SBD Pizza - Inevitable Question?

  • I wondered if any of you have used the SB pizza from the frozen food section. I'm sure they are for phase 2 and I have one more week of Phase 1 to do, but could buy them and put them in the freezer. My grocery store has them for 2/$5.00 this week, plus I have a coupon to use. Your comments would be appreciated...........GrannySmith

  • I have had the SB pizzas...they are okay. I will only buy them if I have a coupon and can get them on sale ! I am not a huge pizza lover but they do satisfy me when I have a taste for pizza!
  • I couldn't stand them. I'd rather go without. They taste chemicaly and "frozen". Not worth it to me. Plus I think Dr. A caved to "the man" by endorsing processed foods. I'd rather just eat healthy and splurge on real pizza every once in a great while. I guess those pizza's wouldn't hurt every once in a while but they sure don't taste like a treat to me. Just my cents.
  • I'm with Pear-shape! I make my own on a whole wheat pita if I want one.
  • SBD Pizzas
Everyone has their own taste - I wouldn't load up on them until you know if you like them or not. My friend and I are both pizza fanatics, and we both love the 4-cheese variety of the SBD pizzas. (I put some hot sauce on it for an extra kick, but I've always done that with pizzas.) I wasn't as much of a fan of the pepperoni version.

I have never found them to taste artificial or chemical, but they ARE a diet pizza. They are very filling even though they are pretty small.

My recommendation is try 1 (or 2 as your coupon says) and see if you like them. But definitely don't cave in on Phase 1 for these!
  • I've got them
I did buy two of them, 2/$5.00, they are tucked away in my freezer for whenever I get on Phase 2/3. May be some time before that happens!. LOL My coupon was for $1.55 off of 2, and they were regularly priced at $3.49. I got a cheese one, and a deluxe. I don't think I'd be inclined to buy them at regular price. I can make my own, have done it, just thought I'd try these and see how I liked them. GrannySmith

  • Granny, some of the ingredients in those pizzas are not only not on the 'foods to enjoy' lists, but they sound pretty scary! For instance, the pork fat in one of them...blech! I'll bump up a long conversation we had about the Kraft SBD line. A lot of us think Dr. A sold out with these products. He wants to make the plan easier for some people, we assume, in hopes that they will work towards eating LESS processed food, but some of these things could be made much more healthy if they wanted to do it.

I'd go, instead, with an organic pizza made on wheat crust like Amy's brand (either Spinach or Pesto is okay), make one from a whole wheat crust (our Wegman's carries wheat dough that's almost all WW), make your own pizza crust dough, use a Boboli WW crust, make it on a WW pita or tortilla, or go without. The SBD ones just are a bit scary.
  • Granny- When you get to Phase II there is a recipe in Phase II recipes titled "Main Dish Pizza" I've made this several times for my family- it's very good. I add lots of extra veggie toppings like bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and such. It's really a treat and it smells wonderful in the oven
