Anyone else going back to phase one after...

the holidays?
I have been off the beach wagon for 3 months and although I have only gained back a little, my belly looks bloated and I feel sluggish and blah.

So after the holiday ( I am not psychologically ready) I am starting my new years healthy and going to the beach. I really do not have the cravings for starches, but I do need to have that purification and detox. I need that boost of weight loss to inspire me again.

Vking 12-17-2005 01:29 PM

I started phase 1 almost 2 weeks ago. I have only lost 2 pounds but new it wouldn't be much. I plan to stick to phase 1 or pretty close to it til after the Holidays so as not to gain weight or get cravings back. If it doesn't work I will join you in a full force phase 1 again.

Ruthxxx 12-17-2005 03:17 PM

I'm sure there will be a huge influx of restarts and new starts in the New Year.
Nice to see you back, chilichick!

chilichick 12-18-2005 07:22 AM

Nice ot be back. My hectic life got in the way and I ate what was handy. Now I am going to right the wrong and once again take time for me.

H-ko 12-18-2005 07:35 AM

I had the same problem - what with school and DS and all, I just didn't have the time to prepare OP meals all the time (healthy, but all those vegs do take a lot of time to prepare). So we more or less did a ph3 kind of thing, although we resorted to pizza or other quick foods now and then when severly pressed for time. Plus I could have written "powered by ice cream" on most of my essays! I gained 10 lbs back of the 19 I'd lost by the time the quarter was over. I didn't wait on the holidays, though - we started ph 1 over last Tuesday will be on it for a week. I've already lost 5 of those naughty 10 lbs again. The only non-OP things that I've had has been some honey in my tea - I've been really hoarse and croaky, and hot tea with honey seems to be the only thing that soothes my throat. Otherwise, I've been a good girl. In my case, though, it just wasn't practicable to wait til after the holidays, as that is when another quarter begins. As soon as Christmas is over, I need to sit down and figure out ways to keep OP while in school. At least I'll only be taking 11 credits next quarter instead of 15, so hopefully that will give me a little more time (so I'm not totally sleep deprived by the end of the quarter!).

cottagebythesea 12-18-2005 11:42 AM

I will be definitely re-doing Phase 1 after the holidays. I can't seem to stay away from the cookies this year, and Jake brought home some Lindt chocolate truffles that have been irresistable. My only salvation is that I've been keeping my meals OP and going to Curves 5-6 days a week!

angelshine90 12-18-2005 04:21 PM

I will be on the band wagon as well...........

chilichick 12-18-2005 05:26 PM

I don't like potatoes and to be honest I only miss cereal and oatmeal because it is fast to make for breakfast. I will feel so much better eating healthier and lots of veggies and lean protein. I really feel so bloated lately and I REALLY have to drink water.

JanieMarie 12-18-2005 07:09 PM

Me, too!!!

Well, I got off to a great start, and then school, kids, transportation problems, and Christmas got in the way--you know, LIFE! Like a lot of people, I've been off the wagon (wagon--what wagon??;) ) ever since I lost my initial 5 pounds.

But, school is over for me and the kids, and everything seems to be getting into vacation mode now. It will be SO much easier to get back to the beach after the holidays. And, since I know it works, that makes it easier, too.

My wish for all of us is that, when we go to the beach once again, we're able to stick with it and see our successes together. :present:

I'll keep checking in! Merry Christmas to all you chickies!!

Oh goodness, am I *ever*! I'll post my general story in the bio thread (I've been lurking in this forum for a bit, but need to get my butt publically kicked back in gear, so hi all!). But the short term story is that I've been completely AWOL this past month....Thanksgiving, birthday, end of semester craziness, and now final exams--my willpower does not go so far as to conquer sugar cravings and simultaneously memorize a semester of organic chemistry. :-)

*But* I'm back on the beach the moment after I finish my last exam...promise!

chilichick 12-19-2005 05:40 AM

I think what gets in the way for me is the planning. I work long hours as a teacher in a charter school, then I work 2.5 more hours as an afterschool teacher so when I go home all I want to do is grab the quickest thing and plop myself down on the sofa.
So this time I am thinking about how to plan before I start. I may so some make ahead meals on Sunday when I am more relaxed and always keep bagged salads in the house so I can use them with chicken or tuna for quick meals. Soup is another option to make in advance.

H-ko 12-19-2005 08:50 AM

Chilichick - take a look at the dump chicken recipes in the recipe forum - they're good time savers!

djett626 12-19-2005 11:34 AM

Well, I have been a bad girl. I haven't gained any back. I plan to go back to phase 1 after the holidays for detox purposes. Any weight loss that results from that will just be extra. I will have to do some serious planning to have phase 1 work for me. For now, I will just try to keep my head!

Sealbeach 12-19-2005 07:48 PM

Me too!

Count me in! Just trying to hang in there through the holidays and houseguests!

RNMOM 12-20-2005 12:19 PM

Uhhhhh

OF COURSE!!!!! I can hardly wait! I need fewer distractions to deal with and focus on me and good eating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

soon2Bfab 12-20-2005 12:35 PM

Me too...dbf & I have already had a conversation about this. The Holidays are just too hard. After the holidays, I have given him permission to be the food/gym police. No crap & at least 20 mins/day......so remind me of this when I start complaining about it!! He can tell how unhappy I am...he doesn't want to do it, but I need help - tough love. Or a personal trainer without the fee =)

sarahyu 12-20-2005 12:51 PM

I think I will for at least a few days. I've started eating something that has triggered my allergies and I'm not sure what it is.

I know that when I eat phase 1 and a careful phase 2 I don't have the nasty post nasal drip and coughing yuck! (TMI?) Plus, I've had a few too many cookies also. When I did phase 1 the first time, I was so incredibly good, I ate nothing unless it was on the phase 1 food list and lost quite a bit of weight and the cravings, but every other time I've tried to do phase 1 again, I usually only last a couple days-it's the fruit-I can handle no bread but I want fruit for snacks and such.

Hubby and I will be joining you Jan 2! PI strict!

FireDust 12-23-2005 10:13 PM

I'm restarting Phase 1 on December 26th. I've been HORRID the last few weeks with my birthday and all the holiday jazz. My first goal is going to be to RE-lose all the weight I've no doubt put back on over the last couple weeks. UGH!

I'm starting my meal planning now so that I'm sure not to do the good old "well... I need to go to the store, I'll start over tomorrow". No way, December 26th... Phase 1, here I come!! Again.

Bunnababy 12-24-2005 03:53 AM

I had a doctor's appt. last week and he told me to forget about even trying until after the 1st. Our son's anniversary party is Jan. 1 :newyear: so I will be starting on the second along with some other changes that I need to make. Things have been very hectic and frustrating for me lately in business and personal life. So my :present: to myself is a little change in my daily routine.

The trainer at the gym is going to redo my program so I can work the broken arm gently at first. :tread:

:snowglo:

chilichick 12-26-2005 06:18 AM

I promised my son ( who lost 75 pounds) that I would go to the gym 5 times a week and not eat any junk. He will be my food and workout police. He is so into lable reading so he will scan for sugar and fat for me and drag me to the gym. I will take Friday and Mondays off. from the gym. My son goes six days a week, but Mondays are icky so I need to come home from work and relax.

Bups 12-26-2005 01:44 PM

I'll be back Jan 2nd. Been off the beach for way too long - havent done baddly weight wise - only up 3 lbs.

mistress_batty 12-26-2005 03:35 PM

I'm starting back up. I've been off the wagon since the beginning of December. Oi. I think I'm going to go to the store and buy some veggies and nuts right now actually.....good luck with hopping back on!

2BFIT1 12-26-2005 07:40 PM

Yep!! I'll be back after the New Year, too. I'll be doing a South Beach/Discovery Health Body Challenge combo starting Jan. 14. I'll be keeping track of my food and excercise on the DH Challange website but sticking to more of a SB food plan. I broke a rib last week, so the exercise will be modified according to my ability at the time.

KellyBelly 12-26-2005 07:58 PM

This post is just what I needed!

I've been OP for a few months now...and I'm ready to get back to it 100%. I've only gained a few pounds back, but I can feel how my tummy is bloated and I don't feel as healthy. Over Thanksgiving holidays I had a breast reduction and that has made such a difference in how my clothes fit! I feel so much better, but I know I can lose this tummy and this booty and be a hot little mama from head to toe! I'll be starting P1 Janaury 2nd. This week I'm getting back to the gym on a regular basis again and cutting out any and all things bad in my kitchen. Count me in and good luck to everyone!

anchor weight 12-27-2005 08:12 AM

Count me in too!

Dang cookies! :p I'm winding down from my food fest this week so Phase I won't be such a killer. Yesterday I stopped stuffing myself silly. Today I'm working towards more protein less carbs.

I too will be kicking up the exercising this year. I'm already on 3 days a week with PT so I just need to fill in with cardio on my days off. I've been thinking about the cardio twice a day thing people are doing. :?: Not sure yet though.

See you chicks on the beach Jan 2!

Barb0522 12-27-2005 09:38 AM

I started a strict phase 1 yesterday and stayed totally OP. I'm fixing eggs right now (mushrooms, southwest Eggbeaters and a slice of RF swiss cheese). I did my shopping yesterday and have lots of veggies in the house and am planning a few new recipes that are phase 1 out of the cookbooks as well as some old favorites. Last night was pork loin with cabbage for me (rice for DH), steamed broccoli, and spinach cooked with garlic and pine nuts (new cookbook). It was yummy and filling. I rediscovered the taste of SF jello and fudgesicles. Now I just need to get to the gym...

chilichick 12-27-2005 10:02 AM

I need to get lots of veggies and at night I will prep them for the next day. I will chop up a bunch to put in salads to take to work and chop some fine ot make an omelette with. I like egg beaters, but the southwest had a strange after taste to me. I may try it again though.

I plan to be very strict and stay OP. Once I get through the two weeks I will be fine. I don't have the cravings as much as I did before.

Ruthxxx 12-27-2005 12:25 PM

Well, I bought romaine and some peppers just now. I cannot commit to Phase I (diabetics on meds need carbs - and yes, I know about legumes) but will definitely be eating healthy stuff. I made a littlel Excel chart for a week with spaces to tick off veggies, milk, water, other stuff and my multi-vitamins. I definitely WILL be better in 2006!

txlawchic 12-27-2005 02:32 PM

i will be on a modified SB starting tomorrow and will, must, have to get some cardio in daily! The first is officially back on plan!

Health always comes first, Ruth.
I sometimes feel shakey the first few days on Phase 1. But I am so ready to commit and I want 2006 to be my year that I get healthy. I see my son who lost 75 pounds be so commited and he was a total junk food junky. So if he can do it, I can to.

Islander 12-28-2005 12:55 AM

:snowglo: I'm fighting a cold now. Come Jan. 1st, I'm going back on Phase 1. :newyear:

chilichick 12-30-2005 09:21 AM

2 more days! I am looking forward to it. I ate pizza yesterday and I ended up sick last night. I figured I would eat what I want for a few days and my stomach thought otherwise.

mama.dragon 01-01-2006 09:51 AM

I'm just kind of doing phase 2 with every 3rd day or so as phase 1. I actually lost weight while I was away from the beach so something must be sticking in my brain about how to eat.
