OMG, Schatzi! No coffee! How terrible. I hope the day improves.

Kiko, nice to see you back. PM me if you want me to add you to the Janaury Weightloss sticky.

RNMOM, I cannot imagine how you must feel about your "child" going to Iraq. No matter how we feel about the war, those are people's kids over there!

Heavens, Taz, your first cavity in your adult teeth! That has to be a record. Think of the money you've saved towards your trip!

Cottage, my pc was wonkie yesterday too. I just restarted it and it seemed fine. I think they get indigestion sometimes.

Zombie, isn't that ricotta creme good? Be careful though as it's fairly high calorie. I think a serving is a half cup. :( Try some of the veggie soups to get more veggies into you and check out the best veggies sticky in the FAQ.

Djett, stupid boss! Doesn't he/she know what's important in life! :)

2BFit/SIL, enjoy your root pampering. I keep thinking about your lovely garden. I must dig out that "Days to Spring" URL although it's really a tease right now with well over two months to go.

The sun is peeking out just a little. It's cold out there at 16ºF and I'm hoping the sun will warm up the back room so I don't need to light a fire this morning. It's 47ºF right now, a tad chilly. I usually manage to hold out until late afternoon when it's time for herb tea, Dr Phil and a couch cuddle for The Girls after their delicious home made dinner.

I've had my bath, done the FlyLAdy in the kitchen and am thinking of going to town for some storage bins. However, I also have a gift card for books so had better wait until a day when I have more time. I need to make a major effort in the cellar today to get ready for Romano on Monday. The Hyper Pypers come for a visit tomorrow and I will enlist them to do some heavy struff. Sunday I'll be in Ottawa for the day so today is "it".

Outta here, Ruthie. Time's a'wastin'!

amycue 01-06-2006 09:21 AM

Morning everyone!

Ok so my house looks so beautiful all freshly painted and clutter free in order to sell it. Why can't I do this for myself instead of waiting to do it for someone else so they'll want to buy it? Grrr! I have thrown out more garbage and donated more to church in the past 2 weeks than in my life. LOL! All for a good cause I suppose now hopefully we'll get the big bucks.

Been doing well on the beach so hopefully the scale will show it on Monday. My turkey chili and turkey veggie soup are getting me through that's for sure!

Schatzi good luck with the coffee pot. I would be lost without mine too. I have one of those french press pots just for such occassion!

Oh Heather ice cream ugh! That is a big downfall of mine as well. I would throw it out or else I'd eats it and then really feel badly. JMO.

Ruth hope you got some more sleep!

Enjoy your day ladies!

kyemom 01-06-2006 09:57 AM

ok...So here I am this chilly Friday morning!! I am down 1 pound..but I decided to change my goal weight from 145 to 140.....I just don't think 145 is gonna do it. I wish I could lose weight as fast as mu puppy is putting it on. I took him to the vet last week and he weighed 20 lbs (10 weeks old), I weighed him this morning..and he is 25 lbs (11 weeks old)..that is 5 lbs in 1 week...wish I was giving him those pounds off of my butt!!! Anyway...My DS told me this morning that SBD was doing good for me..he is 8...so I must be doing something right!! This weekend I am going to do a huge clean up....Amy was was just talking about doing a clean up to sell the house, not for herself...so I am gonna do it for me...I know I will feel so much better with the clutter gone...also I am getting rid of anything bigger than a size 8....If it is in the house I have an excuse to not try as hard..If my clothes feel tight I have something else to put on...so no more sizes for me that are too big!! Anyways....Everyone have a great OP day..I will be popping in and out!!

seachick 01-06-2006 10:08 AM

Morning all!
I am looking forward to having a good day OP today. I went off just a little last night and enjoyed 2 glasses of wine and a few more pistachios but other than that the last 3 days have been very good.
Here's to a great day everybody!

beach bum 01-06-2006 10:17 AM

Good Morning Chicks:)

I'm feeling chipper [cluck.cluck]again, after battling an upper respirtory infestion.
Got all my cooking a freezing done yesterday, now if I don't fell like cooking I can take one of the frozen dinners out and walla!!:genie: instant OP. meals.

Took a peek on the scale and I didn't do too good  for tomorrow real W-I. I suppost its the suggary meds that I have been taking all week.

Taz=hope you can get your ticker on your post.Your lucky:lucky:with your teeth. My DS & DD have very few cavitys and they boths in the 30's.Hope you follow suit.

RNMOM-I love that show"Biggest Loser" are they doing some thing different this year by only having couple and familys other than the group like they did last year? I'm on Day 5 and I not see any results like I posted above. Its hard to get a decent lunch hr when your working especially in your line of work.TG I'm retired.

KiKo-You'll always have a chair on the beach.Welcome back.Take care of that baby of yours.

Zombie-I love veggies and I eat them at all of my three meals.Learned that from a low carb diet I was on. This morning I had crabmeat on 1/2 of steamed pepper, for lunch97% ff hot dog coins on waxbeans, and for dinner cheesy collie, and asparagus with some fish. I think VEGGIES is to key to weight loss.

djette- BIG CONGRATSon your 1lb weight loss and 50 lbs off the scale with in the next 5 lbs.Your doing excellent, even though you had goodies, you did great.

Schatzi-AWEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! Sorry:sorry: about your cawfeeeee pot. I know how much you like coffee.Heres to a better coffee pot model.

Have to get ready to go shopping will post later and read page 1

Hugs :) BB

Good Morning All!

Well, we completed 4 days of PH1 and feel good about it. In fact, hubby wants to continue another week on PH1 after we complete the 2 weeks. Is this such a good idea?

Also, we both have high cholesterol and high bp, has anyone had favorable results in lowering both because of this diet?

RNMOM, thank you and your son for his service in Iraq. WE are proud of him!

Everyone have a great day!

Joanne

Joanne - I believe there is a post in the FAQ section about going longer than 2 weeks. Usually it is only for people with a LOT to lose. For your other question, my cholesterol has gone from 246 to 177 so my doc is thrilled. I used to be on three different drugs for my blood pressure and now I am on none. Occasionally mine is still a little elevated so I may have to go back on 5mg lisinopril but that is nothing compared to the 40mg I used to take (along with the Toprol and HCTZ).

Kiko - Welcome back! I was just wondering about you the other day. Your girls must be growing up so fast - I know my son is.

zombie - I hardly ever eat salad. I just don't like it. But I get lots of veggies in other ways. Try red pepper strips with hummus. Try raw zucchini or raw cauliflower. They all make great snacks. Simple Eggplant Casserole is a good way to get lots in a one dish meal. For sides, try the asparagus/soy sauce/ginger/crushed red pepper dish in the original cookbook. I like mushroom medley too. It has spinach and red peppers along with lots of other stuff. I do think veggies are the real key to losing weight.

Quick Hi to everyone else! Today is busy at work. I'm back in the office. I've got leftover Chicken Piri Piri over Kale with Tomatoes and Black Beans for lunch. I thought the chicken dish was a little too olive oily for my taste but the chicken was good with the fresh jalapenos. I LOVED the kale dish. Brian thought it was okay and DH complained cause it has beans in it. I think he just needs to take more Beano! :) I'm working tonight and don't expect to get much sleep. I've got scout leader training from 7:30 - 4 tomorrow so I'll have to be moving fast in the morning.

Ruthxxx 01-06-2006 11:51 AM

Joanne, check out the FAQ for opinions on whether to stay on Phase I an extra week or not. My BP, cholesterol AND blood sugar have all improved on this plan. Canada uses different measurements than the States so I won't post the stats.

Beach Bum, I'm glad you are feeling better. Security is having meals ready to take out of the freezer. Good for you.

Seachick, sounds like just a slight deviation that could have been worse. Hop right back on track.

Keymom, that pup is certainly poacking it on. Is it time to switch to a bit of adult food? We usually do that with our pups at 10-12 weeks as puppy chow is very high calorie and fast growth is not a good idea in some dogs. Muscles and bones should grow at the same rate. Better check with your vet.

Amy, good for you doing a super clean-up. I need some motivation to do the same around here although I have ditched some of Harry's stuff.

I did not hit the basement this morning but my kitchen is now perfect and the Christmas stuff is all packed away. After lunch, I'll put on my knee brace, pocket my prtable phone and tackle the basement which is really more of a cellar although it doesn't have an earth floor anymore. The ceiling is so low, I sometimes bash my head and I'm only 5 feet!

Ruthxxx 01-06-2006 11:54 AM

Barb, you are a marvel! We were on the same wavelength about staying on Phase I. Next week I am definitely trying that kale recipe. I think I can still get some out of the garden if I can dig through the crust of ice over the snow.

kyemom 01-06-2006 12:05 PM

Ruth- He is on Adult food..has been for 3 weeks...he is a Great Dane....Expected to put on 5 lbs per week for the next several months! He will be a huge boy...dad is 190 lbs and 16 months old..mom is 150 lbs & 2 years old!!

Ruthxxx 01-06-2006 12:18 PM

Whew! Thanks for telling me , Keymom. We sure don't want hip displasia in our big babies. I love Great Danes and know several. We have one in the TheraPaws programme, a handsome fellow who very gentle and very popular with patients.
Hey! His mom was a cradle robber!

SynergyJoy 01-06-2006 12:43 PM

Acid Peel? Oh my gosh, don't do it. What you're doing is basically burning off the top layer of skin, wounding it. That will leave your skin open to getting sun damage and cancer so much easier.

What you really should do is use a very good facial scrub to give your face a deep, thorough cleaning. Find one with pure jojoba micro beads and sulfate-free surfactants: they will gently exfoliate the skin, (products with apricot kernels or walnut husks cause tiny lacerations and irritate the skin).

Then use one of the newer Gen III and Gen IV products that penetrate your skin, repair your DNA and get your skin producing collegen like it did before you started aging at 23! That will get rid of those tiny lines and wrinkles.

Demeter 01-06-2006 12:56 PM

Hi, I just joined! This looks like a great place for me to be right now. I just started SBD on the 3rd & I've lost 3 lbs. The first couple of days, I really had issues with feeling like CRAP but I feel fine now and I'm finally learning how to use my "allowed" in a way that makes them actually taste good. I think that next weekend I'll join the gym but I'm also saving up for a good down payment on a car so it's a tough one! My 1st real temptation will happen tonight - a couple of my friends from my hometown are coming to visit & want to go out for drinks. I haven't quite decided how I'll handle this situation. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING HERE!
