first timer intro...

hey girls
I've been browsing around your site for a couple days now and it looks great. So I'm plunging in.

My name is Gaela. I'm a 34 yr old SAHM to my two boys Tyler(5 1/2) and Calvin(21m). We recently moved to Richmond, VA from MA so we've been enjoying the warmer weather right now.

I'm only 5'1" so it doesn't take a lot of weight to make me chunky and since Calvin was born, boy am I ever! It's so funny b/c I always thought I could stand to lose 10-15 lbs or so but now I look at my old jeans and think DAMN I was HOT!!:dizzy:

I've tried assorted weight things before and really didn't much stick with them b/c I loved my breads and sugars...The Beach was the least likliest diet for me to ever do, EVER. But somehow or another I started reading the book and it made sense. Plus my DH always packs a few pounds on for my pregnancy and he has very high cholesterol and a pretty grave family history so if nothing else I want to help him live longer for me and the boys.

The best thing i've ever done for myself was quit smoking via hypnosis. I was a smoker from 14y-31 (minus the pregnant year). After that I began working out regularly even through my last week of pregnancy with Cal. And that's where my story ends.

So in the last month or so I've been a devotee of the gym 5x week doing both cardio and strength training. And I've signed up to run a 10k in April(I hate running, lol). The DH and I began our "vacation" to the Beach yesterday. So far so good:D

Now I don't particularly like the fake sugars. Sure I can drink a diet pepsi with the best of them but in food the aftertaste kills me. am I doomed to a life with no dessert? or do I just wait til later phases and then splurge once in a blue moon?

thanks!!!

***oh and get this, I have always had bad scoliosis and now my chiropractor says if I were straight, I'd be 2-3 inches taller, is that a rob job or what?

Wow we are so alike! I am 5'2 and I also have 27 lbs loss as a goal. I am really looking forward to having someone with my same goal to talk with! I am usually pretty good about going to the gym, exercise is not a problem to me, for me my weakness is and has always been bread and pasta! Welcome to the forum and good luck!
