Morning chicks! I just got to school and I have to get to work soon but I thought I'd say hello from my :sunny: corner of the lab! Had a bit of a stressful evening. DH and I are moving on Saturday and we're getting pretty tense about it. The packing is barely even started. So we have to get going tonight!

rotten_banana ~ Congrats on getting close to your goal!

Loving_Mommy ~ I hope you enjoy the Taco Bake! I haven't tried it yet but I've heard good things.

Pearshape ~ Don't be too hard on yourself. Today is another day!

Ruth ~ Wow, those girls are smart!

Schatzi ~ I hope Casey feels better soon.

weezle ~ Interesting, I was rooting for team blue, but I didn't see Episode #1, so I didn't have the whole story! I just kept seeing the girl on the red team saying "I'm a princess, I want to get married in a castle!" Well, I'm just happy that they both just did so well! Such an inspiring show. The restaurant families next week should be interesting.

wildlifebio, Beachbum, kyemom, H-Ko ~ Hi! Have a great day on the :beach: beach!

RNMOM ~ We posted at the same time! I hope you have a not-too-stressful day!

H-ko 01-19-2006 10:08 AM

Lovingmommy - definitely more veggies! At least 4 1/2 cups a day of a variety of veggies. After all, this isn't a low-carb diet! :)

Pearshape - I hate it when that happens! If my car has to have a mind of its own, why can't it drive me somewhere healthier? ;)

Ruth - how much longer will Romano & et al be working there? Not much, I hope - sounds like you are starting to get some cabin fever?

Schatzi - yes it was. I think it's for members only (?), but it doesn't take much effort to register. It's not that big a deal, it just felt a little creepy. Maybe it was some lonesome lurker who just didn't think how it'd sound, saying those sorts of things to a total stranger...but it didn't feel that way. They'd served their purpose anyway, since I'd posted the links months ago. Congrats on your DH getting the job! Hopefully you'll get one as great!

Weezle - I'm amazed you find time for volleyball on top of everything else! You are such a bundle of energy!

RNMOM - maybe it's a seasonal thing?

Well girls I really do not know what to say. I have had a huuuuuuugeeeeeeee financial hardship hit me. :( Right before the big move as well. Cannot cancel the move as I would lose my deposit. Bills have to be paid and I really need my car to do photos so I am going to have to eat tuna, top ramen, cereal basically anything I can buy for under a dollar for the next few months :barf: . I am not giving up on SB just post poning. I know some of the things I already have I can definitely eat...string cheese, lowfat milk, salads...I just cannot afford to buy the meat mostly. I would love to stick around and keep up with what is going on at the beach...even though I won't be strictly following SB. Would that be ok everyone? I promise not to show off my *bad foods* :)

rotten banana - a manicure and pedicure sounds divine right now. Way to go with treating yourself, you deserve it!

Loving Mommy - I had a gazelle, loved that thing. When I was done working out on it I would just swing my legs like I was 5 and playing on the playground. Isn't it nice to have gym equipment at home, then there are no excuses!

pearshape - you are hilarious chickie, I hate when my car does that too.

ruth - I hate having people over my house to work on things. It just kind of interrupts your life while they are there. But then when they have gone everything is fixed! So I guess it is a necessary evil.

beach bum - turning your menu around is a really interesting idea. You will have to let us know if it works!

Scatzi - Sounds like both you and your husband and very responsible people. I know a ton of people (probably due to my age) would slack at their old job knowing they have new one coming up. What a good wife you are giving him shoulder rubs and being his coffee iv!

Good morning!!
I too watched the biggest loser last night & I was rooting for team red. I could not stand the gal on the blue team....Rasha. What an ugly gal...I don't mean physically...her attitude & whiny ugh! That and she looks like a girl here in MI that likes my fiance & is always starting fights with me. Back in Aug, she knew I was dieting & drank my diet soda with her booze instead of drinking her regular soda. But I was mean when I didn't "share." And this past Dec. we were at a party & she accused me of stealing her coach purse. Never mind that when I left the party, I walked up to everyone & said bye & NO ONE saw me with a coach purse. She tore up the host's house, broke his closet door looking for the purse & when she didn't find it - she swore I took it. Anyway...go team red!
Ruthie...I made the beef stew last night...I skipped the potatoes all together..still yummy with onions and green beans.
Weezle - 300 - WOW!
Cro5 - you must try the taco bake..it's wonderful!
Well I'm off to exercise...see ya later!

H-ko 01-19-2006 11:11 AM

stephie - of course you can stay! You aren't alone - it's expensive to eat right (sad, isn't it?). I know a few other chickies here have been (and some probably still are) in the situation. Good luck getting through the hard times ahead; I hope things pick up for you soon!

Morning all!
Well I took the day off from the beach yesterday. BUT I did take a nice 4 mile walk AT the beach.
Then I went to lunch with a good friend and enjoyed a Greek salad, some Greek pizza, and some nice wine. I savored every bite!
Today is another day and I am back OP. Have to work today so I'm packing an orange, some yogurt and a hard boiled egg for lunch.

Have a great day everyone!

crk05 01-19-2006 12:10 PM

stephie - I'm so sorry to hear that you've run into some rough times! Eating healthy can really add up, especially with the meats and fresh veg and fruit. Please stick around, and just know that we are here for you!

wildlifebio 01-19-2006 12:12 PM

I have a question. Today is my third day on Phase 1 and I am not feeling too hot. As the day goes on I feel more and more sluggish. I stood up a minute ago from my desk and everything went black. Not good. First of all, is this the changes in my diet that are bringing this on or do you think I am coming down with something? If it is the diet - what do you guess suggest doing if anything.
Thanks.

crk05 01-19-2006 12:18 PM

wildlifebio - it might possibly be the "South Beach flu" (ie the diet). I was fine on days 1 and 2 of P1, but days 3-6 I felt YUK! Kind of dizzy and weak, and one day I just wanted to conk out at my desk. :faint: I think a lot of people go through this, but the good news is that it generally clears up by the end of the first week. I just made sure I took it easy - no workouts :ebike: - and I was also careful to get all my snacks :cheese: and plenty of water in.

wildlifebio 01-19-2006 12:29 PM

Crk05 - Thanks so much. I think I am a little paranoid anyway when it comes to health issues (thanks to my crazy dad) however I don't mind feeling like this if it normal and it is temporary.

Tammy70 01-19-2006 12:35 PM

Good Mornin' / Afternoon Ya'll

Been a busy morning at work, so only have time for a drive by.

I did yoga again last night, and the back of my legs are feeling it. Doesn't hurt (thank goodness) but I can feel it. I'm going to the gym tonight. I don't know what to do there though, I guess treadmill etc. I was going to go to a class but tonights is a belly dancing class :o Not ready for that and I don't want to not go, it would be so easy to say " since I can't do what I want I'll go home" so I'm at least going to do a treadmill, bicycle, lift weights--something? The scale still isnt moving for me, so I want to get a kick in the butt to make it move.

Stephie---yes definitely, please stick around. We enjoy hearing from you and you can keep us posted on how you're doing. I hope everything goes well for you, I know how hard financial problems are, just keep your chin up and take it one day at a time!!!

Gotta get back to work, Ya'll have a great day!!;)

H-ko 01-19-2006 12:37 PM

wildlife - those are pretty common phase 1 detox symptoms. They'll most likely pass after a few days (I think mine lasted 3-4 days). On the bright side, it means ph1 is working - you are purging all the ick out of your system!

Barb0522 01-19-2006 12:49 PM

wildlifebio - The symptoms shouldn't be that severe. Please post what you ate yesterday and today including what you have been drinking. It sounds like you may not be eating enough of the right stuff.

wildlifebio 01-19-2006 01:33 PM

Drinking - each day I have been drinking a cup of coffee in the morning, at least 64 oz of water through out the day, and one diet coke a day. I also exercised on Tuesday and Wed (walked 4 miles each day, I usually do that 5 times a week). Didn't do it today because I didn't feel like it.

I just got finished eating lunch and I feel a LOT better. I think I might not have been eating enough maybe because my portion sizes have been pretty small. I am just not used to not being hungry and 'making' myself eat. Do you think that is what it is? Thanks!

weezle 01-19-2006 01:35 PM

I'm starting to notice a trend with my headaches (I woke up with one again today.) My head was just throbbing (left side, top, just like 2 days ago) and so I drank my smoothie so I could take some advil. But once I was done with my smoothie, my head didn't hurt anymore. Then, after awhile, it started hurting again. So I just started eating my lunch, yogurt first, and now that I'm done with it, my headache is gone. I had a non-dairy snack in the middle and that didn't make it go away. I wonder if my body is craving dairy? I don't know what my problem is! I felt fine yesterday. It's really irritating.

300 crunches really is no problem if you do all different kinds of sets of 25. I start by laying on the floor on my side with my knees bent but my shoulders facing the ceiling and do 25, then face the same way my legs are and do 25, then switch sides. That's 100 right there. Then I do 25 regular, 25 with my legs at a 90 degree angle, 25 with my ankles crossed and my legs in the air, 25 with my legs down indian-style, 25 with my legs that way but reaching for my knees every time, 25 obliques each side (50,) and 25 bicycles. That's 300. It takes me just over a commercial break to do them. I'm starting to get some definition so I'm feeling pretty good. I'm not saying I can't feel that I'm doing them all. It's just not so bad because I'm not doing 300 of all the same kind.

As for being a busy bee and getting my exercise in, I just have to. I've seen my body transform just a little, and it makes me want it to transform even more. I know that if I don't exercise, it won't happen. My boobs are shrinking, my gut is shrinking, my butt and legs are shrinking, and the parts that are fat-free now are starting to look toned, my arms and calves especially. I am starting to look more similar to how I looked in high school rather than like a balloon. That and the Biggest Loser is my inspiration.

Well back to work I go. Talk to you all later.

Lisa
