Lastnight I had a phone call from DS, DIL is at hospital, blood clots in legs. Now because of meds she is on she won't be able to breast feed:mad: I feel so bad for them. We will find out more today.
Well other than that I tink I should tell some of you about my crazy past, I am a 50 (this week) year old widow. I lost my mother and my best friend (DH) a year ago. I am doing fine as i believe I will be with them again some day.:) So as you can see i guess i am finding myself.:o
Friendship is
a priceless pleasure.

Good morning, Early Maritimer Chick with the pierced bellybotton! I'm glad it didn't hurt! You are quite the gal, Taz, and I admire the way you have got yourself together after such a terrible year.

I will post fast as my ISP is going down for a tech change shortly. I don't know why they can't do this in the middle of the night! However, I shouldn't complain as they give me very personal service when I call. They even ask about the dogs! I love small local firms if they can give me big city service.

Lately I've not been following the program well - too much bread - and my ticker was lying for ten days! :( Bad me! Today it's back to being honest and I'm hoping it can move the right way by this time next week. I guess I'm a stress eater and there sure has been lots of stress lately.

Romano comes yet again this morning. I hear the sump pump running so suspect there is still a leak in the foundation. He was hoping to finish today as I am going to be at my sister's for Tuesday and Wednesday but it may not happen. I'm actually going for dinner and overnight, rather than two full days but I stretched the truth a bit to give him a sense of urgency.

This afternoon, I'll take my darlings to the kennel. We are booked in for tomorrow but I have an election night party tonight and six to midnight is too long to leave them alone. Rob, my darling dog caregiver, won a trip to the Dominican Republic and is down there sunning himself at the moment. So they'll be there for two nights and I'll be petless.

I'm off for breakfast and will pop back later if my ISP is still up or up again!

:cofdate:

JanaM 01-23-2006 07:28 AM

Mornin' all. Just a quick post this morning, since I'm running sooooo late!

Taz - So sorry to hear about your losses in the past year. Losing both so close together must have been really hard.

On the brighter side, Happy Birthday week!!! :hb: I think we should all celebrate birthdays for a week, don't you? ;) Coincidentally, this is also my birthday week - mine was yesterday. And I got pierced for my birthday too, but just my ears. I like the idea of a belly button ring, but just I can't pull that look off. :lol3:

Ruth - Have a great time at your sister's house. Sounds like this will be a good opportunity to get away from the house and just decompress for a little bit.:beach:

Y'all have a great Monday!

H-ko 01-23-2006 07:44 AM

Taz - You have had a rough year of it! Thank goodness it wrapped up with such a lovely little bundle as your new GD. I hope that is an indication that this will be a much better year for you.

Ruth - you could probably use a break from all the noise and confinement, anyway, so don't feel badly!

Jana - have a happy birthday! Any plans?

Me - running around day for me today. I have to go pick up my transcript from my old cc (community college, that is) and ask them for descriptions of my older classes from the 90's when I attended there off and on. Then a lovely 30-mile drive to my new cc, meet a teacher or three, pick up my letters of recommendation, redo my scholarship app (which I messed up earlier), pick up my transcript there, change my major to engineering, and drop off my scholarship app packet. Then, if DS isn't having tantrum after tantrum from sheer exhaustion, I have some shopping I need to do (at the very least I need milk!). There's no easy way to avoid eating out, since I'll probably have to park half a mile away (well, maybe a quarter mile) and uphill from my cc and I hurt my knee yesterday somehow. I can't pack something to take because I need to go shopping. So DS and I will be partaking of the cafeteria's offerings - or at least the campus coffee shop. Probably the latter, since I can't see managing a tray /and/ DS's stroller! But we'll see what happens. If I'm lucky, lunchtime will hit either before we get to the campus or after we leave - then at least I can find a better place to take DS for lunch. I need to remember to pack some Cheerios for him for a snack and grab a sippy cup so I can get him milk to drink.

I think I'll be re-doing phase 1 for a few days soon, but not until after midterms! Probably next Monday-Wednesday or so. I've been eating too many carbs again (those darned convenient sandwiches!). I won't inflict it on DH though. He doesn't seem to be having cravings like me, so no need for him to do it. I'll just cook ph2 and skip the grains/fruit.

Have a good day chicas!

pearshape 01-23-2006 07:50 AM

Good Morning, chickies! Well, today I weighed in and the stupid scale stayed the same. Grr! I've been mostly good this week. I'm still moving on to P2 since I lose just as well in P2 as P1 as long as I watch my portions and drink lots of water. Last night I had a glass of wine. I had a Zinfandel which was just barely too strong for me so I mixed it with some of the Gallo Cafe Zinfandael which is a little too sweet and fruity for me....but together they were just right! I didn't have a hankering for dessert after the wine so I may make that my dessert from now on. There are only 85 calories in a 4 oz glass of wine so that's a nice bargin.

My new baby rat Wallace is doing much better. I think the medicine must be working. I feel bad having to force a syringe down the poor little guys throat but he won't take it any other way. I tried hiding it all sorts of yummy treats but no go. I have all of them on antibiotics so that they don't just pass this cold from one to another. The rest of the boys just take it right out of the syringe. Both Wallace and Cecil are still in the process of socialization but are coming along nicely. I can't wait until they are big sweet squishy boys like my Alfred and Percival.

Today it's back to the woods for me and my dog. I got rained out yesterday and didn't get to finish my work so that means I have to go back to the same site instead of the other one I had planned on for today. But I went to Target and got a Coleman raincoat that comes down mid-calf so I'm ready for the rain if it comes today. I won't be able to go to the other site until this weekend so I'm a little peeved about that as it messed up my schedule but whatryagonado??

Taz: Glad to hear your peircing adventure turned out OK. I think it's great how well you're doing after all you've been through. It's an inspiration to all of us.

Ruth: I love election night parties!! Last Nov we had a party at my advisors house. It was a blast....despite the unfortunate outcome....hehe!

Jana: Hi  have a fabulous day!

pearshape 01-23-2006 07:52 AM

Hi, H-ko!

freaky 01-23-2006 07:54 AM

Speaking of Birthday's...

Speaking of birthday's...mine was last week and this Sat I went out to a local Bar with my friends. I had several drinks and only one of them was a glass of wine :dizzy: . I should have known better. The scale has now awarded this behavior with a gain of 2 pounds!!!. I have not changed the ticker becuase I hope that it will go back down in a day or two. :^: Note to self: don't do that again!!!

Taz - Wow a belly button ring!!! I hope you have some fun with that and enjoy shopping for new rings. Many of my friends have them but I never went that route. After gaining 80 pounds when I was Pregnant I have no disire to decorate what I consider my worst feature. I do however have three tattoo's on my lower back.

Jana - Happy Birthday

H-Ko and Pear - Happy Monday

Ruth - My ticker is lying at the moment too. If it doesn't tell the truth in a few days I intend to take it out and beat it!!!

It makes me angry becuase except for the alcoholic beverages on my birthday celebration, I have remained OP for three weeks as of today. I lost the first 6 in week one, 2 more at the beginning of week two and then 2 more at the begining of week three. I exercise like a fiend and have been faithful about getting a good work out each day and staying in the January exercise challenge. My mother made me a birthday cake for the birthday dinner last night and I did not eat any!!! :( Bummer - Wish me luck!!!

I hope everyone has a good day!!!

H-ko 01-23-2006 08:32 AM

pearshape - have fun tramping around the woods!

freaky - if you want to post menus, we can make comments/suggestions for you. What is your BMI right now? Maybe this is just where you're body wants to be, weight-wise.

freaky 01-23-2006 08:55 AM

Bmi

H-Ko - BMI is currently 22.7 which is within the normal range but I'm not comfortable at this weight. I have a tiny frame and I find that I am more comfortable with a BMI closer to 20. 115 puts me at 20.4 BMI which is still in the middle of the normal range.

I'll try posting some menu's for comments this week.

beach bum 01-23-2006 09:08 AM

Good Morning Chicks:)

I hope you had a great weekend,I did as my sodium laces soups that I took all last week only brought me to a 1 lb gain.

We're having a rainy snowy mixture up here, and its very glummy to wake up to.
Really wanted to turn around as stay it bed, but I was hungry and had my breakfast of grilled cheese on SD bread. Entering Phase 2 this morn, and the sourdough bread is what I adding in first for the week and see if that effects me.

TAZ-Sending prayers & good:goodvibes:vibes for your D-I-L. Good Luck:goodluck: on restarting Phase 1.

Ruth-Bread is my down fall also. Don't know why I starting out on bread entering Phase 2 HiFi cereal would be the better choice, but thats what I wrote in my journal for the week.Heres to a better week for you so your ticker won't lie.

Jana- Happy:woo:birthday,What kinds of earrring are you planing to buy????? I love all kinds Real gold & silver plus a lot of custom.

h-ko-Please take a breather, inbetween all you busy activities. My DH can eat frozen entree pizza :jeno:and not gain an oz. GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! I just look:tired: at the box and I'm up a couple of pounds. Why or why do men get away with that??

Pearshape-Cheers:cheers: for maintaining, and good luck:lucky: entering Phase 2.I'm entering that Phase also.

Freaky-We all don't lose the same amount going out of Phase 1. I lost a total of 6 lb being on Ph#1 for 3 weeks. 2 lb a week. You lost and that a big congrats :cheer: for you.

Hugs :) BB

H-ko 01-23-2006 09:21 AM

bb - my DH can't get away with it - which is why he's on the Beach, too. He just hasn't gotten any cravings back. I think part of my problem is that I haven't been drinking enough water - I've been drinking more tea lately instead (caffeine is my friend these days!).

batmomm2000 01-23-2006 09:27 AM

TAZ-yougo girl!! a bellybutton ring that's awesome, I think I'd like to try, afterall I told my firends that once I get down to my goal i'll be going to the grocery story in my bikini!!

Jana-Happy birthday!!, mine is on this coming Saturday, I'll be 35-eek middle aged...

Freaky-I agree that your ticker should stop lying in a couple days once your system is flushed. If you had fun that night, just look forward from here!

I'm headed to the gym now for psycho instructor Norm to kick my butt!! I'm trying to try some fresh turkey breakfast sausage this morning but they are freaking me out. Taking too long to cook, the casing is well um a casing, can yu tell I'm not a huge experience meat person?? I like chicken and hamburgers...

seachick 01-23-2006 09:38 AM

Morning all.
I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one with a lying ticker! :(
It was correct last Monday but as of today I am up 5 lbs!! That's what I get for partying all week. And of course to top it off yesterday I was partying again celebrating our football win. I am going to have to drink one heck of a lot of water and eat right on target to repair the damage. Oh well.

Today is another day and I'm ready to tackle it. I plan to have a really good week.
Have a great day everybody!

rotten_banana 01-23-2006 09:38 AM

Good Morning!

Well chickies, it was a sucky weekend as my dear little boy gave me a stomach bug. So I was up all night Thursday sick as a dog!! All I've basically eaten all weekend is bread and crackers and drank some Gatorade to keep from dehydrating.

I thought I felt well enough to get in a Yoga class yesterday morning. I really shouldn't have, but I feel so guilty. I'm going to try to work out today, but taking it easy - just walking on the treadmill. I tried to get back OP and made myself some eggs, but took one bite and spit them out. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to eat? I did step on the scale and shows a 2 lb gain (but that's probably because I really haven't eaten or drank much). I'll probably have to restart P1, right??

Taz - hope your family gets better!

Ruth - Hop back up on that horse!

Jana - Happy Birthday!!

H-ko - Whew! You're making me tired ;)

Pearshape - Wine is a perfectly acceptable dessert in my book :)

Freaky - Have you taken your measurements? Maybe you're losing inches?

beachbum - mmmm...LOVE grilled cheese!

H-ko 01-23-2006 09:45 AM

rotten - you're still recovering from being sick - eat what sounds good for your tummy and take it easy! You don't want to get sick again, after all. You were on ph2 by now, right? I wouldn't worry about redoing ph1 unless you start having cravings - but even then, wait until you're feeling better before you worry about it. Hope you're well again soon.

cottagebythesea 01-23-2006 09:48 AM

Hi Chickies,
I should be getting the house tidied up right now, but I'm putting it off. I've been away at my DD's all weekend, she called Friday and asked if I could go over to babysit for them for Saturday, so I left right after I got off work on Friday. I don't often get the chance to have Carley all to myself so I really enjoyed my time with her. And she took her first REAL steps for me! It was only about 4 or 5 steps, but she did it, and I was there! I imagine by the end of the week she'll be walking all over the place! They didn't want me to go home, so I stayed over Sat. night and came back yesterday after church. It would have been nice if Jake would have come, too, but he's a real homebody and just prefers staying at home. So today I'm trying to get back on schedule again. I've already done my workout and stop in to have coffee with my parents, and now I have to see what there is to make for tonight's supper. I have a head of cauliflower I should use up, so I'm thinking Chicken Fried Rice. The weather is rainy and raw, so soup sounds good for lunch.

Taz ~ I'm glad you have a positive outlook on your future. That's pretty gutsy, getting your belly button pierced! Belated Happy Birthday!

Ruth ~ Hang in there! Once all your remodeling and redecorating are done, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy them. Have a great visit with your sister.

JanaM. ~ Happy Birthday!

H-Ko ~ A busy day ahead for you! Hope it all goes smoothly!

Pearshape ~ Enjoy your day in the woods. I love being outside in the rain, especially if I can stay warm and dry.

Freaky ~ Happy Birthday to you, too! I'm having the same trouble as you, I've pretty much stayed OP and exercise faithfully every day, then I eat one little thing that's NOT OP, and the weight goes up! My ticker's a little "off" right now, too, but I'm working on fixing it the next few days.

Beach bum ~ Thank goodness we're futher south, all we're getting is rain, but it's really dark and gloomy. I would have loved to just stay in bed all day.

cottagebythesea 01-23-2006 09:52 AM

Hi to all who posted while I was writing this!

kyemom 01-23-2006 10:12 AM

Hello Beach chicks!!! I was very good this weekend, except for Friday night..I had some bread & butter...I made a yummy soup yesterday...Kinda a dump soup with chicken and veggies and beans..very yumy...made enogh to have it 2 times!!! So dinner for tonight just needs to be heated up...gotta love that!! Well, no time to address everyone right now...Be back later!!

crk05 01-23-2006 10:16 AM

Morning everyone!

Well, DH and I survived the move in one piece and I'm glad it's over. It got pretty tiresome dragging boxes and furniture up and down the stairs. I'm sure I got a good workout :strong: though! Next time we move into an apartment, hopefully we'll get one on the first floor! The second story was just so not worth it, even if it was a nice view.

Let's see...I'm restarting P1 today because with the move and the kitchen being packed up, we ate a lot of bad food: Papa John's :jeno:, Burger King :burger:, fried stuff, and the :chockiss: chocolate I indulged in with my church group. I even smudged chocolate on my nice tan Ann Taylor pants! How dare I!!! I joined this week's P1 start/restart group.

Not a lot going on in the lab. I do have a presentation coming up, but things are very quiet on the research front. Once in a while I like it that way. After the busy weekend, it's nice to get a bit of rest.

Have a great day on the beach everyone!

Sheba's Mom 01-23-2006 10:48 AM

Morning chickies!! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Don't have time to post to everyone busy, busy day.

Just had to share with everyone that yesterday ended P1 for me for the third time in the last 2 years. When I started SBD I lost 7 pounds in P1, the second time I did P1 to detox I lost 5 pounds. This time once again to detox (they say 3rd times the charm right?) I have lost (big drum roll) 15 pounds. WOOO WHOOO!! :carrot: :goodscale

Can't wait until Wednesday to change my ticker officially. And man did that 1/2 of a whole wheat bagel taste wonderfull this morning!!

Hope everyone has a great OP day!

H-ko 01-23-2006 10:49 AM

Whoo-hoo! Way to go, Karla! :carrot: :bravo: :cb: :cp:  :dancer: :woo:

Barb0522 01-23-2006 11:04 AM

taz - sorry to hear about your DIL. There are a lot of drugs where the info sheet with the drug says you can't breastfeed but they really are okay. I kept an updated Hale's Guide to Nursing when I was breastfeeding and found many drugs were actually fine. Of course, she should check with her doctor.

Me - The foods at the district dinner last night were definitely not OP. It was easy to just eat a taste of the mashed potatoes since they were instant and I HATE instant mashed potatoes but I have to admit I enjoyed the dinner roll and cake. :sorry: Oh, well, my ticker is definitely lying. I'll adjust it on my official weigh in day on Wednesday. I'm trying a cauliflower soup tonight from the new cookbook. It sounds good.

kyemom 01-23-2006 12:01 PM

WOOOHOOOO...Great job Karla!!!!!!!!!!!

angelshine90 01-23-2006 01:30 PM

Good Afternoon- I hate the snow hate it hate it hate it
day 2 of phase 1 going fine...I am just really tired and missing Jelly beans like crazy.....Oh well.
Maybe I will get down in the 120s by next week...I hope so!

SarahinBalance 01-23-2006 02:10 PM

Hey you guys,

Well I have to say that I'm proud of myself... Day 7 of Phase 1... this weekend I was able to avoid alcohol (which is tough when your boyfriend is playing a rock and roll show and you're going out for your friend's birthday)... and I have to say that I still had a great time and didn't miss it... this morning I weighed myself and I think I'm in the 163's (the scale has it down to the 10th of the pound) but I'm going to wait till tomorrow to record it on my ticker as Tuesday is my "official" weigh-in date. Gotta stop myself from weighing myself so often though... I'm hoping that it's something that I'll naturally ween myself off of and that I'm just excited now to be being so successful... diet and exercise are going great... did cardio and weights this morning and have lots of energy... I'm gushing now, but really feeling happier than I have in a while... hope everyone has a GREAT day.

Sarah

weezle 01-23-2006 02:16 PM

Well I'm at home today. Terry was sick all day yesterday and called in today. I woke up 3 times during the night with chills. I went into work, did a few things only I can do, and came home. I've tried sleeping but it's just not happening. My eyes are burning and they want to shut, but when I shut them, nothing happens.

So here I am. Watching Roseanne. Terry's apparently feeling better because he's playing video games in the bedroom. I guess I'm going to try laying down again. Sorry I don't have the energy to reply to everyone. I'm just pooped. Talk to you all soon.

Lisa

nice job Karla, hope you can spread some of that good losing power around

JanaM 01-23-2006 06:57 PM

Thanks to everyone for their birthday wishes. Got to spend some time with family and friends, and today a friend of mine took me out for lunch. Beachbum, as far as the earrings go, I stick with pretty classic stuff - nothing too wild. So I started out with plain white gold CZ studs. Once I get to take these out, I might actually shop for diamond studs. (yeah, baby!)

Karla, way to go!

Schatz - What a sweetie! Glad you got to get away for the weekend.

Weezle - Hope you feel better soon.
