that is what I'll do for next quarter--cook up enough food for 4-5 dinners a week (or as much as I can fit in my freezer - now I wish I had gone with a larger one, after all!).

I miss all you chickies! I pop by to skim over the posts whenever I can, but I rarely have time to make more than a quick response here and there. I'll be so glad when I have more time (the only reason I have time now is because I'm very naughtily postponing working on an assignment)!

Have a terrific day, chickies! Until next time!

pearshape - I'm appalled that someone could say that about your pets! I don't personally care to keep rodents, reptiles, or arachnids as pets, but just because they're not my cup of tea - I'd never knock someone for loving them!

weezle - take care and feel better soon!

Well yesterday was not the best day but still pretty good. I did go off plan but managed to keep my portion and calories per day in check. Did strength training last night even though I did not want to. DId not get my water in though, I have been slacking on that. Today should be an easy day. Hoping to get some cardio in at the gym tonight. Nothing to do but make some money at my at home job...good luck today girls.

Freaky – good luck staying awake through that one. Sometimes I get headaches while exercising, never physically sick though…

Schatzi – you must have missed DH terribly, I go crazy when mine goes on business trips…

Cottage – You will have to post pictures of your new do!

Kiki – I am glad you are feeling good about things. I know how it is to be stressed, money is my biggest worry lately.

MsCrockett – good morning J

Mamahulk – any celebrities/fitness models/other people you are inspired by looking at? My biggest problem area is my butt, I think Marissa Miller (si swimsuit model) has the perfect butt. I had my before pictures and a picture of Ms. Miller from behind printed out wallet size at Walmart. Anytime I want to overeat or skip a workout I force myself to look over my pictures…that usually does it for me.

Ruth – you busy bee, have a good day!

Debbie – Chinese food is my weakness. I can’t avoid it when the opportunity comes up, but I am learning to make smarter choices about it and eat less of what I am served. Fried rice is REALLLLLLYYYYYYY bad for you as well that may be the culprit for your stalled loss.

Pear – you are the animal rescue hero of the forum…the new baby is very cute.

Usmchoney – ouch, I hope your back gets to feeling better.

2befit1 – congrats! That is awesome you are so close to your goal…

kyemom – a gym at work is so convenient…and a coworker for support is great.

Beachgal – my mindset changes quite a bit as well…just look at your ticker though hun 135 lbs! Your on your way to being a hottie!!! Only (notice I said ONLY) 18 more lbs to go, that’s nothing compared to what you have done. I know you can do it!

Soon – good to see you are making the best of the situation. That’s funny about your kitty, my puppy is the same way.

Demeter – way to go on the gym membership. Paying for a contract at the gym also serves as motivation to me, I do not want to waste the money by not going. Also when you are under contract and canceling is not an option it gets to be one of those free activities, gotta pay the bill anyway so no excuse not to go even if you are broke.

Weezle – Oh hun I did not even know you were sick. I hope you get to feeling better!

Hko – nice to see you are doing so well. You deserve the success with your grades we all know how hard you work!

I ate pizza last night!

Hey you guys,

Doing SO much better today than I was yesterday. Must be the pizza that I had for dinner last night... had been craving and craving and finally gave in and ordered a medium from a local place that does thin crust whole wheat. Ate my 2 pieces (which is better than 6 that I might have done before) and have no regrets!

Slept for 10 hours last night and am feeling better today!

Hope everyone has a great day, the weather here still sucks!

Changing my tracker cause not sure exactly where I'm at right now... changed my goal to 140 and thinking (hoping) I'm still below the 160 mark.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to pop in before I fix dinner. I've had a good day so far, I even came home and did my new yoga dvd. I really liked it.

Battling the blues, I think TOM is approaching, I really need to keep better track of my cycle so I can really know. I'm struggling with some issues that are still hounding me since my mom died. I won't go into it now, it's kind of a long story and I don't want to be a downer.

I doubt I'll be online anymore tonight. After dinner I have to go pick up my oldest daughter from a friend's house and then I plan on curling up on the sofa with a blanket and a good book. Maybe I'll even sweet talk my husband into going to get Allyson so I can curl up sooner. I may watch the Olympics, tonight a girl from Maryland is skating, hoping she does well.

Take care girls and have a great evening,

Tyra

Sorry, Chickies. I'm a bit too shaky to post much right now.

There was a terrible pile-up on the 401 this morning when I was on my way to my dental appointment - a multi-car and transport pile-up. A woman as read-ended by a transport, got out with her 10-month old baby, was hit by a car and the child was killed by another car. I'm OK as I was well back. My friend John was in a car further ahead of me. He is still in hospital being checked but it seems he has bruises and possible whiplash only.

The 401 was closed for ten hours but I did get to my dental appointment four hours late. The pile-up was almost a mile long!

It's definitely a comfort food night. It's a good thing there is no chocolate in this house!

MsCrockett 02-21-2006 06:45 PM

Ruth~~ So glad you are OK,, Sorry for your friend and the fright you must have felt.. Take Care,

Debbie0522 02-21-2006 09:46 PM

Just checked back in to read the p;osts. Thank you SO MUCH for the encouragement and the advice about nuts. I'm hungry right now!! I'm waiting until the kids are in bed and then I'll have my SF, FF pudding. I made the Marinated Flank steak from the SBD book today. It was good! I had it for dinner with steamed broccoli and summer squash.
I have had to turn down so many temptations today alone. I made my boys chocochip muffins for after school snack (they asked for them ) and then there are girl scout cookies at work and every where lately! But I have not eaten ANY! Guess I made a big mistake w/the fried rice!!
I have also made the spinach quiche recipe from the book. That is Awesome!
Demeter - Awesome about the gym!!! Good for you!
Pear - your rat is so cute!!!
We have two cats at our house - their names are Max & Erma! Part of the family.
Wheezle - Hope you are all over that fever! My kids have had it, Most recently this weekend.
I have to run - can't wait to see the figure skating.

H-ko 02-22-2006 06:11 AM

Ruth - I'm so sorry for your bad experience  . That is so tragic, that tiny baby getting killed. What about the mother? Was she killed as well? How awful.... What a terrible thing to happen. I'm glad you are okay, though - and I hope your friend is better soon.
